Lorraine Verna Cavill, 79, of S. Escanaba, Mich., died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at the Bishop Noa Home where she had been residing since this past October. She was born in Escanaba on Aug. 4, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Marie (LaCombe) Condory, and was a graduate of the Escanaba High School. She was married to Robert Cavill in 1939. He preceded her in death in 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald. She had worked for the A&P Store in Escanaba for more than 20 years and had wintered in Florida for many years. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, and her family. She was a member of St. Anne's Church. Surviving are two sons, Gary and wife Judith of Milwaukee, Wis., and Ron of Golden, Colo.; one daughter, Kathy and husband Brian Lee of Victor, N.Y.; one sister, Elaine Bergerson of Escanaba, Mich.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Lonnie Davis, 42, of Crystal River
Lonnie ''Gene'' Davis, 42, of Crystal River died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Shands Medical Center in Gainesville. He was born in Leesburg on Sept. 12, 1957, and came here with his family at the age of 6. He was a 1975 graduate of Crystal River High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran (E6) with 11 years in the service. He was an electronics communications specialist with GTE Corporation and worked for the Gator Discount Store in Crystal River. Surviving are his son Aaron Keith and daughter Heather Brooke Davis, both of Inverness; his parents, Lonnie and Shirley Davis of Crystal River; four brothers, Michael, Mark and Matthew Spangler, all of Crystal River, and Darell Davis of Homosassa; two sisters, Patricia Eastman of Inverness and Glenda Reed of Ocala; his granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Davis and many dear friends. Jack Fitzgerald, 75, of Crystal River
Jack A. Fitzgerald, 75, of Crystal River died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Seven Rivers Community Hospital. He was born in Mullins, W.Va., on March 29, 1925, to Nora and Emory L. Fitzgerald. He moved to Florida in 1959 from West Virginia and to Crystal River 19 years ago from Fort Lauderdale. He retired from the city of Oakland Park as the maintenance supervisor. He was a member of and an ordained deacon of the Riverside Baptist Church in Orlando. He served in the 10th Moutain Division in the U.S. Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Troy, Densil and Varden Fitzgerald, and his grandson, Matthew Fitzgerald. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dema; three sons, Jack R. of Homosassa, Roger and wife Louann of Crystal River, and Larry and wife Jennifer of Brandon; four daughters, Sharon and husband Leo Sabourin of Tamarac, Kathie Carpenter of Crystal River, Michelle and husband Donald Heinzman of Crystal River, and Rhonda and husband J.P. Distel-Barker of Crystal River; one brother, Emory and wife Rosemary of Crystal River; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other family members. Kathryn Merryman, 84, of Leesburg
Kathryn L. Merryman, 84, of Leesburg died Monday, May 22, 2000. She was born in Galt, Mo. She was a retired proofreader for a printing business and a seamstress at AG Holly Hospital, Lantana. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Inverness, and Citrus Shrine Club Ladies Angels. She was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church. Stanley Prentice, 87, of Inverness
Stanley Edward Prentice, M.D., age 87, of Inverness died at home on Sunday, May 21, 2000, under the loving care of his family and hospice. A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., he was born on July 25, 1912, to Sylvester and Edna (Peterson) Prentice and moved here as a winter visitor 11 years ago from Far Hills, N.J. He was a retired psychiatrist, having practiced for more than 41 years in Tenefly and Englewood, N.J., where he was the former Chief of Psychiatry for Englewood Hospital. He was a World War II U.S. Army Medical Corps veteran. He graduated from Colgate University and the Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons. His professional affiliations were many, including the New Jersey Medical Society, American Medical Association and American Academy of Psychiatry & Law. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary; three sons, Dr. Charles Prentice and his wife Kathy of Inverness; Robert Prentice and his wife Linda of Bluejay, Calif., and John G. Prentice of Allentown, Pa.; one daughter, Wendy Prentice Cramer of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren, Stephanie, Stacy, Scott, Beth and Craig; and two great-grandchildren. Chas. E. Richard A. Renn, 60, of Lecanto died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Philadelphia on Jan. 29, 1940, to Hiram and Helen Renn, he came here four years ago from Langhorne, Pa. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Frankfort Masonic Lodge, Philadelphia, a member of Egypt Shrine Scottish Rite, Trenton, N.J., Crystal River Loyal Order of Moose and the Carpenters Local 1462, Bristol, Pa. Frieda P. Smith, 79, of Inverness died Monday, May 22, 2000. She was born in Warsaw, Ill., and came to Inverness in 1967 from New London, Iowa. She was a retired beautician. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 7641, New London, Iowa. She was the widow of Merle S. Smith, who died on Dec. 17, 1987. She was Protestant. Msgt. William Holland Copas, USAF (Ret.), 61, of Inverness died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, on May 5, 1939, to William T. and Betty (Holland) Copas, he came to Citrus County in 1978, from England. Mr. Copas retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant with 24 years of service, having served during the Vietnam Era. Mr. Copas was also employed with the Tampa Tribune as a circulation manager with 20 years of service. He was an avid fisherman and woodcarver. He was Presbyterian. Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Elizabeth ''Ann'' (Hooper) Copas, son, Bill Copas of Saugerties, N.Y.; daughter, Lisa Wall of Inverness; brother, Bob Copas of Foster, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Basil Lanneau, 72, of Oak Run, Ocala
