Violet Lutrus
Violet Lutrus, 72, a lifelong resident of Danbury, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999 at New Milford Hospital.

Mrs. Lutrus was the wife of the late Joseph Lutrus. They were married in 1947. She was born in Danbury, Conn., on May 26, 1926, a daughter of Vernon and Mary Gabe Peck.

She helped her parents in their many businesses, which included dairy and sandwich shops. Mrs. Lutrus was employed by the King Neptune Restaurant in Ridgefield for 27 years. She "hung up her apron" and went to work for the State of Connecticut in 1975. She first worked for the Third Circuit Court and then became secretary to the Dean of the Nursing Department at Western Connecticut State University. After retiring from the state in 1988, Mrs. Lutrus assisted her children in opening their restaurant, Capers, in Brookfield, Conn. She moved to Kent, Conn., for three months before becoming ill.

Mrs. Lutrus was a Campfire Girl leader in the 1960s at Roberts Avenue School. An important yearly event for the girls in her troop was the annual Memorial Day Parade. The year the Campfire Girls celebrated their 50th anniversary as a girls club, Mrs. Lutrus and her troop's float won first prize.

She is survived by a son, Alan Lutrus and his wife Joanne; a daughter, Sandra Stokes and her husband Dick; four grandchildren, Leah Stokes, and Bradley, Kyle and Scott Lutrus; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main Street, Danbury.

Services are Wednesday, 6:45 p.m., at the funeral home with the Rev. Clare Ingham officiating.

Mrs. Lutrus' children have planned for a celebration of life picnic on May 30, 1999 at the top of Skiff Mountain in Kent, Conn.

Anthony Lupienski
Mr. Anthony Lupienski, 70, of Williamsburg, died Monday, February 9, 1999, at Williamsburg Community Hospital.

A native of Danbury, Conn., Mr. Lupienski had been a Williamsburg resident for 28 years. He had retired from the U.S. Army and from Cheatham Annex.

He is survived by his wife, Viola M. Lupienski; a son, Gregory D. Lupienski of Williamsburg; two brothers, John Lupienski of Danbury and Stanley Lupienski of Newtown, Conn., and four sisters, Anna Lupienski of Newtown, Helen Lupienski, Ruth Lupienski and Natalie Lupienski, all of Danbury.

Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to District of York Fire and Rescue - Bruton, P.O. Box 1101, Williamsburg, VA 23185.

Blanche Belot
Blanche R. DeLong Belot, age 83, of 7 North Road, Bethel, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Marcel F. Belot.

Mrs. Belot was born in Danbury, April 2, 1915, a daughter of Leroy and Mildred Webb DeLong, and later raised by her stepfather Michael Piccirillo. She was a waitress for many years at the Doughboy Restaurant in Bethel until opening the Bethel Diner. She was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church.

Mrs. Belot is survived by two sons, Robert M. Belot and James R. Belot both of Bethel; a sister, Gladys Koltz of Georgetown, Conn.; four grandchildren, William Belot and Barbara Belot of Danbury, Tammy Belot of Prospect, Conn. and Greg Belot of New Milford, Conn.: three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Belot of New Fairfield, Brittney Belot of Waterbury and Tyler Belot of New Milford.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel Volunteer Fire Dept., South St., Bethel, CT 06801.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Bethel Methodist Church, Saturday at 10 a.m.

There are no calling hours. The Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, is handling arrangements.

Henry Joseph Parzuchowski
Henry Joseph Parzuchowski, 84, a Danbury resident since 1925, died Tuesday at Heritage Heights Care Center.

Mr. Parzuchowski, of Locust Ave., Danbury, was the husband of Helen (Symanowicz) Parzuchowski.

He was born in South Portland, Maine, Sept. 14, 1914, a son of John A. and Rose (Roslan) Parzuchowski.

He attended schools in Southington and Danbury and graduated from the Danbury Trade School on Main Street.

A hatter by trade, he worked at Mallory's and George & Harry MacLaughlin Hat Factories for many years. He owned Danbury Bakery until his retirement in 1979. After his retirement he worked part time as a delivery person for Murray's, Harry Harris and Manny's Auto Parts.

