Sarah Evans, 69
SEAFORD - Sarah Evans of Seaford died of heart failure Thursday, March 6, 2003, in Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 69.
Mrs. Evans was born Jan. 1, 1934 in Greenwood, daughter of the late Dudley and Alphonzo Evans.
She was a teacher at Howard Ennis School, Georgetown.
Mrs. Evans was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Dubbin Hill Bridgeville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers.
She is survived by five sons, Garry Evans of Phoenix, Ariz., Lance Fletcher of Seaford, Lenard Fletcher of Bridgeville, Rydell Fletcher of Rockville, Md. and Mark Fletcher of Greensboro, N.C.; a daughter, Nikita Powell of Seaford; a brother and sister-in-law, James Sr. and Jamesie Evans of Bridgeville; three sisters, Fretheid Evans, Bessie Holland and Martha Knox, all of Bridgeville; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Trinty United Methodist Church, Dubbin Hill, Bridgeville.
Services will be noon Wednesday at the church, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
Arrangements by Young's Funeral Home, Milford.

Christine Zimmermann, 45
LEBANON - Christine Zimmermann of Lebanon died Friday, March 7, 2003. She was 45.
Mrs. Zimmermann was formerly employed as a dental technician with Dr. DiSabatino, she was also a homemaker.
She enjoyed cooking, fishing, crabbing the outdoors.
Mrs. Zimmermann was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her long time boyfriend with whom she lived, James "Tim" Meeks.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Faries Funeral Home, 1250 S. Governors Ave., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.

Lillian Elizabeth Cook, 92
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Lillian Elizabeth Shultie Cook of Federalsburg died Friday, March 9, 2001, in Chesapeake Woods in Cambridge. She was 92.
Mrs. Cook was born March 7, 1909, in Hollandsville, Kent County, Del., the daughter of the late Philip and Carrie E. Mitchell Shultie.
She was a seamstress and had served as a Civil Defense airplane spotter during World War II.
Mrs. Cook was a member of Friendship Community Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Cook, on April 2, 1997; a son, Philip Bruce Wilson; two brothers, Elwood and Fred Shultie; and a sister, Pearl Baker.
She is survived by a son, Charles N. Cook of Hurlock; two daughters, Lois C. Faulkner of Bridgeville, Del., and Doris Murphy of Seaford, Del.; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at the Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home P.A. in Federalsburg, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Denzil Cheek will officiate.
Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery in Federalsburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Unity-Washington United Methodist Church, Endowment Fund or Scholarship Fund, PO Box 298, Hurlock, MD 21643.

John R. Phillips, 63
DOVER - John R. Phillips of Dover, and formerly of Odessa, died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in his home. He was 63.
Mr. Phillips worked for the Acme Market in Middletown for more than 35 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a former member of the Volunteer Hose Co. of Middletown.
He is survived by a son, Dale Phillips of Townsend; a brother, William M. Phillips of Smyrna; two grandchildren; and two nieces.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Old Drawyers Cemetery near Odessa.

Eva Sargeant Collins, 87
GEORGETOWN - Eva Sargeant Collins of Georgetown died Friday, March 9, 2001, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. She was 87.
Ms. Collins was born in London, daughter of the late Frederick E. and Eva Bell Sargeant.
She was a supervisor for the Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Collins was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Panama Canal Society and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jeannette and Joseph H. Green of Georgetown; four grandsons, Thomas Henning (Miriam), Frederick Henning (Rosa), Mark Henning (Sandra-Dee) and Tim Henning; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 326 S. Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Ruth Myers Cullis, 96
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Ruth Myers Cullis of Chestertown died Thursday, March 8, 2001, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown. She was 96.
Mrs. Cullis was born June 17, 1904, on Doe Neck Farm in Hainesville, daughter of the late Carl and Maggie Younger Myers.
She graduated from Chestertown High School in 1921, then graduated from the Maryland State Normal School in 1923.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, family and friends and caning.
Mrs. Cullis was a member of the St. James United Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Services and the Rural Woman's Homemakers Club
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Cullis, in 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Ruth Pennell of Worton; three sons; Samuel Leon Cullis of Chestertown, Thomas Carlton Cullis of Severna Park and Herbert Myers Cu1lis of Gaithersburg; two sisters, Naomi M. Wheat and Anna M. Welch, both of Kent County; a brother, Paul Myers of Kent County; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Myers, of Kent County; a brother-in-law, Clarence Leveredge of Elkton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Monday at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home P.A., 130 Speer Road, Chestertown.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James United Methodist Church, Worton.
Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. James United Methodist Church, PO Box 156, Worton, MD 21678.

Raymond Lee Mariner, 70
SALISBURY, Md. - Raymond Lee Mariner of Salisbury died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. He was 70.
Mr. Mariner was born in Allen, the son of the late Harvey Weldon Mariner Sr. and Julia Marie Huffington Mariner.
He served in the U.S. Army and was discharged with a Special Service Award.
Mr. Mariner retired in 1995 after 37 years as an inspector with the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
He loved country and bluegrass music. He was devoted to his family and friends.
Mr. Mariner was a member of Cloverleaf Trotting Association, the Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association, and the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association. He had owned and raced several horses over the years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Ellen Mariner, in February 1991; his son, Thomas Earl Mariner; a grandchild, Jodie Lee Robbins; a step-daughter, Joyce A. Robbins; three brothers, Parker C. Mariner, Harry H. Mariner and Charles F. Mariner; and a sister, Ida Belle Furbish.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Lee Mariner of San Carlos, Calif.; three step-children, Robert I. Martin Sr. of Snow Hill, Marvin L. Martin of West Ocean City, and Patricia E. Trader of Pocomoke City; two brothers, Harvey L. Mariner of Seaford, Del. and William H. Mariner of Salisbury; a devoted friend, Alice H. Etherington of Harrington, Del.; 10 step-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. today at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Joe Lynch will officiate.
Burial will be in Allen Cemetery, Allen.
