Sarah Ronda, a longtime Greenwich resident, died Thursday, July 4, at Greenwich Hospital. She was 78. She died of heart complications brought on by Alzheimer's disease, her family said. Born Sept. 29, 1923, in Stamford, she was a daughter of the late Vito and Carmella Sabia Stolfi. Educated in Stamford, Mrs. Ronda was a member of the Greenwich Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and spent most of her life on missionary assignments in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Connecticut. She also worked for Pitney Bowes in Stamford and in the accounting department of Conde Nast Inc. in Greenwich She had lived in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich for 32 years. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William S. Ronda of Greenwich; a son, Mark W. Ronda of Greenwich; and a daughter, Gail L. Reznik of Greenwich; two brothers, Michael Stolfi and David Stolfi, both of Stamford; three sisters, Lucy Benedict and Rebecca Lysen, both of Stamford, and Nellie Geriak of Darien; and four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Daniel Stolfi and Jeremiah Stolfi; and two sisters, Jenny Richter and Mary Amente. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 126 Newtown Ave., Norwalk. Charles Woody of Patterson, N.Y., will officiate. Burial will be private. Rose M. Comito Rondano, a longtime Darien resident and homemaker, died Sunday, Jan. 5, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 95. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born May 18, 1907, in Springdale, she was a daughter of the late John and Victoria Reggio Comito. Her parents lived in Reggio Calabria, Italy, before immigrating to the United States. A former Springdale resident, Mrs. Rondano attended Stamford High School. She worked at the former Sacred Heart Convent in Darien and at the A&P in Stamford. She was a member of St. John Church in Darien. She had a lifelong passion for cooking and was an avid pinochle player. She is survived by three sons, Frank Rondano Jr. of Darien, John Rondano of Bethel and William Rondano of Minnetonka, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Rondano Sr.; three sisters, Catherine Comito Lombardo, Vincenza Comito and Marie V. Comito Micelotta; and five brothers, Frank Comito, Pat Comito, James Comito, Bruno Comito and Michael Comito. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 7, at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. Alexander L. "Wally" Roscillo, a mason and lifelong Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Stamford Hospital. He was 89. He died of respiratory failure due to pneumonia, according to his family. Born March 7, 1914, in Stamford, he was a son of the late Gennaro and Michelina Bergolo Roscillo. Mr. Roscillo worked for several building contractors in Connecticut and New York. He also worked for the Stamford Highway Department, retiring in 1977. He attended Stamford schools and was a member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Since 1937, he was a member of union Local No. 8 and Local No. 1. Mr. Roscillo is survived by a daughter, Margie Cyr of Stamford; a sister, Dina Santore of Stamford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Fanny "Fay" Rossetti Roscillo; a brother, Angelo Roscillo; and a sister, Angie Caporizzo. Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 21, at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. Irene Rose, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Stamford Hospital. She was 67. She died of a cerebral hemorrhage, according to her family. Born July 20, 1936, in Stamford, she was a daughter of Mary Sienkiewicz Mackewicz of Stamford and the late Michael Mackewicz. Mrs. Rose was a graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1954. She was a longtime insurance secretary at Polis, Kaufman & Blackwood, formerly of Stamford. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Ron Rose of Stamford; two sons, Harry Smith of Florida and Jeff Smith of North Carolina; a stepson, Kevin Rose of Shelton; a stepdaughter, Sharon Milone of Danbury; two brothers, Edward Mackewicz of Bedford, Texas, and Michael Mackewicz of Lebanon; two sisters, Barbara Eilertsen and Lillian Kulis, both of Stamford; and five grandchildren. A prayer service will be at noon Monday, Oct. 6, at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. The Rev. Robert Post from St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church in Darien will lead the service. There are no calling hours. Burial will be private.

