George Howard Cooper Jr., 63, of Dunnellon died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. Born in Suffolk, Va., on March 21, 1937, he came here in 1986 from there. He was a retired truck driver, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the American Legion Post in Dunnellon. He was Baptist. Surviving are his loving wife, Ruth (Terrell) Cooper of Dunnellon; three sons, Anthony Cooper of Suffolk, Va., Duane Cooper of Dunnellon, and Calvin Cooper of New York City, N.Y.; and nine grandchildren. Granville Dolan, 71, of Dunnellon
Granville Patrick Dolan, 71, of Dunnellon died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, in Lecanto. Born in Richmond, Va., he came here in 1975 from Homestead. He was a retired general manager in the auto sales industry. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Hernando and Navy Eagles. He was Catholic. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Arletta ''Kitty'' Dolan of Dunnellon; two sons, Michael P. Dolan and spouse Sandy Sevor of Crystal River, and Terrence J. Dolan and spouse Lynn of Mt. Holly, N.C.; two daughters, Kathy J. Ferguson of Homestead and Robin E. Wildonger and spouse Chico of Crystal River; two brothers, John M. Dolan and Edward F. Dolan, both of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Thelma Jones, Catherine Dolan and Mary Ellen Woodson, all of Richmond, Va.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. William Lewis, 89, of Beverly Hills
William V. Lewis, 89, of Beverly Hills died Friday, June 9, 2000, in Crystal River. He was born in New York, N.Y., and came here in 1974 from New Fairfield, Conn. He was a retired machinist in the pharmaceutical industry. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a charter life member of the Harry F. Nesbitt VFW Post 10087 in Beverly Hills. He was a member of the Volunteer Fire Company in Beverly Hills and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veronica Lewis, in 1998. Surviving are his brother, Richard M. Lewis of Port St. Lucie; and several nephews and nieces. Also survived by lifelong friends of 60 years, John and Dorothy Sommerer of Spring Hill and their children, Karen MacMenanin of Orlando and Eric G. Sommerer of New Fairfield, Conn. The Sommerer family and their children lived next door to the Lewis family in Connecticut. Their children considered the Lewises as their ''adoptive'' aunt and uncle. Wesley Morris, 83, of Inverness
Retired Air Force Col. Wesley Donald Morris, 83, of Inverness died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Chicago, Heights, Ill., on Nov. 25, 1916, to the late Harold and Minerva (Cool) Morris, he came here 33 years ago from Tampa. He was retired from MacDill Air Force Base as Chief of Intelligence with 29 years of service including his service during World War II, Korean conflict and Vietnam era. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and DAV Chapter 70. He was Methodist. Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Sedinger Morris; three daughters, Sharon Burrell of Bay City, Mich., Pamela Dahn of Brooksville, and Debbie Stewart of Ocala; one stepson, Christopher Condor of Kingsland, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Kimberly Ann Dwigans of Greenwood, Ind.; several grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Helen Smith, 79, of Ocala
Helen M. Smith, 79, of Ocala died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, at TimberRidge Nursing and Rehabilitation, Ocala. She was a lifelong resident of Belford, N.J., and came here seven years ago from there. Earlier in life she worked for 15 years as a waitress for Molly Pitcher Hotel in Red Bank, N.J. During the 1970s, she was an assembly person for Bendix Corp., Homdel, N.J. She was a former member and past president of Belford Engine No. 1 Fire Department, Belford, N.J. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Jeri and Charles Rodden of Ocala; daughter-in-law, Claudia Smith of Highlands, N.J.; five grandchildren, Matthew A. Rodden, Kelly Marie Rodden and Charlene Seitz, all of Ocala, Pamela Paul of Belford, N.J., and Robin W. Smith Jr. of Highlands, N.J.; four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Seth, Louis and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews including Dawn Anderson of Avon, N.J. Frances Webb, 83, of Tampa
Frances Laverne Webb, 83, of Tampa died Thursday, June 8, 2000. She was born in Alden, Ala., and came to Tampa five years ago from Largo, where she lived for 20 years. Mrs. Webb was a Southern Baptist. She was the wife of the late Mr. E. Clark Webb, who died June 27, 1996. Surviving are two sons, David M. Webb of Tampa and Robert E. Webb of Orange Park; two sisters, Jewell Yarborough of Huntsville, Ala., and Josephine Birchfield of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Hooper Funeral Home, Inverness.

