Otto Valentine Hammer
Otto Valentine Hammer, 81, of Loveland, died of cancer May 3, 2006, at Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland.
He was born March 2, 1925, in Beaver Township, Wis., to Frank Herman William Hammer and Edna Louisa (Kurschner) Hammer. He was a machinist and retired in 1980.
He served in the U.S. Army and was discharged in November 1946.
He moved to Loveland in 1967 from Minnesota and moved to Wisconsin in 1977. He returned to Loveland in 2002.
He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1974. He loved yard work, music, reading and his pets.
He is survived by a son, Bruce Hammer of Loveland; a daughter, Debbie Gonzales of Loveland; two brothers, Hubert Hammer of Motley, Minn., and Richard Hammer of Isle, Minn.; four sisters, Ann Houk of Minneapolis, Minn., Louise Smith of Sun City West, Ariz., Helen Seehan of Des Moines, Iowa, and Gertrude Peterson of Almena, Wis.; three grandchildren, Ivy Gonzales, Brett Gonzales, and Brittany Hammer, all of Loveland.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Hammer.
Cremation has been conducted.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Jeremiah Kennedy, Silver Lake Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, will officiate.

Edna HOEMMELMANN
HOEMMELMANN, Edna, 87, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Loveland. Funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at First Congregational Church. Interment Loveland Burial Park.

Hilda (Frank) KAUFFMAN
KAUFFMAN, Hilda (Frank), of Loveland. Widow of Jake Kauffman. A celebration of life funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m., Friday, May 12 at First Congregational Church. Interment Loveland Burial Park. Viewing 9:30-10 a.m. Friday, at church prior to services. Memorial contributions to First Congregational Church, Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of Larimer County.
Hilda (Frank) KAUFFMAN, 85, of Loveland died Monday, May 8, 2006, at her home.
She was born on Aug. 24, 1920, in Loveland to Henry and Anna (Lesser) Frank. She attended schools in Loveland. On May 4, 1941, she married Jake Kauffman in Loveland.
Mrs. Kauffman worked at Hewlett-Packard for many years and in the family business, Jake Kauffman and Son, Sand and Gravel. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
Mrs. Kauffman was a lifetime member of the First Congregational Church in Loveland and participated in the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and the Colorado Blizzards.
She enjoyed recreational activities during her life including water skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, camping, playing cards and board games, polka dancing, baking and cooking German foods, gardening, reading, crocheting, attending Denver Broncos games and writing poems.
She and her husband, Jake, accompanied by friends and family, traveled to Hawaii, Spain, Germany, Mexico, the Caribbean and many places within the continental U.S.
She is survived by a son, Frank Kauffman and wife Mary of Loveland; a daughter, Karen Kauffman Fentiman and husband Gary of Greeley; three sisters, Irene Aschenbrenner of Greeley, Mildred Bunker of Greeley, and Ruby Standage of Denver; one brother, Robert Frank and wife Nancy of Holyoke; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake; an infant daughter, Sharon Lee, and an infant son, Stanley Kit; and two brothers, Elmer Frank and Harry Frank.
A celebration of life funeral service will be conducted 10 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2006, at the First Congregational Church, 800 N. Lincoln Ave, with the Rev. Arthur Orth officiating.
Viewing will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel, and from 9:30 a.m.-10 a.m. on Friday at church.
Burial will be in Loveland Burial Park.

Richard Allen KEIM
KEIM, Richard Allen, 80, passed away May 6, 2006, in Loveland. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10 at LifeSpring Covenant Church. Interment at Loveland Burial Park.
Richard Allen KEIM, 80, of Loveland went to be with his Lord on May 6, 2006, at home.
He was born March 20, 1926, in Oak Park, Ill., to George and Zella (McGinty) Keim. Mr. Keim graduated from Mount Carroll High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately following graduation. He served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1951. On Feb. 25, 1956, he married Marianne Jean Zahn in Iowa City, Iowa.
He worked as a technical writer in the aerospace industry for many years, living in Denver and Las Vegas, Nev. In 1971, he began working for Hach Co. in Ames, Iowa, relocating to Loveland in 1977. He retired from Hach Co. in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne (Jean); one son, Russ Keim and wife Joanne of Arlington, Mass.; two daughters, Ann Jamison and husband Mark of Arlington, Neb., and Jill Muhlenbruck of Holden, Mass. He also is survived by six grandchildren, Tracy Jamison, Peter Muhlenbruck, Rebecca Ja-mison, Matthew Jamison, Caroline Jamison and Des-mond Keim; a brother, Keith Keim of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Marian Davis and husband Herb of Oregon, Ill., and Joyce Strength and husband Gerry of Ocean Springs, Miss.; seven nieces and six nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law, Leland Zahn and Howard Dunn, and one sister-in-law, Beverly Keim.
Dick loved the Lord and his family very much. He also enjoyed spending time with friends, golfing and traveling with his wife. He will be dearly missed.
Visitation was Tuesday.
The funeral service was held Wednesday at LifeSpring Covenant Church.