Mr. Parzuchowski was a member of St. Joseph Church. He was a member of Padanaram Hose Company -3 since 1936 and was secretary for 24 years. He was financial secretary of the Polish Club National Alliance for over 40 years. During his youth he played semi-pro baseball as a catcher and was an avid duck pin bowler.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald H. of Danbury and Ronald J. of New Fairfield; four grandchildren, Stephen of Roxbury, Douglas of Warwick, R.I., Brian of Bethel and Deborah Bakoledis of Niantic; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers, Walter, Stanley, Edward, John and Benjamin and a sister, Mary Zelensky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church Saturday at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.

Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

William E. Hildebrandt
The death of William E. Hildebrandt, 80, of 46 Candlewood Shores Road, Brookfield, occurred at his home Wednesday. He was the husband of Catherine T. O'Connell Hildebrandt.

Born in New York City, he was the son of Edward F. and Margaret C. Gribbon Hildebrandt. He received his education in New York City, attended St. Cecilia Grammar School and was a graduate of High School of Commerce. He later attended the Delahanty Institute, a Fire Fighter Training Academy.

He was a veteran of World War 2, served for four years in the Army in Iceland and the campaign in Germany for which he was awarded the Rhineland Battle Ribbon.

He was a firefighter for the City of New York, retiring in 1983 after 42 years of service. He retired from Battalion 20, Engine Co. -61 as a Battalion Chief.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield, its church choir and formerly of its Men's Club. He was a member of "The Notebles" singing group and had performed in St. Joseph's Minstrel and the Brookfield Playhouse. He was a member of the Connecticut Valley Country Club where he scored a Hole-in-One and he was a member of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Gregory W. Hildebrandt of New Milford; a daughter, Karen C. Marcucci of Staten Island, N.Y., five grandchildren, Daniel, Laura Kate, Stephanie, Blaise and Taylor and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, Saturday at 10:15 a.m. to St. Joseph's Church at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, New Milford.

Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Dominic J. Manluccia
Dominic J. Manluccia, 80, of Danbury, died at the Heritage Heights Nursing Home on Wednesday morning.

He was born in Danbury, Oct. 22, 1918, son of Pasquale and Margaret (Falcetano) Manluccia. Mr. Manluccia was a Danbury resident all of his life and was a graduate of Danbury schools. He served with the U.S. Army, in the Philippines during World War II, and was wounded in action. Mr. Manluccia was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He worked in the shipping department of the former Castro Convertible Co. and later worked at the Tennex Company. Following his retirement from Tennex, he worked part time in the security department at the Danbury Hospital.

Mr. Manluccia is survived by two sons, Dominic P. Manluccia of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Charles S. Manluccia of New Milford; a stepson, John Sterry of New Milford; three sisters, Evelyn Howley and Josephine George both of Danbury and Fay Mortara of Bethel, nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two daughters, Gloria Manluccia in 1956 and Maria Lourenco in 1989; a brother Frank Manluccia and three sisters, Marge Webb, "Molly" Howley and Lena Torcaso.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Saturday at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Alice B. Shattuck
Alice B. Shattuck, 94, of 33 Lincoln Avenue, Danbury, mother of Mary Scharf and Carolyn McCallie, both of Danbury, died on Tuesday morning, Feb. 9, 1999 at the Pope John Paul II Center for Healthcare, Danbury.

Mrs. Shattuck was the wife of the late Homer G. Shattuck.

Mrs. Shattuck was born in Wyoming, N.Y., on Oct. 14, 1904, a daughter of the late George and Jenny (Ewell) Herrmann. She attended New York state schools.

A resident of Danbury since 1993, coming from Rye, N.Y., she was a member of the Rye Presbyterian Church of Rye, N.Y.

Her husband and her family were the most special cares of her life.

In addition to her daughters, she is survived by her two sons-in-law, Albert Scharf and Walter McCallie, as well as her grandchildren and their spouses, Cherie Scharf, Diane Pimentel and her husband Richard, Clifford Scharf and his wife Denise, David McCallie and Cindy Hedin and her husband Robert, and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family in the Rye Presbyterian Church, Rye, N.Y.

Interment will follow.

There will be no calling hours.

