Walter F. Michaud
Died: Saturday, July 09, 2005
Age: 72
Michaud was born in Sanford, NE but had lived in the Beaches area for over 35 years. He was a retired Sgt. with the USMC and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, American Legion Post 316 and the VFW Post 3270.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie A. Michaud, one daughter and six sons, four step-children and 26 grand children.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. July 23 on the grounds of Beaches Memorial Gardens at Levy Road and Main Street in Atlantic Beach.

Sarah L. Card
Sarah L. Card 84, a longtime resident of Jacksonville passed away March 8, 2012, after a lengthy illness. A native of Blackshear, Georgia, she was a home maker and a Baptist by faith. She is survived by her husband John W. Card, 1 daughter Sandra McCommon, 1 son William N. McCommon, 1 sister Willa M. Walker (Jack), 1 brother Randall Liles, 8 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P. M. Sunday at George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main St. Jacksonville, FL. 32206 where funeral services will be held 11 A. M. Monday with Mr. James Moore officiating. Burial will follow at 1 P. M. in Jacksonville National cemetery.

Maureen (McGinty) Yeager
Died: Saturday, July 09, 2005
She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 11, 1939 in Pittsfield, MA where she was raised. She met and married her husband of 47 years, Albert P. Yeager, Jr. and accompanied him for 27 years on his career in the U.S. Navy. She retired from Nemours Children's Clinic as a radiology technologist and did volunteer work with Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband; her three children Paul, Karen and Tommy; six grandchildren, Melissa, Judy, Josh, Priscilla, Tyler and Trace; four great grandchildren, Austin, Neena, Cheyton, Jillian and an additional one on the way, her brother Mickey and sister Mary Ellen as well as brothers and sisters in law, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.
The viewing will be held at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach today, Wednesday, from 6-8 pm. A memorial mass will be at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Interment service is to follow at Beach Memorial Gardens in Atlantic Beach. Reception to follow at St. Paul's Family Service Center. Arrangements by Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home Jacksonville Beach. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at MEM.com.

Brenda Varcadipane
Died: Saturday, July 09, 2005
Age: 60
She was born Dec. 15, 1944 in Montreal, Canada and moved to the Jacksonville Beach area several years ago.
She was a board member of the Northeast Florida Retreads Motorcycle Association, the N.E. FL H.O.G., the Italian-American Club, the Jacksonville Real Estate Investment Assoc. and the Ocean Cay Homeowners Association. She was also a volunteer for many organizations, including the YMCA and Muscular Dystrophy.
Family members include her sons, Steven (Lisa) Inman of Jacksonville and Cory Inman of Jacksonville Beach; step-son Michael J. Varcadipane; grandchildren, Nikki and Noah Varcadipane and Anthony "Tony" and Meagan Inman; cousins, Sandra Braus and Talia Schenkle; best friend, Judy Gentry; close friends, Dan and Ann Champeau, Mike and Gale DuPrel; and many other friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmen Varcadipane; her parents Charles and Rae Beck; and her in-laws, Carmen and Lee Varcadipane.
A memorial service to honor her life will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, July 16 in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz, a Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society, 8464 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32216

Addie Mae Ricketts
Addie Mae Ricketts, 83, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on November 27, 2011. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 10am in the Chapel of George H. Hewell and Son Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard, South with Dr. Terry N. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn cemetery. Addie Ricketts was predeceased in death by her husband John Ricketts and numerous siblings. She is survived by a daughter Patsy Ann Cassano (Wesley) of Jax.; a son, John W. Ricketts of Jax.; a sister Nancy White of Axson, GA.; a brother, William “Dockey” Burch (Rosa) of Jax.; grandchildren, Robert Mathis, Tracey and Chad Ricketts; and great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 from 7-9PM.

Jerry McHale
Died: Saturday, July 09, 2005
Age: 48
A native of Boston, he had lived in Jacksonville Beach most of his life. He was a graduate of Fletcher High School and the Jacksonville Police Academy.
McHale was a decorated police officer and was also a retired lifeguard with Jacksonville Beach. His passions were boating, surfing and driving his Harley with Barbie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary McHale and is survived by his wife, Barbara; their children Natalie and Nicholaus; his father, Gerard McHale, Sr.; 2 brothers, Patrick (Patricia) and Eugene (Michelle) McHale; 3 sisters, Barbara (Dennis) Walker, Theresa (Jim) Emory, Florence (Bruce) Wiedman and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends today, Wednesday, from 5-7 p.m. at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at the FOP Lodge. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.mem.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Daniel Memorial Foundation.

