Steve Kramer
Steve Kramer was born on July 26, 1914 on the family farm in the Rokeby district of Saskatchewan; a son of Sam and Ksenia (nee Blahey) Kramer. He was raised on the farm and attended the Rosemount School. At the age of 17, he started his own threshing crew. On May 23, 1937 Steve was united in marriage to Sonia Gulka at Yorkton, and the couple enjoyed nearly 66 wonderful years of marriage. They farmed in the Pebble Lake district, in between Yorkton and Rokeby. Steve enjoyed all of nature's wonderful gifts of hunting, trapping and fishing as well as raising rainbow trout in his dug-out. Later in life he especially enjoyed curling and playing cribbage. When Steve retired from farming, the couple moved to Yorkton in 1976. Steve will always be remembered as a good person who was also community minded, he served as president of the Yorkton Farmers Curling Club for many years, and was bestowed the honour of a life membership. Although Steve was in good health for much of his senior years, this past year his health had been in steady decline. On November 12th he became a resident of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. Steve passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 22, 2003. He was 88 years of age. Predeceased by his parents Sam and Ksenia; a daughter Angeline Milbank; a sister Lena Twining; a brother Bill and sister-in-law Isabel Kramer; and a daughter-in-law Lucille Kramer. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Sonia; two sons, Bill of Yorkton, and Sam and his wife Josie of MacNutt; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Koroll of Saskatoon, Lindy (Kelly) Becker of Yorkton, Rhonda (Gerry) Popiuk of Melville, Memori Kramer of Roblin, Steven (Sheri) Kramer of Regina, Reg (Ginger) Milbank of North Carolina, Randy (Ginger) Milbank of San Jose, Ron (Chris) Milbank of Gardnerville, Nevada; great grandchildren, Joshua and Matthew Koroll, Samantha and Shelby Kramer, Colton Kramer, Renee and Rachelle Milbank, and R.J., Nickolas and Katlyn Milbank; sisters, Ann Wiley of Toronto, Stephanie Baker of Ukiah, California, and Lillian Eremko of Calgary; a brother Danny (Marg) Kramer of North Battleford; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and his many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Sonia Kramer
Mrs. Sonia Kramer of Yorkton beloved wife of the late Steve Kramer entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home at the age of 87 years. Sonia was born on Marrch 6, 1919 in Yorkton, Sask. A daughter of Steve and Anna (Zawitkowski) Gulka. On May 23, 1937 Sonia was united in marriage to Steve Kramer at Yorkton and the couple enjoyed nearly 66 wonderful years of marriage. They farmed in the Pebble Lake district and over the years Sonia fully enjoyed her role as a dairy farmer's wife and especially enjoyed the yardwork and gardening. She'll always be remembered as the 'Avon Lady' in her community; having spent over 50 years as their representative receiving many awards for outstanding achievements. When Steve retired from farming they moved into Yorkton in 1976. After Steve died in 2003 Sonia continued to make her home in Yorkton and then moved to the Yorkton and District Nursing Home where she has since resided. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Steve; a daughter Angeline Milbank; daughter - in - law Lucille; brothers - in - law: Ted Taylor, Albert Souliere, Val Neilson, Bud Campbell and two sisters: Katie (Ted) Taylor, Jean (Albert) Souliere. She leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life two sons: Bill ( friend Connie) of Yorkton, Sk., Sam (Josie) of MacNutt, Sk. Her grandchildren: Reg (Ginger) Milbank of North Carolina, Randy (Ginger) Milbank of San Jose, California, Ron (Chris) Milbank of Reno , Nevada, Rhonda (Gerry) Popiuk of Melville, Sk., Memori Kramer of Roblin, MB., Steven (Sheri) Kramer of Regina, Sk., Jennifer (Jeff) Koroll of Saskatoon, Sk., Lindy (Kelly ) Becker of Yorkton, Sk.; great grandchildren: Renee and Rachelle Milbank, R.J., Nickolas and Kaitlyn Milbank, Samantha and Shelby Kramer, Czena Kramer, Colton Crone, Joshua and Matthew Koroll and Adam Becker; sisters: Marge (Val) Neilson, Anne (Bud) Campbell; sister - in - law Mary Gulka brother - in - law Danny (Marg) of North Battleford, Sk as well as numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends. Funeral service and Parastas was held on Tuesday morning, July 11, 2006 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev Father Methodius Kushko C.Ss.R. of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church officiating. The responses to the service were sung by Ed Pindus, Colette Karapita and members of the Parish Choir. The Cross Bearer was Jennifer Koroll. The Interment followed in the Garden of St. Luke, Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Ken Eremko, Steven Kramer, Ed Magis, Gerry Popiuk, Jeff Koroll and Kelly Becker serving as Casket Bearers.
