She was a member of Sugarmill Woods 18 Hole Ladies Golf League, Oak Village Women's Club and West Citrus Ladies of the Elks. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William S. King Jr. and Ted King. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, C. Richard Smith; son, Carl R. and wife Kristen Smith of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Susan and husband Phil Shaw of Athens, Ohio; two sisters, Faye Gabbert of Anchorage, Alaska, and Opal and husband George Yates of Lutz; brother-in-law, David Smith of Shelby, Ohio; five grandchildren, Stephanie Morris, Benjamin Morris, Keegan Shaw, all of Athens, Ohio, Caitlyn and Rory Smith of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Evelyn A. Brossman, 87, of Meadowcrest, Crystal River, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital. She was born on Jan. 18, 1913, to Augusta and George Baird. She moved here 25 years ago from Elmont, N.Y. She retired from the banking industry as an executive secretary. She was a member of the Bridge Club. She was Protestant. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy J. Branigan of Vero Beach and Janet G. Nabti of Great Falls, Va.; one brother, George Baird of Babylon, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Nora Haefele, 67, of Crystal River
Nora Haefele, 67, of Crystal River died Sunday, April 9, 2000. She was born in Wigan, England and came to the United States in 1950 from England and moved to Citrus County from Long Island, N.Y., in 1972. Mrs. Haefele was a member of the St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crystal River. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joan Haning, in July 1999. Surviving are her husband of 20 years, Edward W. Haefele of Crystal River; son, Alan (Jenny) Hunstein of Crystal River; daughter, Diane (Edward) Mason of Crystal River; five grandchildren, Denise, Richard and Eddie Hunstein, all of Crystal River, and Brian and Jennifer Mason, both of Crystal River; and a niece, Sandy (Tom) Adabody of Inverness. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was Catholic. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Prethyenia Krzeminski of Beverly Hills; two daughters, Barbara Schebendach of Key West and Judy Ciardi of New Jersey; one son, Charles Norton of New Jersey; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Roy Longanecker Sr., 79, of Homosassa
Roy A. Longanecker Sr., 79, of Homosassa died Monday, April 10, 2000. He was born in Berwyn, Md., and came to Homosassa 25 years ago from Hollywood, Md. Mr. Longanecker was retired from the Civil Service at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md., after 331/2 years. He was one of the founders of the Branchville, Md. Fire Department. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran 26th Infantry Division serving in the Battle of the Bulge. He was Baptist. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Krug Longanecker of Homosassa; three sons, Roy A. Longanecker of Glen Burnie, Md., Carl L. Longanecker of Lindside, W.Va., and Lewis E. John Marcellino, 76, of Spring Hill died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Brooksville Regional Hospital. Mr. Marcellino was born in Watkins Glen, N.Y., on Nov. 23, 1923, to John and Nellie Marcellino. Edward Mascaro, 98, of Crystal River
Edward V. Mascaro, 98, of Crystal River died Monday, April 10, 2000, at Crystal River Health Care & Rehab. Mr. Mascaro was born in Mt. Vernon, N.Y., on May 4, 1901, to Antonio and Mary Frances Mascaro. Mr. Mascaro was a retired scenic artist. He painted stage scenery for Broadway, the Metropolitan Opera House and for motion pictures. He moved to Citrus County in 1991. He was a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees and Moving Picture Machine Operators, Local 366. Surviving are his daughter, Mary Lagarino of Crystal River; two sisters, Kay Pizzarello of Franklin Lakes, N.J., and Ann Signorelli of Mount Vernon, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Christina Winchombe of Cape Coral, Gregory, Michael and David Lagarino all of Crystal River; and five great-grandchildren. John H. Sessoms, 81, of Homosassa died Monday, April 10, 2000, at home under the loving care of his family. He was born in Bay Head, on July 12, 1918, to Albert and Cora (Williamson) Sessoms. He came here in 1961 from St. Petersburg. Mr. Sessoms was a retired carpenter and had worked for Florida Power Corp., for many years. He was a member of Carpenters Local 2292 of Ocala. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving with the Seabees in the South Pacific during World War II. He was Protestant. Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Bea Sessoms of Homosassa; a son, John P. Sessoms of Humboldt, Tenn.; five daughters, Judy DeGennaro of Summerfield, S.C., Pat Bottoms of Homosassa, Sherry Bedee and husband Howard of Orange Park, Jamie Lewis and husband Gary of Crystal River and Cathy McNally of Homosassa; 15 grandchildren, Allison, Derrick, Todd and Brent DeGennaro, John and Jackie Sessoms, Theresa, Tommy and Timmy Owens, Tiffany Reeves, Chad Bedee, Natalie Sessions, Brandon Lewis, Jarrod McAllister and Katelyn McNally; and 11 great-grandchildren. Caroline C. Snell, 97, of Inverness died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Mariner Health Care of Inverness. Born in Queens, N.Y., on March 10, 1903, to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Fickel) Wuest. She came here in 1989 from Kings Park, Long Island, N.Y. Mrs. Snell was a homemaker. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Surviving are her daughter, Eileen Bolognesi of Inverness; two grandchildren, Michael P. Bolognesi Jr. and Mary-Beth Everette; and three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicole and Anthony. Phyllis Arnold, 80, of Crystal River
