Tribute: Joyce Pratt Berrett was born in Flint, Mich., to Francis Taylor Pratt and Alpha Madalene Roberts Pratt. She married Mark R. Berrett in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 27, 1950, with Elder Harold B. Lee officiating.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and had an unwavering faith and testimony that the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. Mrs. Berrett loved the Lord and her family. She devoted her life to being a mother and homemaker. She and Mark raised their children in Utah, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Texas, Colorado and Illinois.
She died Saturday of causes incident to diabetes and heart failure. She was surrounded by her family at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City.
Survivors: Her husband, Mark, and their children, David Berrett and wife Terry, Yvonne Bennett and husband Bruce, Lynnette Butler and husband Donald, Carolyn Sanders and husband Stephen, Jeffrey Berrett and his wife Susan, and Michelle Clark and husband Lorin; daughter-in-law Kaylene Loveday; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Judith Burgess and husband David of Indian River, Mich.
Preceded in death by: Her parents; her sister, Janet; and her son, Thomas.
Funeral services: 11 a.m. Thursday, in the Salt Lake Ensign Stake Center, 135 A St., Salt Lake City.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East S. Temple St., Salt Lake City, and from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to the funeral service.
Interment: Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah.
Note: The family wishes to express its thanks and appreciation to the doctors and nursing staffs at the LDS Hospital and the Intermountain Medical Center for their excellent care.

Bernadine Carson
June 7, 1923-Dec. 12, 2007
Age: 84
Residence: Greeley
Tribute: Bernadine Marie Carson was born in Byers to Leonard Frank and Geneva Juanita (Gorham) Partridge. She attended Loveland High School. On Sept. 23, 1940, she married James Orville Eugene Hembree in Loveland. They had five children. They later divorced and she married Veryl A. Carson in Denver. They also later divorced.
She was a bookkeeper for most of her life for various companies. After retirement, she worked for the Greeley Tribune in the advertising department for a few years. She loved to do ceramics and go camping. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren very much.
She died Wednesday at Fairacres Nursing Home after a short stay.
Survivors: Three daughters, Sharon Floth and husband George of Kuna, Idaho, Carol Getzfred and husband Bob of Elgin, Neb., and Orvilla Bevins of Elgin, Neb.; one son, Richard E. Hembree and wife Cheryl of Greeley; one sister, Elsie Yockey and husband Jim of Meteetsee, Wyo.; one sister-in-law, Kathy Hodges, of Ozark, Ark. She also is survived by two half-sisters, Waiva Spezze of Lakewood and Zae Ruth Nelson of Denver; and a step-grandmother, Ruby Goreham of Grand Junction; 16 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: Her parents; son, Jackie L. Hembree; husband and father of their children, James O. Hembree; two sisters, Melba Wetzler and Leota Bauer; one brother, Robert Hodges; and one grandson, Dale Dennis Jr.
Services: A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be spread in the mountains that she always loved.

Elsie Reichert
April 26, 1922 - Dec. 14, 2007
Age: 85
Residence: Greeley
Tribute: Mrs. Reichert was born in Greeley to Oscar and Elizabeth (Linker) Rohn. She grew up in Greeley and attended schools in the Greeley/La Salle area. She was a homemaker and enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading, jigsaw puzzles, embroidery and crocheting, and she really enjoyed playing Bunco. She loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ.
Elsie died peacefully Friday at Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado in Greeley, surrounded by her loving family.
Survivors: One son, Marvin Reichert of Greeley; seven daughters, Doris Schaefer and husband Gerald of Greeley, Esther Cleek and husband Glenn of Arvada, Dorothy Elrod of Thornton, Patricia Brunner and husband Leonard of Ocean View, Hawaii, Janet Rudd and husband John, of Casper, Wyo., Nancy McComber and husband Ray of Pagosa Springs, and Joanne Terriere and husband Albert of Weldona; two sisters, Frieda (Cliff) Dilka of Kersey and Betty (Doyle) McCarthy of La Salle; three brothers, Reinholt Rohn of Greeley and Harry Rohn and Donald Rohn of Ault; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: Her husband; her parents; a daughter, Margaret; a son, Larry; two grandchildren, Randy Schaefer and Sheri Fisher; two sisters, Lydia Bernhardt and Esther Reichert; and two brothers, Oscar Jr. and Frederick Rohn.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's United Church of Christ of Greeley.
Visitation: An hour prior to the service.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Margaret Szadzinski
Sept. 21, 1968-Dec. 14, 2007
Age: 39
Residence: Windsor
Tribute: Margaret "Gosia" Szadzinski was born in Poland to Jozef and Janina Ratulowski. In 1982, she immigrated to the United States along with her parents and two sisters.
Mrs. Szadzinski enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking. She was a spectacular cook. She worked hard to provide the best for her family and never failed to put a smile on her face for others. Margaret will be remembered for her radiant beauty inside and out as well as her genuine kindness which touched the lives of many.
She died Friday, Dec. 14, in a car crash after dropping her two children off at school. She was on her way to work.
Survivors: Her husband, Andrzej; her children, Lidzia and Jedrus; her mother, Janina Ratulowski; her grandmother, Anna Podczerwinska; two sisters, Anna Staszel and Agnieszka Las, and many others who loved her dearly.
Preceded in death by: Her father, Jozef Ratulowski; and her twin sons, Teofil and Jozef.
Funeral Mass: 11:30 a.m. today , at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church 1250 7th St., Windsor.
Interment: 11 a.m., Thursday at Loveland Burial Park.

