MITRAN, METRO went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 12, 2003 at the age of 95. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 72 years, Mary on March 15th of this year. He is also predeceased by his mother, father, two sisters, one son-in-law, one grandson and one daughter-in-law. Metro is survived by three daughters: Sonia of Rutland, BC, Eugenia (John) of Dawson Creek, BC, Olivia (Don) Niagara Falls, ON; two sons: William (Jeannine) of Sherwood Park, AB, Eugene (Zenia) of Vanderhoof, BC; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren and one sister Jenny of Canora, SK; and one sister-in-law Anne of Nanaimo, BC. Metro has been a member of St. Peter & St. Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Ukrainian Men's Association, Kelowna, BC. A special thanks to the Unit A nursing staff at Cottonwoods, and Dr. Nash. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC with the Reverend Father Isadore Woronchak officiating. Interment to follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3. GORDON, JOHN (JACK): 84 leaves his wife Margaret of 62 years on May 13, 2003. He is also survived by three sons: John, Castle Rock, CO; Billy, Christina Lake and Mark, Calgary and one daughter Ruth Vogan, also of Kelowna. Jack leaves eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Evangel Tabernacle. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for Impact Society, 915B 15th Street NE, Calgary, AB T2E 7H8.

Jensen, Karen Adena: November 30, 1944 - May 18, 2003. It is with great sadness that Bill Lees, the staff and residents of Glenwood Place and the Foster s announce the sudden passing of Karen Adena Jensen on Sunday, May 18, 2003. Karen will be sadly missed by many people in the community who she has touched through her volunteer work at the Kelowna Food Bank, the S.P.C.A. and the Singles Club. Karen had a unique spirit about her as a caring and loving person, not only to her fellow man but also to her very special 'four legged friends'. Karen found something calming in the joy of having friends, helping others and touching those of us who knew her with her unfailing acknowledgments of events in our lives. God has blessed our lives with sharing Karen with us and now has taken her home to be with him. God bless you Karen - you will be forever loved and remembered. A celebration of Karen's life will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home 4303 Pleasant Valley Road, Vernon on Friday, May 23, 2003 at 2 p.m.

ROBERTS, EDWARD RONALD: born in Rhyl North Wales on May 4, 1915 passed away on May 16, 2003. Survived by his wife of 63 years Gwendoline, son Tony (Diane), daughter Adrianne (Bill), grandchildren: Craig (Karen), Kevin (Marlene), Shawn (Amanda), Jason and Holly, great grandchildren: Douglas and Kaitlyn, brother in law Tom Hughes and sister in law May Jones and relatives in Canada and Wales. Private service by request.

SCHICK, AGNES: born in Saskatchewan on January 30, 1918 died peacefully at home in Kelowna on May 22, 2003. Predeceased by her husband Peter in 1983, three brothers: Ed, Frank and Ernie and sister Helen. Agnes is survived by her children; sons: Barry (Anita) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Bob of Regina, Sask, and Tom (Kathy) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and daughter Heather (Lawrence) Nagy of Kelowna, BC; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter and two great grandsons; one brother Stan (Guzz) Krause. Funeral mass, in Regina at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2049 Scarth Street on Thursday May 29th, at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow in Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial mass will follow in Kelowna on Wednesday, June 4 at 10:00 AM. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna. STANBROOK, PATRICIA GAIL went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 23, 2003 at the age of 51, after courageous battles with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband Tom; two daughters: Jaime (Derek) Greenslade and their daughter Arianna of Lloydminster, AB; Carrie (Dan) Armstrong and their daughter Kailey of Kelowna; her parents Jim and Grace Wallace of Medicine Hat; brother Gary Wallace of Regina; mother-in-law June (Bob) Foulkes of White Rock; step father-in-law Walter (Joyce) Baragon of Langley; sister-in-laws: Sylvia Rippel and her children: Nicole and Dallas of Kelowna; June (Dennis) Long and their children: Tracy, Todd, Julie of Cloverdale, BC; Terry (Gary) Finegan and their children: Dan and Greg of Los Osos, California; Janice (Bill) Lettues and their son Randy of North Sydney, NS and Ellen Baragon of Vancouver. Predeceased by her brother-in-law Larry Rippel. Gail was born in Wilkie, SK on September 14, 1951, moved to Vancouver and became a nurse. Later she settled in Lloydmister, AB where her and Tom started a successful Pipe Line Company 'Silverdale Welding', which they eventually sold and moved to Kelowna. Gail joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1976 in Fort Nelson, BC where she met many wonderful lifelong friends. Gail was an angel in life and has gone to be an angel with the Lord. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 26th at 1:30 pm at First United Church, 721 Bernard Avenue, Kelowna, BC with David B. Martyn officiating. He is survived by his loving wife Linda; daughter Crystal of Kelowna; his father George Bishop of Quesnel; two brothers: Les Bishop of Quesnel, Frank Bishop of Osoyoos; three sisters: Cindy Morneau of Langley, Shirley Anderson of Quesnel, Patsy Prychun of Abbotsford; one aunt Freda Baity of Squamish; many nieces and nephews. CHRISTIE, SHEILA IRENE (NEE PARR) passed from hands into the arms of Christ early Saturday morning, May 24, 2003. Taken home at 59 years of age after a courageous 6 year battle with cancer. She leaves behind her husband Rob, daughter Jocelyn and son Adam, his wife Yoshiko and new son Tai. Also mourning her passing are her brother Robin and his wife Pat of Meadow Lake, SK and nephew Christopher, his wife Kim and children Brandon and Brooke. Born to Daphne and Paul Parr, Sheila was raised in New Westminster, BC and upon graduation worked at BC Hydro's downtown Vancouver office. Her marriage to Rob in 1966 took them from Vancouver to Kamloops and subsequently to the Okanagan where they have lived for the past 30 years. Her life was focused around a commitment to her Lord and Saviour, her family and a love and enjoyment of the great outdoors. Many people, too many to mention, touched her life throughout this journey. Sheila wanted everyone at CCSI, the Palliative Home Care nurses and Dr. K. Zander to know how much their help and caring was appreciated. A celebration of Sheila's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday May 29, 2003 at Emmanuel Assembly, 2600 Herbert Road, Westbank, BC, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, we request a donation be made to the BC Cancer Agency, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3, you have a choice to fund either the Palliative Care Unit or Colorectal Research. Specify in memory of Sheila Christie. Cards will be available at the church. Hansons' Arbor Westwood Funeral Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.

