June E. Kilgour
June E. Kilgour, age 69, of Bethel, died on Thursday evening at the Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late David Kilgour Sr. Mrs. Kilgour was born in New York, New York, June 22, 1930, a daughter of the late Richard P. and Helen E. (Babinecz) Roman. She was raised in the Mount Vernon and Yonkers areas, attending schools there, later moving to Bedford Hills, NY, where she and her husband raised their family. Mrs. Kilgour and her husband then moved to Sarasota, FL, where they resided for 25 years, at which time they operated their business, Ellenton Antiques. Upon her husband's death in 1992, Mrs. Kilgour moved to the San Diego, CA, area, where she resided until moving to Bethel one year ago. Mrs. Kilgour is survived by two sons, David Kilgour of Parrish, FL, and Matthew R. Kilgour of Middleburg, FL; one daughter, Laura Kilgour-Beninson of Bethel; one brother, Dick Roman of San Francisco, CA; one sister, Ruth Beeson, of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9th, at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings on the Hudson, New York, at 10:00 a.m., with the Rev. Sheldon Smith of the First Congregational Church of Bethel, officiating. There are no calling hours. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, P.O. Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492-7522, or to the American Cancer Society, 40 North St., Danbury, CT. The Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, is in charge of arrangements.

John L. Barbar
John L. Barbar, age 70, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of 46 years of Nassa Gramesty Barbar, passed away Friday Oct. 8, 1999 in St. Vincent's Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Bridgeport, he was a lifelong resident. A graduate of Bryant College, he received a degree in accounting and held his practice for more than 40 years until his illness. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. He was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched. Survivors, in addition to his devoted wife, Nassa, include four loving children, John L. Barbar and Donna Barbar-Halpin, both of Bridgeport; Carol Barbar Testani and her husband Anthony of Seymour; and David Barbar and his wife Tina of Trumbull; seven grandchildren whom he cherished, John E. Halpin III; Christie, Michael and Brittany Testani; Bethany, David and Joseph Barbar; two brothers, Sam and Michael Barbar of Bridgeport; one sister, Mary B. Janczewski and her husband Stanley of Huntington; several nieces and nephews and cousins. Mr. Barbar was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Helen Barbar, and brother Abraham Barbar. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Archpriest Matthew George officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport (on the Trumbull line). Burial Rite will take place Sunday evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Church in memory of John.

Steven G. Mattiello Jr.
Steven G. Mattiello Jr., 44, of Danbury, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999, at Danbury Hospital. He was the beloved son of Kathleen and Steven G. Mattiello Sr. of Satellite Beach, Florida. Born in Norwalk, Jan. 14, 1955, he was a graduate of Brien McMahon High School, Norwalk. Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Candy Agliotta and her husband Carmine; Stephanie Levy and her husband Alan; and Kathy Doherty and her husband Dennis; as well as several nieces and nephews. A gathering of friends will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to AIDS Project Greater Danbury, P.O. Box 91, Bethel, CT 06801.

Sandra (Marasco) Fisher

Sandra (Marasco) Fisher, of 26 Fairfield Ridge, Danbury, died on October 6, 1999 at the Glen Hill Health Care Center. She was 57.

Born in Danbury October 4, 1942, she was a daughter of Anna (Yurik) Marasco of Danbury and the late George Marasco.

A graduate of Danbury High School, she was employed as an Inspector for Barden Corp., retiring after numerous years of service.

Besides her mother, she is survived by a son, Jeffrey S. Fisher of Weston, Fla.; a half-brother, George Marasco of Danbury; a stepmother, Margaret Marasco of Bethel; two aunts, Mrs. William McIlrath of New Milford and Alice Pazsak of Bridgeport.

Graveside Services will be held at St. Peter Cemetery, Section 23, Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Marie M. Michonski

Marie (Mattick) Michonski, 78, formerly of Pocono Lane, Danbury, wife of the late John E. Michonski, died at Hancock Hall on Thursday morning.

She was born in Berlin, Germany, June 14, 1921. She came to the USA as a young woman and had lived in Queens, New York prior to moving to Danbury in 1968. She was a retired auto registration clerk at Colonial Ford in Danbury. She retired in 1995. Mrs. Michonski and her late husband John, who died in 1980, had raised English bull dogs.

She is survived by two nieces, Stephanie Brucker of Bristol and Helen Murphy of Burlington; a nephew, Robert Zinky of West Hartford and several great nieces and nephews, including Madeline Marzullo of Brookfield and a beloved neighbor and friend, Virginia Stanley of Danbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church, Danbury, on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Peter Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 78 Eastern Blvd., Glastonbury, CT 06033. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.

Desiree E. Butkowsky

Desiree E. Butkowsky died October 7, 1999 as the result of an automobile accident on Route 37 Thursday morning. She was 17 years old and lived at 3 Indian Hill Road in New Fairfield.

Miss Butkowsky was born in Danbury November 22, 1981 daughter of Marinella E. (van der Goes) Butkowsky of New Fairfield and John M. Butkowsky of Wake Forest, N.C.

She attended New Fairfield Schools and graduated from New Fairfield High School Class of 1999. She was currently attending Western Connecticut State University. She was also employed in the office of the Dental Associates of Danbury.