Services directed by Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton.

Pearl Kreway
Pearl was born on March 29, 1930 in the Ituna district of Saskatchewan; the third child of eight born to Philip and Annie (nee Federko) Broshko. Pearl was raised on the family farm and attended the Olga School. On October 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Walter Kreway in Ituna, where they actively farmed until 1999. In addition to farming they owned and operated the Town & Country caf� in Ituna for seven years, from 1960 to 1967. After selling the caf�, Pearl worked for the local IGA store for a short time, and then at the Ituna and District Pioneer Lodge for a period of fifteen years, from 1980 to 1995. Pearl enjoyed cooking, gardening and playing cards with friends. She was actively involved with the church and St. Olha's Ukrainian Orthodox Ladies Association, however, her most treasured joy and pastime was being in the company of her three grandchildren, Kyle, Sarah and Ashley. 'Her family was her life'. For the last 2 � years, together with her faith in God, and her well known determination and strong will, Pearl challenged the unrelenting persistence of cancer. On June 1, 2003 surrounded by her family, Pearl passed away at the Ituna Pioneer Health Care Centre. She was 73 years of age.
Pearl leaves to cherish her memory and to mourn her passing, her husband Walter; their two sons, Don (Geri) and son Kyle of Regina; Bill (Bev) and their two daughters Sarah and Ashley of Yorkton. She also leaves her two brothers, Bernie (Rita) Broshko of North Battleford, Peter Broshko of Regina; sisters Olga Antonishyn and Rose Broshko, both of Ituna, and Gloria (Peter) Chernoff of Regina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and her many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Eva Kruda
KRUDA - Mrs. Eva Kruda, beloved wife of Nick Kruda of Yorkton entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 26, 2004 at St. Peter's Hospital in Melville. She was 78 years of age. Eva was born on November 3, 1924 in the Goodeve district, daughter of Mike and Katie (Sereda) Elash. She was raised on the family farm and attended Nanton School. She enjoyed attending classes and excelled in school completing her grade nine by the age of fourteen. She loved music and was an amature musician teaching herself to play the violin and later the organ.
On November 8, 1950 Eva was united in marriage to Nick Kruda and together the young couple started their farming career in the Jedburgh area. In 1955 they were blessed with their only son Randy. While on the farm, Eva was actively involved in the Beaverdale Church, faithfully singing in the choir. She was treasurer of the Ladies Club from 1961 until 1990. Eva enjoyed gardening and canning during the summer months and crocheting and curling during the winter months. Eva was also a member of the Willowbrook Seniors Club. In 1989 Nick and Eva semi-retired and moved to their new home in Yorkton. Eva continued her love for gardening but found her city garden far too small so she still tended to her large farm garden. Eva became a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church and also enjoyed singing with the Ukrainian Choir. Eva also became a member of the Golden Agers and continued to enjoy socializing with friends, playing cards and even bowling.
