Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Eagles Nest Fellowship Church, Del. 1, Milton.
Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, near Milton.

Larry L. 'Donnie' Moss, 57
HARRINGTON - Larry L. "Donnie" Moss of Harrington died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in his home surrounded by his family. He was 57.
Mr. Moss was born in Lafeyette, Ala., son of Doris Moss of Federalsburg, Md., and the late John P. Moss.
He was a carpenter with Local Union 626 of Wilmington for the past 25 years.
He enjoyed hunting and liked to hunt deer and rabbit. When he was not hunting, he also enjoyed fishing and crabbing. In the summertime, Mr. Moss enjoyed working in his garden and grew enough vegetables to feed his family and friends. Cars were also a favorite of Mr. Moss, and he liked to work and tinker on them. Mr. Moss liked to play the slots occasionally as well. His family and friends will remember him as a good loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved to spoil his grandchildren.
Mr. Moss attended Seaford Church of God.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ida Pearl Moss of Harrington; a son, Jimmy "Ladon" Moss of Dover; three daughters, June Foster of Trappe, Md., Carol Hawkins and Candace Moss, both of Felton; two brothers, John "David" Moss of Federalsburg and Pursey Moss of Ocoee, Fla.; a sister, Peggy Brooks of Hurlock; and nine grandchildren, Justin and Heather Harding, Holly and Johnny Foster, Michael and Marissa Hawkins, Haley Bates and Parker and Keaton Moss.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Seaford Church of God of Prophecy, U.S. 13A, Seaford. The Rev. Brent Smith of Seaford Church of God will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Jerome Moss, Danny Moss, Johnny Moss, John Foster, Mike Hawkins and Justin Harding.
Burial will be in East New Market Cemetery, East New Market, Md.

Melvin T. Phippin Sr., 80
LAUREL - Melvin T. Phippin Sr. of Laurel died surrounded by his family after a long illness Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 80.
Mr. Phippin was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Highbanks, Salisbury, Md., son of the late Elijah and Eva Phippin.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in India with the Army Air Corps, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.
Upon returning, Mr. Phippin worked at Martin Schwaartz/Wayne Pump/Dresser Industries for 34 years, working in the pump and meter testing and tool grinding departments, where he made several innovative suggestions that helped improve their product. He retired in 1987.
He enjoyed carpentry and music and was dedicated to his church and its congregation.
Mr. Phippin was a member of the board of Pilgrim Holiness Church, where he taught Sunday school and was its superintendent for many years. Later, he was a member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church in Salisbury, where he also sat on the board and taught Sunday school. Until his death, he was attending God's Missionary Church in Delmar.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Vaughn, Francis, and Richard; and a sister, MarNeil.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Sterling Phippin; five children and their spouses, Marylin Pish of Dale City, Va., Melvin and Pattie Phippin of Dorchester, Mass., Charles and Joy Phippin of Salisbury; Brent and Carol Phippin of Simpsonville, S.C., and Teresa and Rick Mumford of Laurel; a sister, Mrs. Hilda Smith of Salisbury; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in God's Missionary Church, where friends may call from 12:30 to 1 p.m. The Rev. Eric Watts, assisted by the Rev. Rick Mumford, the Rev. Paul Merritt and the Rev. Greg Lisniewski, will officiate.

Betty Jane West, 73
LAUREL - Betty Jane West of Laurel died of an aneurysm Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. She was 73.
Mrs. West was born in Laurel, daughter of the late George D. West and Ola Smith West.
She was a member of C.H. Foggie A.M.E. Zion Church in Bridgeville, where she served as a missionary, stewardess and mother of the church. She also was a member of the Blind Association of Delaware.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Roscoe West of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Lee and Eddie Snead of Laurel; a sister, Irene Horsey of Laurel; four grandchildren and their spouses, Veronica Oney and the Rev. Dr. Wilford Oney of Seaford, Felicia Matthews and Darryl of Laurel, Tammy Snead of Laurel and Kelvin Snead of Seaford; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in C.H. Foggie A.M.E. Zion Church, Federalsburg Road, Bridgeville.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the church, where friends may also call one hour earlier. The Rev. Dr. Wilford Oney will officiate.
Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery, West Road, Salisbury.

