Annual Firemen’s Supper Is Planned Here For January 16

Food by the ton! That means the annual Firemen’s Supper on Wednesday, January 16. People wait for this all year, and this year will be more outstanding than ever. More of everything – and better.

Every turkey has been selected with loving care by the committee under the leadership of Chairman Norris Phillips. Other committee members are Arthur Pennewill, G. Clark Burge, Harris Berkman, Leland Sinex, John C. Green.

Naturally it will be a real home style supper with everything on the table, with no limit on the number of servings you have. Just help yourself.

Serving will be from four o’clock until 8 o’clock. If you can’t eat enough to eat in four hours, it is your own fault.

And to make everything taste sweeter. The profits from the supper will be spent on YOU! For they will be buying the best in fire fighting protection plus that new wonderful 24 hour a day ambulance service.

The firemen will not only feed you all you can eat, but if you overeat will haul you to the hospital for free. What more can you ask for $1.50? And the youngsters can go, only 75 cents.

Following a tradition of the past few years, on Sunday evening, December 26th, the lovely old Bendler home in Port Penn once again opened its doors to more than 130 friends of Thelma Bendler working its magic of candle lit windows, beautifully decorated interior and the warm welcome one always finds there.

Guest flowed in throughout the evening, form Port Penn, it surrounding areas as well as Folcroft and Wallingford, Pennsylvania.

Kendall Messick, with his Polaroid photography, added to the pleasure of the guests, who found it fascinating watching their pictures slowly emerging from a blank piece of “paper.”

Her many friends proclaimed the charming hostess and her annual open house furnished a delightful climax to their Christmas holiday.
