Minnie McPherson

Minnie Helen McPherson, former Craig resident and longtime Rifle, Colo., resident died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, in Weatherford, Texas. She was 82.

Funeral services are pending and Rifle Funeral Home is making the arrangements.

Reynaldo Martinez

Reynaldo Martinez of Craig died Friday, July 24, 1998, in his home. Services

and interment will be in Mora, N.M., in care of Roger's Mortuary of Las Vegas, N.M.

Ronald Lee Gelvin

1947 - 1998

Ronald Lee Gelvin, formerly of Craig, Colo., died July 17, 1998, in Myrtle Point, Ore. He was 51.

He was born Nov. 17, 1947.

Ronald was an avid outdoorsman, a funny storyteller and a great father.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen Gelvin, and her children of Myrtle Point; son, Tim Gelvin of Centralia, Wash.; and daughters, Jennifer (Israel) Holloway and Kourtney Gelvin of Craig.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Gabriel and Kyrah.

Oceanside services will be held July 27, 1998.

Emily W. Hamaker

1917 - 1998

Emily W. Hamaker, formerly of Craig, Colo., died Aug. 3, 1998, at the Routt Memorial Hospital in Steamboat Springs, Colo. She was 81.

Emily Hamaker was born to Alfred and Eleanore Watson June 24, 1917, in Preston, Idaho.

She married Gilbert Hamaker.

Hamaker was employed at the McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah before moving to Colorado.

Hamaker is survived by a daughter, Judy (Ray) Nelson of Odgen; sons, Dennis (Renee) Hamaker of Craig, Lee (Colleen) Hamaker of Jensen, Utah, and Tim Hamaker of Ogden; six grandchildren, Chance, Bobby, Jessica, Erin, Kevin and Stacy; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Packum and Merle Arnold of Layton, Utah, and brother Marion (Elva) Watson of Riverdale, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her husband and 12 sisters and brothers.

Services were held in Ogden. Interment was at the Ogden City Cemetery.

Dorothy Louise Redmon

1907-1998

Dorothy Louise Redmon of Grand Junction, Colo., died at her home Aug. 1, 1998. She was 90.

Redmon was born to Alexander and Lydia (Hazeltine) Gammill Oct. 14, 1907, in Olathe, Kan.

She moved to Routt County when she was 4 years old, lived in Hayden, Colo., Long Gulch, Colo., Craig, Colo., and in 1975 moved to Grand Junction.

She married Walter Mansfield June 4,1925, who died in September, 1972.

She married Leether Thomas Redmon Aug. 17, 1975, in Craig.

She was a member of the Craig Rebekah Lodge, VFW Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, Elk's Does and belonged to the First Christian Church.

Redmon enjoyed dancing, crafts, people and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband; sons, James C. (Ethel) Mansfield of Clifton, Ariz., Charles L. (Beth) Mansfield of Craig, Richard L. (Gladys) Mansfield of Craig and step-son, Don Redmon of Burlington, Colo.; daughter, Jerrie (Earl) Simpson of Craig; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marzella Bowden of Kingfisher, Olka., and Velma Helppie of Boise, Idaho; brothers, Carl Gammill (Joyce) and Lawrence Gammill of Golden, Colo.

Redmon was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Mansfield; sons, Clemen Dale, Jackie and Bill Mansfield; grandchildren, Janine Simpson, Terry Mansfield and Diana Lecompte; parents, Alexander and Lydia Gammill; sisters, Ester Bryan and Hazel Hamilton; and brother, Walter Gammill.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 6, 1998, at the First Christian Church in Craig.

Mervin Johnson officiated the service with organist Anne Carr and soloist Chaeli Mulholl with selections of "In The Garden," "Amazing Grace," "Take My Hand" and "Precious Lord."

Pallbearers were Allen Mansfield, Jamie Mansfield, Tony Mansfield, Lyle Reed, Dale Mansfield, Jack Mansfield, John Simpson and Mike White.

Interment was at the Craig Cemetery with graveside services by the VFW Auxiliary.

Joseph Hammat

Joseph Hammat of Craig died Saturday in his home. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Grant Mortuary.

Interment will follow in the Craig Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Toys for Tots program or the Interfaith Food Bank in Care of Grant Mortuary.

Joseph A. "Sonny" Hammat Jr.

1930 - 1998

Joseph A. Hammat Jr. of Craig, Colo., died Aug. 15, 1998. He was 67 years old.

Hammat was born to Joseph A. Sr. and Allie Lea (Lippard) Hammat Aug. 26, 1930, in Lansing, Ohio.

