John Darichuk
Mr. John Darichuk, resident of Yorkton, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 95 years, 11 months and 6 days of age. John Nicholas Darichuk was born on May 17, 1907 in the Buchanan district of Saskatchewan; a son of Nick and Mary (nee Drobot) Darichuk. John was raised on the family farm and received his education at Doborenowitz School. As a young man, he worked for farmers in the surrounding area. In 1930, John began farming on his own. On November 22, 1930 John was united in marriage to Mary Spilchen of Insinger. This union was blessed with three children, Harry, Frances and Phyllis. John was a community minded person. He served on the School Board for eight years and the Telephone Board for five years. John and Mary farmed for 34 years south-west of Springside. They quit farming in 1964 and moved to Yorkton. John worked in construction for Matheson Brothers for seven years and for one year at Weber Homes. He retired in 1972. Hobbies included fishing, and helping Mary in the garden. John spent the last three years in a personal care home in Yorkton, and had been hospitalized for only a few days prior to his death.
After more than 69 years of marriage, John was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2000, his father Nick, his mother Mary, his brothers Mike, George, Alex, Pete, Wasyl, Tom and his sister Mary Todorash. John leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his son Harry and his wife Trudy of Winnipeg, daughters, Frances and her husband Roman Jendrasheske of Yorkton, and Phyllis and her husband Ernie Haskewich of Calgary; six grandchildren, Tracy Darichuk, Cindy (Mark) Stone, Brenda Shumay, and Carla Rae Haskewich, all of Calgary, Sheldon Shumay of Yorkton and Kevin Darichuk of Costa Rica; four great grandchildren, Christopher and Dylan Stone and Karli Smith of Calgary, and Justin Smith of Winnipeg. Also one sister, Lena Hrynchuk, of Yorkton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends.
Prayer services were held on Monday, April 28, 2003 from the Chapel of Bailey's Funeral Home. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 from Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. Rev. Father Richard Ehrmantraut officiated. The cantor, Mike Sitko assisted by members of the Parish Choir led in the singing of the responses. The crossbearer was Carla Rae Haskewich, the bannerbearers were Christopher and Dylan Stone. The honorarybearers were Allan Hippsley and Henry Yaremko. The Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Ernie Haskewich, Harry Darichuk, Sheldon Shumay, Mark Stone, Roman Jendrasheske and Gerald Darichuk serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Sophie Davyduke
Sophie Davyduke wife of the Late Mike Davyduke of Ituna entered her eternal rest on Friday, March 14, 2003 at the Regina General Hospital. She was ninety-four years of age. Sophie was born on April 6, 1908 in the Fenwood district of Saskatchewan. Sophie was the second youngest of five children of Jakim and Anastasia (nee Char) Martyniuk, emigrants of Western Ukraine. Sophie grew up on the family farm and attended Halech School. In 1919 the family moved to the Hubbard district and later to Goodeve. In February of 1927 her parents purchased land in the West Bend district, where Sophie worked on the family farm. On October 31, 1936 Sophie was united in marriage to Mike Davyduke at Edmore Church near West Bend. Sophie and Mike started a garage at West Bend, which they operated until January of 1946. In March of that year they purchased the Wishart Hotel in partnership with Bill and Mary Martyniuk. Their stay in Wishart was short, with the family moving to Ituna in the fall of 1947. In the spring of 1948 they purchased a garage in Ituna which they operated until their retirement in the fall of 1972. Sophie was very active in her community. She was a member of St. Olga's Ukrainian Orthodox Women's Association in Ituna for over fifty years, where she served on several executive positions. Sophie was a charter member of the Ituna Health Care Auxillary and the Ituna Social Club. She enjoyed curling, playing bridge, crocheting, reading, gardening, letter writing and socializing with her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were very precious to her.
Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Mike; her daughter, Verna Schinkel; a son and daughter in infancy; sisters, Anna Suchy, Pearl Wingerak and Mary Pilot; and brother, Bill Martyniuk. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Nestor (Lorraine) of Ituna and Meroslav (Kathy) of Saskatoon; son-in-law, Bruno Schinkel (Paulette) of Saskatoon; six grandchildren, Dean (Carla Haider) Davyduke, Byron (Debra) Davyduke, Carla Schinkel (Michael Keller), Lara, Daria and Kent Davyduke; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Haider, Danielle, Michelle and Kristen Davyduke.
Prayers were held on Monday March 17, 2003 from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ituna. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 10:00am from Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ituna with Rev. Father Michael Kopchuk officiating. The cantors were John Smysnuik and William Kozey assisted by members of the parish choir. Great grandson, Matthew Haider was the Crossbearer. Bannerbearers were John Davyduke and Morris Davyduke. A tribute and words of remembrance were given by granddaughter, Carla Schinkel. Interment followed in the parish Cemetery with Sophie's grandchildren, Dean Davyduke, Byron Davyduke, Kent Davyduke, Lara Davyduke, Daria Davyduke and Carla Schinkel serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Margareta Daw
Margareta Linnea Daw, or Mickey as she was affectionately known by all, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at the St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre, Lestock, Sask. She was 87 years, 9 months and 20 days of age. Mickey was born on June 29, 1913 in the Jasmin District of Saskatchewan, a daughter of Eric and Angeta (nee Englund) Pearson. Mickey grew up on the family farm and attended school in Jasmin. She lived her whole life in Jasmin and Kelliher areas, other than a short period when she worked in British Columbia. On July 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Alfred Charles ( Charlie ) Daw. They lived in the Jasmin area until 1977 when they moved to Kelliher, continuing to farm from town. They sold the farm in 1991 and settled into retirement. Mickey enjoyed cooking, gardening and doing cross- word puzzles. She was always willing to look after her family. She cooked and cleaned for her father-in-law for several years and took her mother into her home until she became a resident of the nursing home. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. For the past number of years Mickey has been a resident of St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre.
She leaves to to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life her husband Charlie; one daughter Dolores and her husband Ernie Hrynuik of Kelliher, Sask. and their three children Brett and Angela of Saskatoon, Sask. and Crystal of Regina, Sask.; one son Lawrence and his wife Arlene of Leslie and their two children Troy, Jaclyn and her Fiancee Clark Gliddon of Saskatoon, Sask.; three sisters, Eleanor ( Arnold ) Bollinger of Red Deer, Alta, Edna Bindle of Saskatoon, Dolores ( Jim ) Benoit of Calgary, Alta.; one brother Walter ( Adele ) Pearson of Regina, Sask.; three sisters-in-law, Sheila Pearson of Calgary, Alta., Doreen Pearson of Kelliher, Sask, and May DeJong of Balcarres, Sask., along with numerous nieces and nephews. Mickey was predeceased by her parents Eric and Agneta; her father and mother-in-law Charles and Florence Daw; sisters Sigrid (her husband Arthur Vestby) and Karen; brothers Axel, Arvid (his wife Eleanor) and Edsel; and brothers-in-law Gilbert DeJong and Ed Bindle.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2001 from the Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Reverend Harry Miller officiating. The congregational hymns were Amazing Grace and Christ Is Risen. The grandchildren, Brett Hrynuik, Troy Daw, Angela Hrynuik, Jaclyn Daw, Crystal Hrynuik and Clark Gliddon served as Casket Bearers.
Services were directed by Bailey's Funeral Home, Ituna and Yorkton.

John Deckony
Mr. John Deckony of Theodore, SK, entered eternal rest of Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 80 years of age. John was born on May 15, 1922 in the Parkerview district of Saskatchewan; a son of Nick and Katherina ( nee Koroll) Deckony. John grew up on the family farm and attended Chiselhurst School. He stayed on the farm until 1942 when he enlisted in the army. His tour of duty in World War Two was overseas in Germany and Holland. In 1946 at Regina he was honourably discharged. John then returned to the farm for a few years before he began driving truck. He kept a house in Parkerview until 1979 when he moved to Theodore. He lived there until he entered eternal rest. During his working life driving truck, John was employed with various construction companies: Evan's Construction in Saskatoon, Botkin's Construction in Regina and Howard Manchur in Springside until he retired.
John leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life a sister Helen McCaw of Vanvouver, B.C. as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Nick and Katie; his brothers and sisters: Anne Koshman, Nick, George, Mary Melen, Matt and Eva.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday morning, May 10, 2003 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens family Centre with Reverend Father Mel Slashinsky of Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church Officiating with Marlo Pawliuk singing the response to the service. The Interment followed in the St. Elias/Zuchkan Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery south of Sheho with Norman, John, Dave Kuhns Corey, Tanner Bitz and Rick Radons serving as Casket Bearers. The prayers of the Legion Burial Rite were prayed by Rev. Mel Slashinsky. Services directed by Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton.

Mervin (Morris) Decooney
Mr. Mervin (Morris) Decooney passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 59 years of age. Morris was born on June 9, 1942 at Yorkton, Saskatchewan a son of John Decooney and Mary Lozinski. He was raised on the family farm in the Parkerview district and attended Oaknoll School. He helped various farmers in the district and worked for a short period for Bill The Builder. For the longest time Morris resided in and around Yorkton.
He was predeceased by his father; brothers, Matt, John and Walter and sister Iris Decooney. Morris is survived by his mother, Mary Decooney of Theodore; sisters, Elsie (Fred) Baziuk of Theodore and Mary Eckstein of Calgary; his uncle John Deckony of Theodore and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayer services were held on Sunday, January 13th. Funeral services were held on Monday, January 14th from the Family Centre at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Father Mel Slashinsky officiating. The Interment followed in St. Elias, Zuchkan Cemetery with Garry Walker, Alex Baziuk, Bill Baziuk, Harvey Chernipeski, Frank Schurko and Alex Melnechenko serving as the casket bearers. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.

Francisca den Brok
Francisca Waltera den Brok, wife of William den Brok of Saltcoats, passed away on Saturday August 31, 2002 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 77 years of age. Francisca was born on July 7, 1925 at Uden, Holland. A daughter of Theodorus and Maria (nee van Dijk) van der Ven. Frances grew up and attended school in Uden. As a young woman she worked as a serving maid. On April 16, 1952 Frances was united in marriage to Cornelius Wilhelmus (William) den Brok. That same year the young couple immigrated to Canada to start their new life together. They settled in the Saltcoats district of Saskatchewan because William's older brother John and his family had been there for some time already. Frances and William found their early years in Canada to be a challenge, especially the long cold winters which they were not use to, as well as the language barrier. With the help of good friends and hard work they never lost faith as they started their family as well as a business together. Frances loved being outdoors whether it was gardening, tending to her flowerbeds, walking or biking. She had many interests and pastimes including; visiting with friends and neighbours, sewing, reading and writing many letters to distant friends and relatives. Frances's faith was always an important part of her life. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League for over twenty five years. After struggling with Alzheimers for a number of years and in failing health, Frances passed away on Saturday August 31, 2002.
Predeceased by her parents, Theodorus in 1955 and Johanna in 1954, and her sister, Jan (Corry) Spierings in 1993, she leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband William of Saltcoats; her six children and their families, four sons, Theodore (Lenore) of Saltcoats, Gordon (Shelly) of Saskatoon, Paul (Angie) of Saskatoon, and John (Lori) of Yorkton; two daughters, Maria den Brok of Saltcoats, and Wendie den Brok of Vancouver; ten grandchildren, Anika, Carla, Jessica, Shona, Neil, Janet, Gregory, Marissa, Chelsea and Theodosa; two brothers, Cornelius van der Ven and Henk van der Ven, both in Holland, as well as her many other relatives and friends.
