STANLEY “BUD” LUCAS
Surrounded by his family, Stanley “Bud” Lucas passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice on April 12, 2013.
Bud was born in Chicago on June 24, 1930. He proudly served as a Submariner in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Bud and Roseann spent the early part of their marriage travelling the world before settling with their family in Jacksonville/Orange Park, FL. Bud served as a Past Commodore and was an active member of the NAS Jax Yacht Club. He was well-known for his nautical creations using his knowledge of Marlinspike Seamanship.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Roseann; his children Luann, Michael, and Patty; his grandchildren Karyn and Bobby (Lindsey); his father-in-law, Louis Mastroianni; and his sister-in-law, Louise Mastroianni.
Bud will always be remembered for his vivid storytelling and gregarious laugh.
In remembrance, there will be a visitation for friends and family on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. Additionally, we will be celebrating Bud’s life at a memorial service on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 12 noon at the funeral home.
Bud will be laid to rest with full military honors at Jacksonville National cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bud’s name to Haven Hospice, 745 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32065.

Rosalie B. Groover
(September 23, 1923 - October 25, 2011)
GROOVER - Mrs. Rosalie B. Groover, 88, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011. She was a native of Ponca, NE having lived in Jacksonville for many years. She was a homemaker and a long-time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1431 Broward Rd. where her funeral mass will be held Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM with Fr. Christopher Liguori officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, James R. Groover, Jr., in 2009 and her daughter, Mary Ann Groover, in 1996. Surviving family includes: her son, James “Jim” R. Groover, III; brother, Delmer Brennan; granddaughter, Christine (Ian)Weaver and great granddaughters, Destinee and Alyssa Weaver.

William Earl French
(October 28, 1927 - October 26, 2011)
FRENCH - William Earl French, 83, passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at his residence in Florahome. He was born in Kansas City, MO and had lived in Jacksonville for many years before moving to Florahome. He was 61 year member of Millwrights and Machinery Erectors Union, local #2411, and a member of Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Florahome. Mr. French was predeceased by his son, Michael, in 2009. Surviving family includes: his wife of 64 years, Joyce French; his daughter, Joyce Ellen (Ray) Trescot; 3 sons, Thomas, Paul (Ana) and Bill French; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Ave. with Rev. Ronald Carlberg officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for the hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made, in his memory, to Oak Avenue Baptist Church, Educational Annex Building Fund, 400 Oak Ave., Florahome, FL 32140.

Ola Jane Hess
(July 12, 1920 - October 22, 2011)
Ola Jane Hess, 91, passed away on Saturday October 22, 2011. Ola was born on July 12, 1920 in Luling, Texas to William Henry Burgin and Winnie Bell Culpepper Burgin. She moved to Jacksonville in 1955. Ola was very envolved in Scouting, the PTA and a very active and long time member of Arlington Baptist Church. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was extremely quick witted and very devoted to her family. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Major William Jefferson Hess and a son Gary Hess. Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Hess; sons, Charles and Larry Hess; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. with Rev. Fred Norman, Arlington Baptist Church officiating. Private inurnment will be held in Arlington Park cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Arlington Baptist Church or N. E. FL Community Hospice. .

Andrew T. Kelley
(May 19, 1929 - September 19, 2012)
KELLEY - Andrew T. Kelley, 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Fran. Mr. Kelley was a loving person who rarely had a bad word to say about anyone. He had a strong faith and was the "Rock" of the family. Mr. Kelley had a successful 36 year career with the railroad. In addition to his wife, Fran, he is survived by his three sons, Patrick Andrew Kelley (Joyia), Michael Kelley (LuAnn), and Dennis Kelley (Barbara); grandchildren, Joette, Andrew, Katherine, and Michael; and great grandchildren, Michael and Matthew. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 21st at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Mr. Kelley's funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22nd at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6551 Argyle Forest Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32244, Pastor Jonathan Kuske, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 24th at Jacksonville National cemetery.

Jeane M. Sawyer
(October 8, 1926 - October 8, 2012)
SAWYER - Jeane Marshall Sawyer, 86, passed away quietly on Monday, October 8, 2012. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold, in 1986. Mrs. Sawyer was a strong, independent minded lady who was very protective of her children. She is survived by her 3 sons, Harold, James (Susan), and Bruce (Melody); her brothers, John and Richard Marshall; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family will conduct a private memorial service and in late November will celebrate Mrs. Sawyer's life at her son, Harold's house. Arrangements by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd.

