1920-1999
Nan C. debaca formerly of Craig, Colo., died March 12, 1999, at her home in Sacramento, Calif. She was 78.
A native of Colorado, she was born Aug. 3, 1920, to John and Autrey (Dalton) Bailey. They lived in Reno, Nev., from 1978 to 1998.
She is survived by a daughter, Dee White of Sun Valley, Nev., a son, Carl C.deBaca of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
There will be no funeral. Cremation will be under the direction of North Sacramento funeral home.

Robert J. Schanck
1912-1999
Robert J. Schanck of Craig, Colo., died at Valley View Manor March 17, 1999. He was 87.
On Jan. 31, 1912, in Bryant, S.D., Schanck was born the son of Henry and Hattie (Johanson) Schanck. He was raised and went to school in South Dakota. He moved to Craig in 1946.
On Feb. 2, 1953, in Yampa, Colo., he married Aldean Hassig.
Schanck was a truck driver and also worked for Union Carbide.
Schanck is survived by his wife; daughters, Randi (Roy) Mason of Craig, Vicki (Steve) Springer of Moorpark, Calif., and Roberta Young of St. Paul, Minn.; sons, Kyle (Becky) Schanck of Craig and Richard (Fran) Schanck of Vancouver, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Fred Schanck of St. Paul, Minn., and George Schanck of Clark, S.D.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen; and a brother, Charles.
Services were held March 20, 1999, at the First Christian Church. Burial was at the Craig Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jim Covalt, Jeff Burley, Rene Miles, Jack Kier, Gale Norman and Walt Stevens.

Iva W. Kendall
1912-1999
Iva W. Kendall of Montrose, Colo., died March 14, 1999, in Montrose. She was 86.
She was born March 22, 1912, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Kiernan and Della M. (Wasson) Doolin.
She married Levi David Kendall May 23, 1931, in Baggs, Wyo. She lived in Meeker for 33 years. She was the curator for the Meeker museum for about 21 years.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Mary) Kendall of Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Lola (Curt) Robinson of Montrose, Colo.; sisters, Pauline Barnette of Grand Junction, Colo., and Lucille Potter of Spirit Lake, Idaho; and seven grandchildren: Daniel Hipson of Montrose, David Kendall of Victorville, Calif., Penny Hopson of Lakewood, Julia and Joan Kendall of Craig, Jody Koran of Craig and Jean Sunberg of Hayden. She is also survived by seven step-grandchildren: Alex and Frank Escobar and Vickie Calahan of Bradenton, Fla., Carla Gartner of Golden, Colo., and Connie Robinson, Cindy Thaute and Gary Robinson of Montrose.
Kendall was preceded in death by her husband, a twin sister and one son, Wayne Kendall.
Services were held March 19, 1999, at Meeker Mortuary. Burial was at Highland Cemetery in Meeker. Memorial donations may be made to the White River Museum, in memory of Iva Kendall, P.O. Box 413, Meeker, CO 81641.

James Munter
Memorial services for Jame Munter of Baggs, Wyo., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 1999, at the Baggs Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel.

Lane H. Decker
Former Craig resident Lane H. Decker died Sunday, March 21, 1999 in his home in Encampment, Wyo. Services are pending.

Elmo A. Cook
1927-1999
The Rev. Elmo A. Cook of Meeker, Colo., died May 6, 1999, at Pioneers Hospital in Meeker. He was 72.
On Feb. 12, 1927, in Sterling, Colo., he was born the son of Harry and Ida (Marks) Cook. On Aug. 26, 1951, in Sterling, he married Joan Harns.
Cook owned and operated the Add-A-Bud Flower Shop in Sterling and also farmed. After receiving his ministerial training he served as a minister for the Methodist churches in Snyder and Hillrose, Colo., and in 1971 was called to be the pastor of the Meeker United Methodist Church. He also served for five years at the United Methodist Church in Craig.
Cook is survived by his wife; son, Stanley (Patricia) Cook of Meeker; daughters, Janet (Denver) Hayes of Meeker, Annette (George) Goehl of Farmington, N.M., and Pamela (Charles) Kem of Clifton, Colo.; grandchildren, Heather Kem, Libby Goehl, Cody Kem, Lori Goehl and Sarah Kem; brothers, Lester (Irene) Cook of Wheatridge, Colo., twin brother, Arlo (Ginny) Cook of Santa Maria, Calif.; sisters, Inez (Dale) Anderson of Reddick, Ill., Velma (Harlan) Richards of Englewood, Colo., and Eleanor (Warren) Carlson of Sterling; and sister-in-law, Mildred of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Herbert Cook.
Services were held May 10, 1999, at the Meeker United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Rev. Elmo A. Cook Memorial Fund through the First National Bank of the Rockies, P.O. Box 600, Meeker, CO 81641.

