Nancy Lee Gore

Nancy Lee Gore, 46, of Clearwater, Fla. died Sunday, May 9, 1999 at home.

She was born in Stamford, Conn. and moved to Florida in 1990 from Danbury, Conn. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 23 years, David J. Gore; two sons, David J. Gore Jr. of Clearwater, Fla. and Dean Tahausky of Tennessee; a daughter, Marly Ann Gore of Clearwater; her father, William Bongavene of West Rupert, Vt.; a brother, William Cahill of Gales Ferry, Conn.; two sisters, Diane Eppoliti of Ridgefield, Conn. and Cathy Flanagan of Shushan, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

North American Cremation Society, Deerfield Beach, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.

Michael W. Nott Sr.

Michael Walter Nott Sr., 63, of 9 Old Stone Road, Gaylordsville, New Milford, husband of Dorothy (Ammerman) Nott, died Monday, June 28, 1999 at his home.

Mr. Nott was born in Milton Mowbury, England on July 12, 1936, a son of the late Walter and Olive (Hack) Nott. He had lived in New Milford for the past 38 years. He had been employed as a staff assistant at the Kimberly-Clark Corporation in New Milford, where he worked for 37 years, retiring in 1996.

In Gaylordsville, Mr. Nott was a member of the board of trustees for the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church, a member of the Gaylordsville Historical Society and secretary-treasurer of the Morningside Cemetery. He was also a member of the Connecticut Yankee Antique Machinery Association in Kent.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Terry A. Nott of Sherman, Kimberley J. Morea of New Milford, Barbara J. Nott-Wooley of New Milford and Penny S. Russell of Cranbury, N.J.; two brothers, Thomas Minns of Simcoe, Ontario, Canada and John Nott of Loughton, Essex, England; and nine grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Michael W. Nott Jr.

Funeral services are on Thursday, 1 p.m., at the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Hibbard officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery in Gaylordsville.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.

Contributions in Mr. Nott's memory may be made to the Book of Remembrance at the Gaylordsville United Methodist Church, Gaylordsville, CT 06755.

Marie D. Chirgwin

Marie D. (Gill) (Russell) Chirgwin, 73, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 1999 at her home in Jamesburg, N.J. from complications of congestive heart failure.

Mrs. Chirgwin was born on August 14, 1925 in Bridgeport, Conn. to Frederick Gill Sr. and Marie (Rainford) Gill. She attended school and worked in Bridgeport. At age 15 she won the national roller skating championship.

In 1946 she married Thomas G. Russell Sr. They divorced in 1972 and in 1979 she married Lester D. Chirgwin Jr. A longtime resident of Bethel, Conn. she also lived in Stamford, Conn., Vermont and Florida. She was an accomplished needleworker and spent many hours making beautiful quilts for her family and friends.

Mrs. Chirgwin is survived by her husband, Lester D. Chirgwin Jr.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Jr. and Karen Russell of New Milford, Conn.; Dean and Penny Russell of Cranbury, N.J. and Todd and Melissa Russell of Danbury, Conn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Russell) and Howard T. Barrett of Starksboro, Vt.; her brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Dorothy Gill of Brookfield; and sister-in-law Ruth Gill of Fairfield, Conn.

She is also survived by her grandchildren and a great-grandchild, Thomas Russell III of New Milford, Terence Barrett and his fiancee Tara Perkins of Burlington, Vt., Melissa Barrett and her friend Joshua Bell of Washington, D.C., Ryan Barrett of Burlington, Vt., Andrew Barrett of Starksboro, Vt., Michael and Britney Russell of Cranbury, N.J., Daniel, Steven and Emily Russell of Danbury, Conn.; and Nicholas Russell of Danbury.

Mrs. Chirgwin is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews; best friend Noreen Fry and family of Bethel; and stepdaughters Katharine Schwind and family of Bellevue, Wash., Marguarite Howard and family of Fairhaven, Mass. and Melody Finn and family of Arboles, Colo.