Phyllis M. Arnold, 80, of Crystal River died Tuesday, April 11, 2000. She was formerly a resident of Fitchburg, Mass. She died at her daughter's home in Crystal River under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born in Athol, Mass., in 1920, to Leslie and Pearl Goodwin. She was a homemaker and a born-again Christian affiliated with Ozello Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Ronald C. Arnold; a son, Lynwood, who died in 1979, and an infant son, Ronald, who died in 1941. She is survived by three sons and three daughters, Douglas Arnold, husband of Deborah of Franklin, N.C., Scott Arnold, husband of Faith of Leominster, Mass., Ethan Arnold of Gardner, Mass., Darlene, wife of Ronald Blood of Norwood, Mass., Joyce, wife of L.J. Mikell of Crystal River, and Sharon, wife of Edward White of Clarement, N.H.; two brothers and two sisters, Norman Goodwin, husband of Lulu of Washington, D.C., Robert Goodwin, husband of Martha of Mount Airy, N.C., Gloria Boblin of Orange, Mass., and Marylin, wife of Joe Cummings of Athol, Mass.; 25 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren all of whom were dearly beloved. She became best friends with two of her cousins, Laura Sadie Covey and Mae Gagnon. Their friendship was treasured all of her life. She also leaves many nephews and nieces and friends. Mr. Beck was a retired funeral supply salesman. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Homosassa First United Methodist Church. Frances M. Chapman, 84, of Inverness died Wednesday, April 12, 2000. She was born in Waterford, Maine, and came to Clearwater in 1972 from Portland, Maine before moving to Inverness in 1986. Mrs. Chapman was a retired office manager. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Post 4337, Inverness, and the Moose Lodge No. 1179, Lake Panasoffkee. She was Methodist. Surviving are her husband of 37 years, Raymond A. Chapman of Inverness; son, Ronald W. Bailey of Auburn, Maine; three sisters, Thelma Cummings of Topsham, Maine, Helen Sanborn, Ruby Palmer, both of South Paris, Maine; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Tess Kontrafouris, 81, of Hernando died Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., June 14, 1918, to Jennie and Charles Chafatinos. She moved here from West Babylon, N.Y., 20 years ago. She retired from the city of Babylon as a circuit court stenographer. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Greek Orthodox Church in Lecanto. She was an active member of the Republican Party. Surviving are her husband, Harry D. Kontrafouris of Hernando; son, George Kontrafouris of Hernando; daughter, MaraLynn Kontrafouris of Lecanto; brother, Michael Chafatinos of Hernando; and a sister, Christine Antos of Maryville, Tenn. Genevieve ''Jeanne'' Wagner Lewaine, 75, of Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and moved to Homosassa eight years ago from Clark, N.J. Mrs. Lewaine was a retired administrative assistant in Security Systems for Mayfair Foodtowns, Elizabeth, N.J.. She was a member of the Deutcher Club, Clark, N.J. She was Catholic. Surviving are her husband, Robert W. Lewaine Sr. of Sugarmill Woods; son, Robert W. Lewaine Jr. of Pittstown, N.J.; daughter, Janice Madrid of Greenwich, Conn.; and three grandchildren. He had been employed with Publix Super Market for the past 11 years. Surviving are his son, William ''Bill'' Velez of Coutchogue, N.Y.; his mother, Carmen Velez of Inverness; brothers, Joseph Velez Jr. and John Velez both of Inverness; sister, Jean Tina Robinson of Portsmouth, N.H.; and two grandchildren, William and Alexa. Lucia Brown, 50, of Inverness
Lucia Doris Brown, 50, of Inverness died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Lucia was born Nov. 24, 1949, in Jamestown, R.I., to Albert and Olive Arcuri. She moved to Inverness in 1990 from Miami. She was an emergency medical technician (EMT) with the Citrus County Volunteer Fire Department. When her illness forced her to retire she was bestowed the title of Honorary Member of the Citrus County Volunteer Fire Department. She was Baptist. Surviving are her mother and stepfather, Olive and Dale Brown-Wilder of Inverness; father and stepmother, Albert and Janet Arcuri of Inverness; three sisters, Rosemary and husband Craig Sculthorpe of Orlando, Dora DeVito and Alberta Best both of Miami; four brothers, Vincent and wife Lisa Arcuri of Haines City, Mark and wife Melissa Arcuri of Inverness, James and wife Deloris Arcuri of Lecanto, and Albert Arcuri Jr. of Homosassa; 15 nieces and nephews; eight great-nieces and nephews; and several aunts and uncles throughout Florida. Born in New York City on May 9, 1917, to Peter and Phillipa (Dragotta) Chinnici, he came here 29 years ago from Uniondale, N.Y. Mr. Chinnici was a retired real estate sales representative. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a life member of the VFW Post 4337, Inverness. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Concetta Iacono Chinnici of Inverness; two sons, Stephen A. of Garden City, N.Y., and Michael J. of Meville, N.Y.; one sister, Mary Subach of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; and one granddaughter, Nicole. She was a member of Inverness Does Drove 232, and Point O' Woods Country Club. She was Lutheran. Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Paul William Mayer Sr. of Inverness; son, Ralph Cunningham of Harrison, N.J.; stepson, Paul W.