Claude Waldvogle
April 23, 1937- Dec. 9, 2007
Age: 70
Residence: Federal Heights, formerly of Greeley
Tribute: Claude "Spike" E. Waldvogle was born in Akron to William and Lois (Sundquist) Waldvogle. He moved to Greeley when he was 11. He attended Greeley schools and graduated from College High School in 1955. He was in the service from 1960-62, serving his tour in Germany. In 1963, he married Sharon Hoffman. They had one son and later divorced. While living in the Greeley area, he worked for Garnsey & Wheeler and many years for Bachman's in the service and repair department. He moved to California after marrying Lavonne Knaus. They later divorced. He moved back to the Denver area to be close to his family and friends. At the time of his death, he was employed by Papa John's in Denver.
Mr. Waldvogle loved country and western music and playing the guitar. He enjoyed flying and got his pilot's license. He also liked to go to the dog track with friends. He was an active member of the American Legion of Akron and was a past member of the Moose Lodge of Greeley.
Mr. Waldvogle died at his home in Federal Heights.
Survivors: His son, Wesley Waldvogle of Toccoa, Ga.; his granddaughter, Lindsey Waldvogle of Toccoa; three sisters, Billie Jessie of Akron, Thiry Richardson of Arvada, and Bonnie Menzel of La Salle; a brother, Gene Waldvogle of Littleton; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: His parents and one brother.
Services: Noon Wednesday, at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 N. Grant St., Thornton. Cremation.
Interment: Later at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Quincy Hawkins Jr.
July 21, 1968-Nov. 25, 2007
Age: 39
Residence: Windsor
Tribute: Quincy Bernard Hawkins Jr. was born July 21, 1968 in Milwaukee, Wis. He was the first and only son of The Rev. Quincy B. and Brenda Elaine (Smith) Hawkins. He grew up in Milwaukee and received his early education in the Milwaukee school system. Having moved to Jackson, Tenn., in 1984 as a junior in high school, he completed his senior year, and graduated from Jackson Central Merry High School in June 1985. He enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from high school. He was the youngest sergeant of his class and was promoted many times during his career.
Sgt. Hawkins participated in Operation Desert Shield/Storm as a Missile System Maintenance Specialist (AWACS) and was honorably discharged in 1993. He received an Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, AF Training Ribbon, AF Longevity Service Award and an AF Outstanding Unit Award.
On Oct. 20, 1995, He married Melissa Santomaso in Jackson. They lived in Windsor until his death.
Mr. Hawkins accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by his father, Quincy Sr. He was deeply religious and was a very diligent student of the Bible. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He also enjoyed sports, animals and spending time with his wife.
Mr. Hawkins died peacefully in his sleep Nov. 25 in Windsor.
Survivors: His wife, Melissa Hawkins of Windsor; his parents, Quincy B. and Brenda Hawkins of Jackson; four sisters, Deborah Tyus and husband Maurice and Sonya Shutes, all of Jackson, and Tracey Hawkins and Tamara Nealey, both of Milwaukee; his maternal grandmother, Mazell Smith, and his paternal grandfather, Sam Hawkins, both of Jackson; and a many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceded in death by: His maternal grandfather, L.E. Smith, and paternal grandmother, Helen Hawkins.
Services: Services will be conducted in Jackson.
Interment: Hurt's Memorial Gardens, Jackson.

