Gail Elizabeth Evans, 53
LAKE WORTH, Fla. - Gail Elizabeth Evans of Lake Worth died peacefully Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in Kindred Hospital South Florida, Ft. Lauderdale. She was 53.
Ms. Evans was the daughter of the late Joe and Becky Evans.
She was a graduate of the University of Delaware. She played on the women's first intercollegiate basketball team at Delaware.
Ms. Evans taught middle school physical education in Gurnee, Ill. from 1973 to 1985.
A disease of the spinal cord afflicted her in 1977, however, nothing would stop "Two Tracs". Gail got involved in wheelchair sports in the Chicago area. After moving to Florida in 1987, she continued her participation in sports by swimming and playing golf. She faced all the challenges of life with courage and independence. She was admired and loved by all who met her. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and relatives from across the country and in Canada.
She is survived by a brother, Joe Evans; a niece, Kim VanBuskirk; her husband, Andy; a daughter, Delaney; and a nephew, Kevin Evans all of Bridgeville, Del.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery after the services.
A memorial service will be Sunday Feb. 16, 2003 on Lake Worth Beach in Florida. Please call friends for details.

Cora Ellen Smith Hawkins, 95
ROCK HALL, Md. - Cora Ellen Smith Hawkins of Rock Hall died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, in Magnolia Nursing Center, Chestertown. She was 95.
Mrs. Hawkins was born in Rock Hall, daughter of the late Henry and Hilda Butler Smith.
She attended school in Kent County.
She was employed as a housekeeper.
Mrs. Hawkins was a member of the Aaron Chapel United Methodist Church, Rock Hall. She served on the church usher board for many years. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Hawkins; six brothers; and five sisters.
She is survived by two godchildren, Annette Turner of Butlertown and William Jones Jr. of Texas.
Services will be 1 p.m. today in Aaron Chapel United Church, Rock Hall, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. Freeman will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Elizabeth Louise Lohr, 64
ROCK HALL, Md. - Elizabeth Louise Lohr of Rock Hall died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in her home. She was 64.
Mrs. Lohr was born Dec. 24, 1938, Rock Hall, daughter of the late Ellsworth "Dick" and Louise Edwards.
She was a graduate of Rock Hall High School.
She worked at Rite Aid for 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Bob, in 1999; a daughter, Melody, in 1986; a sister, Ruth Edwards; and a stepbrother, Leon Edwards.
She is survived by two grandchildren whom she and her husband raised, Robert and Katie Blasckston, at home; three daughters, Cathy Daggett of Betterton, Shirley "Beetle" Nicholson of Sandy Bottom and Donna Austin of Rock Hall; a son, Robert of Phoenixville, Pa.; and seven additional grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Raum Chapel, Skinners Neck, Rock Hall.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Kent, Sandy Bottom, Chestertown.

Anne Elizabeth Elliott Moser, 73
SALISBURY, Md. - Anne Elizabeth Elliott Moser of Salisbury died Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, in Wicomico Nursing Home, Salisbury. She was 73.
Mrs. Moser was born June 22, 1929, in Delmar, Del., daughter of Elizabeth G. Potts of Salisbury and the late Edwin Franklin Elliott
She graduated from Wicomico High School in 1946.
Mrs. Moser retired from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Department of Education after 30 years of service. She was also a highly respected and loved Mary Kay beauty consultant for 20 years, where she held the honor of being Queen of Sales for her unit for 19 years.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, LaMar R. Moser; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Barbara and C. Edward Palmer of Dover, Del. and Patricia House of Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepdaughter, Brenda Smith of Laurel, Del.; a stepson, Jerry Moser of Tocca, Ga.; two granddaughters, Brandy Smith and Ashleigh Smith, both of Salisbury; a great-grandson, Gabriel Rincon of Salisbury; two nieces, Patti Lynn Pettis of Morehead City, N.C. and Nancy Anne Tallon of Smyrna, Del.; a nephew, Neal Palmer of Tampa, Fla.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bethesda United Methodist Church, Salisbury.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes, Financial Management Branch, Building 31, Room 8A34, 31 Center Drive, MSC 2540, Bethesda, Md. 20892-2540.

Clara B. Schaefer, 91
LINCOLN - Clara B. Schaefer of Lincoln died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in the Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 91.
Mrs. Schaefer was born July 22, 1911, in Camden, N.J., daughter of the late Alexander Still Jr. and Louisa Miller.
She retired in 1975 after 20 years as a seamstress at Jo-Dan Inc. clothing factory.
Mrs. Schaefer was a member of AARP as well as Trinity United Methodist Church in Frederica.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Henry A. Schaefer, in 1997; and a sister, Violet Mae Pickles, in 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Dennis of Dover and William Dennis Jr. of Hagerstown, Md.; a brother, Edward L. Wiltsey of Elsmere; five grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for both Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Trinity United Methodist Church, Frederica.