He spent his childhood in Craig and later entered the U.S. Army and served six years during the Korean conflict.

He previously lived in Crowley, La., Florida, Mississippi, Texas and Wyoming.

Hammat married Joy J. Allen April 27, 1962, in Naturita, Colo.

He worked for Continental Oil Company for 19 years and as an operator for Moffat County Road and Bridge for 19 years.

He was a former member of the Elks Club, enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, camping his grandkids and his two dogs, Tasha and Koko.

Hammat is survived by his wife, Joy, of Craig; daughters, Linda Gledhill of Craig, Lynn Stehle of Craig, Penny Hughes of Grand Junction, Colo., and Lorna (Bruce) Adams of Kremmling, Colo.; sister, Betty (Lee) Patton, of Craig and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by very special friends E. J. and Penny Bunk and Jane Henderson of Craig.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Catherine, and son, Jack Hammat.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Aug. 19, 1998, at Grant Mortuary with Richard Henderson officiating.

Anne Carr was organist. Musical selections were "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Jeanne Stalcar, Carol Buchanan, Mary Lynne James and Denise Whitney. "Shenandoah" by Denise Whitney and Jeanne Stalcar and "Danny Boy" by Jeanne Stalcar.

Pallbearers were Brian Bunk, Clifford Stehle, Aaron Ruybalid, Joey McPherson, Randy Norman and Jody McPherson.

Honorary pallbearers were Saed Tayara, Larry Hughes, Gary Garrett, Bobby Jo Gledhill, Duane Johnson and Lee Patton.

Interment was at the Craig Cemetery. Graveside services were by the Veterans of Foriegn Wars (VFW) Post No. 4265.

Memorial donations may be made to the Toys for Tots or Interfaith Food Bank in care of Grant Mortuary.

Alyshia Lee King

1979 - 1998

Alyshia Lee King of Craig, Colo., was pronounced dead at The Memorial Hospital Aug. 17, 1998. She was 19 years old.

King was born to Brent and Sandra (Oakes) King April 20, 1979, in Jerome, Idaho.

She spent her childhood in Richfield, Idaho, moving to Craig six years ago. She was graduated from Moffat County High School in 1997 and was a cheerleader and played basketball.

She worked as a desk clerk for TravelLodge Motel and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

King is survived by mother Sandra and step-father Larry Mullen of Craig; brothers, Luke King, of Craig and step-brother, Shawn (Mika) Mullen, of Craig; sisters, Amber (Sean) Kane, of Craig, Tammy King of Haley, Idaho, step-sister, Elizabeth (Mark) Dietrich, of Craig and step-sister, Hope (Patrick) Pathkiller of Wayne, Okla.; grandmother, Iona (Roy) Miller, of Wendell, Idaho; boyfriend, Tony Grajeda, and his parents Shamra and Tony, and his sisters, Stephanie Grajeda and Andrea Steinhouse.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 22, 1998, at the First Christian Church officiated by Beryl Wright.

Organist was Anne Carr, with musical selections of "Tears In Heaven" "My Heart Will Go On" and "Have I Told You Lately."

Pallbearers were Luke King, Tony Grajeda, Sean Kane, Larry Mullen, Shawn Mullen and Troy Swainston.

Interment was at the Craig Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Grant Mortuary.

Larry Dale Lanier

1934 - 1998

Larry Dale Lanier of Level Run Road, Hurt, died Aug. 16, 1998 in Lynchburg General Hospital.

Lanier was born to Dews and Fannie (Emerson) Lanier Sept. 4, 1934 in Pittsylvania County.

He was the husband of Betty (Keesee) Lanier. They raised Simmental cattle at their farm in Hurt.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, on the Board of Directors of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative since 1981, the former owner of Altavista Farm Service, and an employee of C.T. Farm and Country of Lynchburg.

He attended St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Lanier is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Kimberly Lanier Robbins, of Waynesboro; brothers, Dr. William J. Lanier, of Greensboro, NC, Sidney P. (Gaynelle) Lanier, and Carroll V. (Shirley) Lanier, all of Hurt, Ralph D. (Shirley) Lanier, of Craig, Colo., E. Paige (Marian) Lanier, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Fredrick B. (Barbara) Lanier, of Madison Heights; sisters, Doris L. (Paul) Cocke, Linda L. (Raymond) Rice, all of Hurt, Marian L. Brooks, of Scottsville and Nancy Lanier of Virginia Beach.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Jo Lanier.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 19, 1998 at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev., Latta Terry. Internment was at the Altavista Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Altavista Life Saving Crew or local churches of your choice.

