Richard George Acker, 83, of Inverness died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000. He was born in North Royalton, Ohio, and came to Inverness in 1972 from Brecksville, Ohio. Mr. Acker was a retired carpenter. He was the son of Carl K. Acker, who died April 19, 1976, and Elsie L. Acker, who died Oct. 7, 1976; and brother of Claire K. Acker, who died June 15, 1976. He was a member of the Inverness Church of God. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mary Rae Hinckley Acker of Inverness; two sons, Bert R. of Berea, Ohio, and Thomas H. of Asheville, N.C.; two daughters, Joy A. Kanter of Inverness and Deborah A. Emma M. Brackett, 79, of Inverness died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. She was born in Bowling Green, Ky., and came to Inverness in 1973 from Brownsburg, Ind. Mrs. Brackett was a retired parts inspector for a heavy equipment manufacturer. She was a member of the Hernando Civic Club, the New Hope Circle and Phi Beta Chi Sorority. She was an avid crocheter and hand crafter. She was Protestant. Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Virgil E. Brackett of Inverness; two daughters, Barbara Stern of Glendale, Ariz., and Nancy Rubino of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Elizabeth Belcher of Monrovia, Ind.; three grandsons and three great-grandchildren. Dolores R. Brenton, 64, of Ocala died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. She was born in Chelsea, Mass., and came to Ocala eight years ago from Boston, Mass. Brenton was a retired security guard for a photo manufacturer. She was Episcopalian. Edward Herrmann, 86, of Homosassa Springs
Edward F. Herrmann, 86, of Homosassa Springs died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. Born in New York City, he came here 20 years ago from Ridgewood, N.J. He was a retired replenishment manager for Montgomery Ward with 37 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the West Citrus Elks Lodge and the Homosassa Lions Club. He is survived by his son, Ronald D. and wife Marianne Herrmann of Ridgewood, N.J.; sister, Thea Lyttle of New York; and two grandchildren, Gregory and Amanda. Vivian Lane, 79, of Dunnellon
Vivian V. Lane, 79, of Dunnellon died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at the Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., on July 9, 1921, to Albert and Anna (Daly) White, she came here 23 years ago from Highstown, N.J. She was a homemaker. She was a Catholic. Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore ‘‘Ted’’ Lane, in November 1997. Surviving are her brother, Albert White of Pine Ridge, and many loving friends. Donald E. Lewis, 80, of Inverness died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2000, at his residence. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Dec. 23, 1919, to Mervin and Edna (Taylor) Lewis, he came here 14 years ago from Arizona. He was the retired owner of Metro Trenching. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. He is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Lewis and Mervin Lewis Jr.; three sisters, Evelyn Nolan, Judith Kaltenbach and Sheri Lewis; and several nieces and nephews. Chas. E. Josephine Margaret LoCurto, 92, of Inverness died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came to Inverness 20 years ago from Lake Ronkonkona, Long Island, N.Y. Mrs. LoCurto was a retired waitress. She attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. She was the wife of the late Mr. William Vito LoCurto, who died Nov. 2, 1964. Vera Miller, 86, former resident
Vera E. Miller, 86, formerly of Citrus County, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at Dacier Manor in Dowling Park. Born in Lapeer, Mich., on July 31, 1914, to George and Alice (Gray) Kerr, she moved to Dowling Park from Citrus County 12 years ago. Mrs. Miller had been a resident of Citrus County since 1972. She was a retired medical records clerk with the State of Michigan for 24 years. She was a member of the Hernando United Methodist Church. She is survived by one son, William Evans of Inverness; three daughters, Alicia Weston of Dowling Park, Marian McLaughlin of Trenton, and Georgene Ruby of Caro, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Born in Pittsfield, Mass., June 6, 1911, to Thomas and Mary (Dermody) Nealon, he came here in 1997 from Largo. He was a retired machinist in the aviation industry. He was a World War II Navy veteran. David Mark Sovatsky, 45, of Citrus Springs died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. He was born in Rochester, N.Y., and came to Citrus Springs in 1976 from there. Maxx Andrinie, 72, of Crystal River, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. He was born in Hilliard, Ky., and came to Crystal River in 1967 from St. Petersburg. He was a retired front line supervisor for Fossil Fuels after 23 years of service and a member of the Florida Power Retirees. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Inglis. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Pauline Ingram Andrinie of Crystal River; two sons, James E. and Dean J., both of Crystal River;daughter, Cindy Nicolosi of Tarpon Springs; sister, Jo Ann Jagger of Redington Beach; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A native of Detroit, Mich., she was born April 21, 1917, to the late Wilfred and Elizabeth Donohoe. She came here 28 years ago from Berkley, Mich. She was a member of the Hernando United Methodist Church, Women of The Moose and Inverness Garden Club. Survivors include one son, James Robertson of Plymouth, Mich.; two sisters, Barbara Carbary of Arlington, Texas, and Nancy Trivett of Colorado; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and life-long friend, Cherry Pearson of Inverness. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for El Paso Natural Gas. He was a member of Lebanon Masonic Lodge No. 22 in Gallup, N.M.; York Rite of Free Masonry in Gallup, N.M.; and Ballut Abyad Shrine Temple in Albuquerque, N.M. Raymond F. Matheu, 92, of Inverness died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Brentwood Health Care Center. A native of Cuba, he was born on April 24, 1908, to Joseph and Mary Ann Matheu. He came to Florida 26 years ago from Queens, N.Y., where he was a chef in the restaurant business. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and a World War II Army veteran. He was a U.S. Navy veteran; member of VFW, American Legion, DAV, Sheriff’s Association, Navy Aero Flight Club and Paso Fino Horse Association. Born in Springfield, Ill., on Feb. 4, 1920, to Fred and Edna (Curtis) Templeton, he moved to Largo six months ago from Crystal River. He was a retired deputy director at the National Center of Health Statistics in Washington, D.C., and Raleigh, N.C. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Seven Rivers Golf and Country Club. He was Protestant. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Eleanor Templeton of Largo; one stepson, Jerold Swackhamer of Miami; one stepdaughter, Sandra O’Keefe of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Doris LaFauce and Annette Downing both of Springfield, Ill., and Bernadette Lawler of Palm Harbor; four grandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Marce D. Ward, Lt. Comm. Ret., 90, of Crystal River, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Knoxville, Iowa, on Jan. 26, 1910, to Thurman E. and Cora (Shivvers) Ward, he came to this area 20 years ago from Knoxville, Iowa. He was a retired Lieutenant Commander for the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was at Iwo Jima and Pearl Harbor during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 222 F&AM Panama City; and a member of the Retired Officers Association of Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Crystal River United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Louise Ward of Crystal River; his son, Vernon Ward of Crystal River; two brothers, Ted Ward of Knoxville, Iowa, and Ira J. Peggy L. McCarthy, 60, of Lecanto died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born April 20, 1940, in Teaneck, N.J. to Leo and Lumilla Lezette. She taught music at Transfiguration Elementary School in Rome, N.Y. She moved to Lecanto in 1996 from Rome, N.Y. She was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto and a member of the Contemporary Choir at St. Scholastica. She is survived by her husband, James F. McCarthy of Lecanto; three sons, Peter J. McCarthy of Bristol, R.I., Thomas L. McCarthy of Hernando and Michael J. McCarthy of E. Aloysius Grontkowski, 86, of Dunnellon died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the Life Care Center of Ocala. He was born in South Bend, Ind., and moved to Dunnellon in 1982. He was employed as an aerospace inspector for Bendix Aviation Corp. for 38 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8511, third degree. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Grontkowski of Dunnellon; two nieces, Bernadine DeGeeter and Rita Grontkowski, both of Mishawaka, Ind. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lottie Grontkowski.
