E.V. (Buddy) Adams, 90, of Americus, Ga., died Monday, April 3, 2000, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus. He was born in Tifton, Ga., on Aug. 2, 1909, to Polk and Lillian T. Adams. He was employed for many years by the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad as a telephone maintainer. At the time of his retirement, he was an inspector for the Long Line Division of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company. After retirement he became a resident of Inverness for 27 years. He had also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Avon Park. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Velma Hayes Adams of Americus, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Wagner and John of Sebring, Joanne Jones and Don of Sandy, Utah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles P. Adams and Millie of Statesboro, Ga., E.L. (Bud) Adams and Carol of Marysville, Wash.; five granddaughters, Kathy Jones of Sandy, Utah, Linda Dimech of Palm Harbor, Rebecca Adams of Washington, D.C., Elizabeth Adams of Atlanta, Ga., and Jonna Adams of Kansas City, Mo.; one grandson, Colton Adams of Marysville, Wash.; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Dougherty of Greenwood, S.C., and Patricia DeVane of Crystal River; one brother, Charles E. Edmund W. DeLeo, 66, of Bushnell died Monday, April 3, 2000. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and came to Bushnell seven years ago from Whiting, N.J. He was a retired superintendent of schools in Seaside Heights, N.J., and was well known for his work in drug and alcohol abuse counseling and family counseling in New Jersey. He was a member of the Citrus County Art League; Icehouse Theater, Mount Dora and Bill Irle Theater Group, Clearwater. He was a friend of Bob for 20 years. He attended St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, Annie Clipper DeLeo of Bushnell; two daughters, Cyndi Davis of Bleinheim, N.J., and Gina DeLeo of Clementon, N.J.; three stepdaughters, Amber Bird of Waretown, N.J., Barri Kuhlwind of Medford Lakes, N.J., and Chana Bird of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Joseph DeLeo of New York City, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren. Walter A. Gabriel, 75, of Floral City died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., on Feb. 3, 1925, he came to Florida seven years ago from Perth Amboy, N.J., where he was employed in the plastics industry. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hildegard, May 27, 1998. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 23, 1933, to Jane Prince and Thomas Breckenridge Semans Jr. He moved here from Lighthouse Point, 18 years ago. He retired from the city of Lighthouse Point as the assistant director of public works. He was a member of Western Racing Association and the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post 155 of Crystal River. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict. He was Protestant. He was born in Sharpsburg, Md., Aug. 12, 1907, to Harry T. and Bessie Bowers Turner, and came here 25 years ago from Rockford, Ill. Mr. Turner was a farmer in Rockford, Ill. He was a past member of the Crystal River Loyal Order of Moose No. 2013. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Dunnellon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardath, July 17, 1997. Robert Cunningham, 74, of Inverness
Robert Asbell Cunningham, 74, of Inverness died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Mariner Health Care in Inverness. Born in Bellevue, Ky., on Sept. 6, 1925, to Robert and Clara (Asbell) Cunningham, he came here 14 years ago from Orlando. Mr. Cunningham retired from Martin Marietta of Orlando as a research scientist with more than 40 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of the Navy V-12 Program's first graduating class and was known for his inventive skills. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness where he was recently honored as Elder Emeritus. Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Helen (Newland) Cunningham; two sons, Robert D. Cunningham and his wife Jennifer of Orlando and William D.
