May K. Sabin

May Emma Marie Kuehner Sabin, 88, of Oriskany, N.Y., died Thursday at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Edward O. Sabin.

Mrs. Sabin was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., on Feb. 14, 1910, a daughter of Jacob and Augusta Hartner Willi. She was raised in Mt. Vernon and graduated from the then Mt. Vernon High School. She married Rudolph H. Kuehner of Mt. Vernon. After his death in 1941, she continued to live in Mt. Vernon and raise their two sons. Mrs. Sabin was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Minnehaha Chapter, of Mt. Vernon-New Rochelle, since 1939 holding many offices including District Deputy of the 2nd Westchester District.

In 1953, Mrs. Sabi married Edward Sabin,and they moved to Pittsfield, Mass. Mrs. Sabin worked as a secretary for Temple Ansche Amunim for almost 30 years. While in Pittsfield, she was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist and continued her membership in the O.E.S. in New York. She retired to Dunedin, Fla., until illness overtook her and she moved to Pounder Hall in Oriskany. Mrs. Sabin's loving generosity touched many people as shown by the hundreds of well wishes she received from all over the country.

Mrs. Sabin is survived by a son, Richard R. Kuehner of Florida; a sister, Charlotte and her husband, Victor Thomas, of Bethel; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Robert R. Kuehner.

Memorials may be made to Pounder Hall, O.E.S., 1400 Utica St., Oriskany, NY 13424.

There are no calling hours. Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation is at Connecticut Crematory, Stamford, CT.

Hull Funeral Service, 60 Division St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Louise Watterworth

Louise Watterworth, 48, of 5 Labu Lane, New Milford, died Wednesday at her home. She was born in New Milford, July 6, 1950, a daughter of Pauline Kinney Watterworh of New Milford and the late John Watterworth.

She attended New Milford schools.

She is survived by her loving family, her mother; a son, Donald Watterworth of Danbury; a sister, Melanie Koenig and her husband William Koenig; a niece who she adored Krystal Koenig; and many dear friends.

Funeral services in St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Center Cemetery New Milford. Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.

George P. Mello Sr.

George P. Mello Sr., 83, of Brooksville, Fla., died June 29, 1999 in Brooksville, formerly of Danbury and New Fairfield, CT.

Mr. Mello was born in Danbury, CT, May 14, 1916, son of Cosimo Mello and Mary (LeRose) Mello.

He retired from the Barden Corp. in 1983.

Mr. Mello is survived by his daughter, Mariann Dwyer of New Fairfield and sister Emily Mello of Danbury; 3 granddaughters; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Rose Carino; a brother, Frank Mello; and his son, George Mello.

Private services to be held in Florida at the convenience of the family.

William Rajcok

William "Willy" Rajcok, a 40 year resident of Redondo Beach, CA, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 1999. Born in CT, Willy was 64 when he died. He is survived by daughters, Dawn (Ken) TenEyck and Deborah Rajcok, both of Lomita, CA, sons, John Rajcok of San Obispo, CA and Robert Rajcok of Torrance, CA, Grandson, John "J.D." Reynolds of Lomita and granddaughters; Crystal Rajcok of IL and Jennifer Reynolds of Lomita; brothers, Donald Rajcok and John Rajcok, both of CT and Robert Rajcok of Torrance, CA. Funeral Services will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 3, 1999 at the Pacific Crest Cemetery Chapel in Redondo Beach, CA. White & Day Mortuary in Redondo Beach, CA directing.

Dr. Martin C. Steele

Dr. Martin C. Steele of Wyncote, Pennsylvania, beloved husband, loving father and grandfather died at the age of 79 on Sunday, June 27, 1999.

Dr. Steele was an internationally renowned physicist and a pioneer in the field of low temperature superconductivity, and a Fellow in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He was born in New York City on December 25, 1919. After serving in the United States Army in the Philippines during World War II, he joined the Naval Research Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Maryland in 1952. In 1955, he joined the RCA Research Laboratory in Princeton, New Jersey, and in 1960 was named as the Founding Director of RCA Research Laboratories, Tokyo, Japan. In 1972, Dr. Steele joined General Motors where he developed static plasma digital technology for automobile instrumentation. He retired from GM in 1985.

Dr. Steele is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marian Steele of Wyncote, Pennsylvania; his daughter and her spouse, Dr. Sheldon and Linda Rubenfeld of Houston, Texas; and three sons and their spouses, Michael and Christine Steel of Danbury, Connecticut; Jeremy and Telfair Steele of Princeton, New Jersey; and Jonathan and Pamela Steele of Ellicott City, Maryland; and nine grandchildren, including Jennifer Steele of Danbury and Jocelyn Steele of Ridgefield.