Margaret L. Meken
Margaret L. Meken, 86, wife of William Meken Sr., of 16 High Street, Danbury, mother of William M. Meken of Bethel, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999 at Danbury Hospital.

Mrs. Meken was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on July 13, 1912, a daughter of Michael and Anna Sciranko Kurjan, and had been a resident of Danbury for most of her life. She and her husband had operated their family business, Meken's Cleaners, of Liberty Street, Danbury, for many years. She had been a member of St. Peter Church.

Besides her husband of 48 years and her son, Mrs. Meken is survived by four sisters-in-law, Elsie Paquette, Anne Meken, Ann Delamater and Irene Roshka; her sister, Lottie Kurjan of Youngstown, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery.

Friends will be received at The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main Street, Danbury on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions to the Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 30 West St., Danbury or to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492 will be appreciated.

Alice M. Bateman
Alice M. Bateman, 90, formerly of Driftway Road, Danbury, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999 at Mediplex of Danbury following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Bateman and had been a lifelong Danbury resident.

Mrs. Bateman was born in Danbury on Nov. 10, 1908, a daughter of George W. and Jennie Lewis Bateman. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church. She had taken great pride in her home, and she was an excellent needleworker.

She is survived by her two nephews, George Baxter of New Milford and William Baxter of Florida; her nieces, Marion Mannion of Brookfield and Barbara Goldstein of Arizona; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, George and Charles Baxter, and a sister, Mildred Baxter Ahle.

A funeral will be held on Friday, 8 p.m., at The Tomlinson Homestead, 336 Main St., Danbury.

Friends will be received on Friday after 6 p.m. at The Homestead.

Francis Richard Flannery
Francis Richard Flannery, 43, of 197 Pearl St. in Seymour, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999 at The Griffin Hospital. He was the husband of Therese Farley Flannery.

Born in New Haven on Sept. 7, 1955, he was the son of Francis R. Flannery of Lanesville, N.Y. and the late Barbara Monroe Flannery. He was employed as a school psychologist at the Consolidated School in New Fairfield. A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Trumbull, he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in English literature from the University of Connecticut and his psychology degrees from Fairfield University and Southern Connecticut State College. He was the owner of Flannery Painting and counseled for special education. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors, besides his wife and father, are one daughter, 19-month-old Colin; one son, 4-month-old Lian; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Seven of Seymour; two brothers, Edward M. Flannery of Old Saybrook and Brian M. Flannery of Lanesville, N.Y.; and two sisters, Kelli Flannery of Seymour and Ann Margaret Lawson of Shelton.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the John T. Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff St., Ansonia to a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at 10 a.m. in The Church of the Assumption in Ansonia.

Calling hours will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Flannery Children Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home or First Union Bank, 11 Klarides Village, Seymour, CT 06483.

Michael J. Hibert
Michael J. Hibert, 36, of Medford, Oregon, died unexpectedly at his home Feb. 10, 1999.

Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of Thomas and Ann Hibert of Danbury. He was a resident of Oregan for the past 16 years.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandmother, Gertrude Hibert of Danbury; his brothers, Thomas Hibert of Florida, and Kevin Hibert of Danbury; his sisters, Donna Lockwood of New Milford, Colleen Hibert of Massachusetts, and Kelly Davidkowski and Denise Weber, both of Danbury; as well as 13 nieces and nephews,

Private services were conducted in Oregon.

Molly Friedman
Molly Friedman, age 85 of Fairfield, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999. at the Jewish Home for the Elderly.

Mrs. Friedman was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Aaron and Sarah (Adelman) Papish, and was a Fairfield area resident for the past 19 years. She was a member of Congregation Ahavath Achim and the Sisterhood of Ahavath Achim, and was a volunteer at the Jewish Home.

Mrs. Friedman was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Friedman, in 1990, and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ezra and Anne Friedman of New Milford, Conn.; her daughter and son in law, Deborah and David Zieff of Fairfield; her sister, Rose Siegel of Eastchester, N.Y.; and her grandchildren, Karen and Gary Eager, Sarah Zieff, Jessica and Rebecca Friedman.

Services will take place Sunday at 11 a.m. from the Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, with interment following at Ahavath Achim Cemetery on Reid Street.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Home for the Elderly, or to Congregation Beth El in Fairfield.

