Barbara M. Leib, 68, mother of New Milford man
Barbara Margaret Leib, 68, of Putnam Valley, N.Y., died Jan. 9 at Bethel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. She was the widow of James Leib.
Mrs. Leib was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Yonkers, N.Y.
She attended college at Concordia School of Nursing in New York. She was a nurse, a homemaker, and for the last 20 years, a home health care aide.
She spent much of her time as an active member of the church community at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Putnam Valley.
Mrs. Leib is survived by four sons, Stewart of Olmsted, Ohio, Karl of Crawfordsville, Ind., Paul of Putnam Valley and David of New Milford; three grandchildren, Kelsey and Elizabeth of Olmsted and Caitlin of New Milford; and two daughters in-law, Patricia of Olmsted and Karen of New Milford.
The Heritage Funeral Home of Putnam Valley was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury, CT 06810.

Ann Gonzales, 73, mother of New Milford woman
Ann M. Gonzales, 73, of Danbury died Jan. 9 at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Robert Gonzales.
Mrs. Gonzales was born March 14, 1930, in Bethel, daughter of the late Louis and Albertina (Davis) Eible.
She had attended Bethel schools and had been a lifetime area resident.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva VanTroy of Woodbury, and Carol Fowler and her husband Edward of New Milford; two brothers, Arthur Eible of Bethel and Daniel Eible of Danbury; a granddaughter, Amy Marek and her husband Joseph of Brookfield; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Kyle Marek; and her special lifetime friends, Eva Bruce, Margaret Michaels, Mary Mulvey, Dot Fowler and Linda Parks.
The Green Funeral Home of Danbury handled arrangements.

Sidney Brown, 83, grandfather of New Milfordite
Sidney C. Brown, 83, of North Port, Fla., and Westbrook, formerly of Danbury, died Jan. 7 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown.
He was the husband of Eileen D. Porter Cohn Brown and widower of Charlotte Virginia Cohn.
Mr. Brown was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Ridgefield, son of William M. and Louise Brown.
He married Charlotte Cohn on Dec. 7, 1941. He was drafted by the U.S. Army and trained in the Army Air Corps, and flew 23½ missions in the 34th Bomb Group as a gunner.
He was shot down twice, first over his own airfield in England and second over the Black Forest in Germany, where he was captured and held in a German prison camp for 13 months. He earned a Purple Heart, four Oak Clusters for successful missions, the Bronze Star and many other ribbons and medals for service to his country. He was active in a national ex-POW organization.
Mr. Brown retired early from the Perkin-Elmer Corporation in 1978 after working on numerous projects, especially the Mercury space capsule flown by Scott Carpenter. He also served on the Civilian Conservation Corps, building roads in Connecticut after World War II.
He is survived by a son, Ronald of Venice, Fla.; two daughters, Jo Ann of Danbury and Francine DeLelle of Stamford; seven grandchildren, Shelly of Middletown, Del., Michael of Venice, Fla., Stephanie Cypher of Waterbury, Meredith McDermott of Danbury, Jason DeLelle of New Milford, Michelle DeLelle of Stamford and Virgina Greenwood of Nokomis, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren, Jozlyn, Madison and Blain.
Mr. Brown will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery within the next three weeks and be honored at a military ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Theresa Hall, 83, former New Milford resident
Theresa Hall, 83, formerly of Second Hill Road, New Milford, died Jan. 9 in a nursing home in Chelsea, Mass. She was the widow of Harold Hall.
Mrs. Hall was born Dec. 22, 1919. She and her husband resided in New Milford for 40 years before moving to Pawcatuck.
She is survived by three children, John of Brookfield, Alan of New Milford and Jerri Longo of Massachusetts; five grandchildren, Kristine, Allison, Ashley and John Hall, and Michael Longo; and a great-grandchild, Jacqualyn Lindo.

Helen Pease, 89, was longtime resident, former NMHS teacher
Helen (Danahy) Pease, 89, of New Milford died Jan. 16 at the home of her son in El Paso, Texas. She was the wife of Howard E. Pease.
Mrs. Pease was born May 4, 1913, in Fort Edward, N.Y., daughter of the late Francis J. and Alice (Mooney) Danahy.
She was a graduate of Fort Edward High School and State College for Teachers in New York. She taught at Essex High School and Fort Edward High School in New York state and was a ninth-grade English teacher at New Milford High School from 1959 to 1969.
Mrs. Pease was a charter member of the New Milford PTA and served for a time as second vice president. She was a longtime member of the New Milford Visiting Nurse Association and a member of Family and Children’s Services.
She was active in the Garden Club of New Milford, the New Milford Hospital Auxiliary, the New Milford Historical Society and Lake Waramaug Country Club. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Pease is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Woodford and Mrs. Charles Bergeron; a son, Dr. Howard Pease; and seven grandchildren.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Route 109, New Milford.

