Curtis F. Dalton

Curtis F. Dalton, of Minquadale, New Castle, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at his home. He was 71.

Mr. Dalton was an electrician with the DuPont Company and later the Ciba-Geigy Corporation in Newport, retiring in 1991 after 26 years of service.

He served his country as a US Army veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Olive E. Dalton; a daughter, JoAnne D. Brockell (Mark) of New Castle; a stepdaughter, Diane Irons (Joseph) of Newark: a son-in-law, Joseph P. Ellis of New Castle; four brothers, Claude A. Dalton of North Tazewell, Va., James A. Dalton of Medina, Ohio, Randy C. Dalton of St. Georges and Douglas D. Dalton of Bluefield, Va.; two sisters, Arlene Taylor of Farmville, Va., and Lucy Lawson of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and a great grandson.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Linda L. Ellis; and a brother, Willard Dalton.

Services were held July 3 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle.

Interment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 1096 Old Churchman's Rd., Newark, DE, 19713.

James Dale
James Francis Dale, of Wilmington, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, surrounded by his family, after battling cancer. He was 44.

A sports fan throughout his life, James enjoyed attending football and basketball games at the University of Delaware and Blue Rocks baseball games in Wilmington. James was a gifted athlete himself. At Delcastle Technical High School, he lettered in three sports. He ran cross country, specialized in the mile run and half-mile run on the track team, and was known for his outside shooting skills on the basketball court. In his senior year at Delcastle, James was named the school s Outstanding Male Athlete and graduated in 1979.

His father, Edward J. Dale, predeceased him in 1999. He is survived by his mother, Annetta A. Dale of Wilmington; two sisters, Mary Alice of Raleigh, N.C., and Patricia of Wilmington; four brothers, Edward of Newark, Stephen of Wilmington, John and his wife, Cynthia, of Middletown, and Richard of Wilmington; nieces, Julia, Marissa and Lindsay; nephew, Christopher; and great-nephew, Jordan.

The family would like to thank everyone at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center for their expertise and dedication as they helped James in his battle against cancer. The family thanks doctors Sunjay A. Shah and Michael J. Guarino and their staff. The family would also like to thank Delaware Hospice for their care and consideration.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Matthew s Church, Wilmington, on July 1. James final resting place is All Saints Cemetery on Kirkwood Highway.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810; or to St. Matthew s Church, 3 Curtis Ave., Wilmington, DE 19804.

Robert Pleasanton, Sr.
Robert Reed Pleasanton, Sr., of Melbourne, Ark., passed away at the Sunbridge Nursing Home in Elkton, Md. He was 81.

Robert was formerly from Middletown, where he was a dairy farmer for 25 years. He was born in Mount Pleasant and lived in Arkansas for 15 years. Robert was in the Army and served in the Korean War. He also loved dancing.

He is survived by his children, Robert Jr., Bill, Brian, Gary, Wally, Patrick and Linda, all of Warwick, Md., Authur of Newark, and Terry of Base Camp, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Benjamin Pleasanton of Middletown; sister, Patricia Bishop of Dover; and a dear friend, Sue Campbell of Arkansas.

A funeral service was held at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home in Middletown June 30. Interment was private.

Percila Ann Armajo Bell
Percila Ann Armajo Bell, of New Castle, passed away Friday, June 24, 2005, at Christiana Hospital. She was 49.

Percila was born on August 1, 1955, in Wilmington to Alvin Armajo and Phoebe Richard Armajo. She was a registered nurse who cared for many people in Delaware and because of illnesses was on disability.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two sons, Chico Rosario of Middletown and Tito Rosario of New Castle; her sisters, Patty, Phoebe and Paula; a brother, Alvin; and four grandchildren, Zaquan Rosario, Shakeyrah Rosario, Kalea Rosario and Tito Rosario Jr.

A memorial service was held July 2 at The House of Wright Mortuary, Wilmington.

Charles McClure, Jr.
Charles Austin McClure, Jr., of Townsend, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 29, 2005. He was surrounded by his loving family.

