Tribute: David Sherman Fry was born in Almartha, Mo., to George and Elsie Pearl (Freeman) Fry. He grew up in the Ozarks of Missouri, at 18 moved to Kansas and has lived in Colorado since 1961.
In 1949, he married Doris June Ray in 1949. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Fry was an auto body mechanic who owned his own businesses, D&F in Longmont and Auto Reconstructors in Boulder. He enjoyed leatherwork and made many craft items, as well as saddles and bridles. When he was young, he enjoyed hunting. He also loved horses, did horseshoeing and enjoyed country music.
Kids, his own and his grandchildren, were his life. He loved being around them and doing things with and for them.
Mr. Fry died Sunday at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Survivors: His six children, Kirk D. Fry and wife Denise of Firestone, Ken D. Fry and wife Ruth of Westminster, Cindy D. Smith and husband Brian of Buhl, Idaho, Debbie F. Reynoldson and husband Slaton of Lusk, Wyo., Kurtis W. Fry of Greeley, and Kaylynn What of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Charley Fry and wife Allie of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Ruby Thompson and husband James and Dorothy Fry, all of Greensburg, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: His parents and two daughters, Sherry Lawrence and Sandra Faye Fry.
Services: 10 a.m. today at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont.
Interment: Foothills Gardens of Memory, Longmont.
Visitation: 9-10 a.m. today at Howe Mortuary.
Debra Jo Mares

Residence: Greeley
Tribute: Debra Jo Mares was born in Greeley to Isaias and Gloria (Arellano) Mascarenas in Greeley. She was raised and attended schools in Greeley. She married David Mares and later divorced.
Mrs. Mares enjoyed music, especially the Beatles. She loved to sing and dance. She was a spiritual person and had a strong faith. She loved her children and grandchildren and her dog, Casper.
Mrs. Mares died Sunday in Greeley.
Survivors: Two daughters, Terri Mascarenas and husband Josh Ehrlich and Nicole Santana and husband Tony of Pueblo; two sons, Phillip Quintana of Evans and Jerimy Mares and wife Connie of Pueblo; her mother, Gloria Mascarenas of Evans; three sisters, Patsy Trujillo and husband Juan of Greeley, Lorraine Powell and husband Brent of Evans and Victoria Trujillo and husband Jimmy of Cheyenne; a brother, Joe Mascarenas and wife Martha of Greeley; eight grandsons and a granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by: A daughter Joy Quintana; a special friend, Gary Quintana; a brother Phillip Mascarenas; her father, Isaias Mascarenas; and a nephew Gene Trujillo.
Services:Memorial services will be Saturday.

Robert Wade Miller

Tribute: Robert Wade "Bob" Miller was born in Sand Point, Idaho, to Norman and Betty Miller.
On May 23, 1970, he married Kathryn Louise Todd at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Littleton.
Mr. Miller and his family moved to Colorado in 1957. He worked in construction and heavy equipment for several years before getting started in the natural stone business -- marble and granite. He started with a small company doing restoration of stone in buildings, such as the state capitol and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Denver's oldest Catholic Church, and has done work as far away as Louisville, Ky., on a 26-story building for the Heinz Holding Co.
Mr. Miller did work in Greeley and helped the company doing the Monfort home, as well as others. He owned Mile High Marble & Granite Inc. in Littleton and the Cherry Creek Stone Works Ltd. in Englewood.
Mr. Miller's hobbies were collecting antique John Deere farm tractors and attending tractor shows in Colorado and surrounding states, and if there was a little time left, he did some fishing with his Dad. He participated in tractor pulls with his wife, Kathy. His dog, Maddie, was his animal friend.
Mr. Miller died Monday at his home in Littleton after battling and illness.
Survivors: His wife, Kathy Miller of Littleton; two sons, Glenn M. Miller and David G. Miller, both of Littleton; his parents, Norman and Betty Miller of Littleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Jane Miller of Highlands Ranch; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Cheryl and Dennis Fendrich of Greeley and Lori A. Miller of Englewood; a grandson, Ruben, and a granddaughter, Alysna; and a brother-in-law, Bob Griffis of North Platte, Neb.
Preceded in death by: Two sisters, Meridith Lynn Miller and Connie Jean Miller, and a brother, Marvin; and his grandparents, two uncles and two cousins.

