Lena M. Spadaccaini, 68, of High St. Middletown, formerly of
Rocky Hill, died on Wednesday, (September 25, 2002) at the
Middlesex Hospital.
Born on December 5, 1933, in Rocky Hill, daughter of the
late Dominick and Angelina (Carbonaro) Spadaccaini.
She had been a resident of Rocky Hill for 50 years before
moving to Middletown in 1980. A member of St. James
Church, Rocky Hill and St. Sebastian Church, Middletown.
She had been employed by the Hartford Bearing Co. retiring
in 1998 after 32 years of service.
She is survived by her beloved family, two sisters, Mary Ann
Gorman and Barbara Spada both of Middletown; two
brothers, James Spadaccaini of Rocky Hill, Joseph
Spadaccaini of FL. Also several nieces and nephews and
great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two sisters,
Constantina Janzyck and Jennie Jacobson.
The funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the
Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown,
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Sebastian
Church, Middletown, at 10 a.m with the Reverend Father
Patrick G. McCorry as celebrant.
Burial will be in the family plot in Rose Hill Memorial Park,
Rocky Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home TODAY from
6-8 p.m. Those who wish may make memorial donations to

Mrs. Lucia M. Bondi
May 15, 1910 – June 10, 2003
Lucia M. Bondi, 93, of Lincoln Street, Middletown, Connecticut, beloved
wife of the Late: John Bondi, died, Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at the Middlesex
Convalescent Home.
Born May 15, 1910 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the
Late; Emilio and Sebastiana (Zimmitti) Scamporino.
She had been a resident of Middletown most of her life. She was a member
and communicant of Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Middletown,
Connecticut, and the Sacred Heart Society, and the Saint Theresa Guild of
the Parish.
She is survived by her loving family, a son and daughter-in-law; Anthony J.
and Barbara Bondi of Higganum, Connecticut, a daughter and son-in-law;
Antoinette (Toni) and Robert Stark of East Hampton, Connecticut. A sisterin-
law; Josephine Bondi of Middletown, three grandchildren, two great
grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and four great step-grandchildren,
also several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers; Vincent and Frank Scamporino, and
two sisters; Francis Klein and Lillian Fiducia.
The Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2003 at 9:00 AM from the
Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown,
Connecticut, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Sebastian
Church, 155 Washington Street, Middletown, Connecticut, with the Very
Reverend Father Thomas J. Derito Smith, V.F., Pastor as celebrant and
homilist of the Funeral Mass.
Burial will be in Saint Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield, Connecticut with
Deacon Nicholas J. Cannata officiating.

Mrs. Lucy Lowry
June 4, 1912 – November 21, 2002
Lucy Lowry, 90, wife of Eric Lowry of 73 Lewis Street, Middletown,
died Thursday at Middlesex Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1912 in Middletown, daughter of the late
Gaetano and Josephine (Morello) Fiducia.
She was a member of Saint Sebastian Church, Middletown and the
Saint Theresa’s Guild and the Emblem Club.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Earl Lemley of
Bristol; three grandchildren, Kristen Roberts, Sharyn Lemley and
Michael Lemley; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and
nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Salvatore "Slam" Fiducia
and four sisters, Sebastiana "Anna" Morello, Emanuela "Nellie"
Halaby, Rose Smith and Angelina "Angie" Murray.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the D’Angelo
Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Sebastian Church, Middletown with the
Reverend Father Christopher J. Zmuda, Th.Psy.D., Parochial Vicar of
Saint Sebastian Parish as celebrant of the Funeral Mass.
Burial will be in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown, with
Deacon Nicholas J. Cannata officiating.

Mrs. Maria Edavazhickal
died Sunday, November 24, 2002 in Kerala, India
Mrs. Maria Edavazhickal, 78, mother of Sister Marykutty Edavazhickal, of
the Sisters of Our Lady of the Garden, died on Sunday, November 24, 2002,
in Kerala, India.
Sister Marykutty returned home to India for her mother’s funeral and to be
with her family during this time of mourning. Sister Marykutty is a
Religious Sister of the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of the
Garden and teacher at the Gianelli Early Learning Center, a Nursery School
that emphasizes the Montessori Method of teaching, located at 67 Round Hill
Road, Middletown.
There will be a Mass of Remembrance for the repose soul of
Mrs. Maria Edavazhickal on Saturday, February 1, 2003, at 5:00 PM at
Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, 155 Washington Street,
Middletown, Connecticut, with the Very Reverend Thomas J. Derito Smith,
V.F., Pastor, as celebrant and homilist of the Mass of Remembrance.
A reception to greet Sister Marykutty and all the Sisters of Our Lady of the
Garden will follow the Mass of Remembrance in the Parish Hall.