He was an animal lover who also enjoyed fishing, swimming and spending time with his family. He was a former member of Praise Assembly in Newark.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McClure, Sr.; his grandmother, Louise McClure; and his grandfather, Slim McClure. Charles is survived by his loving aunts, who loved and cared for him, Rose and Mike Wilson, with whom he lived, Bertha and Don Zern, Rita C. McClure, and Dawn and Scott Baker, all of Townsend; two uncles, Robert and Barbara McClure and Richard and Debbie McClure, all of Townsend; his loving cousins; and a brother, Austin Cookie McClure.

A service was held at Townsend Free Will Baptist Church, Townsend July 2. Interment was in Townsend Cemetery.

George McKee, Sr.
George L. McKee, Sr., of Delaware City, died suddenly Friday, July 1, 2005, at his home. He was 52.

Mr. McKee, a native Delawarean, was born in Wilmington November 10, 1952. An expert waterman throughout his life, he was the co-owner of the Delaware City Marina for nine years and specialized in towing, salvage and boat repair. In his leisure time, Mr. McKee greatly enjoyed fishing, crabbing and boating with his beloved family.

He was preceded in death by his father, James C. McKee, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lee Stepler McKee, with whom he would have celebrated one year of married in August 2005; two sons, George L. McKee, Jr. of Newark and Brian L. McKee of Delaware City; mother, Florence Brown Hall of Milford; stepmother, Eleanor McKee of Bear; two brothers, James C. McKee, Jr. and David Hall, both of Newark; sister, Linda Draper of Milford; stepsister, Lillian Reynolds of Smyrna; nine grandchildren; and many children and grandchildren who were adopted by heart.

A funeral service was held July 6 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made payable to The George L. McKee, Sr. Memorial Fund, c/o Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home.

Joseph R. Arch
Joseph R. Arch, of Smyrna, and formerly of Rising Sun, Md., passed away Monday, June 20, 2005, at Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 62.

He was born in Latrobe, Pa., and was a history and economics teacher for 36 years at Perryville High School, Perryville, Md., from 1966 until his retirement in 2002. During his tenure at Perryville High School, he was a longtime dedicated coach of softball, football, track and field, and basketball. He was very well respected by both students and colleagues. Aside from enjoying spending time with his family, he served as a volunteer in the Maryland and Delaware Democratic parties for many years.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Fidea. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rose Mary Arch; three daughters, Julie Blackistone, of Elkton; Mary Lee Blackistone, of Rising Sun, Md.; and Jo Anna Blackistone, of Elkton; a son, Robert Blackistone, of Laurel, Md.; a brother, Robert Arch, and his wife Rita, of Hagerstown, Md.; and a grandson, Carl Dale Hall Jr., of Rutherfordton, N.C.

Memorial services were held June 25 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna. Interment was private.

Andrew John Biddle
Andrew John Biddle of Wilmington passed away peacefully on Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was 35.

Mr. Biddle, born on Nov. 5, 1971, fought a strong and courageous life-long battle with cystic fibrosis and enjoyed his last 13 years as the result of a double-lung transplant.

He was proud to be a 1990 graduate of Wilmington Friends School. He attended the University of Delaware and also obtained his Emergency Medical Technician certification.

He was recently employed with J.P. Morgan Chase Bank for 10 years in the credit card marketing department.

Mr. Biddle was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed waterfowl hunting, golf and following the Formula-1 racing series. He will be forever remembered for his inspirational courage, tenderness, strength, humility, amazing sense of humor and positive outlook on life despite great adversities.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Clifford Hearn of Middletown; a brother and a sister-in-law David and Valerie Biddle of Middletown; two nephews, David Jr. and Samuel of Middletown; his father, Lawrence J. Biddle of St. Petersburg, Fla.; an uncle, David Brannan of Chesapeake City, Md.; his girlfriend, Anne Gromadzki of Wilmington; his grandparents, Millard and Hattye Mae Biddle of Dover; two aunts and an uncle-in-law, Connie Biddle of Dover, and Nancy Jo and Albert Lambertson of Dover; and with many cousins and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 11 a.m., at Old St. Anne s Church, 105 St. Anne s Church Road (at the intersection of Del. 71 and St. Anne s Church Road), Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Wilmington Friends School, Andrew J. Biddle Financial Aid Fund, 101 School Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.