Dr. Elmer M. Rosenblum, a lifelong Stamford resident, died Thursday, Jan. 8 at Stamford Hospital. He was 94. He died of natural causes, according to his family. Born Nov. 13, 1909 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ida Stein Rosenblum. Dr. Rosenblum was a self-employed dentist who practiced in Stamford for 67 years until his retirement. He was a former president of the Stamford Jewish Center, now known as the Jewish Community Center. He was also active in the dental clinic run by the Visiting Nurses Association in Stamford for many years. Dr. Rosenblum is survived by his two sons, Stewart Gordon Rosenblum of New York and Robert Gordon Rosenblum of Norwich, Vt.; two brothers, Ted Rose of Camarillo, Calif. and Cecil Rosenblum of Lakeland, Fla.; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet Gordon Rosenblum, in 1990; and three brothers, Irving Rosenblum, Mordy Rose and Eugene Rose. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11 at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Burial will follow in Beth El cemeteryin Stamford. Glen S. Rosengarten, a Greenwich resident and founder of The Food Emporium, died Saturday, Nov. 2, at home. He was 54. He died of complications from lymphoma, according to his family. Born Nov. 6, 1947 in New York City, he was the son of Martin Rosengarten of White Plains, N.Y., and the late Roslyn Goldenberg Rosengarten. Mr. Rosengarten created The Food Emporium and retired as president of Shopwell Inc./Food Emporium. He was honored by the Anti-Defamation League and was a member of Temple Sholom and the Young Presidents Organization. Besides his father, he is survived by three daughters, Danielle B. Rosengarten of Stamford, Michelle J. Rosengarten of New York City and Haley R. Rosengarten of Greenwich; and two brothers, Jay Rosengarten of Stamford and Richard Rosengarten of Shelton. A service will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 4 at Temple Sholom, 300 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant cemeteryin Hawthorne, N.Y. Adele Rossi of Orlando, Fla., a former Stamford resident, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, at The Gables Retirement Home in Orlando. She was 98. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Dec. 24, 1904, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Pelizza Conte. Mrs. Rossi worked for Southern New England Telephone Co. in Stamford for many years. She was a member of the Pioneers. She also was an avid traveler. She is survived by a son, Robert Rossi of Orlando; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Sylvester Rossi; and her daughter, Laura Kaszics. Calling hours will be noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at Leo P. Charles A. Rossiter Jr. of Stamford died Jan. 14 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. He was 59. He died of complications from diabetes, according to his family. Born in Malden, Mass., he was a son of Mary Madden Rossiter of Melrose, Mass., and the late Charles A. Rossiter. Mr. Rossiter grew up in Melrose and moved to Stamford in the early 1970s. He graduated from Malden Catholic High School, attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., and graduated from Suffolk University in Boston, where he received a master's degree in business administration. Mr. Rossiter worked as a revenue agent for the Internal Resvenue Service in Norwalk for more than 20 years. He began his career at the North Andover, Mass., facility and moved to Stamford to work for the IRS in Norwalk. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a twin sister, Margaret W. Mary Roven of Stamford and Miami Beach, Fla., co-founder of Roven's Curtain Shops, died Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. She was 96. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Oct. 29, 1906, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late David and Anna Fogel Labovitz. Mrs. Roven and her husband founded Rovens Curtain Shop on Atlantic Street in 1932. She was a member of Congregation Agudath Sholom and Hadassah in Stamford. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine R. Sharlach of Stamford; two sons, Lawrence W. Roven of Ashland, Ore., and Fred J. Roven of Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; a brother, Saul Lawrence of Parkland, Fla.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Roven; and a sister, Sylvia Greene. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St., Stamford. Jacques A. Roy of Stamford, a retired plant engineer, died Thursday, Sept. 4, at home. He was 67. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born Oct. 25, 1935, in Acton Vale, Quebec, Canada, he was a son of the late Joseph and Gertrude LaChapelle Roy. Mr. Roy moved to Stamford in 1962. He worked as a plant engineer at Clairol Inc. in Stamford for 30 years. He was a member of the Stamford Art Association, the Stamford Camera Club and the Art Society of Old Greenwich. An avid photographer, he exhibited his work at the Faber Birren National Award Show, One Landmark Square, the Ferguson Library and the Art in the Yard Benefit, all in Stamford; the Rowayton Art Center in Norwalk; and the Sidewalk Show in Old Greenwich. His photographs received numerous awards and honors. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mariette Picard Roy of Stamford; two sons, Jacques M. Roy of Trumbull and Claude N. Roy of Woodbridge; two brothers in Quebec; six sisters in Quebec; two grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada. He was predeceased by a son, David Roy. Raymond Richard Rozanski Sr. of Danbury, a former Stamford resident, died Saturday, April 13, at Danbury Hospital. He was 65. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born in Jan. 24, 1937, in Stamford, he was the son of the late John and Mary Rozanski Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rozanski of Danbury; three sons, Larry Davis and Raymond Rozanski Jr., both of Danbury, and Tom Rozanski of Kent, N.Y.; three daughters, Catherine Dellipoali and Amber Rozanski, both of Naugatuck and Janet Lang of Newtown; two brothers, John Rozanski Jr. of Danbury, and Robert Rozanski of Clarks Summit, Pa.; a sister, Janet Rozanski of Stamford; and 10 grandchildren. Dr. James Rubin, a lifelong Stamford resident and dentist, died Monday, Sept. 29, at the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford. He was 81. He died of complications from cancer, according to his family. Born April 5, 1922, in New York City, he was the son of the late Samuel and Julia Rubin. Dr. Rubin attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Northwestern University Dental School in Evanston, Ill. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Dental Corps during World War II. In 1947, he returned to Stamford to start a dentistry, where he remained in practice until 1998. In a 1997 article in The Advocate, Dr. Rubin described a half-century of work with generations of patients. "They are my family. And I'm part of theirs," he said. "I consider myself blessed. I found a way to make a living that I really get a kick out of." Dr. Rubin served as a former president of the Stamford Dental Association, former president of the Connecticut State Dental Association and former vice president of the American Dental Association. He also was a member of the International Congress of Dentists and the American College of Dentists, New England Section. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cecile Frankel Rubin of Stamford; two daughters, Karen Rubin of Greenwich and Faith Rubin of Washington, D.C.; and a niece. He was predeceased by a daughter, Amy Rubin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Temple Sinai, 458 Lakeside Drive, Stamford, with Rabbi Marc Disick officiating. Anne K. Ruttenberg, a bookkeeper and longtime Stamford resident, died Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield. She was 96. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born Oct. 18, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Abraham and Bessie Ruttenberg. Miss Ruttenberg worked at the former Grand Central Market and Hartford Provisions in Stamford. She also volunteered with the Stamford Red Cross. She is survived by her half-sister, Betty Levy; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 9 at Agudath Sholom cemeteryin Stamford. Frances Nancy Ryan, a lifelong resident of Norwalk, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 69. She died of a heart attack, according to her family. Born Nov. 8, 1932, in Norwalk, she was a daughter of Johanna Wade Powers of Danbury and the late James Powers. Mrs. Ryan was a 1950 graduate of Norwalk High School. Born Sept. 8, 1927, in Honduras, she was the daughter of the late Isidoro and Maria P. Altamirano Sabillon. Miss Sabillon immigrated to the United States from Honduras in 1988. She lived in Stamford for 12 years until moving to Norwalk. She was a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter, Vilma C. Sabillon of Norwalk; and three grandsons. Donald E. Sage, a Stamford resident, died Monday, Dec. 30 at Stamford Hospital. He was 63. He died after fighting cancer for 12 years, according to his family. Born June 17, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the son of the late David and Isabel Sage. Mr. Sage graduated with honors in 1961 from Syracuse University, where he was a member of the Alpha Chi Rho fraternity and the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. After graduation, he joined the Arthur Andersen accounting firm and, shortly after, he was assigned by the U.S. Army to serve as a commissioned officer in South Korea. There, he commanded a tank platoon in the demilitarized zone. After his tour of duty, Mr. Sage became a certified public accountant and joined Olin Corp. in Stamford, where he worked for 35 years, including a position as manager of federal tax compliance. He earned a master's degree in taxation in 1985. He is survived by his wife, Martha Carmon Sage of Stamford; a son, Bryan E. Sage of New York City; a daughter, Laura A. Sage of New York City; and a brother, David M. Sage Jr. of San Francisco, Calif. Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5 at the Nicholas F. Wilfred F. Saint of Brewster, Mass., a former Stamford and Brookfield resident, died Saturday, Feb. 8, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass. He was 71. He died of a heart attack, according to his family. Born Feb. 25, 1931, in Taunton, Mass., he was the son of the late Wilfred and Catherine Saint. Mr. Saint served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he worked for several corporations. He retired in 1996 from Duracell Inc. in Bethel, where he was a marketing executive. He was an active member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Chatham, Mass. He was a member of the Newcomer's Club on Cape Cod, The Orleans Massachusetts Coffee Club and several wine tasting groups on Cape Cod. He is survived by his wife, Olwen Saint of Brewster; three sons, Richard Saint and Wilfred Saint, both of Stamford, and Lincoln Silver of San Francisco; a daughter, Maggie Brassell of Philadelphia; and two grandchildren. Ely F. "Frank" Salvarezza Jr. of Middlebury, a former Stamford resident, died Thursday, Nov. 7, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was 58. He died of cancer, according to his family. Born March 14, 1944, in Stamford, he was the son of the late Ely F. and Ann M. Vento Salvarezza. Mr. Salvarezza was a teacher for the city of Stamford for 31 years, retiring in 1999. He worked for the Middlebury and Stamford police departments on a part-time basis. He was a past member of the Middlebury Social Club and was active in Middlebury Little League. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Boccuzzi Salvarezza of Middlebury; a son, Sean F. Salvarezza of Oakville; a daughter, Erica L. Croke of Waterbury; a sister, Barbara Yantorno of Darien; two grandsons; two nieces; and two nephews. Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albino Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. A service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Margaret Chudy Samuelson

Margaret Chudy Samuelson, a longtime resident of Weston for 56 years and a former resident of Darien, died Thursday, Dec. 18, at her home. She was 86. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born March 28, 1917, in Sandy Hook, she was a daughter of the late John Chudy and Suzanna Katana Chudy. Mrs. Samuelson was raised in Darien and graduated from Darien High School in 1935. She was one of the first dispatchers for Weston Emergency Services before retiring. Mrs. Samuelson also was active with the senior citizens in Weston and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown. She is survived by two sons, Eric C. Samuelson Jr. of New Milford and Kenneth Samuelson of Shapleigh, Maine; a daughter, Diana Samuelson of Weston; two sisters, Jo Mitchell of Darien and Helen Pataky of Florida; a brother, George Chudy of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Samuelson was predeceased by her husband, Eric C. Samuelson; and a son, Joseph Samuelson. Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 W. Church St., Georgetown. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, Georgetown. Lorenza "Lolly" Pugliese Santomauro, a lifelong Greenwich resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Greenwich Hospital. She was 81. She died of natural causes, according to her family. Born June 12, 1921, in Greenwich, she was a daughter of the late James and Louise Pugliese. A graduate of Greenwich High School, Mrs. Santomauro was a longtime employee of Pitney Bowes in Stamford and Greenwich Hospital. She enjoyed quilting, baking and volunteering at Back Country Kitchen of Greenwich. Mrs. Santomauro is survived by her daughters, Gloria Sanchez of St. Augustine, Fla., and Mary Ida Piacente of Mamaroneck, N.Y.; a brother, Lawrence Pugliese of Byram; three sisters, Eleanor Balmis of Stamford, Gloria Farina of New Jersey and Rose Fallanca of Norwalk; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Roch Church, St. Roch Avenue, Greenwich. A committal service will follow at St. Mary's cemeteryin Greenwich. Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. County Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
