He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Worcester. He was Catholic. George D. Smith, 83, of Inglis, died on Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Seven Rivers Community Hospital in Crystal River. Born on Feb. 15, 1917, to Sylvester G. and Jean (Torrance) Smith in Glascow, Scotland, he came here four years ago from Wellsville, N.Y. He was a winter resident for 15 years. He was a retired engineer for power plants. He was a member of the Wellsville Masonic Lodge 230 F&AM, the Exchange Club of Wellsville, N.Y., the N.Y. Wellsville Country Club and American Society of Mechanical Engineers of Wellsville, N.Y. He was a U.S. Army 17th Airborne Glider Trooper veteran during World War II. Donald K. Yox, 66, of Crystal River died Jan. 6, 2000, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born to Ruth and Kenneth Yox on Jan. 15, 1933, in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved here from Andrews Air Force Base, Md., 30 years ago. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association and he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1970. He was preceded in death by his son, Ray D. Yox, on July 30, 1964. He was Baptist. Born in Rochester, N.Y., on May 29, 1919, to George and Barbara Kreslak, she came here 29 years ago from St. Petersburg with her husband, Clifford Browning, who preceded her in death on March 28, 1992. He retired as store manager from F.W. Woolworth Co. after 38 years of service. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was Methodist. Anna Hoh, 80, of Dunnellon
Anna L. Hoh, 80, of Dunnellon died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000. She was born in Boston, Mass., and came here in 1986 from Gulf Port. Mrs. Hoh was a homemaker. She was Protestant. She was a member of Community Congregational Christian Church, ONO (Our Night Out) Women's Club and Citrus Springs Community Chorus. She was an avid card player. She played the organ and wrote poetry. Surviving are her husband, Andrew Hoh of Dunnellon; three daughters, Janet Johnson, Barbara Rutherford, both of Dunnellon, and Joan Evers of Citrus Springs; and two grandchildren. Dr. Ruth Kilchenmann, 83, of Beverly Hills
Dr. Ruth J. Kilchenmann, 83, a former professor of German and Comparative Literature, a Beverly Hills resident for seven and one half years, formerly of Connecticut and originally from Switzerland, died on Jan. 6, 2000, in Sterling, Va., while returning from a trip to Portugal and Spain. Dr. Kilchenmann, who was born on Jan. 1, 1917, in Langnau, B.E., Switzerland, became a widow at a very early age, with twin children. She had been a teacher, so she resumed her former profession. In 1949 she immigrated to Lima, Peru, where she taught many different subjects for which she was certified, at a well-renowned Swiss school. In 1952 she immigrated to California, where she subsequently completed her doctorate degree, became a U.S. citizen and began her career as a professor. She taught at eight universities and colleges, culminating as chairman of the department at Pennsylvania State University in Shippenburg, Pa. She then returned to her native country to teach at the American College in Leysin, Switzerland. Before her retirement she held two positions consulting for industries where her long experience in education was needed. For the next five years she and a friend constructed a 65-foot iron sailboat, which they then transported to the South of France and then sailed across the Atlantic to Barbados, to Martinique then to Florida and finally to the Chesapeake Bay where she sold her ''Aglaia.'' After five years in Connecticut from where she frequently visited the opera in New York City, she settled in Beverly Hills, where she swam in her pool every day and continued her extensive travels throughout the world. She always felt her most memorable experiences were in Turkey, China and Indonesia, the last trip of which was just three years ago. Survivors include one daughter, Katrin LaRoche of Connecticut; two grandsons, Lt. Marc V. LaRoche of Fort Polk, La., and Alexandre A. LaRoche of Easton, Pa.; as well as a sister, half-sister, half-brother and nieces and nephews in Switzerland. Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, Va.

Doris Klein, 81, of Floral City
Doris Donahue Klein, 81, of Floral City died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Citrus Health and Rehab Center following a lengthy illness. A native of Lockport, N.Y., she was born on April 18, 1918, to the late Leo and Amelia Donahue. She came to Florida 17 years ago from Aiken, S.C., with her husband, George R. Klein, who preceded her in death Jan. 22, 1986. She was a retired medical secretary for the University of Georgia with 20 years of service, having retired in 1982. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Aiken, S.C., where she served as the choir director for 15 years and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus Council 319 of Lockport, N.Y. After moving here, she became a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Parish where she was a member of the Women's Club and Choir. She served as past president of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15-01 of Crystal River. Surviving are her sister, Betty Jean (Harold) Shaver of Lockport, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Marilyn (Donald) Conlin of Lockport, N.Y.; aunt, Letha Butler; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dear and devoted friend, Kenneth Hollsten of Floral City. Louise Sutton Noyes-Hitchcock, 76, of Inverness died at the home of her son in Lyndonville, Vt., on Monday, Jan. 10, 2000. She was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Lyndon, Vt., the daughter of the late Walter E. and Marion Poole Sutton. Before retiring, she was the national head of personnel for Farmers Home Administration, Division of USDA in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Christian Science Church. She was predeceased by her husbands, Reginald O. Noyes and Charlie Hitchcock. Surviving are four sons, James Noyes and his wife Sandra Jean Curtis of Hatley, P.Q. Canada, R. He was a retired traffic manager for Derby Foods. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the First Ladies Slovak Association in Ohio. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Zephyrhills.