Prayer Services were held on Monday September 2, 2002 from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton with Deacon Urban Kiernan officiating. Tributes and words of remembrance were given by sons, Gordon, John and Paul. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at 10:00 am from St. Gerard's Roman Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Father Lorne Crozon assisted by Deacon Urban Kiernan. The crossbearer was Orest Machusek. The organist, Carla Ritter and members of the parish choir led the congregation in the singing of the hymns "Blest are They", "Psalm 24", "Prayer of St. Frances", "One Bread, One Body", "Song of the Angels" and "Though the Mountains May Fall". Honorary Bearers were Truus Rijkers, Gertie Hutchings, May Herron, Sophia Barnhart, Agnes Stokman, Toni van den Heuvel and Treeske Holtkamp. Members of the Catholic Women's League formed an honour guard. The ushers were Nick den Brok and Rosalien Dick. Interment followed in Garden of St. Luke in the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Gordon den Brok, Theodore den Brok, Paul den Brok, John den Brok, Wendie den Brok and Anne Stupak serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

John Deneka
John Deneka of the Calder district entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 71 years of age.
John was born on October 18, 1932 at Wroxton Saskatchewan; a son of Matthew and Polly ( nee Peleshytyk) Deneka area farmers in the district. He received his education at Mostetz school. John then began employment for Saskan Beverages in Yorkton before working on road construction and then took over the family farm. On January 11, 1955 John was united in marriage to Ann Firomski a union that celebrated 43 years. John and Ann farmed together in the Calder district until they retired in the late eighties and made Calder their home. Ann passed away in 1998. John continued to reside in Calder until August of this year when he entered the hospital in Calgary for surgery; which through complications continued to deteriorate his health. Through his own strength and conviction he was able to endure this until this past week.
John was always willing to led a helping hand and was a kind and generous person. He was a compassionate caregiver to his wife Ann throughout her illness. Even though John had lost his arm in an industrial accident he accomplished many things including: playing pool, hunting, restoring furniture and guns and cooking. He was known to be a stellar gardener and sausage maker along with making preserves. He also collected 'anything.'
John will be fondly remembered by his companion of the past four years Lucy Hafner of Moosomin. His son Harold and his wife Leah of Calder and their daughter Darian who held a special place in Grampa's heart. John also leaves his brothers and sisters: Irene Shapkin, Anne (Pete) Preyma, George (Jean) all of Winnipeg, Man., Nettie (Len) of Kelowna, B.C., Matthew Deneka of Roblin, Man. and Olga (Vernon) Apperley of Regina, Sk. along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John was precedeased by his parents, his loving wife Ann in 1998 and a niece Sandra Schaffer
Prayer services were held on Thursday evening, November 13, 2003 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. Funeral services were held on Friday morning, November 14, 2003 from Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church Calder, Saskatchewan with Reverend Father Peter Anhel officiating. Walter Balabuk was the Cantor and was assisted by members of the Parish Choir. Peter Swerhun was the Palamar. The Cross Bearer was Peter Preyma with Andy Wereschuk and Donald Kahut serving as Banner Bearers. The Interment followed in the Parish Cemetery wit: Raymond Apperley, Paul Preyma, Carl Kohut, Dale Deneka, Victor Firmoski and Norm Wozney serving as Casket Bearers.