Tony R. Lopez
A rosary for Tony R. Lopez will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Callahan-Ed Fast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Dr. in Grand Junction, Colo. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, 1999, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 330 White Ave. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Elizabeth E. Coryell
1921-1999
Elizabeth E. Coryell of New Castle, Colo., and formerly of Craig, Colo., died May 11, 1999, at Valley View Hospital. She was 78.
On March 5, 1921, at Pogoda, Colo., she was born the daughter of Fred and Irene Sines. She spent her early childhood on the Williams Fork.
She is survived by daughters, Sandra (Don) Snyder, Janice (Leo) Russ, Jeanie (Al) Ferguson, Pam Mead, Pat (Wendell) Weaver and Lula Coryell; sons, Robert (Edie) Eggers, Ralph Coryell and Frank Coryell; sisters, Mae Parker, Dorothy Reed, Marilyn (Harold) Rants and Margaret (John) Maxson; brothers, Jim (Joyce) Sines and Joe Sines; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don Sines.
Services will be held May 17, 1999, at the Farnum Holt Mortuary in Glenwood Springs. Burial will be at the Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.

Itha Ahlstrom
Itha Ahlstrom of Craig died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at her home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 17, 1999, at the Timpanogas 7th Ward Chapel in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.

Helen Fitzpatrick
Helen Fitzpatrick, former Craig resident, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, in Fort Collins, Colo. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 1999, at Grant Mortuary. Interment will follow in Craig Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation in care of Grant Mortuary.

Patricia Otis
Patricia Otis of Craig died Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Valley View Manor. There will be no services.

Tiny Frances Carlson
1924-1999
Tiny Frances Carlson of Craig, Colo., died June 3, 1999, in Little Rock, Ark. She was 75.
On May 15, 1924, in Rotan, Texas, Carlson was born the daughter of John Thomas and Ruth (Phillips) Rector. She moved to Craig in 1951.
On April 25, 1960, in Steamboat Springs, Colo., she married Dale L. Carlson. She worked as a nurse at The Memorial Hospital for 25 years.
Carlson is survived by daughters, Maria (Bill) Bruce of Parker, Colo., Billie (Jim) Kiger of Craig, Colo., Janie (Roy) Echols of Tampa, Fla., Carolyn (Loid) Luscomb of Little Rock, and Linda Corey of Pendleton, Ore.; and sons, Gary (Mary) Carlson of Parker, Colo., and Larry Roundtree of Commerce City, Colo. She also had grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Services were held June 12 at Grant Mortuary in Craig.
Pallbearers were Loid Luscomb, Larry Roundtree, Dedra Cunningham, Bill Bruce, Nick Lopez and Scott Cunningham.
Burial was at Craig Cemetery.