Elizabeth Lunnon, 92, of Dunnellon
Elizabeth S. Lunnon, 92, of Dunnellon died Thursday, June 8, 2000, in Citrus Springs. Born in Montgomery, Ala., she moved here 12 years ago from Coral Gables. She was a retired librarian, who served as the director of libraries in Pago Pago, American Samoa for five years. The Samoan Government named the ''Betty S. Lunnon Library'' in her honor. She was also the director of libraries for the Dade County School System. She was a member of Coral Gables Presbyterian Church and Dunnellon Presbyterian Church. She was president of Friends of the Library in Dunnnellon, an officer of the Dunnellon Garden Club, a member of Dunnellon's Centennial Committee and a board member of Rainbow River Conservation. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lunnon. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Penelope L. and Darrell Fleeger of Dunnellon; a sister, Anne C. Scales of Huntsville, Ala.; and two nephews, Dwight Cleveland of Mongtomery, Ala. and Gen. John R. Scales of Huntsville. Guila Manchester, 81, of Floral City
Guila Belle Manchester, 81, of Floral City died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., on March 24, 1919, to the late William and Maude (Webster) Markham, she came here in 1977 from St. Petersburg. She was a retired legal secretary who had worked for several law firms in Syracuse, N.Y. She was the founder of the Humanitarians of Florida, where she was very active for many years. She was also a published poet and loved all animals. She was Protestant. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Leon C. Manchester, her beloved dog, ''Wiggles,'' and many dear friends. Bert Moore, 65, of Homosassa
Bert C. Moore, 65, of Homosassa died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at his home after battling cancer. He was born in Kentucky on March 3, 1935, to Carl and Connie May (Artis) Moore and moved to Homosassa two years ago from Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1957 and received a master's degree in public administration in 1972 from Syracuse University. He taught history at Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, Ohio until 1960 and was appointed as a foreign service officer in the Department of State in 1961. He retired from the Senior Foreign Service in March, 1990, as a Minister Counselor of the United States of America. During his career, he served in Washington, D.C., and at Foreign Service Posts in in Toronto, Canada; Salisbury, Rhodesia, Blantyre, Malawi; Paris, France; Kinshasa, Zaire; Teheran, Iran; Madrid, Spain, Lagos, Nigeria; Jakarta, Indonesia and New Delhi, India. He was one of the 52 diplomats held hostage in Teheran from Nov. 4, 1979, to Jan. 20, 1981. He received the Presidential Meritorious Award in September, 1985, and the Christian A. Herter Award in January, 1981, for extroardinary contributions to the practice of diplomacy, exemplifying intellectual courage and a zeal for creative accomplishment. In April, 1981, he received the Department of State's Award for Valor. After his retirement in 1990, he continued to work for the Department of State on short-term assignments abroad until 1999. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Other memberships include Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Sugarmill Woods Country Club in Homosassa. He was a past member of the Rotary Club in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stuart Moore, and a half-sister, Sandra Watson Morgan. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marjorie Kerr Moore of Homosassa; three sons, David Moore of Lake Los Angeles, Calif., Bob Moore of Chatham, N.J., Charles Moore of Barton, N.Y.; a daughter, Diane Wilke of Lincroft, N.J.; a brother Raymond Moore of Newark, Ohio; a half-brother, Roby Watson Jr. of Mich.; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Dylan, Melissa and Diane Moore. Stanley Papastefanou, 80, of Beverly Hills died Friday, June 9, 2000. He was born in Damascus, Syria, and has lived in Beverly Hills, Falls Church, Va., and San Jose, Costa Rica. He retired from the Government Foreign Service as a civil engineer for the Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Civil Engineers Association, Ahepa in Virginia and Maryland, the Full Gospel Businessmen's Association, and Iglesia Casa De Mi Amigo Assembly of God in Costa Rica. He is survived by his wife, Athena Karambatzaki Papastefanou of Beverly Hills; two brothers, Constantinos Papastefanou and Antonios Papastefanou, both of Athens, Greece; and two sisters, Efterpi Papastefanou and Elizabeth Papastefanou, both of Athens, Greece. Nicholas Rotolo, 83, of Inverness
Nicholas Charles Rotolo, 83, of Inverness died Thursday, June 8, 2000, at Citrus Health & Rehabilitation Center in Inverness. Born in New York City on Oct. 21, 1916, to Nicola and Paolina Rotolo, he came here 20 years ago from there. He was a retired entertainer and piano player who served our country in the Army during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette C. Born Sept. 17, 1925, to George and Bertie (Camp) Rhindress in Miami, she came here 22 years ago from Fellsmere. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of God. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Wilkey, who died in April 1992. Hilda M. Villhauer, 89, formerly of Keating Park in Floral City, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Country Manor Rest Home in Port Orange. Born in Liberty, N.Y., to Isaac and Susie K. (Ennist) Forster, she came to Citrus County in 1975 from Sarasota. She was a retired secretary for the U.S. Treasury Department.