Katherine Deneschuk
Mrs. Katherine Deneschuk of Yorkton beloved wife of the late Harry Deneschuk entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 8, 2003 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. She was 88 years of age. Katie was born on January 28, 1915 on the family farm at Wishart, Saskatchewan. She was a daughter of Ukrainian Pioneers Sam and Ann (nee Senko) Kachur. Katie attended Royal Rock School near Wishart and worked on her parents’ farm until she was united in marriage to Harry Deneschuk on November 1, 1936 at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church at Wishart. Father Demetrius Hawryluk C.Ss.R. celebrated the marriage ceremony. Katie and Harry purchased land near Harry's parents and farmed until 1942 when the family moved to Dryden Ontario where Harry worked at a Pulp and Paper Mill garage and Katie looked after the home and the family. In 1945 they moved to Rorkton, Man. where Harry owned and operated his own garage. In 1957 they moved to Flin Flon, Man. purchasing a service station and later selling it in 1968. In 1969 Katie was employed at Central Meat and Grocery while Harry worked at the Co-op service station. They retired and moved to Yorkton in 1975. In 1986 Harry passed away. Katie continued to live on her own until the Yorkton and District Nursing Home became her residence. Katie was known for her sewing especially her patchwork quilts. She loved to work in the garden, go fishing (lots when Harry was living) and was a big time card player. She was a member of the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and the U.C.W.L. Katie was a lady with a pleasant smile and a big heart.
Katie leaves to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life her children: Theresa (Terri) Genik of Dauphin, Man. Lorna Godson of White Rock, B.C. John of Flin Flon, Man. and David of Lloydminster, Alta. She also leaves her grandchildren: Darren and Jules Genik, Tobias and Jonas Godson, Justin Deneschuk, Cheryl, Christopher and Christine Deneschuk and a brother Bill of Wynyard, Sask. Katie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harry, a grandson Jonas in 1994; brothers: Nick, Paul, Peter, John, Mike and Joe and sisters: Revered Sister Callista OSB and Mary Panagapko.
Prayer services were held on Tuesday, May 13, 2003 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Yorkton with the Praying of the Rosary led by members of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Canada preceding. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Wednesday morning, May 14, 2003 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Reverend Father Andrei Kachur and Reverend Father Joseph Denischuk C.Ss.R. as Celebrants. The responses to the Liturgy were sung by St. Mary's Funeral Choir. The Epistle Reader was LeeAnn Denischuk with Gail Deneschuk serving as Cross Bearer. The U.C.W.L.C. served as an Honour Guard with the Prapar being carried by Sonja Pawliw. The Banners were carried by Theresa Deneschuk and Mabel Zawada with Agnes Gawryluik, Ann Skochylas and Angie Grunert carrying the association wreath. The Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Walter Denischuk, Ted Deneschuk, Gene Denischuk, Justin Deneschuk, Gaylene Dubiel and Rosaline Pidperyhora serving as Casket Bearers. Services directed by Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton.

Brian Denesowych
Mr. Brian Joseph Denesowych of Wynyard and formerly of Kelliher, Sask. beloved son of Steve entered eternal rest on Thursday, October 4, 2001 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 47 years of age. Brian was born on April 3, 1954 at Regina, Sask. He was raised in the community of Kelliher by his father Steve, aunt Mary and paternal grandparents. Brian attended school in Kelliher and later worked at Sunnyland Hatchery in Kelliher. Following the plants closure in 1986 he moved to work at the Wynyard Sunnyland location and later with Lilydale Foods. Brian's most endearing quality was his fun, hearty laugh. He taught himself to play the accordion and joined in many family sing - alongs with his father on the violin. Over the past few years Brian had many health complications. His family is now comforted knowing Brian is at peace with our Saviour Jesus Christ in the Garden of Heaven.
Brian was predeceased by his paternal grandparents John and Agnes Denesowych; and by uncles Nick and Peter. Left to cherish his memory are his father Steve of Yorkton, his special aunty Jean Denesowych of Yorkton, aunty Mary ( Steve ) Kielniak of Yorkton and aunty Mary Denesovych of Winnipeg; cousins: Marie ( Mike ) Seckler and family of Brampton,ON., Walter ( Conny ) Denesovych and family of Vanguard,SK., Pat ( Don ) Zurakowski and family of Prince Albert, SK., Val ( Greg ) Brandt and family of Armstrong, BC., Allan ( Cheryl ) Denesowych and family of Yorkton, SK., Marj ( Pete ) Havixbeck of Winnipeg, MB., Dave ( Natalie ) Denesovych of Winnipeg, MB., Linda Pelletier and family of Winnipeg, MB., Dave ( Lynn ) Kielniak of Winnipeg, MB., and mother Doris Barker of Oliver, B.C.