H. Raymond Bunn

H. Raymond Bunn, of Hayden, Colo., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1998 in Steamboat Springs.

Funeral services are pending.

William C. "Bill" Zobel

1944-1998

William C. "Bill" Zobel of Meeker died Aug. 15, 1998, in Meeker, Colo. He was 54 years old.

Zobel was born to John and Lorene (Gooch) Zobel February 1, 1944. He spent his childhood in Colorado graduating from Moffat County High School in Craig, Colo., in 1962. He attended the University of Wyoming and Mesa College. Zobel graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He was a licensed funeral director in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado for 40 years.

He married Yvonna Blair Aug. 17, 1963, in Craig.

Zobel owned and operated the funeral home in Meeker from 1976 to 1995. He sold the funeral home and became in charge of the Highland Cemetery. He was also the Rio Blanco County Deputy Coroner.

Zobel served on the Meeker Town Council and was chief and a volunteer for the Meeker Fire Department. He was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church and served on the vestry.

Zobel is survived by his wife, Yvonna; children, Michael D. Zobel of Fort Collins, Colo., Theresa (Torn) More of Littleton, Colo., and Maurnee (Shawn) Scanlon of Waxahachia, Texas; brothers, Charles Zobel of Palisade, Colo., and Bruce Zobel of Craig, Colo.; grandchildren, Heather, Kaleb and Kelcie Zobel of Fort Collins.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 18, 1998, at St. James Episcopal Church in Meeker with Reverend Paul Brisbane officiating. Interment was at the Highland Cemetery in Meeker.

Donations may be made to the William C. Zobel Education Fund, P.O. Box 1190, Meeker, CO 81641.

Minnie Helen McPherson

1916 - 1998

Minnie Helen McPherson of Rifle, Colo., died July 21, 1998, at Campbell Hospital in Weatherford, Texas.

She was born to John and Catherine Stocker April 15, 1916, in Truman, Minn. She was raised in Minnesota and later moved to San Diego, Calif.

McPherson married James Edgar McPherson Aug. 29, 1946, in San Diego.

She had previously lived in Kremmling, Colo., and Craig, Colo., before moving to Rifle, Colo., in 1965.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, James Edgar McPherson; children, Glen McPherson of Green River, Wyo., Jeanne (Richard) Smith of Craig, Duane McPherson of Rifle, Janice (Grady) Lewis of Burleson, Texas, and Kathleen (Robert) Germain of Weatherford, Texas; sister, Sadie Prasser of San Diego; eleven grandchildren, Cheryl (Mike) Aguilera, Clint (Dorrie) McPherson, Kirk (Trisha) Smith, Darric Smith, Opie Smith, Ryan McPherson, Jamie McPherson, Philip McPherson, James Lewis, Rebecca Lewis and Nicholas Germain; great-grandchildren, Joey Shawler, Alexis Aguilera and Keith Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 2 p.m. July 25, 1998, at the First Assembly of God Church in Rifle.

Mable J. Rauch

1919 - 1998

Mable J. Rauch of Craig, Colo., died July 20, 1998, at Valley View Manor in Craig.

Rauch was born to James and Rosa (Lord) Paintin on March 9, 1919, in Morland, Kan., where she spent her childhood.

She married Alvin H. Rauch July 31, 1943, in Dodge City, Kan. They lived in WaKeeney, Kan., until they moved to Craig in 1957.

Rauch worked from her home and was a volunteer at the hospital for several years.

She enjoyed outdoor activities, walking, sewing and caring for others.

Rauch is survived by daughters, Doris (Frank) Sadvar and Shirley Bailey; sisters, Nellie (Jesse) Clark, Ruby Hildebrand and Grace Derman; sister-in-law, Delores Paintin; grandchildren, Frank A. Sadvar, Michelle M. Kent, Lori C. (Mike) Rosendahl, Jennifer S. (Rob Dunn) Schreinert and Jay E. Mascarenas; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin H. Rauch; parents, James and Rosa Paintin; two brothers, David and William; and sister, Twila.

Services were held at 11 a.m. July 24, 1998, at Grant Mortuary in Craig.

Mark Gorham officiated the service with Anne Carr as organist and Wanda Brown as soloist. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden."

Pallbearers were Buck Rauch, Rob Dunn, Glen Cox, Mike Rosendahl, Gordon Jones and Jay E. Mascarenas.

Interment was at the Craig Cemetery.