Josephine Testa
Mrs. Josephine Testa of Bear, formerly of Steubenville, Ohio, and Claymont, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, June 25, 2007. She was 94.

Mrs. Testa was born on June 13, 1913, in Curwensville, Pa., daughter of late Luciano and Venusta Titi Sperduti.

A talented homemaker throughout her life, she greatly enjoyed crocheting, cooking, traveling and watching movies. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who devoted her life to caring for both her family and anyone in need. Strong in mind and spirit, she was an inspiration and role model to all who knew her.

Mrs. Testa was a member of the Brandywine Senior Center and the C & D Senior Center during her later years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Testa; and a son, Tulio Testa.

She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Angela M. Wiesner of Bear and Antoinette and Earl Westlake Sr. of Steubenville, Ohio; three grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Diane Poorman and James, of Chesapeake City, Md., and Brenda Mamula and Earl Westlake Jr., both of Ohio; and four great-granddaughters.

Mass of Christian Burial was offered on June 28, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, Bear.

Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

John Joseph Grady
John Joseph Grady of New Castle, formerly of Townsend, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Christiana Hospital in Newark. He was 87.

Mr. Grady was born on Nov. 27, 1919, in New Castle, son of the late Mary (Krel) and William Grady.

He resided in New York most of his life.

Mr. Grady worked at the Empire State Building in the security department and was a doorman in various wealthy Manhattan high rises where he regularly came in contact with famous celebrities, movie stars and had the honor of meeting six U.S Presidents. Following his retirement in 1979, he moved to Delaware.

He was an avid sports fan and was a Golden Gloves boxer in New York City.

Mr. Grady was a member of Building Services Union, 32B Brotherhood Union, and AFLCIO in New York City

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen Grady, in 1964; his second wife, Velma Jessie Grady, in 1991; a son, Gregory Toth, in 1990; and a brother, Charles A. Grady, in 2004.

He is survived by his companion of 12 years, Audrey Deyarmin; two daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa E. Grady of Georgetown and Lorraine and Barry Stricklin of South Carolina; a son and a daughter-in-law, William Patrick and Linda Grady of Swartz Creek, Mich.; three stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, Mark and Hara Prickett of Wilmington, Jeffrey and Linda Prickett of Townsend, and Vincent Prickett of Wilmington; a daughter-in-law, Olga Cookie Toth of Florida; a brother, William Frances Grady of South Carolina; a sister, Ann Houtman of Wilmington; 10 grandchildren, Alan, Carly, Sara, Daniel, Paul, Heather, Jason, Thomas, Craig and Chad; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on July 3 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.

Burial was in Townsend Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stockley Center, 26351 Patriots Way, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Robert P. Jerry Jaroszewski
Robert P. Jerry Jaroszewski of Port Penn, formerly of Georgetown, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Broadmeadow Health Care in Middletown. He was 78.

Mr. Jaroszewski was born on Dec. 28, 1928, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., son of the late Pauline (Jablonski) and Joseph Jaroszewski.

He retired from the State of Delaware where he worked at Sussex Vo-Tech in Georgetown. He was also retired from the U.S. Army after serving his country for 24 years. During those years, he served two tours in Vietnam and one tour of duty in Korea.

He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his three beloved dogs.

Mr. Jaroszewski was a member of the VFW Post No. 838 in Port Penn, a past commander for the Sussex Memorial Post No. 7422 in Georgetown, and VFW Post No. 7234 in Ocean View.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife in 1986, Fayetta (Pusey); and two brothers, John and Edward Jaroszewski.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Beverly (Petrylak); two daughters, Polli Funk of New Castle and Nancy Jaroszewski of Greenwood; two stepdaughters, Linda Whaley of Townsend and Karen LeCates of Laurel; five grandchildren, Amber, Donald, Kim, Brian and Matthew; five great-grandchildren, Kait, Matt, Ryan, Dylan and Jared; and a brother, Donald Jaroszewski of Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Graveside services were held on July 3 at Union Cemetery, Georgetown.