Burial was at the Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ on June 28, 1999. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dr. Steele's name to a charity of the donor's choice.

Stella S. Finn

Stella S. Finn, 98, formerly of 51 Port Watson St., Cortland, NY, died Tues., June 29, 1999 at Cortland Care Center. She was born June 8, 1901 in Danbury, CT, the daughter of Emil and Josephine Krems Faust and had been a resident of Cortland for many years. Mrs. Finn was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Cortland, a member of the Cortland Sr. Citizens, the Four Score Club and the A.A.R.P. In Danbury, CT, she was a member of the Elizabeth Lodge No. 7, and had worked for the F.H. Lee & Mallory Hat shop.

She is survived by her husband of 40 yrs.: Floyd E. Finn of Cortland; her son, Edward V. (Barbara) Streaman of Clarence; her brother, Edmund (Eileen) Einsman of Ft. Myers, FL; 4 granddaughters, Patricia (James) Hughes of Clarence, Christine (James) Berry of Ypsilanti, MI, Cynthia (David) Kline of Williamsville and Teresa (Freddie) Pabon of Michigan City, IN; 8 great-grandchildren; her stepdaughter, Irene Foote of Cortland; her stepson, Richard (Lee) Finn of Cortland; 11 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Arthur H. Streaman in 1942.

A prayer service will be held at 8:30 a.m., Fri., July 2, 1999 at the Wright-Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland followed at 9:00 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Cortland with the Rev. John P. Fenlon officiating. Interment will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Cemetery, Danbury, CT Friends may call Thursday, from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Finn's memory may be directed to: St. Mary's Church, 44 N. Main St., Cortland, NY 13045.

Kevin M. Lynch

Kevin M. Lynch of Phoenix, a Director at the Arizona Attorney General's Office, died June 18, 1999. He was born in Danbury on July 17, 1936. He was a loving husband to his wife, Frances (Konya); adored father to his daughter, Barbara Nelson (husband David Nelson); and son, Kevin (wife Amy). He was also the beloved grandfather of Andrew, Michaela, Emma, Kevin and Kimberly. He was predeceased by a brother, John, of Brookfield. His other survivors include two sisters, Geraldine Lynch of Brookfield and Ethna Sullivan of Danbury, a brother James of Danbury and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held June 23, 1999 in Phoenix.

Helen A. Hansen

Helen A. Hansen, 79, of Ridgeway Terrace, Ridgefield, wife of Henry P. Hansen, died on Friday, July 2, 1999, at the Norwalk Hospital.

Mrs. Hansen was born in Stamford, Connecticut, November 23, 1919, a daughter of the late Peter P. and Senta (Heidorn) Meyer. She attended Stamford schools.

A resident of Ridgefield since 1956 coming from Stamford, she was the secretary of the former Ridge Riders Motorcycle Club of Stamford, a former assistant Girl Scout Leader in the Town of Ridgefield and a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church of Ridgefield.

Mrs. Hansen enjoyed sewing, knitting and quilting. She will be most remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother as well as a wonderful relative, neighbor and good friend.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, she is survived by two daughters, Janet H. Martinet of Manassas, VA and Joyce Molina of El Paso, TX, a sister, Ann Meyer and two brothers Lou Meyer and Peter Meyer all of Stamford as well as four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield.

Friends will be received in the Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Margaret Faust

Margaret Chambers Faust, 64, of 6 Tallow Lane, New Milford, wife of Howard Faust, died Saturday at Hartford Hospital.

Mrs. Faust was born in Norwalk, Sept. 20, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Catherine Smith Chambers. She was a graduate of Norwalk High School and had moved to New Milford in 1969 from Norwalk.

She had been employed before her retirement as a certified nursing assistant at the New Milford Nursing Home.

She was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Ronald D. Frost, of New Milford; a sister, Kathryn Foster of Middletown Springs, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services on Wednesday 9:30 a.m. in St. Frances Xavier Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Morningside Cemetery, Gaylordsville.

Friends may call at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St. New Milford on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Claude C. Orten

Claude C. Orten, age 63, husband of Shelby (King) Orten of 201 Riverside Rd., Sandy Hook, CT died Saturday July 3, 1999 in the Danbury Hospital.

Born in Johnson City, Tenn. Jan. 16, 1936 son of the late Alvin & Lula (Fletcher) Orten. Resident of Sandy Hook 43 years. Last employed as a custodian at Regional 14, School District, Woodbury, CT. Member of the Bible Baptist Church, Newtown.

