Bertha Ruth Cowe

COWE, Bertha Ruth Robertson. Born Aberdeen, Scotland, September 27, 1921. Predeceased by her life-long companion and loving husband, James Cowe. passed away at the Palliative Care Unit, Burnaby General Hospital, on Friday, January 9, 2004. The family expresses deep appreciation to the nurses, for the care and support which was given by them. Also, to Dr. Peter Smith. Bertha was a wonderful mother to Norma Anderson (Frank), Marlene Taylor (Alan), and Marshall Cowe (Trudy); terrific grandmother to Scott, Lorna, Rhonda, Craig, Shelly, Carolyn, and Lance; and was specially proud of great grandsons Cody and Mitchell. The Cowe family came from Aberdeen Scotland in December 1956, and Bertha worked many years in the meat department of Woodwards downtown. Her struggle was long and hard, with never a complaint. At the age of 82 she would say 'I'm thankful for every day I get'. She lived life to the fullest, and thoroughly enjoyed music, trips to Scotland, Las Vegas, a flutter on the horses, and when she won, took the family out for dinner. Although we shall all miss her quick wit, hearty laughter, and loving smile, she leaves all who knew her a million wonderful memories. Memorial Service to be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 2:00 pm at Burquitlam Funeral Chapel, 625 North Road, Coquitlam, BC (North Rd. & Foster ).