Melvin W. Pomeroy
1936-1999
Melvin W. Pomeroy of Craig, Colo., died June 10, 1999, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. He was 62.
On June 13, 1936, in York, Neb., he was born the son of Melvin L and Virginia Louise (Harrington) Pomeroy. He spent most of his childhood around Torrington, Wyo. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957.
On May 18, 1955, in Torrington, he married Evelyn L. Montgomery. They lived in Barstow, Calif., Casper, Wyo., and Pueblo, Colo., before moving to Craig in 1979. Pomeroy worked as an operator for Colowyo Coal Company.
He is survived by his wife; his mother; daughters, Karen (Bob) Turner of Craig, Julie (John) Babb of Craig; and Audrey (Marty) Martinez of Craig; sons, Jack L. (Carol) Pomeroy of Wellington, Nev., and Martin W. (Liz) Pomeroy of Wellington; sister, Beverly Gibbs of Yoder, Wyo.; brothers, Dwight Pomeroy of Craig and Norman Pomeroy of Lusk, Wyo.; and grandchildren, Jo, Keith, Kenny, Jeremy, Jason, Joel and Kelsey.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Carol Groskopf.
Services were held June 15, 1999, at the First Christian Church in Craig.
Pallbearers were Jack Pomeroy, Marty Martinez, Martin Pomeroy, John Babb, Bob Turner and Randy Meyring. Honorary pallbearers were Dick Chapman and Jim Jewitt.
Burial was at Craig Cemetery.

Joe Perez
Part-time Craig resident Joe Perez died Friday, June 18, 1999, in Brighton, Colo.
He was 87.
Services are pending.

Florence Blackburn
Florence Blackburn of Craig died Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at Valley View Manor. Graveside services were held on Wednesday at the Craig Cemetery.

Melvin Pomeroy
Funeral services for Melvin Pomeroy of Craig will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow at the Craig Cemetery.

E.R. "Buck" Salter
Memorial services for E.R. "Buck" Salter will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 1999, at the First Congregational Church.

James Brinks
Memorial services for James Brinks of Craig will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at the First Congregational Church. Memorial donations may be made to a memorial fund in his memory at the Moffat County Library in care of Grant Mortuary.

Frances Carlson
Funeral services for Frances Carlson will he held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Grant Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Craig Cemetery.

Maryann Stanton
1956-1999
Maryann Stanton of Larkspur, Colo., formerly of Craig, Colo., died May 31, 1999, of injuries received from an auto accident. She was 43.
On Feb. 14, 1956, in Craig, she was born the daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Tabler) Knez.
She is survived by her companion, Bob Collins of Larkspur, Colo.; children, Shawn Knez of Thornton, Colo., Cherlynn Uzell of Minnesota, and Bobby Collins, Jason Collins and Paul Collins of Larkspur, Colo.; sisters, Veronica Weiand of Atlanta, N.Y., Linda Conrad of Dansville, N.Y., Theresa Echols of Castle Rock, Colo., and Margaret Davis of Pauls Valley, Okla.; brothers, David Knez, Paul Knez, Joseph Knez and Michael Knez all of Craig; and grandchildren, Justin Bickle, Kala Uzell and Kyle Bickle.
Services were held June 4, 1999, at the New Covenant Fellowship Church in Larkspur.

James Vincent Carnahan
1924-1999
James Vincent Carnahan of Yampa, Colo., died May 27, 1999, at Routt Memorial Hospital in Steamboat Springs, Colo. He was 78.
On July 24, 1924, in Yampa, Colo., Carnahan was born the son of James F. and Emma (Preece) Carnahan. He attended school and graduated from Yampa High School in 1942. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II.
On Dec. 10, 1954, in Yampa he married Doris D. Kuchera.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Carnahan; daughter, Terry (Ernie) Arnold of Craig, Colo.; sons, Kirk (Kathy) Carnahan of Broomfield, Colo., and Pollard Carnahan of Yampa; sister, Katherine Holmes of Overton, Nev; and grandchildren, Rusty, Melissa and Glen Carnahan, and Pete and Chris Seewald.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; sister, Vernie Jones; and brothers, Lee, Lon and Fay Carnahan.
Services were held June 1, 1999, at the Yampa Bible Church.
Pallbearers were Doug Redmond, Jerry Schalnus, Pete Seewald, Sonny Kossar, Rusty Carnahan and Chris Seewald.
Honorary pallbearers were John Brannan, Chet Sanders, Duane Acord, Ed Brannan, Cecil Weston and Bobby Robinson Sr.
Interment was at the Yampa cemetery.

