John Fletcher, 83, had worked at Kimberly-Clark
John W. Fletcher, 83, of 40 Taylor Terrace, New Milford, died May 15 at New Milford Hospital. He was the husband of Allison (Lynott) Fletcher.
Mr. Fletcher was born March 19, 1919, in Peckville, Pa., son of the late John W. and Emma (Davis) Fletcher.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He served in the China-Burma-India theater with the 1st Air Commando Group, which flew C47s. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and A-R Medal and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a staff assistant with the Kimberly-Clark Corporation, retiring in 1980 after 40 years with the company.
Besides his wife, Mr. Fletcher is survived by two sons, William and Robert of New Milford; a daughter, Sharon Yarochowicz of Salina, Kans.; and eight grandchildren.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice White, 72, was sister of area residents
Beatrice (Pond) Chase White, 72, of Wingdale, N.Y., died May 17 at her home. She was the widow of Albert E. Chase and Allan R. White.
Mrs. White was born April 5, 1930, in Torrington, daughter of Geraldine (Bailey) Pond Marcou and the late Loyal S. Pond.
She had been a resident of Wingdale for the last 23 years and worked as a laundress/housekeeper at Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
Besides her mother of Culpeper, Va., she is survived by a son, William Chase of Wingdale; a daughter, Josephine Strothers of Wingdale; six brothers, Ronald Marcou of Catlick, Va., Loyal Pond and Olington Pond of New Milford, Warren Pond of South Kent, Wallington Pond of Pennsylvania and Stuart Pond of Washington; six sisters, Helen Beard of Lakeville, Phyllis Kostosz and Bonnie Jean Hall of New Milford, Lois Colby and Dean Woodard of Torrington and Rolanda Williams of Culpeper; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Lee Moore.
The Hufcut Funeral Home of Dover Plains, N.Y., was in charge of arrangements.

Edward Brelling, 76, father of New Milford man
Edward G. Brelling, 76, of West Redding died May 20 at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Mary Frances Homerston Brelling.
Mr. Brelling was born in Freeport, N.Y., Nov. 27, 1925, a son of the late Edward and Katherine Brelling.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy Amphibious Forces, and participated in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Brelling was employed for 28 years as senior mechanical design engineer with the former Perkin Elmer/Hughes Optical Systems Corporation in Danbury.
In addition to his wife, whom he married in November 1952, he is survived by his daughter, Pamela Kelley and her husband Daniel of Danbury; two sons, Ronald Brelling and his wife Kathleen of Bethel and Donald Brelling of New Milford; two sisters, Katherine Mason of New Jersey and Dorothy Mollo of Long Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Justin, Erin and Kyle Brelling.
Mr. Brelling was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Brelling, and two sons, Glen and James Brelling.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Friday) at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Georgetown. The interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ridgefield.
The Bouton Funeral Home in Georgetown is in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Alfred Bietighofer, 64, brother of New Milfordite
The Rev. Alfred John Bietighofer, 64, of Bridgeport died May 16 in St. Luke’s Institute, Silver Springs, Md.
The Rev. Bietighofer was born March 17, 1938, in New York, N.Y., son of the late Alfred J. and Margaret Mary (Flynn) Bietighofer.
He attended Holy Rosary Grammar School and Our Lady of Help Christians Cathedral College High School in New York, and also graduated from St. Mary College, St. Mary, Kentucky, and St. Maur Seminary, South Union, Ky. He was ordained Dec. 18, 1965, at St. Augustine Cathedral, Bridgeport.
Father Bietighofer’s assignments included Bridgeport, Stamford, South Norwalk, Norwalk and Peru.
He is survived by a brother, Robert of Marietta, Ga., and two sisters, Sheila of New Rochelle, N.Y., and Janice DeGiorgio of New Milford.

Robert Brennan, 28, brother of New Milford man
Robert L. “Bobby” Brennan, 28, of Meadowbrook Road, Danbury, died May 14 at his home.
Mr. Brennan was born Aug. 28, 1973, in Danbury, son of Harry J. and Helen M. (Brown) Brennan Jr.
He attended Danbury schools. He had been employed as a mechanic at Automated Waste Disposal, Inc., and had previously worked for Pete’s Tires and Talbot’s Vending Machines.
He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church.
Besides his parents, Mr. Brennan is survived by two brothers, Harry III and his wife Debbie of New Milford and Kenneth and his wife Tricia of Danbury; a sister, Colleen of Danbury; his fiancée, Dolores Hernandez of Danbury; a son, Christopher Hernandez of Danbury; his paternal grandfather, Daniel Brown of Greenfield, Tenn.; two nephews, Christopher and Kevin; and several aunts and uncles.
The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Wilson, 84, sister of New Milford resident
Helen (Marr) Wilson, 84, of Bethel, formerly of Greenwich, died May 16 at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Richard Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson was born March 11, 1918, in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Paterson) Marr. She was a resident of Bethel for six years.
She is survived by a son, Mark of Milford; a daughter, Leslie Doran of Bethel; two brothers, James “Bunny” Marr of Cos Cob and Fred Marr of Millbrook, N.Y.; a sister, Jean Schultz of New Milford; and six grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Marr.
The Castiglione Funeral Home of Greenwich was in charge of arrangements.