Helen W. Baker, 74
DOVER - Helen W. Baker of Dover died of natural causes Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover. She was 74.
Mrs. Baker was born in 1928 in Louisville, Ky., daughter of the late Emil Brugge and Anna Thias Brugge.
Her family moved to Lewes when she was 14.
Mrs. Baker received a degree in business from Goldey-Beacom College.
She loved gardening, crafts of all kinds including crocheting, knitting and jigsaw puzzles.
Mrs. Baker was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lewes, the National Honor Society and the local antique-doll club. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and of the Junior Board of Kent General Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul B. Baker; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul B. Baker Jr. and Jo Ann Baker, and James B. Baker, all of Dover, and Ralph A. and Karen L. Baker of Wyoming; two sisters, Dorothy Loewenthal of Marietta, Ga., and Martha Gregg of Wilmington; four grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934; or to a charity of one's choice.

Dorothy Virginia 'Dora' Blizzard, 92
CORDOVA, Md. - Dorothy Virginia "Dora" Blizzard of Cordova died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law, James and Joyce Blizzard of Cordova. She was 92.
Mrs. Blizzard was born June 4, 1910, in Lewistown, daughter of the late Henry and Jennie V. Baynard Bridge.
She married Howard M. Blizzard, a native of New Castle, Del., who had later lived in Millsboro, Del., in October 1937. She was a homemaker and was widely recognized for her homemade biscuits.
She loved to crochet, sew, sing and play cards, and enjoyed her family and friends.
Mrs. Blizzard attended the Fairview Church of the Brethren in Cordova.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 13, 1991; three brothers, Henry Bridge, Daniel Bridge and Robert Bridge; two sisters, Margaret Brown and Susie Bridge Harrison; and two great-grandsons.
She is survived by four children and their respective spouses, James E. and Joyce Blizzard, William Y. and Linda Blizzard, Regenia L. and Harold Hutchison and Howard A. and Barbara Blizzard, all of Cordova; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Fairview Church of the Brethren in Cordova, where friends also may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be at the Fairview Church Cemetery.

Edward Thomas 'Bubba' Burton, 57
REHOBOTH BEACH - Edward Thomas "Bubba" Burton of Rehoboth Beach died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 57.
Mr. Burton was born April 1, 1945, son of the late Horace and Dorothy Burton.
He was retired form Suburban Propane after 27 years of service.
Mr. Burton was a life member of 37 years of the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Co. Inc., and later, became a Delaware State Fire Policeman. He also was a devoted member of the Midway Assembly of God Church, where he enjoyed volunteering his time and serving on the board of directors
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Joyce A. Burton; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Dannie Card of Harbeson; a son and daughter-in-law, Bryon T. and Jill Burton of Rehoboth Beach; a dog, Pee Wee; a bird, Simon; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Services with full fireman's honors will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Conley's Chapel Cemetery, near Lewes.

