Eddie Jene Bilbrey
Mr. Eddie Jene Bilbrey passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his residence in Old Town, Florida. He was 60 years of age. Mr. Bilbrey owned and operated his own pump business. He moved to Old Town in 1987 from Winter Garden, Florida.
Mr. Bilbrey is survived by his wife, Mary Bilbrey of Old Town, FL; son, Brian Bilbrey of Tampa, FL and Travis (Gloria) Wilkerson of Gainesville, FL; daughter, Jennifer (Jamie) Storey of Old Town, FL; brothers Paul Bilbrey, and Teddy Bilbrey, all of Monterey, TN; sisters Phyllis Vaughn, Merita Niel, Arlene Gillespe, and Charlene Johnson, all of Monterey, TN. He has 4 grandchildren Jessica Storey, Jay Storey, Allie Wilkerson and MacKenzie Wilkerson.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 11:00 am at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Royce Hanshew. Burial followed at the Old Town Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday, June 4, 2004 between the hours of 6:00-8:00 pm.
Arrangements were under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home, US Hwy 19, Cross City, FL, 352-498-5400.

Samuel Hubert Gay
Mr. Samuel Hubert Gay passed away on Monday, June 7, 2004, at his residence in Old Town, FL. He was 80 years of age. Mr. Gay was born and raised in Trenton. He joined the Army in 1943; he received several commendations including a belated Silver
Star and Purple Heart from former President Ronald Reagan. After leaving the service,
he went into civil service as a fire fighter where he remained in various locations until his
retirement at the Naval Air Station in Albany, GA in 1974. He spent most of his
retirement years in the Daytona/Orlando area until 3 years ago when he and his wife of
53 years, Geraldean Hawks Gay, moved to Old Town. He was a Baptist and member of
the Disabled American Veterans and a member of National Federal Employee’s Union
(NARF).
Mr. Gay is survived by his wife, Gerry Gay of Old Town, FL; daughters, Marcia Forstren of Edgewater, FL, Robin Payne of Louisville, KY, Cheryl Hickman of Old Town, FL, and Pennie Cox of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Jocelyn Arnold of Perry, GA, and Jackqulin Hensley of Nickleville, VA. He has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Gay Kidd.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 11, 2004 at 3:00 pm at the Rock Sink Cemetery in Old Town, FL with Rev. Bobby Lindsey officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2004 between the hours of 6:00-8:00 pm.
Arrangements are under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, US Hwy 19, (352) 498-5400.

William Cecil Hall, Sr.
Mr. William Cecil Hall, Sr. passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Shands at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. He was 49 years of age. Mr. Hall moved to Steinhatchee, Fl from Tampa, Fl and worked with the Florida Division of Forestry for 22 years.
Mr. Hall is survived by his son, Cecil Hall, Jr. of Panama City, FL; daughter Dorry Roberts of Old Town, FL; special companion Debra Lynn Taylor of Fanning Springs, FL; parents Chuck and Margaret Hall of Tampa, FL; brothers Blue Hall, Tim Hall, Billy Hall, and Shane Hall, all of Tampa, FL and Johnny Hall of Okeechobee, FL; stepbrothers Punkie Blanton and Marty Blanton, both of Tampa, FL; sisters Rebecca Glosch of Knoxville, TN, Jean West of Crestview, FL and Mo Bain (Thomas) of Tampa, FL; stepsisters Carol Davis of Tampa, FL, Linda Kight of Plant City, FL and Debbie Lewis of Lithia Springs, FL. He has one granddaughter Kylee Elizabeth Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2004 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Jena, with Rev. Vaughn Farnell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 between the hours of 5:00-7:00 pm.
Arrangements are under the care of Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City, FL, US Hwy 19, (352) 498-5400.