Arthur Turner Soule Jr., 86
CHESTERTOWN, Md. -Arthur Turner Soule Jr. of Heron Point, Chestertown, formerly of Sands Point, N.Y., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in his home. He was 86.
Mr. Soule was a graduate of Tabor Academy and Dartmouth College and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant during World War II.
Mr. Soule retired from a career in the oil business in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Beach; two children, Stephen Hutton Soule and Margaret Turner Soule; three grandchildren, Michael Soule, Andrew Soule and Christopher Soule; two sisters, Molly Mahony and Frances Hansel; a brother, Theodore Soule; two stepchildren, Wendell Coslett and Dr. J. Meredith Miller; and seven step-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Hall, Heron Point, Chestertown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Dartmouth College, Class of 1938, Hanover, NH 03755.

Benjamin F. 'Jake' Twilley Sr., 82
HARTLY - Benjamin F. "Jake" Twilley Sr. of Hartly died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, in his home surrounded by his family. He was 82.
Mr. Twilley was born April 13, 1920, in Seaford, son of the late Bailey and Lyda (Downes) Twilley.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He worked at Bolan Motors for many years and retired from IUOE Local 542 of Philadelphia.
Mr. Twilley was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, farming, fishing and crabbing. He built and raced stock cars and go-carts and in his later years, he loved to work on small engines in his shop.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, William "Bill" and Richard Twilley; and a sister, Madaline Ivory.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Jane Twilley of Hartly; three sons and two daughters-in-law, W. David Twilley, Paul and Josephine Twilley and Benjamin F. Jr. and Michele Twilley, all of Hartly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and John Kohout and Sally and Chuck Wojcieszyn, all of Hartly; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Ross Twilley of Magnolia and Dorothy Twilley of Bear; a cousin, Margie Massey of Salisbury, Md.; 11 grandchildren, Christina Mitchell, Kelly Lloyd, Stacy Sylvester, Jason Kohout, Julie Dove, Matthew Angrisani, Erin Wojcieszyn, Holly Wojcieszyn, Charles "Buck" Dougherty, Ryan Dougherty, and Vance Dougherty; and five great-grandchildren.
Remembrance services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in the Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.

Hazel May Taylor, 85
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Hazel May Taylor of Chestertown died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Magnolia Hall Nursing Home, Chestertown. She was 85.
Mrs. Taylor was born Sept. 20, 1915, in Howard County, the daughter of the late Norman and Sara V. Evily Hatfield. Her aunt and uncle, Thomas and Jesse Everly raised her.
During World War II she worked in the defense industry with Koppers in Baltimore.
Mrs. Taylor and her family moved to Rock Hall in the late 1930s, and she worked at the Rock Hall Shirt Factory.
She loved flowers and cats.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Eugene Taylor, in October 1986; and a son, William Ronald Taylor, in 1955.
She is survived by a son, Thomas Taylor of Chestertown; and a grandson, Gregory Trent Taylor.
In accordance with Mrs. Taylor's wishes, she was cremated.

EASTON, Md. - Bertha Mae Thomas of Easton died Friday, April 13, 2001, in Memorial Hospital, Easton. She was 72.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Church of God in Christ on Smith Street in Federalsburg, where friends may tall two hours prior to service.

Brittany Nichol White, 15
SALISBURY, Md. - Brittany Nichol White of Salisbury died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, in Union Hospital in Elkton. She was 15.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Salisbury.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrews U.M. Church in Upper Hill.
Burial will be in Centennial Cemetery in Upper Fairmont.

B. Frank Abbott, 89
MILFORD - B. Frank Abbott died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Milford Center Nursing Home. He was 89.
Mr. Abbott was self-employed in the Bridgeville area, most recently in Heal Estate ventures and as president of Abbott & Abbott Construction Inc.
He was an avid bird hunter.
Mr. Abbott was a member of Gethsemane Masonic Lodge 28 A.F.A.M.
He was preceded by his wife, Irene Gladys Abbott, in 2002; and a son, Howard Wayne Abbott, in 2001.
He is survived by two granddaughters, Debbie Jester of Lincoln and Heather Baer of Bridgeville; a sister, Clara R. Jones of Bridgeville; four great-grandchildren, Daniel and Matthew Baer and Amber and Ashley Jester; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour earlier, with Masonic Services beginning at 1:45 p.m.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades.

Barbara Lee Cassidy, 35
DOVER - Barbara Lee Cassidy of Dover died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 35.
Ms. Cassidy was born in Chester, Pa., daughter of Mary Jane Tarbutton Cassidy and the late Benedict Carry. She had lived in Dover for the last 10 years.
She graduated from Ridley, Pa., High School.
She worked as a shift leader for Value City department store in Wilmington for the last three years.
She enjoyed painting, reading and poetry.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Benedict Anderson at home; two daughters, Kimberly Stackhouse and Deziare Fee, both at home; three brothers, Frank Thompson of Aston, Pa., Ronald Thompson of Glen Mills, Pa., and Melvin Thompson of Millsboro; and three sisters, Rebecca Anders of Felton, Jane Cassidy of Nottingham, Pa., and Peggy Coombes of Dover.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Ward Funeral Home, 1459 Market St., Linwood, Pa., where friends may call two hours earlier.
Memorial services will be 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Christian Life Center, Dover.