Anne C. Wyant, 70, was longtime New Milfordite
Anne C. Wyant, 70, of New Milford died Jan. 20 at New Milford Hospital. She was the wife of Alfred Hillard Wyant Jr.
Mrs. Wyant was born Sept. 16, 1932, in the Bronx, N.Y., daughter of the late Oldrich and Josephine (Brown) Janotka.
She graduated from St. Alphona’s in the Bronx in 1950 and moved to New Preston in 1956, then to New Milford in 1964.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brookfield. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed crocheting.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Wyant is survived by two sons, Alfred III of New Haven and John and his wife Louise of New Milford; two daughters, Joanne Phanh and Dorothy Crocker and her husband Darin of New Milford; a brother, John Janotka of Queens Village, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy Janotka of New York City; three grandchildren, Ashley and Tara Phanh and Kyle Crocker. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Som Phanh.

Michael Regan, 88, was retired real estate agent
Michael Joseph Regan, 88, of 2 Putnam Road, New Milford, died Jan. 19 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Harriet (Bellion) Regan.
Mr. Regan was born March 26, 1914, in New York City, the son of the late Maurice and Mary Ellen (Collins) Regan.
He was employed in the real estate and mortgage business in the New Milford-Brookfield area, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Housatonic Council No. 40, in New Milford.
Besides his wife, Mr. Regan is survived by four sons, Michael and John of Brookfield, and Lawrence and Gregory of New Milford; a daughter, Harriet Whitlock of New Milford; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gisela A. Touch, 61, longtime New Milford resident
Gisela A. Touch, 61, of New Milford died Jan. 19.
Ms. Touch was born Feb. 11, 1941, in Berchtesgaden, Germany. After coming to the United States, she made her home in New Milford for the past 42 years.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford and had sung in its choir before her illness.
She worked for many years in the electronics field at local companies, most recently for Raytheon in Danbury.
Ms. Touch is survived by two daughters, Loretta Kretchko and her husband Robert of Pleasantville, N.Y., and Tina Haddad of New Milford; a son, Paul Haddad of Maryland; two grandchildren, Myles and Ryan Collins of New Preston; and her sister, Angela Schoenwolf and her husband Gottfried of Oldenburg, Germany.
The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury handled arrangements.

Margaret Wilson, 90, mother of Bridgewater doctor
Margaret “Bunty” H. Wilson, DDS, 90, formerly of Glastonbury, died Jan. 13.
Mrs. Wilson was born April 1, 1913, in Wycoff, N.J.
She attended Barnard College and studied dentistry at Tufts University. She was an avid skier and a breeder of Labrador retrievers.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Wilson, DDS of Austin, Texas; a son, Peter Wilson, MD of Bridgewater; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the spring in Treadwell, N.Y.

Robert Jones, 90, was insurance man, state rep
Robert F. Jones, 90, of Woodbury died Jan. 19. He was the widower of Marjorie Jones.
Mr. Jones was born Aug. 21, 1912, in Ludlow, Mass., son of the late Arthur M. Jones and Margaret F. Sikes. He was a Mayflower descendant.
He graduated from Brown University in 1934 and spent his career in the insurance industry, retiring in 1984 as executive vice president of W.J. Burton Insurance Agency in Woodbury and Pomperaug Valley Associates in Southbury.
He was a member of the Republican Town Committee in Woodbury and a past president of the Woodbury Parent Teacher Association. He was a member of the town’s high school and library building committees, a member of the Lions Club, and a committee chairman with Boy Scout Troop No. 54.
Mr. Jones was also a member of North Congregational Church and served on the board of deacons and the Stewardship Committee. From 1962 to 1966, he represented Woodbury in the Connecticut House of Representatives.
He is survived by five sons, Robert of Raymond, Maine, Richard of Bridgewater, William of Ruffsdale, Pa., and Douglas and Kenneth of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Feb. 15 at 3:30 p.m. at North Congregational Church in Woodbury.

Arlene Marie Gillette, 81, was active in community
Arlene Marie (Norman) Gillette, 81, of Roxbury died Jan. 17 at her home. She was the widow of Willis J. Gillette.
Mrs. Gillette was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Danbury, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Anderson) Norman.
She was educated in the Washington Depot school system and graduated from Danbury Teachers College, now Western Connecticut State University, in Danbury.
Mrs. Gillette worked at the Civil Service Commission in Washington, D.C., taught at the Bethlehem Elementary School for seven years, was a secretary at The Gunnery in Washington for several years and retired from the Roxbury tax collector’s office after 13 years of service. She was a member of the Roxbury Shepaug Club.
Mrs. Gillette is survived by a son, James and his girlfriend Linda Bradley of Roxbury; a daughter, Janis Gilbert and her husband Willie of Manchester; a sister, Audrey Wright and her husband Edwin of Washington Depot; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Shirley Boyett.
The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere was in charge of arrangements.