Mrs. Chirgwin was predeceased by her mother, father and stepmother Jessie Gill, and by brothers Harry Gill and Frederick Gill Jr.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Minette Lee and Madina Rahman for their capable and tender, loving care given to Mom and the family in Mom's last weeks. Thank you also to the nurses and staff of Princeton Hospice, who made it possible for us to care for Mom at home.

Dearest Mom and Gramma, we all love you and will miss you.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Ave., Bethel, Conn.

Funeral services will begin on Friday, 9:30 a.m. from the Bethel Funeral Home to the Church of St. Mary in Bethel for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Bethel.

Donations in Mrs. Chirgwin's memory may be made to the Salvation Army or Princeton Hospice, 208 Bunn Drive, Princeton, NJ 08540.

James R. Freeman

James R. Freeman, 54, of 5 Nabby Road in Danbury died at the Danbury Hospital on June 14, 1999.

A Danbury resident for the past few years, Mr. Freeman had worked as a carpenter and had also worked in jewelry sales.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, 2 p.m., at the veteran's section of Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.

There will be no calling hours.

Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Jennie Silvestro

Jennie Silvestro, age 84, of Newtown, CT, and Highland Beach, FL, passed away on Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Danbury Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Ralph Silvestro, Sr., for 53 years.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of the late Peter and Sarah DeLibro.

Before moving to Newtown, she was a 40-year resident of Southport. She and Ralph retired in the 1980s from The Westport Food Centre, a family business which they ran with Ralph's brothers, Joseph and Albert.

Mrs. Silvestro was a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Senior Citizens and was currently a member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Ralph Silvestro, Jr., and his wife Serrie of Fairfield; a daughter, Carol Najpauer and her husband Jim of Shelton; three sisters, Mary Moccia and Frances Greco of Del Ray Beach, FL, and Rose Mallia of Ridgefield Park, NJ. She was also the proud and loving grandmother of Steven and Laura Silvestro and Michael Najpauer. She was predeceased by a brother, Anthony DeLibro.

Funeral services will take place Thursday at 9:20 a.m. from the Shaughnessy Funeral Home, 50 Reef Road, Fairfield, to St. Thomas Aquinas Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.

Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Lois Milligan Cugene

Lois Milligan Cugene, 64, of Mariner Drive, Tarpon Springs, FL, and formerly of Ridgefield, died Friday at Glen Hill in Danbury. She was the wife of the late Nicholas Cugene.

She is survived by two sons, Ted Lionetti of Bethel and Mark Lionetti of Ridgefield; two daughters, Debra Brier of Middlebury and Laurie Tomsett of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, George Milligan of Danbury and Michael Stashenko of Redding; two sisters, Marion Bates of Port Chester, NY, and Joan Norman of Florida; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Ridgefield. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

The Kane Funeral Home, 41 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Driscoll Warner

Mrs. Ruth Driscoll Warner, 77, ofEustis, Fla., formerly of Westport, Conn. and wife of the late Stanley Warner, died on Sunday, September 26, 1999 in Florida.

Mrs. Warner was born in Westport, Conn., daughter of the late Daniel and Helen Boland Driscoll, and had resided in Westport for 43 years prior to moving to Florida four years ago. She is a former employee of Hartmans Hardware Store, Gristede's Market and AVI Publishing Co. Mrs. Warner was also a former member of the Folks Back Home Program during the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Survivors include two sons, William T. Warner of Bethel, Conn. and James L. Warner of Roswell, Ga.; three brothers, Daniel B. Driscoll of West Yarmouth, Mass., Robert J. Driscoll of Westport, Conn. and Edward T. Driscoll of Novato, Calif.; four grandchildren, Carissa Warner and Jeanne Andrews, both of Alpharetta, Ga., Sean Warner of York, Pa. and Ronald Warner of Danbury, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may attend the funeral on Friday, 9:30 a.m., from the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road E., Westport, Conn. to Assumption Church, 98 Riverside Ave. in Westport for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery in Greens Farms.

Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Mid-Fairfield County Chapter, 36 Church Lane, Westport, CT 06880.

James V. Aurelia Jr.

James V. Aurelia Jr., 66, of Second Park Street in Milford, Conn., beloved husband of Phyllis Barletta Aurelia, died on Monday, September 27, 1999 at The Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven after a brief illness.

Mr. Aurelia was born in Stratford, Conn. on May 25, 1933, son of the late James V. Aurelia Sr. and Alice Tuz Aurelia. He was a resident of Milford for 25 years before moving to Bethel, Conn., and had recently moved back to Milford.

Mr. Aurelia was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Seabees. He was a heavy equipment operator and owner of the former Green Acres Landscaping and Excavation of Milford for 20 years until retiring in 1985.

He was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Aurelia is survived by two sons, James V. Aurelia III and his wife Lynn of Milford, Conn. and Charles P. Aurelia and his wife Susan of Old Town, Maine; two daughters, Julie C. Marczyszak and her husband Edward of Seymour, Conn. and Joyce L. Scott of Milford, Conn.; a brother, John Aurelia of Newtown, Conn.; and four grandchildren, Jessica Marczyszak, Ruth Aurelia, Angelina Scott and Robert Shea. He was predeceased by a sister, Marilyn Benham.

Services will take place on Friday, 9 a.m., in the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street on the Green, Milford, Conn. Interment with military honors will be in King's Highway Cemetery, Milford.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home.

Margaret C. Snidero

Margaret C. Snidero died on September 28, 1999 at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York City following a lengthy illness.

She was the daughter of the late John and Santa (Gobbo) Snidero, and graduated from Brewster High School in Brewster, N.Y., St. Vincent's School of Nursing and Fordham University.

She was a nurse in the U.S. Army, serving 27 months in the United States and the European Theater of Operations during World War II. In England, France and Germany she was assigned to the 121st General Hospital.

Attaining the rank of captain, she was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal-Germany.

Following her service career, she was a nurse and sales executive with the Wm. Carter Co.

Survivors include sisters Edna Snidero of New York City, Sara Meyer of Danbury, Conn., Mary Baske of New Fairfield, Conn., Ann Leiss of Danbury, Conn. and Theresa Valden of Sealy, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing hours are on Saturday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Walter B. Cooke-Kennedy Funeral Home, 117 West 72nd St., New York, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 152 West 71st St., New York, N.Y.

Burial will take place at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster, N.Y.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Rita's Home, 880 Greenlawn Ave., Columbus, OH 42223 c/o Sr. Angelo Mary.

Treadwell M. Lewis II

Treadwell M. Lewis II, a 30-year resident of Bethel, Conn., passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 26, 1999. He was the husband of Anne M. (Hubbs) Lewis.

Mr. Lewis was born in Oyster Bay, N.Y., a son of the late Treadwell M. Lewis Sr. and Elizabeth (Lambertson) Lewis. He was a seasonal buyer for Caldor Department Stores until 1983, when he started a new career as a self-employed salesman. He retired in 1991. He was chairman of the Bethel Zoning Board of Appeals and served on the board for over 20 years.

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion, past member and president of the Bethel Lions Club, member of the Bethel Chamber of Commerce and a past chairman of the Apple Blossom Festival.

Mr. Lewis volunteered for the Greater Danbury Irish Festival for the past five years and volunteered at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury.

Tread loved people and always had a kind word for everyone. He will be truly missed by the community, friends and family.

Besides his loving wife of 43 years, he is survived by two sons, Townsend Lewis of Bethel, Conn. and the Rev. Treadwell Lewis and his wife, the Rev. Carole Lewis, of Shelton, Conn.; two grandchildren, Charissa and Treadwell; his brothers-in-law, Art and Hank; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, 9:30 a.m., from the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel to the Church of St. Mary, Bethel, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Bethel.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bethel Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Ancient Order of Hibernians/Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians Building Fund, P.O. Box 551, Bethel, CT 06801.