Keith A. Johns
Died: Saturday, July 09, 2005
Age: 54
Family members include his daughter Melissa Ellis of West Palm Beach; sons, Jesse James Johns of Tennessee; and Jesse J. Johns of Elmira, NY, as well as several grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Mike) Stephens of Jacksonville Beach, Stella (Gary) Petzold of Sebastian, FL; brothers Kevin Johns of Archdale, NC, Gene Johns of Owego, NY and Joe Johns, Owego, NY; one niece and six nephews.
Private family services will be held in New York.
Services arranged by Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home in Jacksonville Beach.

Francis Socha
Died: Friday, July 08, 2005
Age: 62
He was born Aug. 10, 1942 in Uxbridge, MA and moved to Hastings in 1988.
He served in the National Guard for six years during the Vietnam Era and especially loved Harley motorcycles.
Family members include his son, Brian (Mary) Socha; daughter, Heidi (Brian) Dehaan; brother, Ed Socha; sister, Shirley Arnold; grandchild, Danny Goodwin; ex-wife, Judy and many friends.
A surfside gathering was held Monday on Crescent Beach, Mary Street ramp in St. Augustine.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida.

Nathaniel Hopson
Nathaniel Hopson passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. He was the son of the late Bernice and Johnny Ealy, born on September 19, 1934 in Lake Geneva, FL.
Mr. Hopson received a bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Geneseo, and furthered his education receiving certifications as a legal assistant/paralegal and as an electrician. He worked as a correctional officer for the New York State Correction Facility for 25 years, taught at Orange Park High School and worked as a mental hygiene attendant.
Nathaniel was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and going on cruises.
Nathaniel is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hopson; sons, Reginald (Elsie) Hopson, Steven Hopson and Nathaniel Hopson, Jr.; daughters, Gail Hopson and Vivian Stone; grandchildren, Andre, Shalease and Teresa Hopson; seven great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Nathaniel fought the good fight, heard his name called and has gone home to be with his Lord.
A visitation will be on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 135 Brickyard Road, Middleburg, FL 32068.

Mr. William Danby Palmer
April 5, 1937 - June 24, 2012
Jacksonville, Florida - William Danby Palmer, LTC, US Army Retired, 75, entered into rest on June 24, 2012. He is remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born on April 5, 1937 to the late William H Palmer, Jr. and Doris Mary Palmer in Sheffield, Alabama. He is survived by his wife of 52 beautiful years, Carol E. Palmer; children, Kristina Palmer and Jessica Flamio; grandchildren, Courtney Palmer, Anthony Flamio, Mariah Webb and Cheyenne Webb; great grandchild Gage Palmer; brother, Robert N. (Betty) Palmer, sister in law Betty (Donald) Miller; son in law, Sherman Webb and many treasured friends. Bill retired from the Army in 1977 and has long since been a resident of Jacksonville, FL. He was also retired from Coastal Industries. He enjoyed spending most of his time cherishing his family, and his days golfing and playing tennis at Hidden Hills. He was very active in motorcycle riding, playing the ukulele and fishing. Family will receive friends on Friday, June 29, 2012 from 6-8:00pm at Arlington Park Funeral Home, 6920 Lone Star Road, Jacksonville, FL. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00am in the cemetery at Arlington Park. A reception is to follow at the American Legion Post 283, 9459 Ft. Caroline Rd., Jacksonville, FL. Family welcomes flowers, but if you choose to make memorials, family requests that they are made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org

Roberta M. Kennedy Maxwell
Died: Friday, July 08, 2005
Formerly a resident of Old Greenwich, CT, Kilmarnock and Richmond, VA, she and her husband moved to Jacksonville in 2001. She had battled Parkinson's Disease for 16 years.
She was born on April 23, 1919 in Cincinnati to Dr. Robert Kennedy and Arlie Emma Kennedy. Her father was a Methodist Minister, who preached in several communities in Ohio.
Maxwell was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University. After graduation, she taught English. She met Richard Maxwell in Troy, Ohio and married him in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1942. She served in executive positions for Women of the Church while living in Richmond, VA. She was a member of the Rappahannock Arts League. An accomplished water colorist, she played piano by ear. She also enjoyed playing golf.
Family members include her husband of 63 years, W. Richard Maxwell; son, Douglas R. and his wife, Eleanor Maxwell of Jacksonville Beach; daughter, Jean Ann Maxwell of Richmond, VA; twin granddaughters, Hayden Kennedy Maxwell of Jacksonville and Meredith Maxwell Glenn and her husband, Tripp of Atlanta, GA; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Susan Glenn; two nieces, Mrs. Joyce Pipes of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Mrs. Judy Sharpe of Belle Center, Ohio. Her son, Robert G. Maxwell, predeceased her in 1975.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz, a Family Funeral Home with the Reverend Carol DiGiusto, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn cemetery of Jacksonville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494 or Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