Burton Howard Messick, 82
MILFORD - Burton Howard Messick of Milford died of natural causes Sunday, April 29, 2001, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. Messick served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II as battalion communications chief in the Pacific with the 7th Division.
He was superintendent of utilities for the city of Milford. He became self-employed as an electrical contractor, with the business name of "Burt's Electric," for 10 years, after which he was employed as an electrician with Burris Food Distributors and Steiner and Co. After retiring, he spent eight years as a volunteer in mission with Red Bird Missionary Conference in Kentucky. He retired from there in 1992 and returned to Milford.
Mr. Messick was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Post 6483 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States and a member of Carlisle Volunteer Fire Co., Milford.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Audrey Messick; three daughters, Marjorie Churchill of Milford, Janice E. Winkler of Felton and Betty Ann Wells of Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepdaughter, Donna Lewis of Harrington; a stepson, John Schreck of Rhode Island; a brother, Edgar Messick of Newark; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Jennifer Erin Muncy, 21
HOUSTON - Jennifer Erin Muncy of Houston died Friday, April 27, 2001, as a result of a head-on car accident on Del. 36 near Staytonville. She was 21.
Ms. Muncy was born Jan. 11, 1980, the daughter of Pastor Robert and Linda Muncy of The House of Praise For All People, International Ministries.
She was a third-year student at the University of Delaware, majoring in elementary education. Her desire was to work with special-needs children. She had been graced with a heart for children and they responded tremendously to her love and care.
Ms. Muncy was engaged to be married next August after graduation to Richard Griffith of Bridgeville. Richard had been the only love of her life from age 12 and they were looking forward to starting their home together. They are both active members of The House of Praise for All People.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Thomas Muncy.
In addition to her parents and fiancé, she is survived by a younger sister, Heather; a younger brother, Joshua; her grandmothers, Clara Wolford and Elaine Muncy; two aunts and uncles, Michael and Janet Sockriter and Diane and Raymond Marvel; her cousins, Christopher and Sara; her great aunt, Virginia Cole; her great uncle, Junior Kunsman; and her cousins, Lewis and Elma Gray, and their children, David Gray and Dayna Millman.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Eagle's Nest Fellowship Church, at the intersection of Del. 1 and Del. 16.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, where friends may also call one hour prior to service.
Memorial contributions may be made to The House of Praise For All People, 10280 Shawnee Road, Greenwood, DE 19950, for an Educational Scholarship Fund in the Memory of Jennifer Muncy.

Helen May Murphy, 91
DOVER - Helen May Murphy of Dover died Sunday, April 29, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 91.
Mrs. Murphy was born Aug. 5, 1909, in Ridgely, Md., the daughter of the late Fred and Minnie Clark Seward,
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Murphy was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayward Murphy, in January 1996.
She is survived by a son, Charles Hayward Murphy of Dover; two daughters, Helen "Jean" Singleton of Dover and Louise Marker of Camden; a brother, Frederick Seward of Dover; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St. in Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Hilda Clinton Greene Perkins, 85
MILLINGTON, Md. - Hilda Clinton Greene Perkins of Millington died Friday, April 27, 2001, in Heron Point, Chestertown. She was 85.
Mrs. Perkins was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Ireland, the daughter of the late Rev. James and Louisa (Daisy) Corr Clinton. At age 10 she came to the United States, and in Philadelphia she studied at Moore Institute of Art. In 1941 she married her first husband, Willard Greene, and moved to Baltimore. There she sang with the Baltimore Symphony Chorus and was a soprano soloist for various churches.
She sang and provided scenic designs for the Savoyards of Lovely Lane. She also taught and studied at the Maryland Institute. In the mid 1960s she opened the Greene Reporting Agency in Towson, where she was a court reporter.
In 1974 she married her second husband, Charles L. Perkins. They moved to the Millington area in 1980, where she became involved with the arts.
She was a member and past president of the Chestertown Arts League, a member of the Dover Art League, Easton's Academy of the Arts, Working Artist Forum, Kent Island Federation of the Arts and Rehoboth Art League. She was also an active member of the Chesapeake College Arts Advisory Committee. She had more than 28 one-woman exhibits, including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Peale Museum and Turner Gallery. Her paintings have won many awards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first in 1956, her second husband in 1990, three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her son, Kevin Willard Greene of Salisbury; her daughter and son-in-law, Noreen and David Downs of Madison, N.H.; and a very special friend, Michael Koleda of Heron Point.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2001, at the Chestertown Presbyterian Church in Chestertown. The Rev. Sara Holben will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Holly Foundation, P.O. Box 1489, Salisbury, MD 21802.

Amani Myricka-Teresa Sampson, newborn
MILLSBORO - Amani Myricka-Teresa Sampson of Millsboro was born and died on Friday, April 27, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was a newborn.
She is survived by her parents, Hermione Strand and Myricka Sampson of Millsboro; her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Shan Fields of Salisbury; her maternal great-grandparents, Raymond and Claretta Zweigle of Ocean View; and her paternal grandparents, Layfield and Gladys Sampson of Millsboro.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today in St. Matthews First Baptist Church Cemetery, Laurel.