Robert "Bob" Malcolm Ulsch
(April 7, 1928 - September 21, 2012)
ULSCH Robert Malcolm Ulsch (Bob), age 84. Born and raised in Jacksonville on April 7, 1928, died on September 21, 2012. Parents, Malcolm F. and Marie Ulsch, Grandparents, Malcolm P. (Pop) and Minnie Ulsch, Will and Mary DeGrove. Bob retired from Florida National Bank of Florida Inc. after 38 years of service. Bob started at the bank in the mail room and moved up the ranks working in different departments. He later transferred to the home office and after holding many different positions, he rose to be the number one officer under the president. After consolidation with Alliance Mortgage, he served as the Executive Vice-President and Secretary to the Board of Directors, which was the position he held when he retired. In addition to his duties at the Holding Company level, Bob was also a Director of Florida Bank of Sumter County and Florida National Credit Corporation. Bob is a member of Arlington Rotary Club. He and Shirley are one of the few remaining organizers of Parkwood Baptist Church, where they are still members. He was an ordained deacon of the church as well as a former member of the Sun Wheelers RV Club. Bob graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Class of 1946 and was a graduate of the American Institute of Banking (AIB). Bob is predeceased in 1982 by his son Robert Mark Ulsch and his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley B Ulsch and his children, Larry M Ulsch, Michael F Ulsch and Patti L Ulsch and her fiancé', Roger Crum, 6 grandchildren, Kelly Ulsch, Ryan Johnson, Megan Ulsch, Mitchell Hartley, Erica Hartley and Curtis Crum, 2 great granddaughters, Harleigh Ulsch and Ma'Laya Johnson. The family wishes to express their thanks to the best caregivers in Jacksonville, Sherri Toifel and Rosalind Marshall, as well as the Purple Team with Community Hospice. They all gave wonderful care to Bob. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257 will be appreciated. Funeral services will be held at Parkwood Baptist Church, 7900 Lone Star Rd. in Arlington, Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. The Family will greet friends an hour before the services, at 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Burial will be in Oaklawn cemetery following the service. Rev. Manny Keyser officiating. Funeral arrangements are by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd.

Claudia "Gammie" Michaels Beck
(November 28, 1945 - September 24, 2012)
Claudia “Grammie” Michaels Beck, 66, went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 24, 2012. She was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, FL born to the late Edwin H. and Frances (Jones) Michaels. Claudia was a devoted mother and grandmother and an active member of Gardenview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Robert “Wayne” Beck and her brother, Brian E. Michaels. She leaves behind her sons, Robbie (Fran) and Matt (Amy); her grandchildren, Dana, Leah, Daniel and Faith; a devoted lifelong friend, Betty Meares and other loving friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 28, at Gardenview Baptist Church, 3139 Armsdale Road, with Rev. Gary Griffis officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the church. Arrangements by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue.

Deborah Kathleen Sampson
Funeral services for Mrs. Deborah Kathleen Sampson, 99, widow of Donald R. Sampson, will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, from the graveside in Temple cemetery, with Rabbi Joshua Lief officiating. Born November 9, 1912 in Kingston, Jamaica, W.I., Mrs. Sampson died Friday, November 18, 2011 in Jacksonville. She was a member of Congregation Ahavath Chesed and Hadassah. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor K. (Charles) Berman of Jacksonville; a son, David K. (Alison) Sampson of Toronto, Canada; two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Barham of Sarasota, FL and Mrs. Zena Roberts of Toronto, Canada; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many adoring relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to River Garden Hebrew Home For The Aged or Congregation Ahavath Chesed. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South.

Jennie Crews
(January 27, 1926 - October 1, 2012)
CREWS - Jennie Crews, 86, passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 following a long illness. Mrs. Crews was a cosmetologist and retired after 20 years with CVS Pharmacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Bud" Crews and is survived by her children, Bonnie Drury, Sue Crews, Sonia Ganzel and Harry Crews; a sister, Nellie Anderson; her brother, Nat Smith; 10 grandchildren, Franklin Drury, Jimmie Drury, Jack Griego, David Griego, Richard Crews, Patrick Crews, Sarah Crews, Marisa Crews, Terry Crews and Harry Crews Jr; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jennie attended the Hilliard Church of God where funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 5 with Brother Steve Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Buford Grove cemetery in Hilliard. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, (TODAY) October 4 at Shepard Funeral Home in Folkston, Georgia. Local arrangements by Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue, Jacksonville Fl.

Reginald "Reggie" D. Clay
(October 1, 1928 - September 14, 2012)
CLAY - Reggie Clay was called to his home in heaven on September 14, 2012. He was born October 1, 1928 in Atlanta, GA to Lee Esther and Reginald Dewey Clay. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Claire, sister, Betty Black, and children, Becky Orrison (David), Rachel Parker and David Clay (Sharon), and loving grandchildren Carly, Matthew, Clay, Daniel, Tracy and Brian.
He attended the University of Georgia and graduated from Mortuary School in Nashville, TN. He worked as a sales manager for Star Paper Tube.
He was one of the first Boy Scouts in Georgia to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a member of St. Paul Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge # 309 and was a devout Georgia Bulldog.
Among his numerous hobbies were woodcarving, folk art, genealogy, fossils, music, studying nature, and watching shorebirds. He made many wooden toys for St. Paul and hundreds of cedar crosses. He enjoyed going to the Fortuna Senior Center and visiting with his friends and the creative writing group. His talents and interests were never-ending. He will be missed by all who knew him. Donations may be made to St. Paul UMC on Lone Star Rd. and the Fortuna Senior Center. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18th at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd. Mr. Clay's memorial service will held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, September 19th at St. Paul UMC.
