Esther Johanna Nigg
Esther Johanna Nigg of Old Town passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006 at the Tri County Hospice Care Center in Chiefland. She was 79 years old.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon Bridges (Johnny) of Old Town, Debbie Porter of Ocala, FL and Toni Marie McAlee; son, Roger Nigg of Baldwin, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her son, Stevie Nigg.
Arrangements have been placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, US Hwy 19, Cross City, FL, (352) 498-5400.

Mary Jo Bell
Mrs. Mary Jo Bell of Cross City passed away Saturday, January 14, 2005 at the Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties after a long illness. She was 61. Mrs. Bell worked for the Sun Bank for 18 years in Orlando, Florida retiring as a vice president. She then moved to Englewood, Florida where she worked as office manager of her husbands’ construction business. Originally from this area, she moved back in 2000. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Bell of Cross City; son, Kevin Bell of Englewood, FL; brothers, Harry Wayne Mathis of Cross City and Andrew Elton Mathis of Englewood, FL and niece, Andria Lee Mathis of Englewood, FL.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 16, 2006 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Cross City with Rev. Mike Brown and Rev. Billy Robson officiating. Burial followed at Butler Cemetery, Horseshoe Beach, Florida. A visitation was held Sunday, January 15, 2006 between the hours of 5 and 7 pm at the Funeral Home.
Arrangements have been placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, Cross City, Florida 352-498-5400.

Charlie Christopher Robinson III
Charlie Christopher “Bubba” Robinson III, age 26, passed away November 12, 2005 at Shands UF in Gainesville, Fl. He was a student at Lake City Community College.
Survivors include his mother, Bessie Walker of Cross City, FL; father, Charlie C. Robinson Jr. of Mississippi; 4 sisters, Elizabeth Robinson, Samantha Robinson, Tekesta Robinson and Shekena Robinson all of Cross City, FL; brother, Demarcus Paige of Cross City, FL and grandfather, Wiley Walker Sr. of Chiefland, FL
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Royal Temple in Cross City, FL with Minister Elder Peterson delivering the message. Burial will take place at Eugene Memorial Cemetery in Cross City, FL
Arrangements are under the direction of Carnegie Funeral Home, 217 SE 4th Avenue, Chiefland, FL 32644.

Mary Inez Quiette
Mrs. Mary Inez Quiette of Cross City passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Cross City Rehab. She was 85 years old and of Baptist faith. Mrs. Quiette lived her lifetime in Dixie and Gilchrist County. She was a mother and homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Jerlene Osteen of Cross City; 4 grandchildren, devoted grandson, Tony Osteen (Martha) of Cross City, Billy Osteen (Sandy) of Cross City, Mary Ellen “Muff” Sondgerath (Tim) of Tarpon Springs and Pam “Katie” Faustino of Tampa; brother, Joe Herring of Webster; 12 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and 3 great-great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, November 11, 2005 at 2 PM at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Robson officiating. Burial followed at the Rock Sink Baptist Church Cemetery in Old Town. A visitation was held Thursday evening, November 10 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home.
Arrangements were placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home of Cross City, Florida. 352-498-5400.

Joyce Peacock Hall
Mrs. Joyce E. Hall of Davenport, FL passed away of heart failure on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 in Lakeland, FL. She retired from Watson Clinic and also worked for Dr. Thomas in Cross City. She was born April 2, 1936 in Eagle Lake “Polk County”. Mrs. Hall attended First Baptist Church in Davenport, FL and lived in Old Town for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sgt. James Peacock, and son Randall J. Peacock.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her husband, Hugeh M. Hall; son, Gary Peacock; daughter, Jane Peacock Neeson from Bartow; brothers, Ray Lewis of Haines City, Lynn Lewis, Rodney Lewis, Lamar Lewis, Marc Lewis all of Winterhaven, FL; Donald Lewis of North Carolina and Conley Lewis of St. Pete; sister, Pat Gatlin of Ft. Meyers and Sherron Hahn of KY; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Ron Cason
Bro. Ron Cason, age 68, passed away November 10, 2005 at the VA Medical Center. Mr. Cason was a lifelong resident of Chiefland, Florida. He served the last 25 years as Pastor of Long Pond Baptist Church in Chiefland. Bro. Ron loved Southern Gospel music. He operated WTBH radio since it started in 1986. He enjoyed his radio, coached Babe Ruth Baseball, coached the first baseball team at Creekside Christian School in Otter Creek, enjoyed reading and politics. His family was his pride. He was a graduate of Chiefland High School, Liberty University and Paniel Baptist Seminary. Mr. Cason also served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960.
Survivors include wife, Elizabeth Cason; daughters, Susan (Mike) Hallman and Rhonda (Chuck) Cook; son, Kevin Cason; mother, Beatrice Cason; brother-in-law, Bud Neil all of Chiefland, FL; grandsons, Kyle Cook of Chiefland, Dustin Cason, Lang Cason and Levi Cason all of Trenton, FL; granddaughter, Kasidy Cook of Chiefland, FL; nieces, Sherry McElroy and Calla Neil; nephew, Joe Neil.
He was preceded in death by his father, Call Cason and his sister, Barbara Neil.
Services were held Wednesday, November 16 at 10:00 AM at the Long Pond Baptist Church. They will also be broadcasted on WTBH 91.5 FM. Visitation was held Tuesday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to WTBH Radio, PO Box 1730, Chiefland, Fl. 32644.
Arrangements are being handled by Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, Chiefland, Florida (352) 493-0050.

Jean Pelletier Burton
Mrs. Jean Pelletier Burton of Cross City, Florida passed away Sunday, January 22, 2006 at North Florida Medical Center at the age of 71. Born in Madawaka, Maine, Mrs. Burton moved to Cross City from Gainesville in 1960. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cross City and retired Physical Assistant.
She is survived by her husband, Carlis N. Burton of Cross City, FL; sons, Michael Dolan Burton of Ellaville, GA and Patric N. Burton of Chiefland, FL; sisters, Carol Pelletier and Rachel Pelletier, both of Columbia, MD, and Phyllis Pelletier Fosnaught of Gettysburg, PA; brothers, Kenneth Pelletier of Pratsville, AL, Normand “Jack” Pelletier of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Dean Pelletier of Madawaska, MA; two grandchildren, Adam Burton and Tristin Burton.
Services were held Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 4:00 PM at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Cross City, with Father Michael Pendergraft officiating.
