Dr. Mario Pasquale Rocco
KENSINGTON – Dr. Mario Pasquale Rocco, 89, of South Slope Drive, husband of Carmella (Biello) died Wednesday night (May 7, 2003) at home with his family at his side. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Joseph and the late Concetta (Cianflone) Rocco, he graduated from New Britain High School, received his Bachelor's degree from Ohio University, and received his Medical degree from Georgetown School of Medicine. He began his professional career at St. Francis Hospital and Hartford Hospital before going into private practice and devoting himself to fifty-seven years of medicine. He was a member of St. Paul Church, a member and vice president of Calabria Mia Society, and a Fire Commissioner for the city of Hartford. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Marie Horan of Essex, and Maria Molinsky, a son, Dominic Barone, a sister, Jeanne R. Grandahl of Enfield, three grandsons, two granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Patrick "Buddy" Rocco, and a sister, Maryann Lapenta. Funeral services will be held Monday (May 12, 2003) at 9am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul's Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday (May 11, 2003) from 4-7pm.

Lola (Starzec) Roman
BERLIN – Lola (Starzec) Roman, 83, of 506 Worthington Ridge, the widow of Veto V. Roman, died Wednesday (August 13, 2003) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Berlin, the daughter of the late John and the late Eleanora (Sliva) Starzec, she graduated from Berlin High School, and was a member of St. Paul’s Church. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Roman of Plymouth, and Daniel V. Roman of Wolcott, a sister Clara DiPietro of Kensington, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday (August 16, 2003) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul’s Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday (August 15, 2003) from 5-8pm.

Annette (Klopp) McQueeney
BERLIN – Annette (Klopp) McQueeney, 83, of Farmington Avenue, Berlin, the widow of John Edward McQueeney, died Thursday (August 28, 2003) at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Ernest and the late Annette (Nablo) Klopp, she graduated from New Britain High School, and from New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing, and was the head nurse at The Jerome Home in New Britain until her retirement. She is survived six sons, Ralph McQueeney of Windsor, Mark McQueeney of New Castle, Indiana, Russell McQueeney of Kensington, Paul McQueeney of Bristol, Jonathan McQueeney of Hebron, and Gerald McQueeney of Plainville, two daughters; Annette Twedie of Phoenix, Arizona, and Margaret Mac of Clearwater, Florida, sixteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will be held in Fairview cemetery in New Britain at the convenience or the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in her memory to a charity of the donors choice.

John Edward McQueeney
BERLIN - John Edward McQueeney, 77, of 148 Farmington Avenue, the husband of Annette (Klopp) McQueeney, died Wednesday night (September 1, 1999) at a local convalescent home. Born in Berlin, he graduated from Berlin High School in 1941, and was superintendent of construction for the Tomasso Company for 9 years. He was a former chairman of the Democratic Town Committee and former chairman of the Building Committee for the Town of Berlin. In addition to his wife, he is survived six sons, Ralph McQueeney of Windsor, Mark McQueeney of New Castle, Indiana, Russell McQueeney of Kensington, Paul McQueeney of Bristol, Jonathan McQueeney of Hebron, and Gerald McQueeney of Plainville, two daughters; Annette Twedie of Kingwood, Texas, and Margaret Mac of Clearwater, Florida, 16 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at Porter’s Funeral Home in Kensington at the convenience or the family. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours.

Harrison Conner Jr.
KENSINGTON & OLD LYME – Harrison Conner Jr., 67, beloved husband of Florence (Tolomea) Conner, of Bernard Road, Kensington, and Old Lyme, died peacefully on Wednesday (August 3, 2003) at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Harrison Conner Sr. and the late Helen (Wacker) Conner, he graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School, served in the U.S. Army, was employed at Burroughs Corporation, and retired from Keiler and Company. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, active in The Boy Scouts of America, and an avid woodcarver. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna Conner of Higganum, two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Joseph Tenore of Berlin, and Kathleen and David Bernard of Kensington, a sister, Mary Rodick of Plantsville, six grandchildren, Mitchell and Michelle Conner, Michael and Kayla Tenore, and Conner and Jacob Bernard, several nieces and nephews, and two very special friends, Douglas Watrous, and Robert Parzych. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday (September 6, 2003) at 10am DIRECTLY at St. Paul’s Church on Alling Street. Burial will follow in Old South Burying Ground, Kensington. Friends and relatives are invited to call at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington on Friday (September 5, 2003) from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to Pallative Care/Hospice Fund, or to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center Fund, at Hartford Hospital, 80 Seymour Street, Hartford 06102-5037, or to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10021.

Edward Emil Georgini
KENSINGTON – Edward Emil Georgini, 92, of 94 Carbo Lane, Kensington, died Monday night (September 8, 2003) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Kensington, the son of the late John and the late Victoria (Careri) Georgini, he attended local schools, served in the US Army Air Corps in Italy in WWII, and retired from Fafnir Bearing Company. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, American Legion Post #68, and V.F.W. Post #10732. He is survived by a brother, Dante Paul Georgini of Marlboro, New York, three nephews, Frank Shekosky Sr., James Shaw, and Philip Georgini, two nieces, Marie Grace and June Dressing, a grandnephew, Frank Shekosky Jr., two grandnieces, Karen Lee and Cindy Peterson, three great-grandnieces, Heather and Mandy Lee, and Kimberly Shekosky, and a great-great-grand nephew, Corbyn Redman. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Albert, and Edward Georgini, and a sister, Mafalda Shekosky. Funeral services will be held Friday (September 12, 2003) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul’s Church on Alling Street. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9am until the departure to church.

Margaret “Meg” (Givens) Shine
KENSINGTON – Margaret “Meg” (Givens) Shine, 62, of York Road, Kensington, died pecefully Wednesday morning (September 17, 2003) at home from cancer. Born in Stafford Springs, the daughter of the late John and the late Margaret (Smith) Givens, she was employed at Aetna Life and Casualty for twenty-nine years, and most recently worked at the Y.W.C.A. in New Britain. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Earl T. Shine, a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Dan Dean of Springfield, Massachusetts, a son, Bradley Parandes of East Hampton, a step-daughter, Kelly Mangiofico of Berlin, a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Mike and Ann Marie Shine of Southington, two brothers and a sister-in-law, John Givens of West Hartford, and Mark and Elda Givens of Bridgewater, New Hampshire, a sister and brother-in-law, Penny and Hank Harnish of West Springfield, Massachusetts, a sister-in-law, Georgianna McGuire of Washington D.C., nine grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Monish. A prayer service will be held Tuesday (September 23, 2003) at at 7:30pm at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington. Burial in Wilcox Cemetery, East Berlin, at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (September 23, 2003) from 4:30-7:30pm. Donations in her memory may be made to the Y.W.C.A., P.O.Box 2545, New Britain 06050-2545, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