Eva began a long and courageous battle with cancer in August of 1999 and was hospitalized for the final time in the early spring of 2003. Eva carried her cross well and without complaint. Eva was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Katie Elash; brothers, John and Antony (in infancy); brothers-in-law, Howard Misko, Mike Misko, Henry Stecyk and Ernie Bierwagon.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Nick; son Randy (Martha) of Jedburgh and her pride and joy, her three grandchildren, Rebecca, Clayton and Jessica. She will be missed and remembered by her sisters, Ann Misko of Yorkton, Rose Misko of Melville, Nettie Stecyk of Regina and Mae Bierwagon of Fenwood; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Prayers were held on Tuesday, October 28th from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton following the praying of the rosary. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Wednesday, October 29th at St. Mary's Church with Very Rev. Bryan Bayda, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by St. Mary's Funeral Choir. The organist, Melita Benko accompanied with the singing of the hymns. The epistle was read by Rebecca Kruda. Clayton Kruda served as cross bearer and altar server. The banner bearers were Mary Lazurko and Anna Gulka. Olga Prybylski, president of the Golden Agers carried their memorial wreath. The honourary bearers were Bill & Sylvia Krywulak, Joe & Stella Kruda, Olga Prybylski, and Nick & Ella Benko. The Interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Carmen Bierwagon, Ron Misko, Leo Misko, Charlie Hycza, Bill Prybylski and Dave Hull serving as the casket bearers. A tribute and words of appreciation were expressed by son, Randy. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.

Jennie Kuliasa
Mrs. Jennie Kuliasa of Yorkton, beloved wife of Nick Kuliasa entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina. She was 70 years of age. Jennie was born on March 2, 1932 in Yorkton to the family of Paul and Rosie (nee Sawchyn) Borys. On October 23, 1949 Jennie was united in marriage to Nick Kuliasa.
Predeceased by family members, Rosie & Paul Borys and Helen Jackman; Jennie leaves to cherish her memory her husband Nick; son Donald (Lynda) of Herschel, SK; son Dennis (Bharti) of Drayton Valley, AB; daughter Valerie (Patrick) Moroz of Wainwright, AB; daughter Wanda (Don) Andrychuk of Bradford, ON; son Ken (Colleen) of Nanaimo, BC; grandchildren, Ken Kuliasa, Wendy Roche, Joshua Kuliasa, Andrea & Brock Moroz, Jevon & Carlene Andrychuk; great grandchildren, Dominick & Jacob Kuliasa, John Jr. & Alissa Roche; family members, Pearl Anaka of Regina,SK, Paulina (Andrew) Otchenash of Winnipeg MB, Josie Basarsky of Ponoka, AB, Steve (Genevieve) Borys of Canora, SK.
Prayers were held on Sunday, February 9, 2003 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton. The rosary led by members of U.C.W.L.C. preceded the prayers. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Monday, February 10, 2003 from St. Mary's Church with Very Rev. Bryan Bayda, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. St. Mary's Funeral Choir led in the singing of the responses. The epistle reader was Genevieve Borys. Serving as cross bearers were Wendy Roche, Carlene Andrychuk and Andrea Moroz. The U.C.W.L.C. Honor Guard included Sonja Pawliw bearing the prapor; Mary Kozak and Marty Otchenash serving as banner bearers; and Joyce Kniaz, Violet Kluk and Mary Popowich bearing the Memorial Wreath. The Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with grandsons, Ken Kuliasa and Jevon Andrychuk; sons-in-law, Don Andrychuk and Patrick Moroz; nephews, Paul Borys and Myron Kuliasa serving as the casket bearers. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Mr. Wasyl Anton Kushnir
KUSHNIR - Mr. Wasyl Anton Kushnir, beloved husband of May Kushnir of Yorkton, formerly of the Hamton district passed away on Friday January 27, 2006 at the Yorkton and District Nursing Home. He was eighty-eight years of age.
Wasyl was born on March 14, 1917 at the family farm near Hamton Sask., a son of Anton and Marinka (nee Krepakewich) Kushnir. Wasyl was raised on the family farm and received his education at Oleskow School from grades 1 - 9. After his father died Wasyl helped on the family farm and on October 18, 1936 was united in marriage to May Semeniuk. May then joined Wasyl on the farm. Wasyl was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He dedicated his life to Jehovah and was Baptized in 1935. He really enjoyed talking about Jehovah's promises and was fearless in talking to anyone about it. He served as a Congregation Overseer for several years in Hamton and was a good speaker in both English and Ukrainian. Besides farming Wasyl also had many other occupations. He was involved with the scrap metal business which he enjoyed very much and did right up to the time he died; he was an auctioneer and held a license for over 50 years taking this part of his life from Ontario to Alberta. After moving to Yorkton in 1958 Wasyl found brief employment with the McLeod's store. He also built the present home that he and his family continue to live in to this day and then built over a dozen homes and sold them in Yorkton. Although Wasyl continued to farm, the scrap business always was his real interest. He also had a shop on the farm where he did blacksmith work for the local farmers as well as built stone boats and snow plows for local people. During his life Wasyl was a member of the Auctioneers School of North America for over 50 years and when he had the time, enjoyed music, singing and reading especially items of history. Throughout his life he was an honest and generous man in his work dealings. His wife and family and was especially generous to his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he loved very much.
