Andrea Cole-McCann, 61, mother of New Milfordite
Andrea Grace (Flood) Cole-McCann, 61, of 61 Indian Lane, Woodbury, died Oct. 6 at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Cole-McCann was born April 25, 1938, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Francis W. and Grace M. (Franklin) Flood.
She is survived by three sons, Walter Cole Jr. and Quinn Cole, both of Woodbury, and Victor Cole of Pennsylvania; five daughters, Denise Bjorn of Albany, N.Y., Darlene Sims of Easton, Valerie Parker of New Milford, Terri Cole of Woodbury and Louann Perrucci of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, Frank Quinn Flood of Monroe; a sister, Robyn Serizant of Stratford; 30 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home of Naugatuck was in charge of arrangements.

Eugenie Evans, 92, one-room school teacher
Eugenie Evans, 92, of Macedonia Road, Kent, died Oct. 3 at Sharon Hospital. She was the widow of Theodore F. Evans.
Mrs. Evans was born Sept. 26, 1907, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Strube) Zeller.
She graduated from Cornell University in 1928 and attended her 70th reunion last year, being one of 13 attendees.
She helped sponsor four Chinese students in the United States, and in order to provide for them, she began teaching at the age of 48. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Warren. All of the children she sponsored graduated from college.
Mrs. Evans began the Kent senior citizen organization. She was active in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and was in charge of the Sunday school program for many years. She was a resident of Kent since 1939 and a curator of the Kent Art Association for many years.
She traveled extensively throughout Europe, Ireland, Hawaii and the Southwest.
Mrs. Evans is survived by a son, Robert L. Hall II of Kent; a daughter, Rosemary Demery of Denver; four grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. A former husband, Robert L. Hall Sr., is deceased.
The Kenny Funeral Home of Sharon was in charge of arrangements.

John Enright, 45, was New Milford resident
John K. Enright, 45, of Fogerty Lane, New Milford, died Oct. 12 in New Milford Hospital.
He was born Jan. 30, 1954, in White Plains, N.Y., a son of William F. and Betty Wetzel Enright Sr. of Lake Como, Pa.
Mr. Enright had been a Connecticut resident all of his life. A graduate Green Farms High School, Greens Farms, he attended the University of Bridgeport and Gettysburg College.
Mr. Enright was employed as a salesman for American Frozen Food for 22 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, New Milford.
He enjoyed hiking, boating, golfing and cooking.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Enright is survived by his companion, Terry Quinlan of New Milford; a son, Brian Enright of New Milford; a daughter, Jennifer Enright of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a brother, William F. Enright of Dallas, Texas; and two sisters, Barbara Anne Enright of Norwalk and Betty Lee Enright of Daytona Beach, Fla.
A memorial service will be held in the First Congregational Church, 36 Main St., New Milford, today (Friday) at 1 p.m. There are no calling hours.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Connecticut Affiliate Inc., P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492-7522.

Edward Altvater, 55, former Sherman official
Edward Thomas Altvater, 55, of 43 Maple Street Ext., Kent, died Oct. 10 at Danbury Hospital of heart complications after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Edith Thorp Altvater.
Mr. Altvater was born in Salisbury, Md., Sept. 16, 1944, a son of Josepha Castellana Altvater of Copake, N.Y., and the late Edward Altvater.
Before his illness, he was employed by the Risdon Manufacturing Corporation in Danbury as a manufacturing engineer.
He had lived in Sherman from 1978 to 1996, when he moved to Kent. He was a former member of the Sherman Board of Education and was a member of St. Peter's Lodge of Masons No. 21 A.F. & A.M. of New Milford.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Altvater is survived by two daughters, Frances A. Altvater of Boston and Eve Altvater of New Fairfield; and one sister, Angela Altvater of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He was predeceased by a son, Brian Altvater.
The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford was in charge of the arrangements.

Sandra Fisher, 57, leaves aunt in New Milford
Sandra (Marasco) Fisher, 57, of 26 Fairfield Ridge, Danbury, died Oct. 6 at the Glen Hill Health Care Center.
She was born in Danbury Oct. 4, 1942, a daughter of Anna (Yurik) Marasco of Danbury and the late George Marasco.
Ms. Fisher was a graduate of Danbury High School. She was employed as an inspector for Barden Corp., retiring after numerous years of service.
Besides her mother, Ms. Fisher is survived by a son, Jeffrey S. Fisher of Weston, Fla.; a half-brother, George Marasco of Danbury; a stepmother, Margaret Marasco of Bethel; and two aunts, Mrs. William McIlrath of New Milford and Alice Pazsak of Bridgeport.
The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.