Gladys Elaine Burner
1925-1999
Gladys Elaine Burner of Vernal, Utah, formerly of Craig, Colo., died May 30, 1999, at Ashley Valley Center in Vernal. She was 73.
On June 12, 1925, in Sioux Falls, S.D., she was born the daughter of Vincent and Imogene (Wildman) Warriner. She graduated from Loveland High School in Loveland, Colo., and had lived in Vallejo, Calif., for three years and worked in the defense industry on Mare Island Navy yard. She moved to Craig in 1948 and Vernal in 1977.
On June 18, 1949, she married Guy L. Hill, who died in 1962. On Aug. 31, 1962, in Meeker, Colo., she married Roy C. Burner, who died in 1986. She was a member of the Vernal Christian Church.
Burner is survived by daughters, Leslie Hill (Kent) Marshall and Cheryl (Clyde) Kinsman; grandson, Michael (Shawna) Marshall; granddaughter, Shelley Marshall; great-grandchildren, Michael Scott Jr., Jim Kinsman and Wendy Catone; great-great-granddaughter, Kendall Marie Catone; and brother, Vincent (Elaine) Warriner, Jr.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Darnell.
Services were held June 3, 1999, at the Vernal Christian Church. Burial was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Utah Heart Foundation or the Diabetes Association.

John A. Nicoletto
1909-1999
John A. Nicoletto of Grove City, Pa., formerly of Craig, Colo., died May 25, 1999, at United Community Hospital in Pine Township, Pa. He was 89.
On Nov. 5, 1909, in Sopris, Colo., he was born the son of Louis and Antonia (Lira) Nicoletto.
On Dec. 14, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he married Catherine Valaska. He worked as a coal miner in Burgettstown, Pa., as a dairy farmer in Liberty Township and as a chef in Butler and Pittsburgh, Pa., and in Craig.
He is survived by sons, Anthony "Tony" M. Nicoletto of Grove City, and John W. Nicoletto of Bloomsburg, Pa.; sister, Margaret J. Puklavec of Liberty Township; brother, Severino "Nick" Nicoletto of Rifle, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, who died in 1991; his parents; and sisters, Angelina Sansone and Alice Passami.
Services were held May 27, 1999, at the Smith Funeral Home in Slippery Rock, Pa.

Jolene Vonda Watson
1939-1999
Jolene Vonda Watson of West Sacramento, Calif., died May 15, 1999. She was 59.
On July 27, 1939, in Craig, Colo., she was born to Joe Edwards of Craig and Vonda McCarter of Carmichael, Calif.
She is survived by son, William Watson; daughter, Vonda Ann Storm of West Sacramento; sisters, Lynda Shy of Sacramento, Calif.; and Debora Edwards of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Watson.
Services were held May 21, 1999, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sacramento.

Carl E. Burch
1933-1999
Carl E. Burch of Littleton, Colo., formerly of Craig, Colo., died June 3, 1999. He was 65.
He was born Nov. 17, 1933, in Sapulpa, Okla.
On April 21, 1951, in Decatur, Texas, he married Peggy Joyce Watson. He was a manager and dispatcher in a trucking company.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Phyllis Goodwin of Craig, Sharon Batchelor of Craig and Carla Marcely of Carmichael, Calif.; son, Edward D. Burch of Denver; sister, Kathy Chambers of Portland, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held June 7, 1999, at Drinkwine Family Chapel in Littleton.

Donald Nelson Sr.
Donald Nelson Sr. of Baggs, Wyo., died Thursday, June 17, 1999, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 1999, at the Baggs Cemetery.

Agnes Graham
Agnes Graham of Craig died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Grant Mortuary.
Concluding services and interment will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Rock Springs, Wyo., Municipal Cemetery.

Frances Carlson
Funeral services for Frances Carlson will he held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 1999, at Grant Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Craig Cemetery.

Maryann Stanton
1956-1999
Maryann Stanton of Larkspur, Colo., formerly of Craig, Colo., died May 31, 1999, of injuries received from an auto accident. She was 43.