He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his wife May of over 69 years. His son Darrell John of Pickering, On.; daughters: Judith Janet May Walker of Yorkton, Sk., Sharron (Dale) Hudson of Fort Qu'Appelle, Sk.; grandchildren: S. Paul Kushnir, Tanya (Warren) Chin, Alex (Esther) Kushnir, Colin Hudson, Derek (Laura) Hudson, Joshua (Melinda) Hudson, Suzanna (Chris) Jones; great grandchildren: Devin and Brooklyn Kushnir, Logan, Sophia, Kennedy and Sunnee Hudson and Anthony Jones. As well his brother Paul Kushnir of the Netherlands; sisters:, Anna Kushnir of Wawa, On., Marion (Vernon) Leoppky of Duarte, California. Wasyl was predeceased by his parents; sons: Gerald William Kushnir, Dallas Jonathan Kushnir; daughter - in - law Jocelyn Kushnir; brothers: Peter and John and sisters: Helen Kachan and Katherine Jason.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Mr. Gerry Kreba of the Maple Ave. Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Words of remembrance were given by son, Darrell Kushnir.
Interment followed at the family plot in the Garden of Devotion at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Darrell Kushnir, Paul Kushnir, Alex Kushnir, Colin Hudson, Derek Hudson and Joshua Hudson serving as casket bearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Ann Kuziak
Mrs. Ann Kuziak, beloved wife of Alex Kuziak of the Bentley Manor in Yorkton, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 7, 2003. She was 94 years of age. Ann Kuziak was born on January 30th 1909 on the family farm in the Burgis district of Saskatchewan; the seventh child born to Todor and Safta (nee Gushulak) Jarman. She took her early schooling in the Burgis district, and her high school at Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon. She obtained a teaching certificate at Moose Jaw Normal School in 1931 and taught school in the Canora and Sturgis area for four years. Ann met Alex Kuziak at a school picnic at Poplar Springs School and they were married on June 8, 1935 on the family farm. The couple resided in Canora where their three sons, Myron, David and Jerry were born. In 1952 the family moved to Regina, where their daughter Bettie Anne was born. In 1964 the family moved to Yorkton, where Ann and Alex have since resided. Due to failing health, Ann had been a resident of the Theodore Health Centre since November 22nd of last year. In her younger years, Ann had been very active in the United Church Women's Guilds in Canora, Regina and Yorkton. She was an avid supporter of the CCF and NDP, taking an active role in the party's women's groups organizing fund raising activities. In Yorkton, she spent much of her time doing volunteer work for the CO-OP and United Church Guilds. Ann had many pastimes, including knitting, gardening, golfing, bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who gave ceaseless time and energy caring for her family. Her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren will greatly miss their Baba, especially for all her wonderful Ukrainian family dinners.
Predeceased by her parents, four sisters and six brothers, she leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life, her beloved husband Alex; sons, Myron and his partner Sara Reddon of Neudorf, SK, David of Yorkton and Jerry of Theodore; daughter Bettie Thompson and her husband Don of Theodore; grandchildren, Natalya Kuziak of Ottawa, Sara Kuziak/Jeff Grehan of Regina, Nicole Kuziak of Yorkton, and Tanya Kuziak/James Srochenski of Saltcoats; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Sabrina. Also a sister Katherine Kittar in BC and a brother, George and his wife Rose Jarman of Saskatoon, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and her many other relatives and friends.
The Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003 from Westview United Church in Yorkton with Rev. Faye Greer officiating. Son Myron Kuziak gave the eulogy. The organist, Sharon Litvanyi led members of the church choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns Amazing Grace and What A Friend We Have in Jesus. The Interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Tanya Kuziak, Nicole Kuziak, James Srochenski, Eugene Kitchen, Mike Wiwchar and Ed Keyowski serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.