James Russell Mathews
James Russell Mathews, 70, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Loveland, died May 4, 2006, at the Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa, after a battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 1, 1935, in Haines City, Fla., to Rossie Lee and William Addis Mathews.
He graduated from Haines City High School in 1953, and served in the National Guard and later the U.S. Air Force, where he served until 1961. He married Lucille Feuchtwanger in 1960.
He graduated from Iowa State University in 1967, with a degree in electrical engineering.
He worked as an engineer for Hewlett-Packard Co. in Loveland from 1972 until his retirement in 1990.
To be nearer to his son and his family, he and his wife moved to Mesa, Ariz., this past February. Seeing this move come about gave him much comfort in the last few weeks of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille; a son, David and daughter-in-law, Holly of Queen Creek, Ariz.; a sister Vera Mae Jennings and brother, Norman Mathews of Haines City; two grandchildren.
Cremation will be held at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Mesa.
Memorial services will be at a later date with family and friends in Haines City.

William C. Northrup
William C. Northrup, 89, of Loveland died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Loveland Good Samaritan Village, where he had resided for several years.
Bill was born on July 18, 1916, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to William and Hannah Barb Northrup. He graduated from Munhall High School in 1934 and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1938, with a degree in metallurgical engineering. He spent his career working in the steel industry and retired from Great Lakes Steel in Detroit as chief metallurgist in 1979.
Bill married Gwendolyn Homer of Pittsburgh in 1939. After having lived in several states, they retired in Cape Coral, Fla., and lived there for many years until Gwen died in 1998, and he then moved to Colorado to be close to his family.
Bill is survived by his two sons, Greg Northrup of Loveland and Tom Northrup of San Diego, as well as five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Bill and Gwen were devoted to family and loved to travel. Bill loved life, his church and people. He also enjoyed sports and music and could often be found singing with a piano player or dancing with anyone who would dance with him.
Bill was a godly role model for his family and will remain a positive influence for generations to come. He will surely be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the staff of Good Sam for their loving care. Bill’s life will be remembered at a memorial service at All Saints’ Episcopal Church on Friday, May 12, at 10 a.m.

Warren E. Rhoadarmer
Rhoadarmer, Warren E., 94, passed away May 11, 2006, in Fort Collins. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Allnutt Hunter Chapel. Funeral service 11 a.m. Wednesday at Allnutt Hunter Chapel. Interment Loveland Burial Park.
Warren E.Rhoadarmer 94, died May 11, 2006, in Fort Collins.
He was born to Harry and Martha (Farnum) Rhoadarmer on Oct. 18, 1911 in Keota. He graduated from Pierce High School in 1929, then went on to complete trade school to become a welder.
Warren was a welder for Eaton Metal for 22 years, retiring in 1976. He lived in Loveland for more than 50 years.
He married Helen Webb on Dec. 15, 1933, in Ault.
Warren and Helen loved to travel; he was an exceptional woodworker and an avid gardener. He always did his own cooking and gardening while he was at Good Samaritan. He was an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his sister Irma Sidwell of Estes Park; grandson, Michael Rhoadarmer and wife, Patty, of Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, a son Dwight, two brothers and one sister.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday May 16, at Allnutt Hunter Chapel. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Allnutt Hunter Chapel with interment at Loveland Burial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to H.M.S. Richards Elementary School in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.