Mrs. Mary J. Adorno
February 26, 1917 – December 19, 2002
Mary J. Adorno, 85, of Spring Street, Portland, Connecticut, and of Stuart,
Florida, wife of the late Michael S. Adorno, died on Thursday, December
19, 2002 at the Portland Health Care Center.
Mary was born on February 26, 1917 in Middletown, the daughter of the late
Salvatore and Lucia (Ribino) Scirpo. She had been a life long resident of
Portland, and was a communicant of Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic
Church, Middletown, Connecticut.
She is survived by her beloved family; a son and daughter-in-law, Salvatore
and Della Adorno of Portland, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lou and
Richard Raicik of Portland; a brother, Salvatore Scirpo of Hacksonville,
Florida; a sister, Ann Pitruzzello, seven grandchildren, Mary Ann Natale of
Portland, Richard Raicik of Middletown, John Raicik of Suwanee Georgia,
Michael Raicik of Middletown, Kathleen Genovese of Middletown, Michael
Adorno of Westbrook; great grandchildren, Dana Natale, Ashley Natale,
Nicole Raicik, Lorenzo Genovese, Giancardo Genovese; and several nieces
and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Coughlin-Lastrina
Funeral Home, 491 High Street, Middletown, followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Sebastian Church, 155 Washington
Street, Middletown with the Reverend Father Christopher J. Zmuda,
Th.Psy.D., as celebrant and homilist of the Funeral Mass.
Burial will be in the family plot in Saint Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield
with Reverend Deacon Nicholas J. Cannata, officiating.

Mrs. Mary Pattavina
November 20, 1912 – January 4, 2003
Mary Pattavina, 90, wife of the Late Sebastian Pattavina of 11 Laurel Drive,
Cromwell, Connecticut, died Saturday, January 4, 2003 at the Haven Health
Care, Cromwell.
She was born on November 20, 1912 in Middletown, Connecticut, daughter
of the Late Carmelo and Gaetina Siena.
Prior to her retirement she was employed by A. N. Piersons. She was a
member of the Italian Society of Middletown. Mary was a member and
communicant of Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, 155 Washington
Street, Middletown, Connecticut.
She is survived by a son, Guy Pattivina, Merdien, Connecticut; a brother,
Russell Siena, West Hartford, Connecticut; a sister, Connie Beeman,
Meriden; 6 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. Mary is predeceased
by a son, Emmanuel Pattivina.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 9:00 AM from the
D’Angelo Funeral, 22 South Main Street, Middletown, Connecticut,
followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Sebastian Church,
Middletown with The Very Reverend Father Thomas J. Derito Smith, V.F.,
Pastor as celebrant and homilist of the Funeral Mass.

Mr. Michael Garofalo
May 22, 1942 – March 14, 2003
Michael Garofalo, 60, Beloved husband of Judy (LaBella) Garofalo, of
133 Round Hill Road, died on Friday, March 14, 2003 at his home.
He was born on May 22, 1942 in Middletown, Connecticut, son of the
Late; Louis and Josephine (Fazzino) Garofalo.
Michael was a member of Saint Sebastian Roman Catholic Church,
Middletown, Connecticut.
Besides his wife he is survived by his two sons; Michael Garofalo of
Middletown, and Louis Garofalo of Rockfall. Two step sons; Gary Fox
of Lebanon and Jamie Fox of Rockfall. Three daughters; Susan
Swaka and Karen VanKriuningen both of Moodus and Kathy Garofalo
of Wallingford. A step daughter; Dana Vick of East Hampton, a
brother; Richard Garofalo of Niantic; 10 Grandchildren and many
nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 9:00 AM
from the D’Angelo Funeral Home, 22 South Main Street, Middletown,
Connecticut, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in
Saint Sebastian Church, 155 Washington Street, Middletown,
Connecticut with the Reverend Father Christopher J. Zmuda,
Th.Psy.D., as celebrant and homilist of the Funeral Mass.

