George J. Goldberg of Scottsdale, Ariz., a retired stockbroker, died Sunday, Jan. 12, at home. He was 85. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born July 22, 1917, in New York City, he was a son of the late Samuel and Anna Widowski Goldberg. Mr. Goldberg graduated from Stamford High School and had been a lifelong Stamford resident until he moved to Scottsdale a few months ago. He was a retired stockbroker for the former Stamford office of Gruntal & Co. He also was the former owner of Puritan Dry Cleaners of Stamford. He was a member and past president of the Jewish Historical Society of Greater Stamford. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Sckolnik of Scottsdale; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Miriam Beer Goldberg; two brothers, Bernard Goldberg and Issie Goldberg; and two sisters, Rose Gluck and Marsha Selin. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, at Congregation Agudath Sholom, 301 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford, with Rabbi Elan Adler officiating. Burial will follow in Agudath Sholom cemeteryin Stamford. Ira Goldenberg of Stamford, a retired supermarket executive, died Sunday, March 2 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 77. He died of lung cancer, according to his family. Born Aug. 8, 1925 in New York City, he was the son of the late Henry and Bessie Rosen Goldenberg. Mr. Goldenberg served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Piper during World War II. He graduated from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Fla., and went to work in the supermarket industry. He is survived by his wife, Louise Abrams Goldenberg of Stamford; two daughters, Hildi Todrin of Stamford and Andrea Goldenberg of Sylva, N.C.; and one granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 4 at Temple Israel, 1000 Pinebrook Blvd., New Rochelle, N.Y. Burial will follow at Cedar Park cemeteryin Paramus, N.J. Shiva will be observed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the home of Hildi Todrin. Arrangements are being handled by the Zion Memorial Chapel of Westchester, 767 E. Hyman J. Goldfeld, of Delray Beach, Fla., a retired contractor in Stamford and Greenwich, died Thursday, June 12, at Hospice By the Sea in Boca Raton, Fla. He was 80. He died of congestive heart failure, according to his family. Born Nov. 22, 1922, in New Haven, he was the son of the late David and Rebecca Sokoloff. Mr. Goldfeld grew up in New Haven, where he attended local schools. He later served in the U.S. Army. He moved from New Haven to Stamford, where he lived for many years. He later moved to Greenwich before settling in Florida. Mr. Goldfeld worked as a real estate developer responsible for developments in Stamford and Greenwich. He was involved in the construction of the Xerox Center in Greenwich and the Largo Building on Summer Street in Stamford. He is survived by his wife, Elinor Goldfeld of Delray Beach; two sons, David Goldfeld of Boca Raton and Mark Goldfeld of Haverhill, Fla.; a sister, Eve Kotkin of West Hartford; and two grandsons. He was predeceased by a sister. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 17, at Congregation Agudath Sholom Cemetery, Stamford. Sinai Memorial Chapels, 15200 Jog Road, Delray Beach, handled the arrangements.

Jack J. Goldrosen of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Hospice of Southwest Florida in Port Charlotte. He was 73. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born Oct. 26, 1929, in Revere, Mass., he was the son of the late Harry and Gertrude Goldrosen. Mr. Goldrosen moved to Westport from Sharon, Mass., in 1968. He worked at Machlett Laboratories in Stamford from 1968 to 1987, first as a production manager and then as a plant manager. He moved to Port Charlotte in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Mansolf Goldrosen of Port Charlotte; three sons, Mark Goldrosen of San Francisco, Richard Goldrosen of New York City and Michael Goldrosen of Boston; six sisters, Ruth Gooltz of Port Charlotte, Thelma Kesselman of Israel, and Pearl Kravitz, Edith Harris, May Kaufman and Diana Razin, all of Boston; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn Rabinovitz Goldrosen; and a sister, Frieda White. Services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Schlossberg & Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington St., Canton, Mass. Burial followed in Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, Mass. Margaret M. Goode of Greenwich, a former resident of Farmington and Stamford, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at Nathaniel Witherell Home in Greenwich. She was 83. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born April 26, 1920, in Hartford, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Nora O'Keefe Sullivan. Mrs. Goode worked for more than 15 years at Cigna Insurance Company in Bloomfield. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and most recently resided at Nathaniel Witherell. Mrs. Goode is survived by her son, Brian Goode of Hilton Head, S.C.; two daughters, Elizabeth Canny of Manchester by the Sea, Mass., and Nancy Roath of New Canaan; a sister, Gerry Sullivan of Newington; and seven grandchildren. Ron Gorton of Clearwater, Fla., a novelist, film director and former professional baseball player, died Friday, Jan. 31, at Sunset Point Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Clearwater, Fla. He was 69. He died of heart and kidney failure, according to his family. Born Oct. 4, 1933, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Al Palo and Winifred Dugdale Gorton. Mr. Gorton lived in Stamford until 1967, when he moved to Florida. He was a former football quarterback at Villanova University in Villanova, Pa. During the 1950s, he played professional baseball for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Pittsburgh Pirates, his family said. Mr. Gorton published three novels "The Soul," "Lawyers of Hell" and "The Hucksters of Holiness." He also produced several full-length feature films. He was an avid sports fan and a loyal friend who enjoyed spending time with his children. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jessie Gorton of Clearwater; a son, Ronald A. Gorton Jr. of Sarasota, Fla.; a brother, George Gorton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Barbara Davis of Clearwater; and three grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Clearwater Beach Hotel, 500 Mandalay Ave., Clearwater Beach, Fla. Stefania Gosz, a longtime Stamford resident, died Sunday, Dec. 28, at Stamford Hospital. She was 80. She died of congestive heart failure, according to her family. Born April 16, 1923, in Wilenszczyzna, Poland, she was a daughter of the late John and Antonia Zienkiewicz. Mrs. Gosz was retired from Pitney Bowes in Stamford, where she had worked as an assembler. She was a communicant of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford. She served for eight years as a corporal in the Eighth Allied Army, Transportation Division, in the European and Mid-East Theater during World War II. She is survived by a daughter, Cristina Lasczak of Stamford; a sister, Helen of Russia; and two grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Gosz; a daughter, Irene Gosz; two sisters, Maria Szlaska and Janina Hoffman; and a brother, John Zienkiewicz. Frances E. Grabowski, a longtime Stamford resident and homemaker, died Friday, May 30, at Stamford Hospital. She was 91. She died of pneumonia, according to her family. Born Jan. 6, 1912, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Damazy and Stella Zielinski Dzubinski. Mrs. Grabowski moved to Stamford in 1931, where she raised her family. She was a parishioner of the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford, and a member of its Rosary Altar Society and senior group. She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She is survived by a son, Stephen Grabowski of Stamford; three daughters, Frances "Frankie" Knight of Stamford, Mary Jayne Gardner of Madison and Barbara Cikatz-Leibowitz of Wilton; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Grabowski; a son, Stanley Grabowski; a daughter, Jean Ann DiProspero; three brothers, Alexander Dzubinski, Edward Dzubinski and Theodore Dzubinski; and a sister, Jean Dervis. Naureen Doherty Graham, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Saturday, Feb. 8, at Stamford Hospital. She was 80. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born April 4, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Gleason Doherty. During World War II, Mrs. Graham served in the Canadian Armed Forces and was stationed in Europe. After the war, she moved to New York City and married Robert Graham. They moved to Greenwich in the early 1950s. For more than 30 years, Mrs. Graham was a real estate broker in Greenwich; she retired from David Ogilvy and Associates. She was a member of the Millbrook Country Club and St. Mary Church. Mrs. Graham is survived by three sons, Timothy Graham of Greenwich, Patrick Graham of Boca Raton, Fla., and Michael Graham of Virginia Beach, Va.; two daughters, Joanne Graham of New York City and Tracy Baird of Darien; a sister, Iris Butler of Buckingham, Quebec, Canada; and nine grandchildren. Mary Augusta Frost Graham, a resident of New Canaan and Stuart, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 1, at her New Canaan home. She was 85. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Nov. 5, 1917, in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Russell Frost.Mrs. Graham, known to family and friends as "Gussie," was the first baby born at Norwalk Hospital. A longtime Norwalk resident, she was involved in many community activities, including service as president of the Planned Parenthood Association, a member of the Women's Board of the Norwalk Hospital and a nurse's aide for the Norwalk Chapter of the American Red Cross. She also was active in the Altar Guild of St. Paul's on the Green Church in Norwalk, a member of the Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk and a benefactor of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum. Mrs. Graham is survived by three sons, Russell F. Graham of Greenwich; Arthur S. Graham of East Hampton, N.Y.; and John P. Graham of New Canaan; a brother, Russell Frost III of New Canaan; a sister, Frances Frost Overlock of New Canaan; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Graham. Keisha Moniqué Grant, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Friday, Oct. 31, at home. She was 34. She died of cancer, according to her family. Born March 3, 1969, in Stamford, she was a daughter of Solomon K. Palmer of Washington, D.C., and Deidré Grant-Morris of Bear, Del. Ms. Grant graduated from Stamford High School in 1986. She obtained a certified nurse's aide license in 1989. After graduation, she worked for Nine West in Stamford; she later worked in the communications department of Glencore Ltd. in Stamford for 14 years. She was a member of Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and attended Bethel AME Church, both in Stamford. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her paternal grandfather, Solomon K. Palmer Sr. of North Carolina; maternal grandfather, Joseph H. Grant of Norwalk; maternal grandmother, Lucy M. McDonald of Flowermond, Texas; a daughter, Tykeisha M. Dobbins of Bear ; three brothers, Bruce E. Harper II of Bear, and Tehran Palmer and Free Palmer, both of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Danyel Grant-Bates of New Castle, Del., and Kenya Palmer of Washington, D.C.; a stepsister, Amber L. Allison "Alie Al" Beth Gray, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Sunday, Oct. 13 at her home. She was 37. She died of respiratory failure, according to her death certificate. Born Dec. 3, 1964, in Stamford, she was the daughter of Elliott and Carolyn Amaker Gray Jr. of Stamford. Ms. Gray was a member of Bethel AME Church in Stamford where she involved with the Sunday school, usher board and choir. She was employed as a courier for Iron Mountain Co. Francis V. "Frank" Gray Sr., a longtime Stamford resident, died Sunday, Aug. 17 at home. He was 74. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born July 22, 1929, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of the late Helen Scalero. Mr. Gray lived in Stamford for most of his life. He worked for the city of Stamford Parking Authority for more than 30 years before retiring about 10 years ago. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford. He is survived by a daughter, Helen Ritch of Stamford; a son, Gary Gray of Beacon Falls; two sisters; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Rugowski Gray; a son, Francis V. Gray Jr.; and two daughters, Jeanette Hoffberg and Theresa Evans. Ralph P. Greco, a lifelong Stamford resident and former groundskeeper at Sterling Farms Golf Course, died Monday, Jan. 13, at Stamford Hospital. He was 83. He died of heart failure, according to his family. Mr. Greco began his career at Sterling Farms as a starter in the 1970s, but later turned to tending the course. He became head gardener at the course in 1989, and worked there until his retirement last year. His duties included planting bulbs each spring, filling divots, weeding the gardens, painting fences and cleaning storm drains. In an interview in April 2001, Mr. Greco said he gave special attention to the yellow and white daffodils and pink and white tulips housed in one of the course's flower beds. "I talk to them. I ask them how they are, if they need a drink. I compliment them and tell them how beautiful they are," he said. "That's the secret, you know." Colleagues said everything he did was with his own hands, and that he preferred to work alone. After his retirement last fall, he was presented with a proclamation from Stamford Mayor Dannel Malloy declaring Oct. 8, 2002 "Ralph Greco Day" in the city. "I enjoyed it all the years I worked up there," Mr. Greco told The Advocate in an October 2002 interview. Born May 10, 1919, in Stamford, he was the son of the late John and Catherine Cosentino Greco. He was a lifelong Stamford resident. In addition to his work at Sterling Farms, Mr. Greco was the groundskeeper for heavyweight boxing champion James Joseph "Gene" Tunney for two years until Tunney's death in 1978. He also had worked as a shipping clerk for Unique Window Balance Corp. of Norwalk for many years and foreman for Durable Metals in South Norwalk. He is survived by his wife, Angelina R. Giancola Greco of Stamford; two sons, Ronald J. Greco of New Milford and Robert P. Greco of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Frank Greco of Warwick, Mass.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Greco, James V. Born Jan. 28, 1924, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Vito and Lucy DeCarlo. Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Ralph E. Green of Stamford; four sons, Roger E. Green of Greenwich, and Robert E. Green, Brian Green and Wayne M. Green, all of Stamford; a brother, Charles DeCarlo of Stamford; two sisters, Mildred Gibboms of Tucson, Ariz., and Gertrude Borea of Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Nov. 17, 1916 in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Morris and Rebecca Radisch. Mrs. Greenwald is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Leff of New Canaan and Lois Greenwald of Burlington, Mass.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Benedetto "Ben" Grossi, a longtime Stamford resident and a retired electrical engineer, died Monday, Oct. 21, at Stamford Hospital. He was 58. He died of cardiac arrest, according to his family. Born July 21, 1944, in Minturno, Italy, he was the son of Rosa Mallozzi Grossi of Stamford and the late Giuseppe Grossi. Mr. Grossi graduated from New York University in New York City. He held more than 20 patents in the medical field. He worked for Circon/Acmi in Stamford for 23 years and was a member of the Minturnese Social Club of Stamford. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Rossana C. Grossi of Stamford; two sons, Joseph R. Grossi and Ben C. Grossi, both of Stamford; and three sisters, Carlotta S. Evelyn H. Gruber of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., a retired lab supervisor, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, at St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach. She was 85. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Sept. 23, 1917, in Mount Kisco, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anne Jaffy. Mrs. Gruber graduated from the University of Minnesota. A registered nurse, she worked as a lab supervisor at Burke Rehabilitation Center in White Plains, N.Y., for more than 20 years and at the Osborn Home in Rye, N.Y. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Malamet of Stamford and Lynne Carroll of Port Chester, N.Y.; a brother, Allen Jaffy of Newport, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A shiva service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the home of Nancy and Allen Malamet. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. Neptune Society, 531 E. Oakland Park Blvd., Oakland Park, Fla., handled arrangements.