Miss Butkowsky attended St. Edward's Church. She was a Beauty Pageant 1st Runner Up in the 1998 Miss Teen Connecticut and the 1999 Miss All America Teen.

Besides her mother and father, she is survived by her paternal grandfather, Alex Butkowsky of Fairfield; her sister, Dawn R. Butkowsky of New Fairfield and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Church in New Fairfield. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in New Fairfield.

Friends may call at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St., Danbury on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m.

Thomas Richard Durkin

Thomas Richard Durkin, age 63, of Balmforth Ave., Danbury, died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital. He is the husband of Thelma Morfe Durkin.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Durkin is survived by three sons; Richard T., Michael and Thomas Durkin; two daughters, Cynthia Sfaelos and Rachael Durkin all of Danbury; a brother, William Durkin, Barrington, R.I.

A Memorial Mass will be held in St. Joseph's Church, Danbury, Friday morning October 15, 1999 at 9 o'clock. Burial of cremains will take place in Elmwood, Bethel following the Memorial Mass. There are no calling hours.

Olga Zborowski
Olga Zborowski, 83, of Ridgefield, died Monday evening at Laurelwood in Ridgefield. She was the wife of the late John C. Zborowski. Mrs. Zborowski was born October 18, 1915 in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Stephen and Sophie Ostecewitz Thomashefski. She lived in Ridgefield for over 25 years, moving there from the Bronx, N.Y. A caring and dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, she had previously worked as a bookkeeper in New York City. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ridgefield. Survivors include her daughter; Christine Solimine of Stuart, Fla.; one granddaughter, Cara Solimine; and five grandsons, Steven and Paul Mazzarulli, Peter, Christopher and Andrew Solimine. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Ridgefield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Mrs. Zborowski's memory may be made to the Ridgefield Visiting Nurse Association, 90 East Ridge, Ridgefield, CT 06877.

Tara Ann Beutler
Tara Ann Beutler, 10, of 21 Holiday Point Road, Sherman, died Sunday, October 3, at the New Milford Hospital, after a canoeing accident on the Housatonic River at Gaylordsville. Tara Ann was born October 27, 1988, in Tarrytown, of Bruce Bernard and Margaret Honora (Morris) Beutler. She was a member of the sixth grade class at the Sherman Elementary School and lived in Sherman since 1995. Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Montana Joan Beutler of Sherman; paternal grandparents, William and Joan Beutler of Katonah, N.Y.; maternal grandmother, Catherine Morris of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and the late Joseph Morris. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles. Funeral services Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Church, Sherman, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Friends may call at the Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. At the request of the family, please omit flowers. Contributions may be made in Tara's name to the Sherman Elementary School Library for the purchase of books in her memory. Arrangements by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.

Howard F. Rundlett
Howard F. Rundlett, 89, of Glen Hill Road, Danbury, formerly of Staten Island, New York, died on Monday afternoon at the Glen Hill Harborside Convalescent Center, Danbury. He was the husband of Harriett Burnett Rundlett who died October 16, 1998. Mr. Rundlett was born in Brewster, New York, March 9, 1910, a son of the late John and Cora Howe Rundlett. He moved with his family first to the Bronx and then to Staten Island, New York. Mr. Rundlett attended Curtis High School of Staten Island and graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in chemistry. He was a retired chemist having been employed by Exxon Research and Engineering Company based in Linden, New Jersey retiring in 1975. A World War II US Army Veteran, he attained the rank of corporal and served with the US Army Chemical Corp. A resident of Staten Island since the age of four, he resided there until moving to Danbury in 1993. While a Staten Island resident, he was active with the Meals on Wheels Program, the Friends In Service Here (FISH) Program, a volunteer at the Sweden Home for the Aged, the Staten Island AARP and the Great Kills Moravian Church where he served as an elder. He is survived by a daughter, Susan DuFrirsz of Carmel, New York and a son, Stuart Rundlett of Decatur, Georgia as well as four grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. in the Baptist Church of Danbury, 14 Granville Avenue with the Rev. Dr. David Reinhardt, officiating. Burial will take place in the Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island, New York. Friends will be received at the Baptist Church of Danbury on Saturday after 10 a.m. The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy A. Burns
Mrs. Dorothy A. Burns, age 76, wife of James W. Burns of 4 Woodbine Lane, Newtown, died October 5, 1999 in the Danbury Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport March 13, 1923, daughter of the late Stanley and Marion (O'Neil) Makuck. She was educated in Bridgeport and graduated from Central High School. She attended X-Ray School in New York City and became an X-Ray Technician until she married her husband. She was a resident of Newtown 52 years. She is survived, besides her husband, by 2 sons; Douglas Burns of Ocean Spring, Mississippi and Stephen Burns of New Canaan; 2 daughters, Nadine Burns of Southbury and Tami Crain of Scottsdale, Arizona; 1 sister, Mildred Horbert of Royal Palms, Fla., 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Private funeral services will be held at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to Newtown Ambulance Assn., PO Box 344, Newtown, CT 06470. There are no calling hours.

