'Mr. Bill' Beyer Jr., 71 LAUREL - William U. "Mr. Bill" Beyer Jr. of Laurel died Monday, March 3, 2003, in the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. He was 71. He had fought courageously for three months following an automobile accident. Mr. Beyer was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late William U. Beyer Sr. and Margaret Monaghan Beyer. He lived most of his life in Staten Island, N.Y. From 1951 until 1955, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine U.S.S. Crevalle and he was stationed in New London, Conn. After his time in the service, Mr. Beyer worked for the New York Telephone Co. In 1957, he started employment with his father-in-law's moving company, Rosebank Storage Warehouse, in Staten Island. For approximately 10 years, he owned and operated his own moving company, Safety Van Co., as an agent for United Van Lines. After moving to Laurel, he held various positions with such companies as Montgomery Ward, The Guide, Red Lobster and was working for Wal-Mart in Seaford at the time of his death. He was also the owner, along with his wife, of the Hollybrook Horse Farm in Laurel. His favorite pastimes included fishing and gardening Mr. Beyer was a member and past vice commander of Watkins Kellett American Legion in Staten Island and organized the Sons of the Legion. He was also very involved in various other civic and professional organizations. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Beyer. He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Lorraine Mary Beyer; four sons and three daughters-in-law, William and Mary Beyer of Highland Mills, N.Y., Brian and Coleen Beyer of Seaford, Barry Beyer of Laurel and Bruce Sr. and Kathy Beyer of Laurel; a brother, Robert Beyer of Carlsbad, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Friday in the Short Funeral Home, 700 West St. in Laurel. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, where friends may also call one hour earlier. The Rev. Bryan Rice will officiate. Burial will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery. Terri Lea Lankford, 44 MILLSBORO - Terri Lea Lankford of Millsboro died Monday, March 3, 2003, in her residence. She was 44. Mrs. Lankford was born Oct. 25, 1958 in Seaford, daughter of Hilda Darby Lankford of Galestown, Md. and the late Jack Lankford. She graduated from North Dorchester High School class of 1976. Mrs. Lankford was employed at Johnny Janosik in the payroll human resources department. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Allen. In addition to her mother she is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, F. Nicole and David Keatley of Elkton, Md.; a grandson, Jack David Keatley of Elkton; a fiancee', Barry Mullin of Sharptown, Md.; four sisters, Sandra Eskridge and Vickie Lankford both of Galestown, Jackie Shockley of Frankford and Karen Potter of Seaford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to the Research Department at St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Arrangements by Framptom-Hawkins- Eskow in Federalsburg. Charles C. Marker, 95 DOVER - Charles C. Marker of Dover died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Capitol Healthcare Services, Dover. He was 95. Mr. Marker was born Feb. 5, 1908, in Viola, son of the late William and Lena (Peterson) Marker. He was a pioneer in the poultry industry on the Eastern Shore as the owner, president and chairman of the board of Marker's Poultry Farms and Hatchery in Dover for more then 70 years. Mr. Marker served the poultry industry and his community in many capacities. In 1942 and 1943, he was president of the Delaware Poultry Improvement Association. He also served as director of the Northeastern Poultry Producers Council, served on the National Farm Bureau Federation Poultry Committee, the Eastern Shore Hatcherymen's Association and a member of the Delmarva Poultry Industry, Inc. He received many awards, including the Delaware Roadside Improvement Council Award, and the DPI Distinguished Citizen Award. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Dover Kiwanis Club for more then 50 years, and served on the board of directors for Kent General Hospital, In 1989, he was awarded a lifetime membership in Kiwanis International and in July 2002 was awarded the prestigious George F. Hixson Fellowship Award. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marian R. Marker of Dover; a son, Cutis C. Marker of Dover; three grandsons and their wives, Michael C. and Diane Frebert of Dover, Craig C. and Nancy Marker of Townsend, and Kevin S. and Kelly Marker of Ashland, Va.