Leon Malvas, 69
MILFORD - Leon Malvas of Milford, formerly a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, Va., died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was 69.
Mr. Malvas was born in Gary, Ind.
He retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years, serving in Korea and Vietnam.
Mr. Malvas more recently retired from General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division.
He is survived by four daughters, Loretta Keen of Lincoln, Deborah Harman of Lexington, N.C., Sherrie Goza of Virginia Beach and Carla Royse of Milford; a son, David Malvas of Virginia Beach; four stepdaughters, Gloria Meeks of Oaktown, Ind., Linda Gee of Chesapeake, Va., Theresa Gaul of Hobucken, N.C., and Marcella Brothers of Norfolk, Va.; three stepsons, Charles Cook and Robert Cook of Tacoma, Wash., and James Cook of Gates, N.C., 28 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Warren Wilson will be officiating.
Burial will be with military honors in Rosewood Memorial Park.

Archibald J. 'Biff' Sira, 72
REHOBOTH BEACH - Archibald J. "Biff" Sira of Rehoboth Beach and formerly of Garfield, N.J., died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in his home. He was 72.
Mr. Sira was born in Jersey City, N.J., the son of the late Archie and Agnes Sira.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy for seven years.
Mr. Sira retired from Bergen Wire & Cable Company in Lodi, N.J.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, in 1988.
He is survived by four children, Mary Soronen of Westland. Mich., Jackie Feltz of Milton, Michele Sira of Palm Bay, Fla., and John Lewis of Cliffside Park, N.J.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Queen of Peace Church in Maywood, N.J.
Burial will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi.
Arrangements by Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck.

Anantrai Sheth, 76
DOVER - Anantrai Sheth of Dover died Monday, March 19, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, after a short illness. He was 76.
He is survived by a son, Kamlesh Sheth and his children, Rusmabh and Raina; a daughter, Jayshree Vora; three brothers, K.C., Bhupatrai and Pratap C. Sheth, all of India, and two additional grandchildren.
A prayer session will be from 3-4 p.m. Saturday in the home of Kamlesh Sheth, 151 Meetinghouse Lane, Dover.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, 640 S. State Street, Dover, DE 19901.

June Faye Wilson, 58
LAUREL - June Faye Wilson of Laurel died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. She was 58.
Mrs. Wilson was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Salisbury, the daughter of William Henry Brown Sr. of Salisbury and the late Helen Margaret Slatcher Brown.
She attended Mardela High School.
Mrs. Wilson was employed as a certified nursing assistant with Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford retiring in 1995 after 25 years of service.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Wilson, in 1998.
In addition to her father, she is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, William H. Brown Jr. and Joan R. Brown of Hebron; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda D and J. Craig Smith Sr. of Salisbury, Md.; a niece, Christine M. Brown of Hebron; two nephews, J. Craig Smith Jr. and J. Patrick Smith, both of Salisbury; a great niece, Jocelyn Rae Smith and a great nephew, James Riley Smith, and many other family members and close friends.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Bounds Funeral Home on E. Main St in Salisbury, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Joel K. Beiler will officiate.
Burial will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens near Hebron.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Wilson to the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes Research, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Judith S. Stachecki, 63
DOVER - Judith S. Stachecki of Dover died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 63.
Mrs. Stachecki was born June 11, 1939 in Dover, daughter of late Herbert and Mary Emily (Saxton) Hughes.
She retired from Bayhealth Medical Center after 12 years of service.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley J. Stachecki of Dover; two sons and their respective companions, Michael D. Cox and Anne Pullin, both of Millsboro, and Boatswain's Mate Stanley Stachecki III and Daniell Lashbrook, both of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Terry Schellinger of Smyrna and Kellye and Greg Dempsey of Dover; two step-sons, John Stachecki of Philadelphia, Pa. and Steven Stachecki of Dewey Beach; a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert E. Hughes Jr. and Nancy Hughes of Dover; a sister and brother-in-law, Georgia Lee and Louis DeMarie of Ocean View; five grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Cox of Milton, U.S. Marine Pfc. Gregory Dempsey of Twentynine Palms Air Ground Combat Center, Calif., Amy Dempsey of Dover and Alex Cox and Rachel Cox, both of Smyrna; three step-grandsons, Conor Davis, Brian Davis and Brendan Davis, all of Millsboro; her favorite aunt, Martha Saxton Jones of Dover; six nieces and nephews, Rebecca DeMarie, Louis DeMarie, Peter DeMarie, Mary Spivak, Patricia Williams and Meredith Greer; and special friends Debbie West and Carol Corbitt.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Dover Elks Lodge, Forrest Avenue, Dover, where a celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kent County Cancer Society.

Command Sgt. Maj. George A. Arpino, 80
COPPERAS COVE, Texas - Command Sgt. Maj. George A. Arpino of Copperas Cove, formerly of Dover, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in Austin Texas. He was 80.
Command Sgt. Maj. Arpino was born Dec. 16, 1922 in Highbury, England, son of the late Matthew and Eleanor Arpino.
He was a member of the U.S. Army for 30 years and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam before retiring in September 1974. His military awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, the World War II Victory Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Matthew and Frank, and a grandson, Justin Truax.
He is survived by his wife, Laverne B. Arpino of Copperas Cove, Texas; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and John Lupinetti of Harrington, Del., Becky and Charlie Hinerman of Greensboro, N.C. and Shari and Mark Pettit of Methuen, Mass.; a son, Jeffrey G. Arpino of Houston, Texas; three granddaughters, Megan Clough and her husband Chris of Milford, Del., Molly and Shelby Pettit of Methuen Mass.; and three stepchildren and their families.
Services for Command Sgt. Maj. George A. Arpino were held Feb. 12, 2003, in Killeen, Texas.

Louise S. Emory, 92
MILFORD - Louise S. Emory of Milford died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Milford Center, Milford. She was 92.
Mrs. Emory was a secretary for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company in Baltimore. She left that position to become a full-time homemaker. After her sons were grown, she worked alongside her husband, Dr. Russell J. Emory, who preceded her in death in 1997, in his dental practice in Milford as a dental assistant and receptionist until their retirement.
One of her favorite pastimes was playing bridge with friends.
She was a member of the Kent Chapter 11 of the Order of Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron, and a member of the AARP. She was a long-time member of Avenue United Methodist Church in Milford, and was active in the Mary Circle there.
She is survived by two sons, R. Clayton Emory of Glen Arm, Md. and Dr. Robert N. Emory of Milford; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, where friends may from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Avenue United Methodist Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, DE 19963.