Basil R. ''Ray'' Lanneau, 72, of Oak Run, Ocala, formerly of Dunnellon, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. He was born in Jacksonville and came from Hauppauge, Long Island, N.Y., to Dunnellon in 1976. Mr. Lanneau served 25 years as a machine shop foreman at Franklin Folding Co. of Flushing, N.Y., before moving to Florida. He was a bus driver for 15 years (retiring in 1992) for Marion County Schools. He was a member of Paper Box Union Local 381, Mineola, N.Y. He was a lifelong enthusiast of automobiles and a self-trained auto mechanic. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Carol A. Lanneau of Ocala; daughter, Karen Zeno of Palm Harbor; grandson, Michael Zeno of Columbus, Ga.; stepmother, Helen de'Lanneau of Phoenix, Ariz.; and two stepsisters, Ilona and Laurie, both of Phoenix, Ariz. Pauline E. Allen, 76, of Lecanto died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at her residence. Born in Inverness, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a member of: the board of directors of the Key Training Center, the Citrus Cattlemen's Association and United Daughters of American Confederates. She was a supporter of FFA and the 4-H Clubs. She was a member of Gulf to Lake Baptist Church of Crystal River. Surviving are two sons, Horace ''Bud'' Allen of Crystal River and Phillip ''Tinker'' Allen of Lecanto; two daughters, Lillian Waugh of Fort Myers and Margie Haley of Lecanto; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on March 1, 1947, to Herbert and Jean (Sanders) Harris and came here 14 years ago from Hudson. She was a homemaker. She was a loving wife and mother, and she enjoyed hunting and gardening. She was Christian. Surviving are her husband of 11 years, Timothy S. Bushway; son, Rod Williamson of Hudson; daughters, Francie Daniels of Yankeetown and Holly Daniels of Vero Beach; sister, Cathy Carr of Ellenboro, N.C.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Frederick Chappell, 87, of Crystal River
Frederick C. Chappell, 87, of Crystal River died Tuesday evening, May 23, 2000, at the Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River. Born in Boulton, England, he came here 18 years ago from Pennsville, Pa. He served with the Allied Forces during World War II in the British Royal Navy. In his later years, he was an apartment complex manager and an avid gardener. He was a member of the Church of England. Surviving family members include a son, Kevan Chappell of Conrad, S.C.; a daughter, Merlyn Nergaard of Crystal River; and two granddaughters. Kathryn Davenport, 78, of Dunnellon
Kathryn Wise Davenport, 78, of Dunnellon died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at the Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala. She was born in Kokomo, Ind., on June 20, 1921, to Glenn M. and Blanche (Harrison) Wise, and came here five years ago from St. Petersburg. She was a member of the 1939 graduating class of St. Petersburg High School and graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1941. She was owner/manager of Davenport's Guest Home for 28 years. She was a former member and deaconess of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of St. Petersburg and a member of the First Baptist Church of Crystal River. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Andrew G. Mrs. Johnson was a retired school teacher in Wayne County, West Virginia, and taught social studies for many years along with teaching one year at Inverness Middle School. She was a member of Job's Daughters Bethel No. 1, Huntington, W.Va.; Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 61, Ceredo, W.Va.; and American Federation of Teachers. She was Protestant. He was a retired security guard for General Motors. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the VFW of Homosassa, American Legion in Tipp City, Ohio, and the Masonic Lodge of Tipp City, Ohio. He was Methodist. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Mary P. Carl Shumway Jr., 70, of Homosassa
Carl Kline Shumway Jr., 70, died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, at his residence in Homosassa. Born in Eden, N.Y., on April 1, 1930, to Nina Fay (Richardson) and Carl Kline Shumway Sr., he came to this area three years ago from St. Petersburg Beach. Mr. Shumway was an optical engineer for 10 years with Lockheed-Martin in Orlando. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean conflict and a member of the VFW and American Legion in St. Petersburg. Mr. Shumway held a bachelor's degree in photogrametry, attended Post Graduate at Institute of Delft in Holland, and was a member of Optical Society of America and American Society of Photogrametry. He held several patents in the aerospace field and was a consultant on the Apollo Project. Surviving are his wife, F. Jane Cannon of Homosassa; son, Andrew C. Shumway of Copper City; daughter, Rene Lowry of Seminole; brother, Richard Shumway of New Port Richey; two sisters, Shirley Wacshmann of Griffin, Ga., and Suzy Molthop of Oregon; and one grandson, Thomas Lowry. Willetta C. Burton, 72, of Lake Panasoffkee died Thursday, May 25, 2000. She was born in Blairsville, Pa., and came to Lake Panasoffkee 16 years ago from Mansfield, Ohio. Mrs. Burton was a retired L.P.N. She was an avid bingo player. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rutland.