Prayer services were held on Sunday, evening October 7, 2001 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Vladimir Kolpakov C.Ss.R. officiating. Members of St. Mary's Funeral Choir led in singing of the responses. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday morning, October 8, 2001 from St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kelliher with Very Rev. Father Methodius Kushko C.Ss.R. as Celebrant and Ostap Piasta serving as Cantor. Leonard Romanson was the Sacristan with Linda Pelletier serving as the Cross Bearer. The Epistle reader was Conny Denesovych. The Interment followed in the parish Cemetery with Allan Denesowych, Dave and Walter Denesovych, Serge Lepine, Ray Pelletier and Don Zurakowski serving as casket bearers. Eternal Memory! Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Steve Denesyk
DENESYK - Steve closed his eyes on Tuesday February 24, 2004 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre following one year of ill and failing health with his wife of 53 years and his family at his side. He was 79 years of age.
Steve was born to William and Maria (Kucey) Denesyk of the Theodore District on November 13, 1924. He was the fourth born son in the family of seven. He went to school at Creekside. Many friends have numerous stories of Steve's schoolboy antics and his unique zest for life. At the age of 17 Steve was called to the Canadian Army. Leaving on the day of his 18th birthday (November 13, 1942) he received basic and infantry training in B.C. In 1943 his battalion was sent to England then Holland. A knee injury from a game of rugby kept Steve from reporting to the front line with his battalion. Instead he was transferred to the Military Police Force in Holland. In July 1946 he was discharged and returned home to Theodore. Back in Theodore Steve decided to venture to Fort Frances and work at the paper mill. He also did some grocery trucking. Farming was in his heart though and he eventually returned to Theodore to work on the family farm. In July 1950 he married Frances Karapita. Two years later they began their own family farm purchasing the Karapita homestead one mile north of Jedburgh. Together Steve and Fran farmed until moving to Yorkton in 2002. As a young farmer Steve was active with the National Farmer's Union and a Director on the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, William and Maria; brothers Matt, John, Alex, Mike and sister Mary; brother in law Mike Kitzul, sister in laws Vi Denesyk, Mary Denesyk and Mary Ann Denesyk.
He leaves to remember his life his wife Frances, daughters Linda (Ray Groff) of Regina, Peggy (Richard Sarada) of Melville, Cheryl (Allan Denesowych) of Yorkton; 7 grandchildren: Rae (Hank Bolsterli) of Cambridge Ontario, Tammy Groff (Stephen Brown) of Montreal Quebec, Susan Groff (Jayson De 'Ath) of Dublin Ireland; Michael Sarada of Estevan, Lori Sarada (Justin Komarychka) of Balcarres; Tanner and Cple Denesowych of Yorkton; two great- grandchildren Oliver (5 yrs) and Madelyn (3yrs) Bolsterli of Cambridge Ont. One sister Adele (Alex Markowski) of Fort Frances and sisters in law, Lena Denesyk of Winnipeg and Cecilia Denesyk of Theodore. Numerous nieces and nephews and Dude - the family farm dog - he too will miss Papa Steve.
A Service of Comfort was held on Friday evening, February 27th from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday afternoon, February 28, 2004 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Rev. Faye Greer of Westview United Church officiating. The eulogy was given by grandson Cple Denesowych. Soloist, Jackie Washenfelder sang 'The Old Rugged Cross' and 'On Eagles Wings'. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, General Alexander Ross branch #77 gave the legion tribute service, Padre was Rev. Irving Fraser, Sgt-at-arms was Mike Bidnock, and the color party consisted of Fred Fenske, John Zaretski, Andy Juba and Paul Zawerucka. The Interment took place in the Garden of St. Luke, with urnbearer Michael Sarada, assisted by all the grandchildren present as honourary bearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