Helen Rogalski
Miss Helen Rogalski, of Danbury, died on October 5, 1999 at Danbury Hospital. She was 76. Born in Newark, N.J. March 29, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sarnowski) Rogalski. Miss Rogalski was a graduate of local schools and Danbury High School. She was a long time employee of the former Davis & Geck retiring after numerous years of service. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Church. She is survived by a niece, Diane Jones of Brookfield; a nephew, Richard Rogalski of New Milford; a niece, Sheila Ruilova of New Milford; a nephew, David Rogalski of Danbury; a sister-in-law, Gloria Rogalski of New Milford; as well as several other nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Friday morning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions in Miss Rogalski's name may be made to Sacred Heart Church, 12 Cottage St., Danbury, CT 06810.

Frances (Walsh) Tigue

Frances (Walsh) Tigue, age 86, of 105 Hayestown Rd., Danbury, died at her home on Monday, October 4, 1999. She was the wife of the late Joseph Tigue.

Born in West Pittson, Pennsylvania June 9, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hutchinson) Walsh.

Mrs. Tigue was a graduate of the Class of 1930 at St. Cecelia High School in Exeter, Penn. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years.

She lived in Wyoming, Pennsylvania and New York before moving to Danbury, where she has lived for the past six years. Mrs. Tigue was a member of St. Gregory Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, J. Michael and Diane Tigue, with whom she made her home, and her grandchildren, Michael and Michelle Tigue.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Wyoming, Pennsylvania on Friday at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wyoming, Pennsylvania.

Friends may call at the Metcalfe & Shaver Funeral Home, 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Pennsylvania, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Madeline E. Edyk

Madeline E. Edyk, 89, of 75 Rita Drive, New Fairfield, wife and soulmate of 59 years of the late Harry A. Edyk, died on Monday morning at Ashlar of Newtown.

Mrs. Edyk was born in Castine, Maine, June 21, 1910, a daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Witham) Leach.

She attended schools in Maine.

A loving spouse, beloved mother, gentle grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and trusted friend, her love for her family and friends were her reason for being.

A resident of the area since 1972 coming from Norwalk, she is survived by three daughters; Lorraine Trundy Brown of Rockport, Maine, Katherine Craig and her spouse, Ronald of Woodbury and Justine E. Craw and her spouse, Terence of New Fairfield; as well as nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Baptist Church of Danbury, 14 Granville Avenue.

Burial will take place in Gerow Cemetery, New Fairfield at the convenience of the family.

Friends will be received at the time of the service.

The Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Avenue, Danbury is in charge of arrangements.

Ella Vatter

Ella Vatter, 92, of 41 Butter Brook Hill Apartments, New Milford, died Oct. 4 at Bethel Health Care. She was the widow of Eugene Vatter.

Mrs. Vatter is survived by two daughters, Eileen Hansen of East Otis, Mass., and Eleanor White of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and burial will be held in Wilmington, N.C. The National Cremation Society is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Moore Wixted

In Conn. Hospice, September 30, 1999. Michael Wixted of 65 Morse Place, New Haven, husband of Lettie Nastri Wixted; father of Mark Wixted of Somerville, Mass.; son of Margaret Wixted of Redding Ridge; brother of Daniel Wixted also of Redding Ridge; also survived by Phyllis Nastri and Fred and Toni Capone and beloved nephew Fred Capone Jr.

Mr. Wixted was born in Danbury, February 2, 1946. He attended Redding schools and Joel Barlow High School and graduated from the University of New Haven with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. He served in the US Army Reserves.

He was formerly the proprietor of Wixted Construction and until his death was a foreman for the Atlas Fence Co. He was predeceased by his father James Wixted.

A Funeral Mass was held Saturday, October 2 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in New Haven.

Interment was at All Saints Cemetery.

Mary J. Daniel

Mary J. Latella Longabucco Daniel, age 76, formerly of Fairview Dr., Danbury, died Sunday at Danbury Hospital. She was the widow of Robert Daniel.

Mrs. Daniel was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., September 17, 1923 a daughter of the late Salvatore and Amelia Rossi Latella. She resided in South Salem, N.Y. before moving to Danbury, and was a member of the Danbury Music Center. She was a cafeteria manager for the Katonah-Lewisboro Schools for many years.

Mrs. Daniel is survived by two daughters, Diane L. Houston and her husband Robert of Danbury, and Patricia Longabucco of Albany, N.Y.; as well as two grandchildren, Tara and Thomas Houston.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, CT Affiliate, 300 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450.

The family will receive friends at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division St., Danbury, Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00. Private graveside services will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ridgefield.

Gladys R. Travis

Gladys Ruth Crowther Travis, age 90, of 12 Triangle St., Danbury, died Monday at Danbury Hospital. She was the wife of Dwight Travis.

Mrs. Travis was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., August 28, 1909 a daughter of the late Sadie and George Crowther. She was a resident of Danbury for 51 years and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Danbury.

Memorials may be made to St. James Church, 25 West St., Danbury, CT 06810.

The funeral will be held at the Hull Funeral Home, 60 Division, Danbury, Thursday at 12:00 noon. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends at the Hull Home, Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00.
