JULIA E. PAC
Julia E. Pac, of Kensington, died on July 8 [2003] at Andrew House Healthcare. She was the widow of Peter S. Pac.
Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Theresa Link. She was a Kensington resident since 1953 and was formerly employed at D & L Department Stores, retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. Paul's Church.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Gordon Wicke of Kensington with whom she made her home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lorretta Pac of Culeoka, Tenn., and Thomas and Carol Pac of Kensington; a brother, John Link of New Britain; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Dean Wicke, Jeffrey, Erin and Nichole Pac, Linda Nichols, Mario and Robert Pac; five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kristy Nichols, Eric, Cassius and Augustus Pac; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday at St. Paul's Church. Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain, was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Berlin Visiting Nurses Association, 240 Kensington Road, Berlin 06037.

HAROLD C. MAY
Harold C. May, 88, of Chamberlain Highway, the husband of Eleanor (Scheidel) May, died on Nov. 28 [2003]. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Lincoln "Carl" and the late Minnie (Baker) May, he attended local schools, and was employed at Emhart Corp. until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the American Red Cross and taught CPR both privately and at New Britain General Hospital and was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a cousin, Frederick Lockery of Plainville. A funeral service was held on Dec. 2 at Porter's Funeral Home, Kensington. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

EDWARD P. DEVIVO
Edward P. DeVivo, 76, of Edgewood Road, Kensington, husband of Patricia Ritchie DeVivo, died on Nov. 29 [2003] at Connecticut Hospice in Branford surrounded by his family following a battle with brain cancer.
A native of Berlin, the son of the late Louis A. and the late Anne (Caccavale) DeVivo, he was a 1944 graduate of Berlin High School. He is the founder of Dattco Inc. and began his career with the purchase of one school bus in 1944 and built his company over the years until his retirement in February. He was past president of the Berlin Lions Club, Board of Directors of the American Bus Association, past president of the New England Bus Association, retired assistant chief of the South Kensington Fire Department, corporator of the Klingberg Family Center, vice president of the South Burying Ground cemetery Association and a member of St. Paul's Church, Kensington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children and their families, Thomas and Sandra DeVivo of Kensington and their children, Michelle and Andy; Deborah DeVivo of Southington and her daughter, Sarah, Laurie and Edward Behmke of Bristol and their children Daniel, David and Steven; and Anne and Alex DeMesa of Roselle Park, N.J., and their children, Isabella and Trent; two brothers, Alphonse DeVivo and Louis DeVivo, both of Kensington; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Dec. 3 at St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Burial followed in Stockings Brook Cemetery, Kensington. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Connecticut Hospice Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford 06045.

NANCY MASSIRIO
Nancy (Riggio) Massirio, 85, of Berlin, died April 14 [2004] at Mapleview Manor, Rocky Hill. She was the widow of John E. Massirio.
Born in New Britain, she was a graduate of New Britain High School and operated Johnnie's Package Store, Berlin for over 30 years, retiring in the early 1980s. She was a member of St. Paul's Church.
Surviving are a son, James Massirio and his wife, Mary Ann of Berlin; two brothers, James Riggio and his wife, Dorothy of Berlin, and Michael Riggio and his wife, Ann of New Britain; two grandsons, John and Luke Massirio, both of Berlin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held April 19 at Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Paul's Church. Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
Donations may be made to St. Paul's Church, 479 Alling St., Kensington 06037.

Joseph Butkiewicz
Joseph Henry Butkiewicz, 77, of Newton Street, the husband of Eleanor (Archacki) Butkiewicz, died July 18, 2004 while fishing in Rocky Neck.
Born in New Britain, the son of the late Adam and the late Wanda (Monko) Butkiewicz, he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was employed at Fenn Manufacturing in Newington for 38 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Northwestern's Veterans Club where he played on the Sapphires baseball team, and General Haller Post No. 111.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Gail and John Dwyer of Berlin, and Lynne Butkiewicz of Kensington; a brother, Ronald Butkiewicz of West Haven; three grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, and James Dwyer; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Henry Butkiewicz.
Funeral services were held July 22 from Porter's Funeral Home, Kensington, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Paul's Church. Burial with full military honors followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., P.O. Box 1004, Meriden 06450-1004 or to the American Heart Association of Connecticut, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford 06492-0100.

Mary A. Smith
Mary A. Smith of Berlin died on July 16, 2004 after a long illness.
Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Raymond and the late Alice (Creagh) Smith, she was a graduate of New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing and St. Joseph College, West Hartford, and began her nursing career at New Britain General Hospital where it ended after 40 years of service. During those years she held a number of supervisory positions, and at the time of her retirement she was assistant director of Nursing Service. After her retirement she volunteered in the hospital's Pastoral Ministry Department. She was a member of the New Britain General Hospital Nursing Alumni, the Catholic Nurses Society, the Berlin Nurses, and St. Paul's Church.
She leaves a sister, Frances R. Smith of Berlin.
Burial was July 20, 2004 in the family plot in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain.
Porter's Funeral Service, Kensington was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel Montano
Daniel Thomas Montano, 35, of Kensington, died unexpectedly Sept. 11, 2004.
Born in New Britain, he was the husband of Laura Ann (Barnes) Montano and the son of Joseph V. and Vivian (Adams) Montano of Glastonbury.
He was employed as an insurance investigator by Hettrick, Cyr and Associates for the past nine years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Abigail Rose Montano; an unborn child due to be born in March 2005; a brother, James S. Montano of New Jersey; a grandmother, Rose Montano; one niece and two nephews, Bonnie, Colby and Nathan Poirier of Southington; and several cousins.
Services were held at Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, Kensington on Sept. 16, followed by funeral services at Kensington Congregational Church. Burial followed at Maple Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laura Ann Montano, 5 Ridgewood Lane, Kensington 06037 to be used to defray the children's educational costs.