Louise Morgan
Louise Morgan, 96, of Elm St., New Milford, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999 at New Milford Hospital. Born in Stowe, Vt., she lived in Mansfield, Ohio, before moving to New Milford in 1984.

A graduate of the University of Vermont, she received her master's from Columbia University. Miss Morgan was a dietitian at the Mansfield General Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio, for over 20 years, retiring in 1969.

Surviving are two nieces, Lucille Rackliffe of Bristol and Rebecca Eshia of Plainville.

Funeral services are today (Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999) at 1 p.m. at Carlson Funeral Home, 45 Franklin Square, New Britain.

Donations may be made to Lions Club Eye Research, c/o New Britain Lions Club, PO Box 1933, New Britain, CT 06050.

William F.Managan Jr.
William F. Managan Jr., age 79, of 1 Kingsbury Road, New Fairfield, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of Jane L. (Covill) Managan.

Born in Maybrook, N.Y., Oct. 1, 1919, he was a son of William Sr. and Hazel (Greene) Managan. He graduated from Brewster High School.

Mr. Managan served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a machinist for the former Gilbert & Bennett Co. of Georgetown, retiring in 1984 after 38 years of service. He had a great love for music and dancing as well as being an avid woodworker. He was known for fine furniture and detailed birdhouses.

Mr. Managan was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Besides his wife of 35 years, he is survived by his sons, William D. Managan of Woodbury and Keith and Dennis Managan; his sisters, Althea Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz., and Millie Rita Winters of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; his stepchildren Kathleen Wade of Newtown, Robert Corbett of Bethel, Jay and Amelia Corbett of Virginia Beach, Va., Ronald and Jaya Corbett of New Milford and Thomas and Suzann Corbett of Brookfield; 18 grandchildren; 1 great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Monday at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery, New Fairfield.

Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Northville Baptist Church, Youth Ministry Fund, 9 Little Bear Hill Road, New Milford, CT 06776.

Martin Kochanov Sr.
Martin Kochanov Sr. 79 of Trafford, Pa., died February 10, 1999, in the Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville, Pa. He was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Pittsburgh, the son of Mark and Mary Wasilko Kochanov. He was a member of St. Regis Church.

A retired employee of the Westinghouse Electric Co. in East Pittsburgh, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post 331 of Trafford and the former VFW Post 4269 of Trafford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Robert and brother John Kochanov. He is survived by his wife Mary Arendas Kochanov; four sons, Martin Jr. of Danbury, Conn.; Mark of Level Green, Pa.; William of Harrisburg, Pa.; and Thomas of North Huntingdon, Pa.; one daughter, Sandra McFall of Penn Hills, Pa.;. one brother, Paul Kochanov of Harrison City, Pa.; three sisters, Helen Scala, of Ellwood City, Pa., Olga Broadway, of Tarzana, Calif., and Ann Woleslagle, of Trafford; and eight grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by the John M. Dobrinick Funeral Home, 429 Duquesne Ave., Trafford, Pa. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated today (Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999) at 10 a.m. in the St. Regis Church with Fr. Henry P. Dinico as celebrant. The interment will follow in the Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon, Pa.

Madeline E. Moore
The death of Madeline E. Moore, 89, of Hickory Hill Road, Brookfield, occurred at the Glen Hill Convalescent Center Saturday. She was the wife of the late Gerard J. Moore.

Born in New York City, August 5, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Madeline Stohr Ketterer. She attended New York Schools and Business School. She lived later in Bronx, N.Y. moving to Brookfield 20 years ago.

She had been employed as an Executive Secretary for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and for various New York City Hospitals for 40 years retiring at age 65.

She was a member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church.

She is survived by 1 brother, Stephen Ketterer of Dallas, Tex., 3 nieces, Carol Stringer of New York City, Doris Von Glahn of Plano, Tex. and Karen Henn of Holtsville, L.I., N.Y., a nephew, Stephen Ketterer of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Funeral services will be held from the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, Tuesday morning at 9:15 to St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church at 10:00 for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.

Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home Monday evening from 7 to 9:00.

Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, 138 Candlewood Lake Road, Brookfield, 06804.