DUNLOP, GRACE VIOLET: June 20, 1909 - May 17, 2003. After a lengthy and courageous battle with Diabetes, Grace Dunlop passed away at Pine Grove Lodge, Kamloops, BC. Born in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Ross, son Earl and numerous brothers and sisters. Grace is survived by sons Peter, Herb (Shirley), step-daughter Ruth (Jack), seven grand children and two great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews in BC, Ontario and California. While intensely private and caring by nature, she had her best times while with family and spent many hours knitting and crocheting items for others. The family extends a special thank you to all the staff at Pine Grove Lodge, who did so much to make her comfortable while in their care, particularly in the last few months. A graveside service will be held at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery, 1991 Bernard Ave. at 2:00 p.m. May 30, 2003 with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Box 1412, Kamloops, BC V2C 6L7 in her memory. Heiman, Olga: passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2003 in Surrey BC, at the age of 87 years. Olga was predeceased by her husband Julius. Olga is survived by two sons and two daughters: Eric (Donna) of Anacortes, Washington, Ervin (Kay) of Surrey, BC, Betty (George) McCormack of Coquitlam, BC, and Dorine (Mickey) Hochman of Oakville, ON, as well grandchildren and great grandchildren. Olga was one of eight children, five sisters survive her and two brothers predeceased her. A Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC on Friday, May 30th at 11:00am. Interment will be at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. MACEACHERN, CLIFFORD MILO born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan on November 1, 1931 passed away in Kelowna General Hospital on May 24, 2003. He is survived by his wife Fern; two daughters: Maureen (Joe) DePellegrin of Prince George, BC and Kathy MacEachern (Ken Karasiuk) of Estevan Sask.; two grandsons: Orion and Liam DePellegrin; two brothers: Lyle (Terry) of Vancouver and Lloyd (Edie) of Toronto; two sisters: Fern (Bill) Swarbrick of Palm Springs, CA and Joan Robinson of Vancouver; father-in-law Ivan White and sister-in-law Phyllis King both of Prince Albert, Sask. and several nieces and nephews. Cliff was employed with Riverside Forest Products in the electrical department from 1973 to 1996. Memorial Service, Wednesday, May 28 at 3:00 PM in the Cathedral Church of St. Michael & All Angels, 608 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna. Flowers gratefully declined. Falconer, Ethel Juanita passed away May 20th, 2003. She is survived by Carla of Hastings Ontario, Steve of Kamloops, Cyndy, Shane and Scott of Kelowna. Mitch and Mike of Fort Nelson, and many grandchildren. A gathering will be held at Springfield Park Saturday May 31st at 1:30pm, friends welcome.

Slee, Marie (Nee Reiger): passed away suddenly on May 23, 2003 at the Kelowna General Hospital. Marie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Fred; daughter Barb Byrne; son Ron (Cathy); three grandchildren: Jennifer (Bruce) Byrne, James (Melanie) Byrne and Erin Slee; sister Betty Gair and many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