Wes V. Rice
Wes V. Rice was born in Anaconda, Mont., on Friday, Sept. 13, 1957. He unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006.
Cremation has been completed, and private services will be held at a later date.
Wes met Greg Suniga on Aug. 27, 1986. They were recently discussing plans for their 20th anniversary. Wes had many accomplishments throughout his career, with the most recent being owner and operator of Casino Rush, a transportation service to Black Hawk and Cripple Creek.
Survivors include his life-partner, Greg, and their dog, Tyberius; his brother, Duane, and wife Rhonda and their daughters Page and Laura; and other family members throughout Kansas and Colorado.
He also had many wonderful friends and relationships that were very dear to him, both personally and through Casino Rush.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wes Rice Memorial Fund in care of Allnutt Riverside Chapel, 1530 Riverside Ave., Fort Collins, CO 80524.

Joseph Strovas
Joseph Strovas, 84, of Loveland died May 13, 2006, in Loveland.
He was born April 4, 1922, in Black Diamond, Colo., to Blaz and Maria Strovas.
He married Ann Oswerk on May 22, 1943, in Walsenburg.
Mr. Strovas served in the U.S. Army and was a life member of the Borger, Texas, Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Strovas; a son, Jim Strovas and wife Julie of Loveland; a brother, Louis Strovas and wife Irene of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Snyder of California and Rose Felice of Denver; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Joseph Strovas, three brothers and five sisters.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Wednesday at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Stoddard Funeral Home, followed by interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Alterra Sterling House in care of Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., Greeley, CO 80634.

BARR:
Freda Green Barr, 97, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, formerly of Fort Collins, died Dec. 6, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Merle Green, a former Larimer County treasurer; and her second husband, Leslie Barr.
Services will be 3 p.m. todaySunday at First United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant.
Burial will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 15, at Loveland Burial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mount Pleasant Library or the library at First United Methodist Church.

BOETTGER:
Betty L. Boettger of Loveland. Wife of Carlos W. Boettger. Private services have been conducted.
Betty Lorraine Boettger passed away in peace Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, in the Hospice of Larimer County Unit after a short illness.
A fourth generation Coloradan, Betty graduated from Denver East High School.
She met her life mate, Carlos W. Boettger, while working at Denver University.
Spending over 50 years together, Betty and Carlos found joy in God, country, home, family and friends.
We, the following, will miss and forever love Betty: husband Carlos; daughter, son-in-law and grandson Charles W. and Elle Sheppard and Hudson; daughter Carleecq Boettger; brothers Dr. George Richard Snyder and family, and Franklin A. Snyder.
We thank the health care professionals at McKee Medical Center, in particular in the ER team and second floor staff.
We especially thank the Hospice of Larimer County staff for their expertise, care and devotion.

Dora B. Coon of Longmont, formerly of Loveland. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Rux Funeral Home, 313 Market St., Galva, Ill. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday at Rux Funeral Home. Interment will be in Galva Cemetery, Galva, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Hill United Methodist Church in care of Allnutt-Hunter Chapel.
Dora B. Coon, 96, formerly of Loveland, died Dec. 10, 2001, at Longmont Life Care Center.
She was born June 29, 1905, in Knoxville, Ill., to Peter Warner Lundeen and Emma Albertina Larson. She married Edson Lewis Coon Oct. 14, 1925, in Cambridge, Ill. He preceded her in death April 18, 1990.
Mrs. Coon lived in Knoxville for 17 years and left in 1922. She lived in the Galva, Ill., area until 1929; she lived in the Cambridge, Ill., area until 1972. She was a resident of Loveland from 1986 until January 2001, when she moved to Longmont.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Geneseo, Ill., for nine years.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, playing games and doing crossword puzzles.
She was a member of Bishop Hill United Methodist Church in Bishop Hill, Ill. She was a charter member of County Center Grange and participated in Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her daughter Martha J. Hamlin of Longmont; daughter-in-law Shirley J. Coon-Hazen of Oneida, Ill.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters Mildred Rapp of Geneseo and Margaret Galbreath of Galesburg, Ill.; sister-in-law Doris Lundeen of Galesburg; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edson Coon; son Donald Coon; brothers Russell, Robert and Clifford Lundeen; sisters Beulah Kenney and Agnes Diesinger; son-in-law Floyd Hamlin; and grandson-in-law Charles LaTulippe.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Rux Funeral Home, 313 Market St., Galva, Ill.
Interment will be in Galva Cemetery.