Ray Turner

Residence: Greeley
Tribute: Leoti Ray Turner, known to his friends as "Ray," was born in Stratford, Texas, to Emmett B. and Vesta (Mathis) Turner. He spent most of his childhood in Stratford, where he and his older brother, Emmett B. "E.B." Turner Jr., spent time playing and causing mischief together.
Ray Turner moved to Amarillo, Texas, to attend high school and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1943. Immediately upon graduation, he joined the Army Air Corps. He trained as a bombardier for the B-17 airplane until the end of World War II and the end of his career with the Air Corps in 1945.
On Dec. 29, 1942, he married his high school sweetheart, Donna A. Potter. After spending several years moving with the Army Air Corps, Mr. Turner and his family moved to Russell, Kan., where he owned and operated an upholstery business. In 1957, the Turners moved to Greeley, where Mr. Turner started his career with the U.S. Postal Service from 1959 until his retirement in 1979.
After his retirement, Mr. Turner and his wife traveled throughout the western United States doing research into the "mountain man" era. His knowledge of beadwork, tepee making, black powder hunting and the role the mountain man played in the settlement of the western United States was extensive. He was one of the original members of the Vasquez Muzzleloaders & Tin Cup Shooters Club. In 1977, he was named Mountain Man of the Year by the club. He also lectured at several elementary schools in Greeley as "Many Skins" dressed in his buckskins.
Mr. Turner's love of the outdoors was constant throughout his life whether it was working on cattle ranches in Texas, hunting in the mountains of Colorado or photography in the deserts of Arizona.
Mr. Turner died Tuesday at the Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado inpatient unit in Greeley.
Survivors: His wife, Donna; a son, Dayton Ray Turner and wife Cyndy of San Antonio; a daughter, Debra Benson and husband Keith of Greeley; a grandson, Russell Turner of Tucson, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Michele Porter and husband Keith of San Antonio and Stacey Baldwin and husband Brent of O'Fallon, Ill.; a great-grandson, Brandon Turner, and a great-granddaughter, Alison Turner, both of Tucson, and a great-grandson, Keith Andrew Porter, and a great-granddaughter, Katelyn Porter, both of San Antonio; and three nieces in Nevada and California.
Preceded in death by: His parents and his brother, Emmett.
Services: 10 a.m. Friday at the Hillside Baptist Church, Greeley.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.

William "Bill" Brethauer
July 25, 1912 - July 2, 2007
Age: 94
Residence: Yuma
Tribute: William "Bill" Brethauer was born to Volga German immigrants, John and Mary Katherine Kister Brethauer of Walter Colony, Russia. He was born in a sod house on the historic Boyd Ranch northwest of Greeley.
On Feb. 8, 1938, he married Marion Schmaling in St. Paul's Congregational Church in Greeley.
When he began working on his father's farm as a youngster, he farmed with horses. He farmed south of Kersey with his three brothers until 1943 when he moved to Wiggins where he farmed until 1968. They then moved to Yuma and he farmed there with his son, William D. Brethauer, until he retired.
Mr. Brethauer was the oldest member of Old Threshers in Yuma as well as an exhibitor. A member of the lapidary club in eastern Colorado for many years, he made many beautiful pieces of jewelry for his family and friends.
He and his wife Marion spent their winter months in their second home in Zapata, Texas, for more than 25 years. He was an avid reader and never lost his love of storytelling or his delight in playing his harmonica.
Mr. Brethauer died July 2, at Yuma Life Care Center.
Survivors: His wife, Marion; a son, William D. of Yuma; daughters, Lauren and husband Donald Brantner of La Salle and Jeanette and husband James Anderson of Greeley; eight grandchildren, Julie Brethauer Strand of Akron, Donette Brantner Artenie and husband Romulus of Columbia, Md., David Brantner and wife Leslie of La Salle, Sheryl Brethauer Schroth and husband Rick of Greeley, Cindy Brethauer Held and husband Tim of Denver, Krista Anderson McBride and husband Jeff of Greeley, Holly Anderson Cahoon and husband Micah of Thornton, and Eric Anderson and wife Kara of Westminster. He also is survived by 22 great-grandchildren and a sister, Esther Miner of Centennial.
Preceded in death by: His son, John Robert Brethauer; brothers, John, Jacob, Fred, and George Brethauer; sisters, Lola Walters and Rachel Lanning; and his parents.
Services were held July 6 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Otis. Interment followed at Linn Grove Cemetery in Greeley.
Note: Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Otis. Arrangements were under the direction of Baucke Funeral Service in Yuma.
Darrell M. Johnson
July 18, 1926 - July 11, 2007
Age: 80
Residence: Denver, formerly of Greeley
Tribute: Darrell M. Johnson was born to Chris E. and Ruth Julia (Ostling) Johnson. He attended schools in the Greeley area, and graduated from Colorado State College of Education, now the University of Northern Colorado.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood.
Survivors: His wife, Ruby; sons, Randy and Cris; and grandchildren, Brandon and Elyse.
Memorial services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Temple, 200 S. University Blvd., Denver, CO 80209.
Robert "Bobby" Williams
Nov. 5, 1977 - July 14, 2007
Age: 29
Residence: Eaton
Tribute: Robert "Bobby" Williams was born in Killeen, Texas. He had lived in Eaton for most of his life and graduated from the Weld Opportunity School.
He married Steffani Jennings in 1998 in Greeley. They later divorced.
Mr. Williams was a master plumber and he began his career with Plumbing Services Incorporated in Loveland. He went on to own and operate his own business, Williams Custom Plumbing, for many years.
He was an avid collector of Star Wars memorabilia and he also collected and restored old Ford Ranchero cars. He also loved listening to Beetles' music. His family wants everyone to know that he loved life and especially loved spending time with his son, Sebastian.
Mr. Williams died Saturday at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland as a result of an accident July 12.
Survivors: His son, Sebastian Williams of Greeley; his mother and stepfather, Terry and Steve Hinton of Eaton; his adopted father, Michael L. Williams of Eaton; two brothers, Andrew Williams of Loveland and Charlie Williams of Greeley; his grandparents, Jake and Ella Mae White of Eaton and Dorothy and Laverne Williams of Greeley; his great-grandmother, Edith Nieberger of Greeley.
He also is survived by several aunts and uncles including David White and his wife Iris of Eaton, Annette Adams of Eaton, and Vicki Devitt of Wheat Ridge; special friends, Jerame Sheets of Eaton, Patsy Drewer of Greeley, Bobbi Jo Sheets and Brenna Sheets, both of Greeley, and his biological father, Robert Dorsett of Texas.
Preceded in death by: His great grandfather, Carl Nieberger.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. Friday at Eaton Cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Moser Funeral Service Chapel, 3501 S. 11th Ave., Evans.

