Richard A. Griffis
Born: June 29, 1953
Died: October 02, 2014
Richard A. Griffis, 61, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014. Mr. Griffis was born in Valdosta, GA to Edward and Jean Griffis and was raised in Jacksonville (Dinsmore), FL. Richard is survived by his children, Scott Griffis of Duval County and Melissa Young of Tattnall County, GA; his brothers and sisters, Sandy Ursry, Larry Griffis, Judy Ray, John Griffis and Becky Blount; Seven grandchildren, Dylan, Richard, Andy and Kacey Griffis, Jessica and Thomas Moody, and Georgia Teeters; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other loving family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, October 6, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 3436 Lane Avenue North, with Pastor Dean Starling and Pastor Johnny Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue.

Wanda Rae Keener
Wanda Rae Keener, 57, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home in Orange Park, FL.
Wanda was much loved by family and friends, especially her Sunday School classes at Island View Baptist Church in Orange Park where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013.

Gordon Cheesman
(September 14, 1925 - September 22, 2012)
CHEESMAN - Gordon "Poppy" Cheesman, 87, longtime resident of Jacksonville, FL and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away at home on September 22, 2012.
He was a disabled WWII Veteran and later retired as an aeronautical engineer. His talents were many including, drawing, painting, poetry, and an incredibly keen sense of humor. His smile brought a bright ray of light into the world and he always spread kindness, love, and compassion every day of his life (even at his most desperate times). He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
His kind heart and spirit will live on in his devoted daughters Martha L. Holloway, Cynthia D. Holloway, and Annamarie Lee; his beloved grandsons Jeremiah D. Lambert and Benjamin J. Lambert and wife of 15 years, Iva S. Cheesman.
A memorial service will be held at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home located at 940 Cesery Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32277 on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 4 pm. Jacksonville National cemetery will provide burial with military honors on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 12:30 pm.

Nell Kirk
December 1, 2014 heaven received another angel, Nell Beatrice Kirk born April 12, 1938 in Valdosta Georgia passed peacefully to join a loving son David Russell Kirk whom she had lost 30 years ago. She was a loving mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Great Grandmother and Great Aunt whom is survived by son William E. Kirk Jr. wife Marita, son Peter L. Kirk wife Debbie, son Charles M. Vines. Grandchildren daughters of William, Gabrielle and Kaitlyn Kirk, Grandchildren sons of Peter, Peter and Nicholas Kirk, Grandchildren sons of Charles, David Russell and Deven Vines, Niece Laura A. Thomas and her children Veronica Gunn, Patrick Gunn and Joan Gunn Oxley and Grandchildren. As well as being survived by many other relatives, Neices and Nephews, and friends. She was loved by many and will be missed. She was an angel in earth and earned her wings for heaven. She fought a long battle of Rheumatoid Arthritis but is resting peacefully now.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Arthritis Foundation at www.arthritis.org

Joan B. Trowbridge
(January 4, 1947 - September 29, 2012)
TROWBRIDGE - Joan Bernreuter Trowbridge, 65, passed away on September 29 after a long-fought battle with cancer. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 45 years, Bob; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Ericka; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Mary; precious granddaughter, Eva; parents, Lareatha and Vernon Moore; sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Danny Mathis; sister and brother-in-law, Michele and John Endress; and other special relatives and good friends. A memorial service to celebrate Joan's life will be held at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 8264 Lone Star Road, on Thursday, October 4 at 11:30 a.m., with Reverend James Jennings officiating. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joan's memory be made to The V Foundation, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, NC 27513, or online at jimmyv.org.

Doris Ruth Green
Died: Monday, March 29, 2004
Age: 80
She was born on April 8, 1923, to Frank and Rose Johnson of Akron, Ohio. She moved with her husband, Elton, of 57 years to Atlantic Beach in 1989. She graduated from Garfield High School and attended Akron University. She was a secretary at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. She loved her church, flower arranging, animals, helping others, and her family. In Ohio, she was an active volunteer at The Children’s Home, past president of the Woman’s Garden Club, a Girl Scout leader and member of countless PTA’s. In Florida, she was a member of the Selva Marina Country Club, the Red Hat Society, and American Legion Post 129 of Jacksonville Beach.
Family members include her husband, Lawrence Elton Green, D.V.M.; three children, John L. Green, D.V.M., L.P.G.A. professional Judy Dickinson (Palm Beach), and Barbara Green, S.A.V.E. Program teacher; five grandchildren, Michele Green, Tiffany Stevens, Alicia Henderson, and Barron and Spencer Dickinson and two great grandchildren, Noah and Nicholas Williams; several other relatives and lifelong friends including the dedicated and loving staff of Avante Nursing Home.
Private family services were held. In lieu of flowers, please do a "Random Act of Kindness" as was her true spirit to help others.

Mr. Morris Thomas Daab
March 1, 1927 - June 27, 2012
Jacksonville, Florida - Morris Thomas Daab, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012.

Sarah Ann Wilson
Died: Wednesday, June 08, 2005
She was born in Lakeland, Fla., Sept. 29, 1947, to Doris and Tommy Foreman. She and her mother, Doris and stepfather, Bob Evans, moved to Jacksonville Beach during her elementary school years. She attended San Pablo Elementary School and Fletcher High School, graduating in 1965.
Sarah was a cheerleader and Anchor Club officer, and member of the homecoming court, National Honor Society, student council and Who's Who.
She was a very talented pianist, and played the piano during the talent portion of the Miss Duval County Beauty Pageant in 1966.
Sarah then attended Florida State University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She graduated in 1969.
Sarah married her childhood sweetheart, Navy Lt. j.g. Bob Wilson, on March 27, 1971. After a career in the Navy, the couple settled back in Jacksonville Beach. They had a son, Chad Robert Wilson, who was born Oct. 4, 1978. Chad still lives in Jacksonville and works for CitiBank.
Sarah held many jobs during her lifetime, including her stint as a flight attendant for United Airlines which began when she was 50.
In recent years, Sarah was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 129 in Jacksonville Beach. Her husband, Bob; son, Chad; and brother- and sister-in-law; Bill and Jan, who reside in Jacksonville Beach, survive her. She had many close friends from the auxiliary and childhood friends who will live at the Beaches.
A memorial service will be held in the meeting hall of American Legion Post 129, 1151 S. Fourth St., Jacksonville Beach, at 2 p.m. tomorrow, June 11.

Norman G. Wright
Died: Tuesday, June 07, 2005
Age: 66
He was born in Pitts, Ga., and attended Atlantic Beach Assembly of God.
Wright is survived by his wife, Gloria; son, Jeffrey Wright (Wendy); brothers, Marvin (Helen) and Bill (Jennifer); grandchildren, Jeff Jr., Krissy, Gregory, Garrett, Wade and Heather; and a great-grandchild.
Visitation was held yesterday, June 9, at Town & Country Funeral Home. Funeral services are today, June 10, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel at 7242 Normandy Blvd. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.

William A. Shoemaker
Died: Tuesday, June 07, 2005
Age: 83
Shoemaker was in the Army during World War II from 1940 to 1945, where he served in the 386 Engineer Battalion. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald, and sisters, Joan and Miriam.
Shoemaker is survived by his life partner and mother of four children, Clara K. Porter; children, Deborah, Sherry, Patricia and Linda, William, Marian and Douglas; a brother, Robert; and sisters, Renny and Margorie.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Cecil Wiggins officiating.
Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville Beach.
Memorial contributions may go to Northeast Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, Fla. 32257.
