Joseph ‘Jody’ Cass, 32, was born in New Milford
Joseph B. “Jody” Cass, 32, a resident of Fountain Gate Lane, Palm Coast, Fla., since 1994, died Oct. 19 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Cass was born in New Milford. He was a 1994 graduate of Porter and Chester Institute in Watertown.
He was employed as a junior architect for several years by Stephen Cruz before opening his business, Cass Design Drafting, in Palm Coast.
His passions included his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, benefit poker runs, music, traveling, auto restoration, drawing and spending time with his fianceé, his family and his friends.
Mr. Cass is survived by his mother and father, Carolyn Cass-Larmore and J. Brad Cass; his stepfather, Art Larmore; three sisters, Janice Barnes of Raleigh, N.C., Carrie Larmore of Orlando, Fla., and Jessica Larmore of Flagler Beach, Fla.; his brother, Marty Cass of Gainesville, Fla.; his step-brother, Josh Larmore of Canaan; his grandmother, Dorothy Cass of Cornwall; his fianceé, Windy Chace; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In celebration of his life, a memorial will be held Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. at 36 Furnace Brook Road in Cornwall.

Edward Urban Sr., 79, father of Bridgewater man
Edward T. Urban Sr., 79, of Hanover Road, Newtown, died Oct. 20 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Helen (Pogorzelski) Urban.
Mr. Urban was born March 5, 1923, in New Milford, a son of the late Peter P. and Stella (Winchkiewicz) Urban.
He was an Army Air Corps World War II veteran and served in the Italian theater of operations.
Mr. Urban was a resident of Newtown since 1953 and was employed as a machinist for the Bullard Company of Bridgeport until his retirement. He was a member of the Newtown Senior Center.
Besides his wife, Mr. Urban is survived by three sons, Edward Jr. of Kansas City, Kan., Stanley Sr. of Newtown, James of Bridgewater; three daughters, Helen of Manheim, Pa., Barbara Massey of Norristown, Pa., and Susan Elliott of Bethel; two brothers, Peter Jr. of Milford and Joseph of Land O’Lakes, Fla.; three sisters, Helen Potkay of Milford, Joy Rooy of St. Augustine, Fla., and Elizabeth Long of Trenton, N.J.; 15 grandchildren, Edward III, Theodore, Jason, Stanley Jr., Michael and Erhis Urban, David Massey Sr., Jack Massey Jr., James Elliott, Billie Jo Scobee, Samantha Walton, Anne Marie Young, Melissa Wright, Audrey Hoyt and Helen Rodriguez; and 22 great-grandchildren.
The Honan Funeral Home of Newtown handled arrangements.

Esther Beaudry, 74, mother of New Milford woman
Esther M. Beaudry, 74, of Trumbull died Oct. 19 at St. Vincent Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was the widow of Maurice D. Beaudry.
Mrs. Beaudry was born March 21, 1928, in Trumbull, the daughter of the late Antonio and Margaret (Palmiero) Carrano.
She was a Trumbull resident for most of her life and worked for the Aramark Food Service before retiring. She was an avid baker and also enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by a son, Michael and his wife Beth of Trumbull; two daughters, Margaret Armstrong and her husband Daniel Jr. of New Milford and Rosemarie Baker and her husband Robert of Shelton; a brother, Frank Carrano and his wife Ann of Bridgeport; a sister, Jennie Papa and her husband Dominic of Florida; five grandchildren, Heather Kovac, Sarah and Brittany Beaudry, and Michael and Mark Armstrong; a great-granddaughter, Jenisse Kovac.
She was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Leo, Nicholas and Anthony Carrano; and two sisters, Rose Falco and Mary Chieffe.
The Spadaccino Community Funeral Home of Monroe was in charge of arrangements.

Natale Butera, 48, was father of New Milford man
Natale N. Butera, 48, of Hausmann Road, Danbury, and Hobe Sound, Fla., died Oct. 19 at Danbury Hospital.
Mr. Butera was born July 10, 1954, in Platania Catanzaro, Italy, son of Caterina (Nicolazzo) Butera of Danbury and the late Michelangelo Butera.
He graduated from Henry Abbott Regional Technical School in Danbury as a mechanic. He moved to Florida and was a self-employed carpenter.
Besides his mother, he is survived by a son, Natale of New Milford; a brother, Gennaro and his wife Lina of Italy; two nieces, Daniela and Laura of Italy; an uncle, Tony and his wife Olga of Danbury; four aunts of Danbury, three aunts of Italy; and four uncles of Italy.
The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 405 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810.

Donald Taggart, 41, had siblings in area towns
Donald Elbert Taggart, 41, of Danbury died Oct. 15.
Mr. Taggart was born Nov. 11, 1960, in Waterbury, a son of the late Robert W. and Barbara Ann (Box) Taggart Sr.
He is survived by his paternal grandmother, Lydia of Danbury; a son, Donald Jr. of West Haven; two brothers, Robert Jr. of Kent and Jeffrey of Washington; a sister, Lisa Trudeau of Gaylordsville; a granddaughter; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in Center Cemetery in New Milford at a date and time to be announced.
The Colonial Funeral Home of New Milford is in charge of arrangements.

