Coatsworth: Alfred J.
It is with great-sorrow that we announce that Alfred J. Coatsworth, founder and President of Coatsworth Communications Inc., died Friday, April 13, 2001, after a long battle with cancer. Alfred was recognized as an industry leader in 'desktop publishing' spending more than 30 years working with Canadian and international newspapers. Alfred started his career as a chemist with shell Oil, but, Muirhead/Crosfield came knocking in 1965 and he made the leap into what would be the new world of fax machines and desktop publishing. When he left Crosfield, he said that 'it took him 5 minutes to make up his mind what to do next' and in August of 1993 CCI was born. The first order came from Thompson Newspapers the first week in business and Alf never looked back. Alfred was known for his intelligence, droll wit and ever-cheerful disposition. CCI's motto 'We're small Enough to Be BIG on Personal service' exemplifies Alf's attitude to customers and friends alike. He will be greatly missed. Beloved husband and best friend of Bonney. Loving father and father-in-law of Jeffrey and susan and the late Murray. Caring stepfather of Marty J. McKinney. Proud and loving grandfather to Katherine and Elizabeth. Missed and remembered with love by his sisters Beverley (John) Gillespie of Wheatley On., and Virginia (John) Allen of Newmarket On. Born May 1, 1941 in Wheatley On., son of the late Alfred James Grover and Helen Campbell (Gilles) of Wheatley On. A memorial service will be held Friday April 20, 2001 at 2:00pm at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main street south, Brampton, Ontario. Interment to be held at Heatherington Cemetery in Wheatley, On commencing at 2:00pm on April 28, 2001In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer charity of your choice in Alfred's memory would be appreciated.

Mother of Rilla and her husband Robert Antti of Burlington, Rhea and her husband Larrison Knapp of Sault Ste. Marie, Doreen and her husband Robin Read of Peterborough, Thelma and her husband William Creighton of Stouffville and Muriel and her husband Craig Marshall of Richmond Hill. Grandmother of Shane and Ryan Lee, Philip Knapp and Lynn, Jennifer and Kimberly Antti. Also survived by ten great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother George Michael formerly of Thornbury. Elsie Cook is remembered from her teaching days at Strathcona and Bayview Schools in Owen Sound. Lovingly remembered by 41 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Sister of Bertha Fitzsimmons of Berkley. Predeceased by four sons, one daughter, five brothers and two sisters. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Tannahill Funeral Home on Saturday, September 9th at 11 o'clock with visitation two hours before service time. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery. MARY RITA COWLEY (EGAN) - Surrounded by her family, Mrs. Mary Cowley passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Sarnia, Ontario on Sunday, October 1, 2000. Beloved wife of the late Charles Cowley (1954). Much loved mother of Mary Ann and her husband Brian Boucher and Joe Cowley and his wife Vickie of Sarnia. Loving grandmother of Janice and her husband Stuart Ingle, Jennifer and her fiance Frank Abbinett, Jodie and her husband Delon Barnett, Julianne Boucher, Christopher and Kelli Cowley. Survived by a brother Joseph Egan and his wife Virginia of Sarnia, Ontario and a sister Theresa Foley and her husband Norm of Elliott Lake, Ontario and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Vince and Frank, sister-in-law June Egan and her parents Anne and Vincent Egan. Mrs. Cowley will always be remembered as a champion for Catholic Education in Lambton County. She was Secretary-Treasurer of the Sarnia Separate School Board, Superintendent of Business for the Lambton County Separate School Board and Secretary-Treasurer of the St. Patrick's Private School Board. She also served as a trustee and chair of the Lambton County Separate School Board. Her work in Catholic Education was acknowledged with the naming of the Mary Cowley Catholic Education Centre in Sarnia. Mrs. Cowley served on many local associations and committees. She held numerous offices in the Catholic Women's League, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the St. Patrick's Lottery Committee and the Juvenile Court Advisory Committee. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 5, 2000 at 11 a.m. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia on Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with prayers being offered at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. Joyce worked many years in the Sarnia retail market including Keelans Ltd., co-owner of Merle Norman Cosmetics and finally co-owner of Around the World Travel & Cruises.