Julia E. Mutino, a longtime Stamford resident and an interior decorator, died Sunday, Aug. 4, at Courtland Gardens Health Care Center of Stamford. She was 97. Born Dec. 5, 1904 in Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rose Lupo. Mrs. Mutino worked for 10 years with Charles R. Knott Interior Decorators in . She is survived by two daughters, Antoinette Shatas of Norwalk and Catherine Coutermash of Darien; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Leo Vizzo, who died in 1929; her second husband, Nicholas Mutino, whom she married in 1937; a son, Nicholas P. Mutino; three sisters, Theresa Budkins, Josephine Gatto and Mildred Pinto; and two brothers, Dominick Lupo and Rocco Lupo. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 8 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Michael Schoerie officiating. Concetta Malagisi Gublet, a longtime Stamford resident and homemaker, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Stamford Hospital. She was 70. She died of Lou Gehrig's disease, according to her family. Born Dec. 1, 1932, in Minturno, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Anna LaRocca Malagisi. Mrs. Gublet had resided in Stamford for the past 45 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Minturnese Social Club, both in Stamford. She is survived by her husband, Franco Gublet of Stamford; three sons, Edward Gublet of Stamford, Frank Gublet Jr. of Milford and Tony Gublet of Toluca Lake, Calif.; a sister, Querina Pappa of Norwalk; five brothers, Giovanni Malagisi and Salvatore Malagisi, both of Rome, Sebastiano Malagisi of Minturno, Antonio Malagisi of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Mariano Malagisi of Stamford; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Pasqualina Mallozzi; and a brother, Filippo Malagisi. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at Nicholas F. Mary Gueits, a retired union office manager and Stamford resident, died Thursday, Aug. 7, at Stamford Hospital. She was 77. She died of cancer according to her family. Born March 21, 1926, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, she is the daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa Gonzales Valez. Mrs. Gueits lived in Stamford for the past 18 years. She was the office manager for the International Ladies Garment Worker's Union Local #22 in New York City until her retirement. She loved to cook and shop. She also frequented Mohegan Sun to gamble. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Velazquez of Stamford; a brother, Jamie Velez of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Gueits; and a sister, Lydia Bermudez. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 8, at Nicholas E. Cognetta Funeral and Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. Anthony Gumski, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Sunday, Oct. 5, at home. He was 87. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born April 12, 1916, in Stamford, he was the son of the late John and Alice Gumkowski. Mr. Gumski served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a self-employed electrical contractor in Stamford for 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolores Parent Gumski of Stamford; a son, Anthony Gumski Jr. of Stamford; three daughters, Sharon Ritchie and Sheila Coughlin, both of Stamford, and Patricia Ladner of Meriden; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Diane Monica Williams Hadley, a New Canaan resident, died Tuesday, Dec. 31 at a hospice in Middletown. She was 66. She died of heart failure, according to her family. Born Aug. 18, 1936 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Cecil Edward and Florence Monica Hoyt Williams. Her maternal grandfather was Franklin Hoyt, who established the F. Hoyt Funeral Home in the 1920s. Her father's family was from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. Mrs. Hadley grew in Darien and made frequent trips to visit her grandparents in New Canaan at the funeral home. In 1957 she married John Ritter Hadley, an engineering student from Chicago, while they were studying at Northwestern University. After graduation, they moved to Glastonbury, where her husband worked as a metallurgist for Pratt & Whitney. In 1969 they moved to Arizona, where her husband worked for Garrett Air Research. In 1987, they returned to Connecticut to live in the building of the funeral home her grandfather established. Throughout her life, Mrs. Hadley was an avid antique collector and world traveler. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Susan Hadley of Middletown; two sons, Craig Hadley of Dover, N.H., and Scott Hadley of Cholula, Mexico; a brother, John H. Williams of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband. There are no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 4 at St. Mark's Church, Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan. Burial will follow at Lakeview cemeteryin New Canaan.