Anthony McGarr, 93, was a New Milford native
Anthony W. McGarr, 93, of 51 Pickett District Road, New Milford, died Nov. 4 at New Milford Nursing Home. He was the husband of Julia (Emmons) (Caldwell) McGarr.
Mr. McGarr was born in New Milford June 18, 1906, a son of the late James and Mary (Hayes) McGarr. He was a graduate of New Milford High School.
He had been employed by the CL&P for 44 years, retiring in 1971 as an electrical serviceman. He was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church and a member of Housatonic Council No. 40, Knights of Columbus.
Besides his wife, Mr. McGarr is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Cummings of Annandale, Va.; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes (Monaghan) McGarr.

Clifford Burch, 61, had been corporate pilot
Clifford Gayle Burch, 61, of Upper Reservoir Road, New Milford, died Nov. 3 at Rose Haven in Litchfield. He was the husband of Mary Ann (Angelotti) Burch.
Mr. Burch was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, Feb. 20, 1938, a son of the late Gayle and Grace (Fishbach) Burch.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked as a corporate pilot for Chesebrough-Pond in White Plains, N.Y. for many years before his illness. He moved from Newbury, Ohio, to New Milford 22 years ago.
Mr. Burch was a former member of the Pootatuck Yacht Club in Stratford and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.
Besides his wife, Mr. Burch leaves a son, Brian G. Burch of New Milford; a daughter, Debbie L. Burch of New Milford; and a sister, Charlotte Dunne of North Kingsville, Ohio.

Charles Swift, 91, lived in Bridgewater, New Preston
Charles "Tom" Swift, 91, of East Shore Road, New Preston. died Nov. 3 at Adams House Health Care in Torrington.
He was born Dec. 17, 1907, in Bridgewater, son of the late Truman and Anna (Butts) Swift. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific.
Mr. Swift was employed by the state Department of Transportation and worked as a caretaker for the Reid family on Lake Waramaug.
He is survived by a sister, Flora Peet of Canton, and several nieces and nephews.

Norma Lucente, 93, mother of New Milford man
Norma T. Lucente, 93, of Danbury, a former resident of Port Chester, N.Y., died Nov. 5 in Danbury. She was the wife of the late Dominick Lucente, who died in 1990.
She was born July 19, 1906, in Dickenson Center, N.Y., a daughter of the late Archie and Myrtle (Morey) Tower. She was raised and educated in northern New York.
Mrs. Lucente was a retired school teacher who had taught in northern New York and in the Port Chester public schools. She was married June 29, 1929.
A parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester, she had been a Danbury resident for the past eight years.
Mrs. Lucente is survived by a son, Richard Lucente of New Milford; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers, Deforest and Archie Tower and her sister, Clara Hartson.

Vincent Krulak, 71, was local music professor
Vincent C. Krulak, 71, of Atwood Road, Woodbury, died Nov. 6 at Hartford Hospital.
Mr. Krulak was born July 19, 1928, in New Britain, son of the late Anthony and Michalina Judwiga (Kasprowicz) Krulak.
He received a master's degree from Yale University School of music in 1951. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1953.
Mr. Krulak was a professor of music at Western Connecticut State University until he retired in 1992.
He was a member of American Federation of Musicians Local 186 and a communicant of St. Teresa's Church in Woodbury.
Mr. Krulak is survived by a son, Keith A. Krulak of Washington, D.C; a daughter, Debra A. Krulak of Kent; a sister, Mary Holsing of Raleigh, N.C.; and a grandson.
The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere was in charge of arrangements.

George Downs, 62, father of New Milfordite
George Downs, 62, of 160 Mt. Pleasant Road, Newtown, died Nov. 7 at his home.
He was born Feb. 19, 1937, in New York City, a son of the late George Downs Sr. and Mary Shkira Downs Merck.
Mr. Downs was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School, Danbury, and was employed for many years as an auto mechanic for several dealerships, including Colonial Ford and Action Motors. He retired two years ago due to illness. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1373, Danbury.
Mr. Downs is survived by two sons, Michael J. Downs of New Milford and George Downs III of Nashua, N.H.; two sisters, Mary Roosevelt of Southbury and Barbara Downs of Danbury; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Downs is predeceased by a brother, Robert Downs and a sister, Jean Johnson.
The Bethel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