Veronica McCabe, 94, aunt of New Milford man
Veronica McCabe, 94, of White Plains, N.Y., formerly of Danbury and Bethel, died Oct. 15 at Nathan Miller Nursing Home in White Plains.
Ms. McCabe was born Oct. 3, 1908, in Fall River, Mass., daughter of the late Owen and Catherine (Macklin) McCabe.
She was a registered nurse. She graduated from White Plains Hospital School of Nursing and remained on the staff as a private duty nurse for some 50 years before retiring.
She is survived by two nieces, Kathleen Tauro of Enfield and Kathryn Barton of Danbury; three nephews, Laurence McKenna of New Fairfield, Donald McKenna of New Milford and John Hill of Danbury; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, John, and four sisters, Evelyn McCabe, Regina McKenna, Kathryn Hill and Marion McKenna.
The Green Funeral Home of Danbury handled arrangements.

Robert Nelson, 54, was a New Milford resident
Robert A. Nelson, 54, of New Milford died Sept. 27 after a long illness.
He is survived by a son, Jay of West Leyden, N.Y.; a daughter, Tonya Chiesa of Patterson, N.Y.; and three grandsons, Joseph and Marcus Chiesa, and Calub Nelson.
Friends are invited to a gathering Nov. 2 at the home of Caroline Green, 35 Aspetuck Ridge Road, New Milford. A blessing of the ashes will take place at 11 a.m.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Josselyn, 82, mother of New Milford man
Margaret F. Josselyn, 82, of Westport died Oct. 20 at the Filosa Convalescent Home in Danbury. She was the widow of Carlton A. Josselyn.
Mrs. Josselyn was born in Nova Scotia, Canada, Aug. 15, 1920, the daughter of the late Christopher and Clara Steger.
A longtime resident of Westport, she was a teacher for more than 20 years at the Greenfield Hills Congregational Church Nursery School in Fairfield.
She was an active member of First Church Congregational in Fairfield, where she was a member of the Women’s Fellowship and served in the church store.
She is survived by her three children, Kenneth S. Josselyn of New Milford, Wayne C. Josselyn of Westport and Cynthia Landin of Newtown; five granddaughters, Sarah Josselyn, Jessica Josselyn, Liane Josselyn, Melissa Landin and Julie Landin; and one great-grandson, Anthony Menillo III.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 3 p.m. at the First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield.
The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, is in charge of the arrangements.

Ruth Schwarz, 83, longtime Sherman resident
Ruth Joan Schwarz, 83, of 5 Hillside Drive, Sherman, died Oct. 16 at her home. She was the widow of William J. Schwarz Sr.
Mrs. Schwarz was born March 25, 1919, in Richmond Hills, N.Y., daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Hagstedt) Bennett.
She was a veteran of World War II and served in the United States Women’s Army Air Corps as a cryptographer with the rank of corporal.
She worked as an accountant for the Nassau County Probation Department, retiring in 1983 after 23 years of service.
Mrs. Schwarz was a member of the Catholic War Veterans, Danbury chapter and served as treasurer and liaison for the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a board member and volunteer at East Haven’s Veterans Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford and a resident of Sherman for 30 years.
Mrs. Schwarz is survived by a son, William Jr. and his wife Connie; two daughters, Kathleen Gattung and Patricia Sharik and her husband Milan; six grandchildren, Melissa Gredulig and her husband Paul, Joseph and Michael Gattung, Billy, and Chris and Donald Schwarz; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Courtney Gredulig.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at 12:30 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Route 109, New Milford. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va., with military honors.
Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford today (Friday) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to New Milford Visiting Nurse Hospice, 68 Park Lane Road, New Milford, CT 06776.

Charles Carlson Sr., 66, was a New Milford native
Charles John “Bubby” Carlson Sr., 66, of Maple Street, Litchfield, died Oct. 10 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of Linda Mae (Thompson) Carlson.
Mr. Carlson was born Oct. 3, 1936, in New Milford, son of the late William John and Mildred Eunice (Niles) Carlson.
He attended New Milford schools and the Gilbert Home. He worked at the George Dudley dairy farm for many years and then worked for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Litchfield for 20 years.
He was a past member of the Bantam Fire Company. He participated in the Towne-Weik Horseshoe League in Morris and the Sky Top bowling league. He enjoyed riding his tractor and cutting wood.
Besides his wife, Mr. Carlson is survived by two sons, Charles Jr. of Litchfield and Michael of Torrington; two daughters, Mary DelMonte of Northfield and Sally of Litchfield; six brothers, Robert of Danbury, Frank of Cheshire, Edward of Pennsylvania, Walter of Middletown, William of Hartford and George of Boston; six sisters, Mary and Edna of New Milford, Barbara of Middletown, Nancy of Syracuse, N.Y., Eunice Barnes of Norwalk and Lena Thompson of New Milford; and nine grandchildren.
The Rowe Funeral Home of Litchfield was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Hoyt, 94, lived in New Milford
Elizabeth G. “Betty” Hoyt, 94, formerly of Danbury, died Oct. 13 at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Milford.
She was born in Danbury July 10, 1908, daughter of the late James E. and Margaret (Waters) Gallagher. She lived in Danbury most all of her life. She was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1925, and attended St. Elizabeth College in Convent Station, N.J.
Mrs. Hoyt had worked for many years as executive secretary for the former Community Chest of Danbury.
She was an avid golfer and was the Ridgewood Country Club’s ladies club champion 10 times.
She is survived by six nieces and nephews, James W. Gallagher of Madison, Wisc., Katherine Lappegaard of Jeffersonton, Va., Catherine “Missy” Lehaney of Stamford, Bradley J. Reynolds of Jeffersonton, Va., Patricia J. Reynolds of Cranston, R.I., and Peter V. Reynolds of Pebble Beach, Calif.; and a cousin, Suzanne L. Powers of New Milford. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated tomorrow (Saturday) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Danbury. There are no calling hours.