Frank Tyszkiewicz, 88, was a New Milford native
Frank G. Tyszkiewicz, 88, of 125 Chestnutland Road, New Milford, died May 16 at New Milford Nursing Home.
Mr. Tyszkiewicz was born Feb. 1, 1914, in New Milford, son of the late John and Antonia (Duda) Tyszkiewicz.
He was a self-employed mechanic.
He is survived by two brothers, Stanley of New Milford and Thomas of Enfield; four sisters, Josephine Kosteck of Greenwood, Del., Ann Kasabucki of Elizabeth, N.J., Frances Dahle of Unionville and Helene Caivano of Absceon, N.J. He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Andrew and Joseph; and two sisters, Sofia Ziolkowski and Mary Higgins.
The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford was in charge of arrangements.

Susan Pribanic, 48, had been an RN at local hospital
Susan M. Pribanic, 48, of 120 Mountain View Drive, New Milford, died May 22 at the Laurel Ridge Health Center, Ridgefield, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Russell Pribanic.
Mrs. Pribanic was born in Saint Cloud, Minn., June 25, 1953, daughter of Robert Jennings of Saint Cloud and the late Phyllis Paquette Jennings.
She was a registered nurse at New Milford Hospital and had retired in 1996 because of her illness.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by a son, Justin Pribanic of New Milford; a daughter, Emily A. Pribanic of New Milford; six brothers; and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Route 109, New Milford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford, Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Frank Szymanski, 81, brother of Roxbury man
Frank Edward Szymanski, 81, of Las Cruces, N.M., died May 12 at Memorial Medical Center. He was the husband of Doris Szymanski.
Mr. Szymanski was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Danbury to Francis Szymanski and the late Agnes (Cirkowski) Szymanski.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in South Africa. He retired from Branson Ultrasonics in Danbury. He lived in Woodbury from 1973 to 1991. He was a longtime parishioner at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church in Las Cruces.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael of Las Cruces and David and his wife Virginia of Alpharetta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Daniel and Rachael; a brother, Stanley and his wife Marion of Roxbury; and seven nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter, and three sisters, Irene, Elizabeth and Ann.
The Graham Mortuary and Mesilla Valley Crematory of Las Cruces handled arrangements.

Ricky A. Shaw, 42, was born in New Milford
Ricky Allen Shaw, 42, of 117 North St., Seymour, died May 21 at New Milford Hospital.
Mr. Shaw was born Nov. 2, 1959, in New Milford, son of Ora E. and Jean (Yeomans) Shaw of Seymour. He spent his early life in New Milford.
Before his illness, he was a self-employed landscaper. He lived in Palm Harbor, Fla., from 1985 until 2001 when he moved to Seymour.
Besides his parents, Mr. Shaw is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Ycci of Palm Harbor, Amber Bergmann of Leesburg, Va., and Heather Shaw of Palm Harbor; two brothers, Gregory Shaw of Shelton and Mark Shaw of Derby; three sisters, Darlene Shaw of Derby, Sherry Shaw of Beacon Falls and Tammie Duda of Naugatuck; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, John Shaw.
A funeral service will be held today (Friday) at 11 a.m. at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in New Milford.

Marian Judson, 91, was a New Milford resident
Marian Gorham Judson, 91, of 203 Pickett District Road, New Milford, died May 21 at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in New Milford. She was the wife of the late Reginald DeWitt Judson.
Mrs. Judson was born in New Fairfield Nov. 16, 1910, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary E. Erickson Gorham. She retired as a clerk-secretary from the former First National Bank & Trust.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews and her companion, William H. Dodd of New Milford.
The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford was in charge of the arrangements.

Charlotte Raybeck, 89, was lifelong area resident
Charlotte M. Raybeck, 89, of New Milford died May 13 at the New Milford Nursing Home. She was the widow of Francis Raybeck.
Mrs. Raybeck was born March 14, 1913, in Danbury, a daughter of the late John W. and Julia M. (Bauer) Render Sr.
She was a lifelong area resident and was employed by the W.T. Grant Co., retiring in 1973. She worked her way up from sales clerk in the Danbury store to manager in the New Milford store.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Irene Insignares of Mahwah, N.J.
The Hull Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