Catherine Diane Hicks
Catherine Diane Hensley Hicks, 48, of Snapps Ferry Road, Afton, died Thursday evening, May 27, 2004 at Johnson City Medical Center due to injuries received Tuesday in an automobile accident.
She was a homemaker and mother.
Survivors include her husband Michael Hicks, Sr.; a son Donald W. Hensley, Jr. and two daughters and sons-in-law, Christina D. and Stephen Miller and Debra A. and Samuel Jones, all of Greene County; a stepson, Michael Hicks, Jr. of Washington County; her father and stepmother, Joe and Hiawatha Brown of Del Rio; her grandchildren, Eric Blackburn Jr., Michael Miller, Dylan Jones, and Noel Jones; three
sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda and Aubrey Corbin and Mary Stout, both of Cross City, FL and Norma Lesley of Elkhart, IN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Christine Brown of Greene County and Kenny and Laura Brown of North Manchester, IN; her former husband and friend, Donald W. Hensley, Sr. of Greene County; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Glenice Mae Brown, and a brother, Gary Brown.
The family received friends from 7-9 pm at Kiser Funeral Home on Saturday, May 29, 2004.
The funeral service was held at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, May 30, 2004 in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Buster Shelton officiated. Interment followed in Burnett’s Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert Frye, Randy Hensley, Timmy Hensley, Jeff Hicks, John Hensley, Robert Hensley and Jerry Lynn Buckner.

Ray Mitchell Branch
Ray Mitchell Branch of Old Town passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006 due to an auto accident. He was 53 years old. He was a member to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Louise Howdeschell; wife, Celestine Paul King; sons, Jeremiah Mitchell Branch, Jason Donald Branch, James Ray Branch, Joseph Aaron Branch and Johnathan Andrew Branch all of Old Town; daughters, Rachel Revell of Hatfield, AZ, Angelina Loughrey of Stockbridge, GA, Katrina LaVonne Branch of Old Town; brothers, Ivan Norman (Buddy) Branch of Old Town and Bart R. Lyons of Perry, FL; sisters, Deborah Branch of Cross City, Joyce Turner of Perry, Jeanette O’Quinn of Greenville, FL, Virginia Wood of Mayo, FL, Jessie Boehmler of Cross City, Wanda Branch of Old Town and Glenna Yheagle of Luraville, FL; and 11 grandchildren. His first wife, Donna LaVonne Branch, sons, John Paul Branch and Joshua Ezra and sister, Sharon C. Smith, precedes him in death.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 3:00 pm at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Schnorbus officiating. Burial will follow at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday, August 4, 2006 between the hours of 6 and 8 pm at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home.
Arrangements have been placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, US Hwy 19, Cross City, FL 352-498-5400.

Berta Mae Hill Johnson
Berta Mae Hill Johnson of Cross City passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at the Cross City Rehab & Health Care Center. She was 87 years old. Berta was born in Old Town, Florida and was a lifetime resident. She was of the Methodist faith.
She is survived by her sons, A. Bernard Johnson (Anne Marie) of East Lyme, Conn. and Ronald Johnson (Cathy) of Cross City; sister, Newanna Watts of Tampa, FL; brothers, Harold Hill of Perry, FL and Kenneth Hill of Valdosta, GA; 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 28, 2006 at 11AM at the First United Methodist Church in Cross City with Rev. Howard Grimmenga and Rev. Ben Clark officiating. Burial followed at the Cross City Cemetery. A visitation was held Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the Rick Gooding Funeral Home in Cross City.
Arrangements were placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, US Hwy. 19, Cross City, FL, 352-498-5400.

Mary Alice Phelps
Mary Alice Phelps of Old Town passed away Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Florida. She was 56 years old. She enjoyed doing crafts and working. She worked at Hardee’s in Old Town for 3 years. She moved to this are in 1999 from Orlando.
She is survived by her sons, James Withrow (Shawanna) of Old Town and Mickel Phelps of Suwannee; step children, Lenny Phelps, Margaret Withrow and Pauline Phelps all of Alliance, Ohio; sisters, Edith Bailey of Lillington, NC and Rose Thomas of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Bobby Withrow of Glen Jean, WV and James Withrow of Ohio; and 5 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 5:00 PM at the home of her son, James Withrow.
Arrangements have been placed under the care of the Rick Gooding Funeral Home, US Hwy 19, Cross City, FL 325-498-5400.
