Robert Jerome Gallegos
Robert Jerome Gallegos, 22, died in an automobile accident on
Sept. 5 just outside Leadville.
He was born on June 4, 1981, in Leadville to Robert and Rosalie
(Sanchez) Gallegos and went to school in Leadville.
Most recently, Gallegos worked as
a roofer for Fling Construction. He thought highly of his bosses,
Howard Fling and Carl Schaefer and was proud to be part of the
crew. He considered his fellow workers as part of his extended
family.
He enjoyed fishing and camping in the summer, but was
especially happy when he was spending time with his family and
friends.
Gallegos is survived by his wife, Gabrial Beck Gallegos,
Leadville; children, Alexis, 3, Robert Jr. III, 2 and one on the way
who will be named Mariah Gallegos; parents Rosalie and Robert
Gallegos; sister Hope (Daniel) Romero; and brother Isaac
(Andrea) Gallegos, all of Leadville; nieces and nephews
Christopher and Marcus Romero; and Danisha and Julina
Gallegos; uncles David D. (Maggie) Sanchez; Jeff A. (Marcy)
Sanchez; and Nick and Lou (Chela) Gallegos; aunts Wanda
(Dean) Martinez and Peggy (Ernest) Romero.
He is also survived by his grandmothers Rose Sanchez and Daisy
Gallegos; cousins Noah, Brandon, Amanda, Anyssa and Monique
Sanchez; Chantelle and Jerel Martinez; Richard (Amanda)
Romero; and numerous other relatives.
The Vigil was held on Sept. 9 at Annunciation Catholic Church in
Leadville. Father Jay Jung officiated. Pallbearers were Jason
Packard, Isaac Gallegos, Daniel Romero, Guillermo Jaramillo,
Jake Coles and Phil Taylor.
Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.

Joseph Daniel Gregson
Joseph Daniel Gregson, 22, died Sept. 5 from injuries he sustained
in an automobile accident. He was born in Leadville on Aug. 4, 1981,
to Janice Fox and Joe D. Gregson.
"Jo Jo", as he was called, went to school in Leadville and then
worked for the Columbine Cafe and Ski Cooper before becoming a
roofer for Fling Construction; jobs he enjoyed and took great
pride in. Gregson had a great passion for reading. He read
everything he could put his hands on. He also enjoyed hanging
around with his friends and hiking but what he loved the most
was his niece and two nephews. Baby-sitting with them was never
a chore; he looked forward to every minute with them.
He had a heart of gold. His family remembers that everyone who
ever met him, loved him.
Gregson was preceded in death by his uncle Paul Fox; maternal
grandmother Virginia Lee Fox; and paternal grandparents
Harmon and Thelma Gregson.
He is survived by his parents, Janice Fox, Leadville; and Joe D.
(Janet) Gregson, Ft. Collins; sisters Jennifer Miller and Jessica
Gregson, both in Leadville; niece Skyler Acre; nephews Christian
and Noah Miller; step-brother Matthew Reasoner, Centenial; and
step-sister Nicole Reasoner, Ft. Collins; uncles Dr. Lee Thomas
(Carolle) Fox; and Jan Louis Gregson; and aunt Sherry Fox.
Services were held on Sept. 8 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel
with the Reverend Frances McWilliams officiating. Pallbearers
were Phil Taylor, Jason Packard, Isadore Lucero, Jamie Rintala,
Jacob Coles and Vance Vogel. Honorary pallbearers were Vern
Strobl, Raymond Miller, Robert Calder and Jim Ed Acre.
Gregson was laid to rest in the Masonic Cemetery in Leadville.
Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.

Ufracio Medina
Ufracio Medina, 83, died Sept 5 at St. Vincent Hospital in
Leadville.
A memorial service was held on Sept. 8 at the Red Cliff Gym.
Elder Frank Rhoades officiated.

Leadville.