Marcella Kuzyk
Mrs. Marcella Kuzyk of Yorkton, beloved wife of Walter Kuzyk passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 82 years of age. Marcella was born on a farm near MacNutt, Saskatchewan on August 26, 1920; the youngest child born to Peter and Tina (nee Petroschuk) Tkatchuk. She was raised on the family farm and attended Czernawka School and later graduated from the Yorkton Collegiate Institute. She completed a secretarial course at the Success Business College in Regina and soon after obtained employment with the Sask Wheat Pool. While in Regina she met Walter Kuzyk who was in the army at that time. On July 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Walter. Following their marriage the couple resided in the Mazeppa district and in the Wroxton district where Walter was employed as a schoolteacher. In the fall of 1958, Walter's teaching career brought them to Yorkton where they have since resided. Marcella was employed part time as a typist for several years by the Yorkton Public School Board. Marcella kept herself busy with many crafts over the years. Her favorite craft involved the pictures made of glass. She was a faithful member of the Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton and an active member of the Ukrainian Women's Association serving on different committees. She sang with the church choir for many years. Being active in community work she canvassed for most of the campaigns. Marcella enjoyed sports and was a member of the curling and bowling leagues. She was an especially good softball player. Marcella was a loyal and loving wife, care giving and advocating for her husband Walter who has been stricken with Alzheimer's Disease. Her children and granddaughters were the center of her life. She was fond of animals and often looked after her children's dogs. Marcella had a special place in her heart for family and friends. Her warmth, kindness and fun-loving spirit will be sadly missed.
Predeceased by her parents Tina and Peter; brothers Alex, Fred and Mike Tkatchuk and sisters Rhia Oliowski, Elsie Derbowka and Rose Harasen. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Walter; her daughter Sharon (Wally) Matweyko of Saskatoon; her son Barry of Angusville, Manitoba, her granddaughters Jenna and Cara Matweyko; her brother John Tkatchuk of Yorkton and numerous dear nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Prayers were held on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Holy Transfiguration Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Yorkton. The funeral service was held on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at Holy Transfiguration Church with Rev. Father Richard Ehrmantraut officiating. The cantor, William Kozey assisted by members of Holy Transfiguration Choir led in the singing of the responses. The cross bearer was Virginia Wereschuk and the banner bearers were Mavis Riabko and Anne Antoniuk. Members of the Ukrainian Women's Association, Olena Pchilka Branch formed the honour guard. Lillian Prokopchuk led with the branch prapor, followed by candle bearers, Kay Woloschuk and Sally Skwarchuk. The Interment followed in the Garden of Crucifixion at Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Len Harasen, George Tkatchuk, Dennis Derbowka, Bob Derbowka, Ron Tkatchuk and Alvin Tkatchuk serving as the casket bearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.

Mary Kwasnitza
Mary Kwasnitza was born on April 24, 1910 in Jaroslaw, Poland, the daughter of John and Petrunka (neee Dlugush) Hudjack. At the young age of two and a half, Mary immigrated with her parents to Canada settling in the Theodore and Sheho districts. On September 5, 1926 she was united in marriage to John Kwasnitza at Yorkton. The couple farmed first in the Theodore district and later the Ituna district. In 1959 they retired and moved into Ituna. Mary enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening and growing flowers. She was also a great card player. She was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, a member of the UCWL and a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary. Mary entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 15, 2002 at the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre. She was 92 years of age.
Predeceased by her parents, husband John, son Orest; two grandsons, Kelly Britton and David Leontowicz; a great granddaughter Tammy Matt; a great grandson, Curt Michael Leontowicz; four brothers Walter, Mike, Joe and John and a sister Analka Hudjack; Mary leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Stanley (Steffie) of Ituna, Jim (Lil) of Airdrie, AB and Henry (Marianne) of Regina; two daughters Adella (Alex) Leontowicz of Ituna and Carol (Lloyd) Britton of Saskatoon; twenty - one grandchildren; twenty - four great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Prayer services were held on August 16th from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on August 17, 2002 form Sacred Heart Church with Very Rev. Peter Pidskalny C.Ss.R. officiating. The Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
