Caroline S. Cox, 93
OCEAN VIEW - Caroline S. Cox of Ocean View, formerly of Trainer, Pa., died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 93.
Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and helped manage a mobile home park with her husband of 73 years, Martin E. Cox, Jr., who preceded her in March of 2000.
She is survived by a son, Elmer M. Cox of Ocean View; two grandchildren, Brett Cox and Elaine Carey; a brother, Joe Helpa; and a sister, Blanche Thomas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Robert Moreland Funeral Home, Ninth and Main Streets, Trainer, Pa., where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, Pa.

Mabel Moffitt Evans, 87
LAUREL - Mabel Moffitt Evans of Laurel died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Seaford Center, Genesis Eldercare, where she had lived since 1996. She was 87.
Mrs. Evans was born in Elkton, Md., daughter of the late Arthur T. and M. Etta Hobson Moffitt.
She was a 1935 graduate of Smyrna High School and graduated from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Va. in 1939.
She retired after 30 years of teaching home economics and biology at Laurel High School.
Mrs. Evans enjoyed crafts, quilt making, flea markets and yard sales.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence J. Evans, in 1994; and a sister, Ruth H. Moffitt, in 1986.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Irene Moffitt and George Caley of Smyrna; a stepson, David E. Evans of Laurel; and two stepdaughters, Ann Spicer and Deborah Dolby, both of Laurel.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel. Pastor Carol Terry will officiate.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Cemetery in Smyrna.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Seaford Center, Genesis Eldercare, 1100 Norman Eskridge Highway, Seaford, DE 19973.

James J. Holahan, 73
LONGNECK - James J. Holahan of Long Neck, formerly of Philadelphia, died Thursday March, 20, 2003, in his home. He was 73.
Mr. Holahan was a retired plaster and cement finisher for Local Union Eight of Philadelphia.
He was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Del. 24, Oak Orchard near Millsboro.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Dolores Mae Holahan; a son and daughter-in-law, William J. and Laura Holahan; a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen M. and Frank Bauer; three sisters, Margaret Dougherty, Joan Sharp and Kathleen Puppio; and six grandchildren, James, Christopher, William, Daniel, Joseph and Colleen.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947

Douglas Warren Lineweaver, 45
LAUREL - Douglas Warren Lineweaver of Laurel died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 45.
Mr. Lineweaver was a machine operator at the Dupont Company in Seaford for 22 years.
He loved all sorts of outdoor activities including hunting, fishing, boating and riding his ATV. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Mr. Lineweaver was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Anita Lineweaver; a son, Coty Lane Lineweaver; his parents, Emmitt and Jeanette Lineweaver of Seaford; a brother and sister in law, Dennis and Lynn Lineweaver of Georgetown; a sister, Teresa Sellers of Greenwood; his mother and father-in-law, Jean and Larry Crowder of Seaford; and a brother-in-law, Alan L. Fogleman Jr. of Seaford.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Christ Lutheran Church, 533 Shipley St, Seaford.
Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery, Oak Grove.
Instead of flowers the family suggests donations to Christ Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, 533 N. Shipley St., Seaford, DE 19973.

James R. Roy Sr., 61
DOVER - James R. Roy Sr. of Dover died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 61.
Mr. Roy was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Wilmington, son of Elma F. Tucker Roy of Dover and the late Joseph B. Roy Sr.
He was the owner and president of Roy's Electric Services Inc. in Cheswold, which provided service to the Delaware area for 54 years.
Mr. joined the Cheswold Fire Co. on Sept. 14, 1957. He served as the company's fire chief from 1963 to 1972. At that time, he was the youngest person in Delaware to be elected as a fire chief.
He also served as fire recorder (1959-1960), first assistant fire chief (1962), president of the company (1974, 1984-1991 and 2000-2003), deputy fire chief (1995-1996), pension chairman (1996-1999 and 2002), vice president (1997) and trustee from (1999-2002).
Mr. Roy also served on the building committee, as chairman for the new building in 1992; on the truck committee for purchasing fire engines and rescue trucks in 1964, 1978, 1984 and 1990; and most recently on the new engine committee.
He was past president of the Kent County Volunteer Firemen's Association and a member of the committee that created the Kent County Emergency Dispatch Center.
Mr. Roy was a named Fireman of the Year by the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association and placed in the organization's hall of fame in 1974.
He was member of the Delaware State Fire Chief's Association and the Kent County Fire Chief's Association and had been a Delaware State Fire School instructor since 1968
Mr. Roy was also a member of the Otter Run Fish & Game Club in Lycoming County, Pa., where his great love of the outdoors made him a guiding member of the organization. He was also was a member of the National Rifle Association, and Ducks Unlimited.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1987.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Pearson Roy of Dover; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. Jr. and Jennifer L. Roy of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law. Trina and Tim Stump of Dover; a brother, J. Benjamin Roy Jr. of Rehoboth Beach; and four grandchildren, Ashley N. Roy and Hannah M. Roy, both of Dover, and Cody B. Hughes and Jordan E. Hughes, both of Mardela Springs, Md.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Cheswold Fire Co., Main Street, Cheswold.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the fire house.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made in the Cheswold Fire Co., PO Box 186, Cheswold, DE 19936 or the Delmarva Council Boys Scout of America, 801 Washington Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Phyllis Joan Walls, 78
REHOBOTH BEACH - Phyllis Joan Walls of Rehoboth Beach died Friday, March 21, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 78.
Mrs. Walls was born in Spalding, Lince County, England, daughter of the late Ernest Dalton and Maude Staff Dalton.
She was a war bride of World War II and arrived in the United States in April of 1946.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eric and Roy Dalton, both of England.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Hampton Walls, USAR-ret.; two sons, Brian D. Walls of Glen Burnie, Md., and John Hampton Walls of Wyoming; three daughters, Donna Bobzin of Hockessin, Diane Jiles of Atlanta and Vikki Walls of Harrisburg, Pa.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services and burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Home of the Brave, Rt. 1, Box 149, Milford, DE 19963.

Mary (Connie) Vitulli Willett, 94
FRANKLIN SQUARE, N.Y. - Mary (Connie) Vitulli Willett of Franklin Square, formerly of Portsville, Delmar and Lewes, Del. and Satsuma, Fla. died of heart failure and lung Fibrosis Wednesday, March 12, 2003. She was 94.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Vitulli, in 1971 and her second husband, Ovide Willett in 1994.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and June Ruggiero of Laurel, Del.; a daughter and son-in-law, Corinne and Ralph Lehman of New York; a stepdaughter and her husband, Pat Willett and Tom Frey of Dagsboro, Del.; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; nine nieces; eight nephews; 13 great-nieces; and ten great-nephews.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Seaford. No flowers please.