Dorothy Alm
June 24, 1927-Nov. 24, 2007

Tribute: Dorothy E. Alm was born to Carl and Olga (Freed) Alm in Gill. She grew up in the Eaton area and graduated from Eaton High School in 1945.
Miss Alm moved to Denver for a year and she attended Central Business College. She moved back to Greeley for two years and worked for the welfare department and the Ice and Storage House. She then moved back to Denver and lived there for 50 years. She worked at the Veterans Administration Hospital for 30 years as an administrative assistant and after retiring she worked temporary jobs for the next 15 years.
While in Denver, Miss Alm belonged to the Timberline Club and Mountain Club and bowled on the VA bowling team for 30 years. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Denver for many years.
Miss Alm moved back to Greeley in 1997 and rejoined the church she attended and was baptized in as a young child, the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Greeley. In Greeley, she belonged to the Newcomers Club, ushered at Union Colony Civic Center and served as a receptionist one day a week at the Greeley Senior Center and at Immanuel Lutheran.
She was a member of the Women’s Circle, XYZ Club at Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Swedish Club of Northern Colorado. She was a caregiver to her elderly aunts over the years as well as many other family members. She loved to travel and visited every state in the United States and went to 15 different countries. Like her own mother, she was a talented cook and loved to entertain family and friends in her home.
Miss Alm died Saturday at North Colorado Medical Center, Greeley.
Survivors: A brother, Ray Alm and wife Vicki of Eaton; a sister, Shirley Richards of Greeley; six nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceded in death by: Her parents and a nephew.
Memorial services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Lois Dreitz

Residence: Keenesburg
Tribute: Lois Myrtle Dreitz was born in Perham, Minn., and moved to Denver when she was 5. She graduated from West High School in Denver in 1957.
On July 13, 1957, she married Albert Peter Dreitz. They lived in the Denver area until Mr. Dreitz was drafted into the Army in 1959. They then moved to Alexandria, Va. After her husband was discharged in 1961, they moved back to the Denver area and had two children, Randy and Lorna Dreitz. They moved many times, including the towns of Sterling, Iliff, Northglenn and Henderson, and finally settled in Keenesburg.
Mrs. Dreitz worked in bookkeeping in many banks throughout her working years. After she retired, she enjoyed dancing, crafts, traveling, visiting with family and friends, singing in the church choir and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She belonged to the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mrs. Dreitz died Friday at her home.
Survivors: Her husband, Albert Dreitz of Keenesburg; a son, Randy Dreitz and wife Connie of Brush; a daughter, Lorna Dreitz of Eaton; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Lila Kimmes of St. Cloud, Minn., Vera Fillinger of Denver and Betty Schwab of Denver; and a brother, Don McCulley of Sanford, Fla.
Preceded in death by: Three brothers, Harold McCulley, Eldon McCulley and Melvin McCulley.
Services: Rosary, 7 p.m. Friday, and Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. Saturday, both at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roggen.
Interment: 11 a.m. Monday at Fort Logan National Cemetery Staging Area A in Denver.
Visitation: 3 p.m. Thursday at the Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton.