A.J. Knickerbocker
June 21, 1921-Nov. 15, 2007
Age: 86
Residence: Wauneta, Neb., formerly of Greeley
Tribute: The Rev. Arnold John "A.J." Knickerbocker was born in Ontonagon, Mich., to Franklin L. and Mary (Papineau) Knickerbocker. He was part of a large family of 19 children. He graduated from Ontonagon High School in 1940. He was a good athlete and loved football, track and basketball. He also played trombone in the band and sang in the high school Glee Club
In 1934, Mr. Knickerbocker attended a Bible Camp, where he made a commitment to the Lord. In September 1942, he joined the military service. He served most of his time in the 360th Army Air Force at McClelland Field in California, where he played trombone in the Army Band.
On April 5, 1945, he married Anne Mae Vincent on a "delay en route" in Ontonagon. They had met at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He was in Fort Meade in Maryland by April 11, 1945, to go overseas and arrived in France on May 8, 1945, V.E. Day, the day the war ended.
The Rev. Knickerbocker's ministry preparation began at Moody Bible Institute. He later attended Northwestern College in Minneapolis and graduated in 1951. His first church was in Ontonagon. There he built a church building, North Land Gospel Mission.
The Rev. Knickerbocker then went to Ocqueoc Gospel Mission, a Lower Michigan country church and later to St. Charles, Minn., to St. Charles Bible Church.
Because of health problems, he moved to Denver and then to Grace Bible Church at Sterling for 12 years. In 1980, he was called to Christian Union Church in Stratton, Neb. While serving in Stratton, he guided the congregation in building the new sanctuary. They began building in November 1980 and finished Nov. 5, 1981.
The Rev. Knickerbocker received the call from Greeley Alliance in 1985. He served there until a heart bypass kept him from full-time service. Music was a major part of his ministry. He loved to sing and played the trombone and the saw.
He retired in August 1993 and moved to Wauneta to be near his daughter, Joy Wheeler, and family.
The Rev. Knickerbocker died Nov. 15 at his home in Wauneta.
Survivors: Hs wife, Ann of Wauneta; a daughter, Joy Wheeler and husband Rod of Wauneta; two sons, Mark and wife Carol of Wheatland, Wyo., and Forest and wife Susan of Clermont, Ga.; a sister, Ruth Killeron of Ontonagon; a sister-in-law, Shirley Bulger of Sparland, Ill.; a half brother, Grant Papineau of Beulah, Mich.; four grandchildren, Anita (Wheeler) and husband Todd Colwell, Roxey (Wheeler) and husband Matt Miller, Marty Wheeler and wife Renee and Ryan Knickerbocker; five step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: Services were Nov. 19 at Hamlet Union Church, Hamlet, Neb.
Interment: Hamlet Cemetery with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts of Palisade, Neb.

Earl Musselman
July 25, 1983-Nov. 28, 2007
Age: 24
Residence: Fort Lupton
Tribute: Earl P. Musselman was born in Denver to George L. and Karen S. (Addis) Musselman. He was a 2001 graduate of Fort Lupton High School and worked the majority of his life for George's True Value Hardware, now known as George's Rental and Supply, in Fort Lupton.
Mr. Musselman lettered in soccer and baseball in high school. He was active in his church youth group. His passion was sports. He was an avid Rockies fan and an excellent golfer. He loved collecting sports memorabilia. He had a unique sense of humor and loved to tease his friends.
Mr. Musselman died Wednesday in Fort Lupton.
Survivors: His parents, George and Diana (Nichols) Musselman of Fort Lupton and Grand Junction and Karen and Jerry Sanders of Greeley; his step-grandmother, Mary Lou Ridenour of Molina; a sister, Jennifer Farley of Grand Junction; three stepbrothers, John Nelson and Tom Nelson, both of Grand Junction, and Tom Sanders of Platteville; a stepsister, Sandi Harmon of Brighton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Lupton.
Notes: Memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the First United Methodist Church Youth Program, 306 Park Ave., Fort Lupton, CO 80621. Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Arden Smith
July 8, 1962-Nov. 10, 2007
Age: 45
Residence: Lake Havasu City, Ariz., formerly of Windsor
Tribute: Michael Arden Smith was born July 8, 1962 in Colby, Kan. The son of Arden and Carol Ann Smith, he graduated from Windsor High School in 1981. He attended Aims Community College for two years, 1982-84.
On Jan. 18, 1992, he married Leigh Anne Shetler-Smith and moved to Lake Havasu City in 2004 from Aliso Viejo, Calif.
Mr. Smith enjoyed boating on the lake, coaching girls softball, Jeeping in the desert, cooking a great steak on the barbecue and spending time with his family and friends.
Mr. Smith died Nov. 10 in Lake Havasu City while riding in his bright orange sand rail in Standard Wash.
Survivors: His wife and daughter, Leigh Anne and Mykaela; his father, Arden Smith; and his brother, Rick Smith.
Preceded in death by: His mother, Carolyn Ann Runnells.
Services: Memorial services were Nov. 16 at Lietz-Fraze Chapel in Lake Havasu City with a Celebration of Life afterward.