Reverend Monsignor Harry L. Hale
Diocese of Bridgeport
April 2, 1920 – January 15, 2003
Reverend Monsignor Harry L. Hale, 82, formerly Danbury, and West.
Hartford, died Wednesday, January 15, 2003.
Monsignor Hale was born in Hartford, April 2, 1920, a son of the late,
Harry L. and Mary (O'Connor) Hale.
He was a graduate of Saint Augustine Grammer School and Bulkeley
High School in Hartford, and then served four years in the Army Air
Corps in England and France, during World War II.
After his service time he graduated from Georgetown University,
School of Foreign Service, Washington, D.C., before entering the
Theological College of the Catholic University of America in
Washington, D.C.
He was ordained on June 7, 1952, at Saint Matthew Cathedral,
Washington, D.C., by Archbishop Patrick A. O'Boyle.
He served as an Assistant Pastor of Saint Camillus Parish, Silver
Spring, MD, Nativity Parish, Washington, D.C. and was incardinated
as a Priest of the Bridgeport Diocese on August 1, 1959, where he
served at Saint Mary Parish, Stamford, Saint Patrick Parish,
Bridgeport, and as Temporary Administrator of Saint Jerome Parish,
Norwalk, before coming to Saint Joseph Church, Danbury, where he
served as the Pastor, from 1969 to 1995, when he retired on May 5,
1995.
Besides his church assignments, he was named an Honorary Prelate
of His Holiness, Pope John Paul, II, with the title of Monsignor, on
February 15, 1986, and was appointed as a consultor of the Diocese
of Bridgeport in 1969 and a member of the Priests' Council from
1977-1979. After his retirement, Monsignor resided at the Catherine
Dennis Keefe Queen of the Clergy Retired Priests' Residence in
Stamford. He also served as a member of the Governors
Commission on Aging and was the founder and administrator of the
former Heritage House, home for the elderly in Danbury.
Monsignor Hale is survived by his brother, Judge Robert J. Hale, Sr.
and wife, Joy, of Glastonbury; a sister, Marion O'Donnell and
husband, Arthur, of West Hartford; as well as his nieces and
nephews, Attorney Robert J. Hale, Jr., and Loren Hale and husband,
Samuel, Timothy Hale and wife, Nancy, Arthur (Pat) O'Donnell, and
Joseph O'Donnell and wife, Maria; and grand nieces and nephews,
Winston, Daniel, Cheryl and Laura Hale, Sara, Nikki and Nora Sutton,
Jonathan, Casey and Christopher Hale and Christopher and Michelle
O'Donnell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Joseph Church,
Danbury on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
The family will receive friends at Saint Joseph Church, Danbury on
Friday evening, 5-7:30 p.m., where there will be a Mass at 7:30 p.m.
Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of
arrangements.
Contributions in his memory may be made to Connecticut Hospice,
100 Double Beach Rd., Homeport Cove, Branford, CT 06405 or the
Catherine Dennis Keefe Queen of the Clergy Retired Priests'

Mr. Paul A. Cashman
Brother of Mrs. Ann Marino of Saint Sebastian Parish
Paul A. Cashman, 70, of Broad Street., Middletown, husband of the
late Eleanor (Toldo) Cashman, died on Saturday, (October 19, 2002)
at the Middlesex Hospital after a short illness.
Born on January 11, 1932 in Middletown, son of the late William and
Catherine (Hanna) Cashman, he had been a lifelong resident of
Middletown; and a member of Saint John Church, Middletown.
He is survived by two daughters, Kelly Cashman of Farmington,
Paula Cashman of Meriden; a sister and brother-in-law,
Ann and Nello Marino of Middletown; four brothers and
sisters-in-law, Philip and Claire Cashman of Wethersfield, Frank and
Lillian Cashman of East Hartford, Jude and Joanne Cashman of
Bethesda, MD, Shaun and Nancy Cashman of Old Lyme; two
grandsons, Forrest Cashman and Rhys Cashman, both of
Farmington; also several nieces and nephews and friends, who will
miss him greatly. Predeceased by a brother, Gerard "Jerry"
Cashman.
Paul was a member of LIUNA, Local 611, and was in the building
trades for much of his working life. Paul was a former professional
boxer (middleweight division), with over 40 professional fights to his
credit, both in New England and Florida. Paul has dedicated the last
21 years of his life to Alcoholics Anonymous and was responsible for
a continual meeting on the grounds of Connecticut Valley Hospital for
many years.
Paul was a role model to many individuals, helping them to find
sobriety in their lives.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 26, in Saint John
Church, Middletown, at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in the family plot in Saint John Cemetery, Middletown,
at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lebanon
Pines, Lebanon, CT 06249.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Critical Care Unit and the
Hospice Unit at Middlesex Hospital for all of their care and support.
The Coughlin-Lastrina Funeral Home, 491 High St., Middletown, is
in charge of arrangements.
Everyone is cordially invited to a reception that will follow the Funeral
Mass to be held at Saint Sebastian Parish Hall,
Middletown, Connecticut.
