Albina (Farina) Zottola
KENSINGTON – Albina (Farina) Zottola, 88, of New Britain Road, the widow of Anthony Zottola, died Monday (November 17, 2003) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Battista and Mary (Mangone) Farina, she was employed in the Kensington Grammar School and Berlin High School cafeterias until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, and the Fratallanza. She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Kaminski and Florine Votino, both of Kensington, three grandsons, James Karam Jr., Anthony Karam, and Anthony Votino, one great-grandson, James Andrew Karam, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Oreste and Edward Farina, and a granddaughter, Joanne Votino. Funeral services will be Friday (November 21, 2003) at 9am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liurgy at 10am at St. Paul's Church in Kensington. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (November 20, 2003) from 5-8pm.

Santina (Infante) Fields
BERLIN – Santina (Infante) Fields, 77, of Madison Drive, the widow of William Arch Fields, died Sunday afternoon (November 23, 2003) at home. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Domenic and the late Letizia (Sorentino) Infante, she graduated from New Britain High School, and was employed at The Stanley Works until her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, William and Louise Fields of Herman, Missouri, a son John J. Fields with whom she made her home, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Martin and Rosemarie Infante of Meriden, and Domenic and Molly Infante of Torrington, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Eleanor and James Frawley and Anna and Guido Talarico, all of Southington, and Matilda Toce of Unionville, one granddaughter, Jennifer Fields, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Richard Michael Fields, two brothers, Joseph and Luke Zito, and a sister, Ann Lantieri. Funeral services will be Wednesday (November 26, 2003) at 9am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul's Church in Kensington. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (November 25, 2003) from 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to The Joslin Clinic at New Britain General Hospital, 100 Grand Street, New Britain 06050, or to The American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden 06450.

Stanley P. Slusarz
BERLIN – Stanley P. Slusarz, 80, of Dunham Drive, the husband of Genevieve “Jeanie” (Baldyga) Slusarz, died Sunday afternoon (November 23, 2003) at a local convalescent home. Born in Hartford, the son of the late John and the late Agnes (Janiec) Slusarz, he served in the US Army in WWII, retired from Hartford National Bank, and most recently was employed at Dattco. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, V.F.W. Post #10732, and the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Frank Slusarz of West Hartford, a sister, Rose Carto of Haddam, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Slusarz, and a sister, Ann Gratenstein. Funeral services will be Wednesday (November 26, 2003) at 10am from Porter's Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11am at Sacred Heart Church on Cottage Street in East Berlin. Burial with full Military Honors will be in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (November 25, 2003) from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden 06450.

Lodovina “Lola” (Fogliati) Skonieczny
KENSINGTON – Lodovina “Lola” (Fogliati) Skonieczny, 84, of Church Street, the widow of Eugene Skonieczny, died Tuesday morning (March, 11, 2003) at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Kensington, the daughter of the late Frank and the late Josephine (Pentore) Fogliati, she graduated from Berlin High School in 1938, and was employed at Emhart Industries for 42 years until her retirement. She is survived by her loving cousins, Elsie P. Dorau of New Britain; Harry Pentore, Geraldine Bartkowski, and Lana Pentore, all of Kensington; Frank Ferrero of Windsor; Joan Runquist of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts; Madelyn Sheehan of Wilbraham, Massachusetts; and Dorothy Michelotti and Peter Dezzani, both of Fresno, California. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Polly Fogliati. Funeral services will be held Thursday (March 14, 2003) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at St. Paul’s Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday (March14, 2003) from 9am until the departure to church. Those who wish may make donations in her memory to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul’s Church, 485 Alling Street, Kensington 06037, or to The George Bray Cancer Center, New Britain General Hospital, P.O. Box 100, New Britain 06050-9923.

George J. Slimskey
BERLIN – George J. Slimskey, 88, of 172 Spruce Brook Road, the widower of Esther (Brechlin) Slimskey, died Thursday morning (January 23, 2003) at Westfield Manor Convalescent Home in Merden. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Charles and the late Kazimera (Lionas) Slimskey, he attended Berlin schools, and was employed at Emhart Corporation until his retirement. He is survived by a daughter-in-law, Susan (Chakalinsky) Slimskey of Meriden, a granddaughter, Suzanne E. Slimskey of Kensington, two brothers, Edward Slimskey of Berlin, and Leonard Slimskey of Meriden, and a sister, Irene Timko of Windsor Locks, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Allen G. Slimskey. A Prayer Service will be held Tuesday (January 28, 2003) at 10am at Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway, Kensington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday (January 28, 2003) from 9am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Paul Church, 479 Alling Streer, Kensington 06037.

Peter Thomas Tarca
NEW BRITAIN – Peter Thomas Tarca, 75, of New Britain, husband of Ann June (Giattino) Tarca, died peacefully Sunday evening (December 22, 2002) at New Britain General Hospital with his family at his side. Born in North Haven, the son of the late John and the late Theresa (Bonalini) Tarca, he graduated from New Britain High School in 1944, and was employed at General Electric for thirty-six years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, and General Electric Retirees Association. In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, he is survived by four sons, a daughter and their spouses, John and Barbara Tarca of Wallingford, Peter and Maureen Tarca of Carlisle, Massachusetts, James and Lynelle Tarca of New Britain, Louis and Jane Tarca of New Britain, and Jo Ann and Jeffrey Pandolfi of Cromwell, a brother, Aldo Tarca of Rocky Hill, three sisters, Anita Slusarski of Old Lyme, Mary Rampone of Berlin, and Irene Holligan of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts, a sister-in-law, Jean Tarca of Westerly, Rhode Island, nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Santina Pellegato, and a brother, Fred Tarca. Peter had a love of being with his grandchildren, and also enjoyed NASCAR racing. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday (December 28, 2002) at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main Street, New Britain. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in his memory The Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 574, Glastonbury 06033.

Steven Tryaskus
NEW BRITAIN – Steven Tryaskus, 49, of Tremont Street, died unexpectedly Thursday (January 23, 2003) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Stanley J. and the late Mary (Kaminski) Tryaskus, he graduated from New Britain High School, received his Bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University, was a manager for X-tra Mart in New Britain, and was a member of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. He is survived by a brother, Don Trask of New Britain, an uncle, The Rev. Ladislaus J. Kaminski of New Britain, and three cousins, Daniel, Gregory, and Frank Kupiec. Funeral services will be held Friday (January 31, 2003) at 9am from Porter’s Funeral Home, 111 Chamberlain Highway in Kensington, with a Funeral Liturgy at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Friends and relatives are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 9am until the departure to church.