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Karen S. and Rob Frebert-Szymczak of Midlothian, Va. and Jody L. and Julio Garcia of Newark; and eight great-grandchildren. Remembrance services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. Mary Bernice Plummer, 82 ROCK HALL, Md. - Mary Bernice Plummer of Rock Hall died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, in her home. She was 82. Ms. Plummer was born Oct. 2, 1920 in Rock Hall, daughter of the late William H. and Esther Creighton Kendall. She was a lifetime resident of Rock Hall. She graduated from Rock Hall High School. Ms. Plummer married her late husband, Walter C. Plummer in 1937. Aside from being a homemaker, Ms. Plummer worked at the Rock Hall Shirt Factory, as well as the Campbell Soup Co. in Chestertown. She enjoyed writing poetry as well as short stories, some of which she had published. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Ms. Plummer was a member of the Rock Hall United Methodist Women and the Raum Chapel Church, where she served as historian for many years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Minnie Mae Hepbron in 1996; two brothers, Owen Kendall and Creighton Kendall; a grandson, James T. Harrison Jr.; and a great grandchild, Cody Kelley. She is survived by a son, Jack E. Plummer of Rock Hall; two daughters, Esther Harrison of Rock Hall and Mary Jane Harrison of Shongaloo, La.; a brother, John Kendall of Hutchinson, Kan.; a sister, Virginia Jacquette of Smithfield, Va.; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Woodrow Joseph Wilson, 85 TEMPERANCEVILLE, Va. - Woodrow Joseph Wilson of Temperanceville, formerly of Harrington, Del., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, in his home. He was 85. Mr. Wilson was born in Harrington, son of the late John P. and Lelia A. (Messick) Wilson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked as a purchasing agent for U.S. Plywood in Pocomoke, Md. for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, in 1997; a daughter, Lelia Anne Matthews, in 1996; four brothers, John, William, Raymond and James Wilson; and three sisters, Olive Walters, Elizabeth Wilson and Lelia A. Willin. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Frank L. and Mary Alice Wilson of Seaford, Del.; a granddaughter and her husband, Jo Anne M. and Sheldon Butler of Harrington; a great-granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer J. Stubbs-Morgan and Ron Morgan of Lincoln; a great-great-grandson, Byron S. Morgan; and several nieces and nephews. Jimmie Lee Wilson, 59 DOVER - Jimmie Lee Wilson of Dover died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 59. Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Harrison, Ga., son of Evelyn Wilson; and the late John Wilson Jr. He was affectionately known as "The Walking Man's Friend". In his early years he attended Booker T. Washington Elementary and William Henry High schools. Since the early 1970s, Jimmie Lee was well-known for selling cars. He owned and operated Pop-Pop's Auto Sales across from Rodney Village Shopping Center. One of Jimmies Lee's most recent purchases was a red Grand Prix he felt made him look younger. He was also a part-time school bus driver for Dover Leasing for several years and a supervisor for Star Building Services of Wilmington. Mr. Wilson attended Sunday School and church at Union Baptist Church where he was baptized. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Dover. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 21 years, Beatrice Wilson; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry Wilson, Dianna and Sammi Smith and Dontayna Wilson, all of Dover; a son, Ricardo Wilson, of Dover; three grandchildren, Ricardo Cannon Wilson, Valdez Wilson and Zakii Atkinson; a granddaughter-in-law, Shawndria Green; a sister, Janette Wilson; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donnie and Sonya Wilson and Bobby Wilson; a half sister, Bessie Smith and her husband, Ben Jr.; a half brother, Johnny Wilson; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Irene Turner; two sisters-in-law, Joann Evans and Dianna Richardson; a brother-in-law, Carlton Turner and his wife, Angela Turner; three goddaughters, April Evans, Alanna Speakes and Carla Sanders; a special aunt, Carrie Stanford; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. McQuaide, 64 REHOBOTH BEACH - Jacqueline C. McQuaide of Rehoboth Beach died of cancer Sunday, March 4, 2001, in her home. She was 64. Mrs. McQuaide was born in Sunbury, Pa. She was employed as a hostess at the Lamp Post Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach prior to her illness. Mrs. McQuaide enjoyed working out at the Midway Fitness Center, and also enjoyed the beach and reading. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edward J. McQuaide of Rehoboth Beach; three sons and two daughters, Keith A. McQuaide of Pittsburgh, Pamela Woodard of Jacksonville, Fla., Edward H. McQuaide and Colleen H. Regan, both of Blackwood, N.J., and Daniel J. McQuaide of Gloucester, N.J.; a brother, Jerry Michaels of Liverpool, Pa.; a sister, Deborah Prostko of Coraopolis, Pa.; two granddaughters and a grandson, Megan A. McQuaide of Gloucester, Joshua McQuaide of Pitman, N.J., and Shannon Woodard of Jacksonville; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Woodard of Jacksonville. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