Survived besides his wife by 2 daughters Shelby Papp of Waterbury CT & Sheila Nolder of Danbury CT. 3 brothers, Blain Orten & Henry Orten both of Johnson City, Tenn., Thomas Orten of KY, 3 sisters, Mary Hamitt of Newtown CT, Bonnie Bishop of Johnson City, TN, & Georgia Hall of Waterbury, CT. 2 grandchildren, Angela & Jessica Papp. 2 great-grandchildren. Several nieces & nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home, 800 E. Watooga Ave., Johnson City, TN on Thursday at a time to be announced. Burial Montavista Burial Park, Johnson City, TN. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bible Baptist Church, Newtown at a later date. Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown Monday July 5, 1999, 7 to 9:00pm.

Anne K. Anderson

Anne K. Anderson, age 78, wife of Tore N. Anderson of 49 High Ridge Rd., Brookfield, died Saturday July 3, 1999, unexpectedly, in the Danbury Hospital.

She was born in New York City April 20, 1921, daughter of the late Joseph & Sophie (Zaprotsky) Keda. She was a graduate and valedictorian of her Class of 1939 Huntington High School, Huntington, LI.

A resident of Brookfield for 33 years, she was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Newtown, CT. She also was church secretary for the past 30 years.

She is survived, besides her husband, by 1 son Kenneth Anderson of Arlington, MA; 3 daughters, Joyce Anderson of London, England, Karen Anderson of Norwalk, CT, and Lois Welz of NYC; 1 brother, Michael Keda of Huntington, LI, NY; 3 sisters, Alice Miller, Helen Kozlowski and Marie Johannssen all of Greenlawn, NY; also 2 grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church Thursday July 8, 1999 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Gregory Wismar, officiating. Cremation: Mountain Crematory.

Freinds may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Beatrice K. Georgi

The death of Beatrice K. Georgi, 37, of 67 West Wooster St., Danbury, occurred at the Danbury Hospital Saturday. She was the wife of Edwin Georgi. She was born in Bronxville, N.Y., daughter of Cyril J. Dennerlein Jr. and Josephine Kriescher Dennerlein. She lived in Brookfield since the age of 2 and attended Brookfield schools. She had lived in Danbury just a short period of time.

She had served in the Navy for a period of 6 months.

She was a member of St. Joseph's Church Brookfield, the Responsive Services Program of the Danbury Hospital and of Mental Health Services.

Besides her husband and her parents of Brookfield she is survived by 2 sons, Edwin A. Georgi and Joshua J. Georgi both of Danbury, 3 daughters, Carolyn A. Georgi, Rachel M. Dennerlein and Sarah J. Stone, all of Brookfield, 2 sisters, Kristine M. Dennerlein of Brookfield and Alyson Dennerlein of Bethel, also several aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Brookfield, Wednesday morning at 11:00.

Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

Friends may call at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Rd., Brookfield, Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:30.

Julie M. Weeks

Julie M. Weeks, age 83, widow of the late Raymond A. Weeks, died in Danbury on July 5, 1999.

Born on May 28, 1916, she was a lifelong resident of Norwalk. She was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Uszuko) Miklo, and was also predeceased by her sisters, Mary Schilcher and Elizabeth Miklo.

Mrs. Weeks is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Michael (Patricia) Lawrence of Danbury, and Ms. Christine Sebold of Bethel, two granddaughters, Mrs. Anthony (Susan) Persichilli of Danbury, and Mrs. Robert (Karen) Daley of New Milford, and two great-grandchildren, Brandon and Jennifer Persichilli of Danbury, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Weeks had been an active member of the St. Philip's Womens Society, and held officer positions with the Fairfield County Retired Persons and the local AARP. She was known for her sense of humor and her volunteering.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday at St. Philip's Church, 1 Fr. Conlon Place, Norwalk. Internment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Avenue, Norwalk.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Western Connecticut at 30 West Street, Danbury, CT 06810, to St. Philip's Church, or to a favorite charity.

Ida Mae Perdrizet

Ida Mae Perdrizet, 74, of 100 Grassy Plain St., Bethel, died at her residence on Monday morning.

She was born in Danbury, July 3, 1925, daughter of the late George & Etta (Gallagher) Perdrizet. She was a graduate of Bethel High school and from Arnold College. She had been an outstanding athlete and had taught physical education in the Enfield School system. She later became a guidance counselor, prior to her retirement, approximately 20 years ago.

Miss Perdrizet is survived by a brother, Robert J. Perdrizet of Boca Raton, FL; 2 sisters, Julia Ehrhard and Joan Clarkson, both of Bethel and several nieces & nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Church, Bethel, on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Wednesday from 9 to 9:30 a.m.