William A. 'Bill' Creshine, 74
LONG NECK - William A. "Bill" Creshine of Long Neck, formerly of Lima, Pa., died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 74.
Mr. Creshine was born in Chester, Pa., son of the late John and Helen Cassler Creshine.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines as a U.S. Army Ranger.
Mr. Creshine was a retired employee of Scott Paper Co. with 34 years of service.
He was a devoted family man who loved his children and enjoyed his grandchildren and his faithful friend, Toy Poodle "Buddy."
Mr. Creshine was a 32nd-degree Mason and member of Lucius H. Scott Lodge 236 of Chester, a member of the Nur Temple Shrine and Royal Arch Chapter 250, American Legion Post 28 of Riverdale-Oak Orchard and St. George's Church in Clarksville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Curtis and Blanche Saylor; and three brothers, John Creshine, Oliver Creshine and Frank Creshine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Helen M. Creshine; two sons, William Creshine of Boothwyn, Pa., and Douglas Creshine of Peach Bottom, Pa.; a daughter, Patty Ladd of West Chester, Pa., two stepsons, William Dennin and Edward Dennin, both of West Chester; a brother, James Wessner of Ocola, Fla.; two sisters, Helen Acri of Chester and Mildred Hamilton of Newark; and his grandchildren, Edward Dennin and Jake Dennin, both of West Chester, Billy John Creshine of Trainer, Pa., and Doreen Creshine and Heather Creshine, both of Boothwyn.

Leslie Atlas Hood, 67
MILFORD - Leslie Atlas Hood of Milford died after a short illness Thursday, April 10, 2003. He was 67.
Mr. Hood was born Oct. 12, 1935, son of the late Howard and Gladys Hood.
He was employed at Perdue Farms in Milford until his health began to fail.
Mr. Hood was an easygoing person.
He is survived by his wife, Ella Spady Hood of Milford; five sons, Elijah Collins, Leslie Spady and Atlas Spady, all of Dover, and Atlas Payne of Milton and Kevin Payne of Lincoln; four daughters, Christine Spady of Greenwood, Lestine Spady of Dover, Marcella Spady of New Castle and Olivia Guy Hood of Wilmington; two sisters, Kathryn Showell of Seaford and Cora Miller of Rehoboth Beach; three brothers, Courtland and Thomas Hood of Lincoln and George Arnold of Seaford; three brothers-in-law, Lonnie Horsey of Lincoln, Martin Miller of Rehoboth Beach and Lawrence Spady of Milford; four sisters-in-law, Mary Tucker of Dover, Grace Floyd of New Jersey, Edith Hood of Seaford and Sheila Hood of Lincoln; an aunt, Marie Taylor of Millsboro; three grandchildren, Christopher Spady and Candice and Faith Spady; his companion, Lillie Mae Marshall of Milford; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Jesus Love Temple Church, 106 Walnut St., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Old Hickory, Slaughter Neck.

Keith E. Kandle, 49
MIDDLETOWN - Keith E. Kandle of Middletown died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. He was 49.
Mr. Kandle was a graduate of Delcastle High School.
He worked as a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning mechanic.
Mr. Kandle enjoyed motorcycles and racecars, and he lived by the motto "Live hard, drive fast, die young." He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and good nature.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; a daughter, Theresa Kandle, and a son, Richard Kandle, both of the family home; a sister, Mary P. Ingram of Middletown; an aunt, Martha Herring of New Castle; four cousins with whom he was raised, Thomas Herring, Eric Herring, Bryan Herring and Cam Herring; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be noon Saturday in Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.

Thomas F. McLaughlin Jr., 82
LONG NECK - Thomas F. McLaughlin Jr. of Long Neck, formerly of Bristol, Pa., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. McLaughlin was born in Plymouth, Pa., son of the late Thomas F. Sr. and Ellen Driscoll McLaughlin.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he was involved with the Battle of New Guinea.
He was an operating engineer with Local 542 in Norristown, Pa., working for the Warner Co. in Morrisville, Pa., for 25 years, retiring in 1976.
Mr. McLaughlin was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro, and was a life member of VFW Post 5542 in Bristol.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George McLaughlin, Eugene McLaughlin and John McLaughlin.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gwendolyn Moore McLaughlin; three sons, Thomas F. McLaughlin III of Long Neck, Lawrence E. McLaughlin of Lewes and Joseph D. McLaughlin of Levittown, Pa.; a daughter, Eileen M. McLaughlin of Penndel, Pa.; five sisters, Ellen Neubert, Bernice Schwartz, Mary Mangold, Peggy Halter and Patricia McLaughlin; five grandchildren, Todd Sczucki, Larry McLaughlin, Mandy McLaughlin, Kristin McLaughlin and Joe McLaughlin; and a great-grandson, Kolin Smith.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mother Mary of Peace Catholic Church, Del. 24 and Del. 5, east of Millsboro.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriot's Way, Millsboro.