Adela A. Ruth
Adela A. Ruth of Townsend passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. She was 79.

Mrs. Ruth was born on July 24, 1927, in Buffalo, N.Y., daughter of the late John W. and Alice Paulson.

She worked as a bookkeeper for 14 years with the Chandler Funeral Home and later for Astro Power until she retired.

Mrs. Ruth led a very active life. Some of her hobbies were gardening, golf, fishing, bowling, and entertaining family and friends in her home or in Florida, where she spent three months of the year.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Edward A. Ruth; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Jack and Bobbie Ruth of Burgaw, N.C., and Allen E. and Leslie Ruth of Clayton; a daughter and a son-in-law, Laurie and Eric Snodgrass of Newark; two sisters, Dorothy McDaniel and Jacquieline Moore; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services were held on June 28 at St. Paul s United Methodist Church, Odessa.

Robert Paul Bobby Jones, IV

Robert Paul Jones, IV, of Conowingo, Md., died Monday, June 24, 2002 at home. He was 22.

He was born on May 28, 1980 in Elkton, Md. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Cecil County, Md. and was an electrician apprentice for I.B.E.W. 313 in New Castle. He was a member of the Charlestown Missionary Baptist Church, Charlestown, Md. He enjoyed fishing and outdoor sports.

Mr. Jones is survived by his mother and stepfather, Sharon and Jeff Fox of Conowingo, Md.; his father and stepmother, Robert, III and Margaret of North East, Md.; a sister, Ashley Nicole Jones of Conowingo, Md.; a half sister, Karin Hood of Rosevelt, Ariz.; a half brother, Martin Doninger of Conowingo, Md.; step siblings, Amber Fox, Angela Fox, Aleisha Sorbara, all of Del., Theresa Leilich, Lisa Yurcovic, Daniel Yurcovic all of Edgewood, Md.; and his paternal grandmother, Betty Jones of Charlestown, Md.

Services were held June 27, 2002 at Crouch Funeral Home, North East, Md.

Interment was in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, Md.

Richard W. Singleton

Richard W. Singleton, of Smyrna, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at home. He was 71.

Mr. Singleton was born Dec. 4, 1930 in Clayton, Ga., the son of the late William A. and Mildred Land Singleton.

He worked for 34 years as a shift supervisor for Delmarva Power at the Delaware City Power Plant before retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and an avid bass fisherman and duck hunter.

Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Marsh Singleton; a sister, Betty Ward; and a stepson, Rockie Slyman.

He is survived by his wife, Rachael McCandless Singleton; three stepsons, Paul Bishop of Dover, William Bishop of Middletown and Charles Bishop (Patti) of Lincoln; a sister, Virginia Dorough of Augusta, Ga.; and two grandsons, Talan and Brandon Bishop.

Services were held June 28, 2002 in the Faries Funeral Chapel, Smyrna.

Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 623 W. Newport Pike, Graystone Plaza, Wilmington, DE 19804.

Vincent Richichi

Vincent Richichi, of Middletown, formerly of Waterford, N.J., died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 72.

Mr. Richichi worked as a landscaper for most of his life, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the KOC in Waterford, N.J. and enjoyed nature and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Santa and Giuseppi Richichi; and two brothers, Domenick of Conn. and recently by Antonio of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Rosa; a son, Joseph F. Richichi (Anna) of Bear; three grandchildren, Rosemarie, Daniela and Christopher; brothers-in-law, Francesco (Silvana), Benito (Con-cetta), Gugliemo (Mimma); and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held June 28 at Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered June 29 in Price Hall at St. Joseph's Complex, Middletown.

Interment was in the Forest Cemetery in Middletown.
