James F. Rabes of Bridgeport, a former resident of Norwalk and Stamford, died Friday, July 4, at home. He was 41. The cause of death is unknown, pending further study, according to the state medical examiner. Born June 13, 1962, in New London, he was the son of John Rabes of Stamford and Lorraine Horton Springer of Torrington. Mr. Rabes lived in the Stamford-Norwalk area for most of his life and worked as a self-employed house painter. Besides his parents, he is survived by his stepfather, Ronald Springer of Torrington; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, John F. Rabes. A committal service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, in Riverside Cemetery, Riverside Avenue, Norwalk. A memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. at the Parkway Assembly of God Church, 260 New Canaan Ave., Norwalk. Ernest E. Radocy, a former Stamford resident, died Thursday, Dec. 20, at home in Tustin, Calif. He was 71. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born June 28, 1930 in Stamford, he was a son of the late John W. and Julia Zvolensky Radocy. Mr. Radocy attended Stamford High School and J.M. Wright Technical School. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Burndy and Texas Instruments before moving to California. He retired as president of North American Specialties of California in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Adrienne Radocy of California; his son, Craig Radocy of Canton; five daughters, Alicia Foye of Tennessee, Karyn Smith of Stamford, Alana Roberto of Torrington, Kelly Brower of Aguanga, Calif, and Jessica Radocy of Berkeley, Calif; a sister, Julie Ginolfi of Stamford and 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, John W. Radocy, Louis Radocy and Frank Radocy. Burial will be in Riverside Military Cemetery, Riverside, Calif.

Alfred Raffaele of Norwalk, former co-owner of Raffaele Market in Stamford, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. He was 89. He died of complications related to Parkinson's disease, according to his family. Born Feb. 28, 1913, in Calabria, Italy, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Josephine Valenti Raffaele. Mr. Raffaele lived in Stamford for more than 60 years before moving to Norwalk 23 years ago. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Raffaele Market in Stamford. He later retired as a manager of Grade A Market in Darien. He was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford, where he was an honorary member and past president of the Holy Name Society. He also was a longtime usher, and a former member of the basketball and bowling leagues at the church. He was an honorary third-degree knight in Knights of Columbus St. Augustine Council No. 41 in Stamford. Mr. Raffaele also was a member of Stamford Old Timers and the Darien chapter of the National Council of Senior Citizens. He was known for his extensive vegetable and flower gardens, produce from which he loved to share with others. He is survived by a son, Alfred M. Raffaele of Norwalk; a daughter, Lorraine Derivan of Norwalk; three sisters, Rose Iuso of Stamford; Yolanda Sclafani of Stamford, and Mildred Sessa of Ridgefield; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Raffaele was predeceased his wife of 65 years, Anna Marie Raffaele, who died Oct. 3; and two brothers, Salvatore Raffaele and Ernest Raffaele Sr. Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 19, at the Lacerenza Funeral Home Inc., 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Mildred C. Raina, a former seamstress and lifelong Stamford resident, died Thursday, Sept. 18, at Bridgeport Health Care Center. She was 89. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born April 14, 1914, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Sansone. Mrs. Raina worked as a seamstress at the Genovese Garment factory, formerly of Stamford, and also worked at Bunker-Ramo in Trumbull. She is survived by a son, Peter G. Raina Jr. of Trumbull; two brothers, Leonard Sansone and Daniel Sansone, both of Stamford; and three sisters, Palm Bitetto of Syracuse, N.Y., Sandy Santoro of Stamford and Nancy Anka of Fairfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter G. Raina Sr.; and two brothers, Alphonse Sansone and Leo Sansone. Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 22, at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. A prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the funeral home. Wesley Rakowski of West Valley City, Utah, a former Stamford resident, died Friday, Sept. 5, at Rocky Mountain, a rehabilitation center in Salt Lake City. He was 46. He died of a heart attack, according to his family. Born March 6, 1957, in Wilamowo, Poland, he was the son of the late Peter and Laura Rakowski. Mr. Rakowski immigrated to the United States in 1968. He was the former owner of Fairfield Luncheonette in Stamford and worked for Don Knight Catering and Holy Name Athletic Club, both in Stamford. He was a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stamford and belonged to the Holy Name Athletic Club, where he was a member of the bowling league. He is survived by four brothers, Steve Rakowski, Zdislaw "Ziggy" Rakowski, John Rakowski, all of Stamford, and Eugene Rakowski of Stratford; a sister, Anna Franklin of West Valley City, Utah; five nieces and three nephews; a great-nephew; and three great-nieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Rakowski, Peter Rakowski and Chester Rakowski. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 369 Washington Blvd., Stamford. Burial will take place in Utah and will be private. Tyler E. Ramoutar, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Sunday, Aug. 3, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Wilson, N.C. He was 4. Born Aug. 17, 1998, in Stamford, he was a son of Kanhai and Darlene White Ramoutar of Stamford. Tyler was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Stamford. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and using the computer. He also loved music. In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Kenneth Ramoutar and Ramesh Ramoutar, both of Stamford; a sister, Kavita Ramoutar of Stamford; his maternal grandparents, Curtis White of Raeford, N.C. and Betty White of Stamford; his paternal grandmother, Pulmatie Ramoutar of Stratford; his maternal great-grandmother, Flora White of Raeford; four uncles; four aunts; and a host of cousins. Dorothy G. Rapaport of Simsbury died Tuesday, Jan. 14, at McLean Village in Simsbury. She was 86. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Nov. 23, 1916, in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Bertha P. Zlochiver. Mrs. Rapaport was a graduate of Hartford High School, the University of Connecticut and the University of Hartford. She was the reading consultant for the Canton School System, retiring in 1986. She is survived by three sons, Ross S. Rapaport of New Canaan, Barton J. Rapaport of Stamford and James L. Rapaport of Wilton; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton H. Rapaport. Services and burial will be private. Ladislav J. Rastocky, a longtime Norwalk resident and World War II veteran, died Monday, Oct. 13, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 77. Mr. Rastocky died of Parkinson's disease, according to his family. Born Aug. 14, 1926, in Brenzo, Czechoslovakia, he was a son of the late John and Mary Rastocky. Mr. Rastocky was a retired roofer who had worked for the Main Roofing Co. in Norwalk. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Marie Fiore Rastocky of Norwalk; four sons, John J. Rastocky of Brookfield, Robert J. Rastocky, Thomas A. Rastocky and Stephen J. Rastocky, all of Norwalk; three sisters, Ann Zavory of Norwalk, Mary Saviano of Westport and Irene Criscuolo of Florida; and eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. Nazzareno "Antonio" Raus, a longtime Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Stamford Hospital. He was 86. He died of heart failure, according to his family. Born, Jan. 15, 1917, in Minturno, Italy, he was a son of the late Michelangelo and Concetta Adipietro Raus. Mr. Raus lived in Stamford for 36 years and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church. He was a member of the Minturnese Social Club of Stamford, carpenters union Local No. 210 and the Stamford Bocce League. He served in the Italian Army during World War II as part of the Allied Forces. Mr. Raus is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosa Tamburrino Raus of Stamford; four daughters, Fernanda Mallozzi of Stamford, Anna Maria Thomas of Stamford, Rita Raus-Solati of Milford and Mary Grace Raus-Merturi of Milford; four sons, Frank Raus and Angelo Raus, both of Stamford, Maurice Raus of Jamison, Pa., and Robert Raus of Rocky Hill; a sister, Lina Polidoro of Massachusetts; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Eloise M. and Eugene A. Raven of Stratford, who were married for almost 60 years, died last weekend within 12 hours of each other at Lord Chamberlain Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Stratford. Mrs. Raven died Saturday, April 26, at age 87 of diabetes-related heart failure, and Mr. Raven died Sunday, April 27, at age 88 of a heart aneurysm, their family said. The couple lived in Downers Grove, Ill.; Darien; Stamford; and Rye, N.Y., before moving to Stratford. Born Dec. 5, 1915, in Shawnee, Okla., Mrs. Raven was the daughter of the late Addie and John McGhee. Mr. Raven was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Sioux City, Iowa, and was the son of the late Hermina and Jergen Raven. Mr. Raven worked for many years as the director of advertising for United Airlines in Chicago. He later worked as senior vice president of Foote, Cone & Belding in New York City, where he was an account executive in charge of advertising for Trans World Airlines and Sears, Roebuck & Co. In 1972, he became a real estate agent and a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. In 1988, the couple retired to Stratford. They are survived by two sons, Gregory Raven of South Carolina and Dane Raven of Illinois; and a daughter, Carolyn Riemann of southwestern Connecticut. Emma "Bobbie" Raymond, a longtime resident of Norwalk, died Friday, Dec. 12, at Honey Hill Center in Norwalk. She was 89. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Aug. 19, 1914, in Norwalk, she was a daughter of the late Royal and Eva Raymond. Miss Raymond lived in Norwalk most of her life. She retired from SNET and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Margaret Karl of Norwalk, with whom she lived. Miss Raymond was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Fillow and Ruth Raymond; and a brother, Royal Raymond Jr. There will be no calling hours. Christopher C. Rheaume, a lifelong New Canaan resident, died Monday, Dec. 17, at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan. He was 57. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born June 9, 1944, in Washington D.C., he was a son of the late Alton V. Rheaume and Catherine Gleason Rheaume. Mr. Rheaume was a former local painter and was also employed by Bonnie Doon Corp. and Pittston Corp. He was a longtime member of the New Canaan Fire Department and Fraternal Order Eagles Stamford Aeire No. 579. He lived with multiple sclerosis for many years. Mrs. Renzuella was co-owner, with her husband, of Swanky Franks Restaurant in Norwalk from 1953 to 1982. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in South Norwalk. She is survived by her husband, Alexander A. Renzuella of Norwalk; one daughter, Eleanor "Bunny" Satterfield of Norwalk; a brother, Joseph Ruta of Norwalk; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Luis J. Riascos of Stamford, a retired building superintendent, died Sunday, Nov. 9, at St. Camillus Health Care Center in Stamford. He was 72. He died of pancreatic cancer, according to his family. Born Oct. 3, 1931, in Cali, Colombia, he was a son of the late Luis and Hermencia Mejia Riascos. Mr. Riascos worked at Glenbrook Industrial Park, where he was a building superintendent for 27 years. He was an avid soccer player, and a soccer, baseball and boxing fan. After his retirement, he worked as a school crossing guard at Hope Street and Scofield Avenue in Stamford. He served in the Colombian Army from 1947 to 1949. He is survived by three sons, Fernando D. Riascos of Ridgefield Park, N.J., Leonardo Riascos of Norwalk and Richard Riascos of Philadelphia; a former wife, Marlene Riascos of Redding; three sisters, Clara Rosa Riascos and Lilly Riascos, both of Colombia, and Margarita Riascos of Florida; a brother, Arcescio Riascos of Colombia; and three grandchildren. Audrey Marilynn Ricaud of Hendersonville, N.C., formerly of Kingston, N.Y., and White Plains, N.Y., died Saturday, Oct. 11, at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C. She was 79. She died of heart failure according to her family. Born Aug. 6, 1924, in Kingston, she was a daughter of Beulah and Edward Newman. Mrs. Ricaud was a native of Kingston and lived in White Plains until moving to Hendersonville in 1984. She was a volunteer at the Hendersonville Welcome Center and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hendersonville. She is survived by a son, Robert E. Ricaud of Cincinnati; three daughters, Dale Patricia Holmes of Smyrna, Ga., Pamela Solleveld of Stamford and Sharon Erickson of Shrub Oak, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren. John E. Rice, a longtime Norwalk resident and former Dorr-Oliver employee, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Norwalk Hospital. He was 81. He died from a heart attack, according to his family. Born Sept. 5, 1922, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Louis and Evelyn Barth Rice. Mr. Rice attended Brooklyn Technical High School, CCNY Engineering College and the University of Connecticut in Stamford. He enlisted in ROTC in September 1940 and served in the U.S. Army for four years. He served in the Ordnance and Infantry divisions in Normandy and in the Rhineland campaigns, as well as the Philippine Liberation and Japan occupation. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. At the beginning of the Korean War, Mr. Rice served in the 50th Armored Division, New Jersey National Guard. He was employed by Dorr-Oliver Company of Stamford for 32 years and was a senior executive for Global Operations Planning and Control. He also previously held management positions in engineering design and technical/scientific data processing. Mr. Rice spent four years with T-Bar Inc. in Wilton, in systems management and worked eight years as an independent engineering design consultant. He was actively involved in the Norwalk United Methodist Church for almost 50 years, beginning as a Sunday school teacher. He also served on the financial and membership committees and as Communion steward. In retirement, Mr. Rice volunteered time to shop and prepare meals in the church kitchen for the Manna House. He was a member of the Dorr-Oliver Retirement Group and past member of the U.S. Naval Institute and National Microfilm Association. Mr. Rice is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Rice; two sons, John R. Rice of Newington and Keith D. Rice of Milford; two daughters, Laurel Rice Gray of Trumbull and Nancy Rice Mathews of Fairfield; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis U. Rice and David P. Rice; and a sister, Eileen Rice May. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Norwalk United Methodist Church, 718 West Ave., Norwalk.