Ufracio Medina, 83, died Sept 5 at St. Vincent Hospital in
Leadville.
Medina was born in Rodarte, N.M., on Aug. 1, 1920, to Ciriacio
and Sociritto (Martinez) Medina.
On Aug. 12, 1948, Medina married the former Dorothy Martinez
in Penasco, N.M.
They moved to Colorado where he worked for the New Jersey
Zinc Co. in Gilman. After 37 years of service, Medina retired to
enjoy his family.
He liked to fish in the summertime but especially loved spending
time with his grandchildren. He marveled at flowers year round
and never grew tired of their beauty.
Medina was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter
Marsha Medina; sisters Pasquella (Santos) Sanchez; and Petrolina
(Baroline) Sanchez; brother Juan Manuel Medina; and niece Jane
Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, Red Cliff; children Gloria
(Ernest) Trujillo; Helen (William) Gallegos; Henry (Betty)
Medina; and Beatrice (Charlie) Espinosa; all in Leadville; Doris
(Dennis) Fresquez; Jerry (Niva) Medina; and Moses (Doris)
Medina; all in Red Cliff; and LouAnn (Michael) Valdez, in
Minturn; brother Joe (Peggy) Medina, Leadville; and sisters
Loyola (Joe) Gallegos, Rodarte, N.M.; and Belinda Medina, Taos,
N.M.
Medina is also survived by 17 grandchildren, six great
grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Sept. 8 at the Red Cliff Gym.
Elder Frank Rhoades officiated.
The Rosary was recited on Sept. 8 at Annunciation Catholic
Church, and Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 9, also at
Annunciation Church. Father Ed Poehlman officiated. Jean Elliot
played the organ and Fred Casaus played guitar and sang.
Medina was laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Red Cliff.
Pallbearers were Rocky Salazar, Ray Romero, Jerome Medina,
James Medina, Mo Medina, Jeremy Medina, Joe Valdez and Gary
and Andrew Espinosa.
Services were followed by a reception at the Red Cliff Gym.
Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home in
Leadville.

Patricia Gaye Kelly
Patricia Gaye Kelly, 50, died on Sept. 13 at her home in
Leadville.
Kelly was born in Ellwood City, Pa., on June 24, 1953, to Robert
and Martha (Irwin) Kelly.
She went to school in Ellwood City and then in 1984 moved to
Colorado, living for many years in Evergreen where she tended
bar and waitressed. She also managed the Seven Eleven in Idaho
Springs.
Nine years ago Kelly moved to Leadville to be near her dear
friend, Dennis Hayes. She loved the outdoors and together, they
spent much of their time camping with her dog Squirty.
Kelly loved to bake cakes and cookies and had always wanted to
start her own bakery business.
Kelly was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her brother, Doug Kelly, Ellwood City, Pa.;
and good friend Dennis Hayes, Leadville.
According to her wishes, Kelly was cremated and scattered in her
beloved mountains.
Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Funeral Home.

Charles John “Chuck” Webster
Charles John “Chuck” Webster, 68, died Sept. 9 at St. Vincent
General Hospital in Leadville.
He was born in Leadville on March 7, 1935, the same day Baby
Doe Tabor was found in her cabin. His parents were Ellis B. and
Mildred (Yones) Webster.
Webster went to school in Leadville and then went to work in his
father’s business, Webster’s Sand & Gravel. After Ellis died, he
bought the business from the estate and continued to run it until
his sudden death.
On July 26, 1986, Webster married the former Lydia Theander in
the meadow at West Tennessee near the gravel pit.
Webster loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and recently
became interested in metal detecting. He loved the mountains and
would never have considered moving away from them. His family
and friends will always remember him saying, “To heck with
those New Yorkers and all their money; this is living!”
Webster was preceded in death by his four-year-old son Scottie;
brother Dave Webster; and sister Millie Tull.
He is survived by his wife Lydia Webster, Leadville; sons Alan
Webster, Log Cabin, Texas; and Daryl (Susie) Webster, Grand
Prairie, Texas; daughter Amy (Arthur) Holland, Hooper, Colo.;
brother George Webster, Leadville; and grandchildren Cari (Kirk)
Holifield; Jason (Kelly) Webster; Sydney Marie Webster; and
Ryan Holland.
Services were held on Sept. 15 at the First United Presbyterian
Church in Leadville. The Reverend Frances McWilliams
officiated, and Dave and Carol Schutte sang accompanied by
Lynette Booth.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank
Shober, Ken Olsen, Jack Brink, Jon Mallette, Chris Roeder and
Floyd Winkler. Honorary pallbearers were Neil Pacheco, Chris
Whitfield and Bob Stamps.
Following the interment, the family received friends at a reception
at the Leadville Eagle’s Lodge.
Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