Eddie R. Scotton, 50
BEAR - Eddie R. Scotton of Bear died unexpectedly Sunday, April 29, 2001, in his home. He was 50.
Mr. Scotton was born Oct. 31, 1950, in London, Ky., the son of the late William T. Scotton Sr. and Bettye Barnes Scotton.
He graduated from Lewes High School in 1968 and attended Delaware Technical and Community College. After high school, he followed his father into the Coast Guard, and taught fire-fighting while stationed in Cape May, N.J.
Mr. Scotton was employed as a meatcutter by A&P and Super Fresh food markets for 25 years, first at various locations in Delaware and for the last several years at the Super Fresh Market in Pennsville, N.J.
His interests included cooking, gardening and entertaining both family and friends, all of whom enjoyed his many specialties.
Mr. Scotton was a member of the Amalgamated Meatcutters Union and was vice president of Kingston Acres Civic Association.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Darlene K. Rust; two sons, James Andrew Scotton and Jonathan Alexander Scotton, at home; a daughter, Janel Claire Scotton of Delray Beach, Fla.; a sister, Judy Campbell of Raphine, Va.; a brother, William T. Scotton Jr. of Raphine; a niece; and a number of nephews, aunts and uncles.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Service, 416 Federal St. in Milton, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Odds Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Cmdr. William W. Shoaf, USNR (retired), 89
DOVER - Cmdr. William W. Shoaf, USNR (retired), of Dover, and formerly of Salisbury, N.C., died of congestive heart failure Monday, April 23, 2001, in Green Valley Pavilion, Smyrna. He was 89.
Cmdr. Shoaf was the son of the late Thomas Jesse Shoaf and Bessie Monroe Shoaf of Salisbury, N.C. and a graduate of Boyden High School, where he was student body president in 1928. He also graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School and attended George Washington University.
He had a long and distinguished career as a naval officer, business executive and government official. He was assigned to the Panama Canal Zone immediately prior to World War II, as part of the First World War II contingent sent overseas. Later war duty included service in Washington, D.C., on the staff of the chief of naval operations. During his career, Cmdr. Shoaf served on the USS Salinas, the USS Barry and briefly as a reservist during the Bay of Pigs Operation on the USS Arcadia. He was most notably proud of his naval service, rising from a seaman apprentice after enlisting underage to obtaining his commission as an ensign, and finishing World War II as a full commander. Upon leaving active duty at the end of World War II, he continued in his reserve status, and served as commander of a Naval Reserve Unit composed of other civilian executives in Washington, D.C., where he lived and worked for more than 33 years.
As a civilian, Cmdr. Shoaf held numerous executive positions, which included the U.S. Department of Commerce, Overseas Service Corp., Stowe Mills, Hoover Co., Bulova Watch Co., RCA, his own firm, Data Analyses Corp., and finally once again the Department of Commerce, retiring there as director, business services, and Analysis Division, Office of Textiles in 1974.
He and his wife moved to Dover in 1975, making their home in the Hamlet. He shared his wife's penchant for genealogy and could often be found assisting her in these efforts during his retirement, as well as continuing to travel whenever they could.
Cmdr. Shoaf was a former member of the Union League Club of Philadelphia and the Army Navy Club of Washington, D.C.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Blanche Vandenburg, on Aug. 11, 1996.
He is survived by a son, William W. Shoaf Jr., and his wife, Donna, of Cherry Hill, N.J.; and two granddaughters, Laura and Julietta, both of Cherry Hill.
Graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Bridgeville Cemetery, Bridgeville.

Rosemary M. Strail, 44
MILFORD - Rosemary M. Strail of Milford died Sunday, April 29, 2001, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 44.
Mrs. Strail was born July 6, 1956, in Wilmington, the daughter of Clifford Miller of San Pedro, Calif. and the late Joan Simpson Miller.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Strail was a member of House of Praise for all People, formerly known as Williamsville Christian Fellowship. She liked to lead the drama team at church.
In addition to her father, she is survived by her husband, David G. Strail Sr.; eight children, Chris Turner of Lincoln, Edgar Lewis of Milford, Brandi Lewis and Melissa Lewis, both of Selbyville, and Angel Kicklighter, Johnnie Kicklighter, David Strail Jr. and Wendy Strail, all of Milford; a brother, Tim Turner of Frederica; and three grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at House of Praise for all People in Staytonville.
