Madeline Cahill
Madeline Elizabeth Cahill, 67, of 910S.W. Hawthorne Circle, Micco, died Dec. 19, 1997, at her residence after a prolonged illness. She was born Dec. 31, 1929, in New York, N.Y., and moved to Micco 2 1/2 years ago from Pompano Beach. Mrs. Cahill was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church of Barefoot Bay, Moose Lodge No. 1767 and the Eagles Lodge, both of Sebastian. She was a eucharistic minister in Pompano Beach.She was last employed at Waterfall's Restaurant, Pompano Beach, and various restaurants in New York and Florida. Surviving are her husband, John; one son, Robert Allen Wollnoy, of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Jo Ann Naylor, of Redding, Calif., Theresa Contessa, of Spring Hill, and Barbara Roybal, of Rincon, Ga.; eightgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Private services will be held at a later date. The family suggests donations be made to Brevard Hospice, P.O. Box 560965, Rockledge, Fla. 32956-0965 in Mrs. Cahill's memory. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of East Coast Cremation, Melbourne.

Kenneth Jaquish
Kenneth C. Jaquish, 90, of Sebastian, died Dec. 25, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, following a lengthy illness. He was born July 1, 1907, in Elton, N.Y. and had been a resident of Sebastian for 13 years, moving here from Fort Lauderdale. He was a dairy farmer.He was a member of Sheridan Hills Baptist Church, Hollywood, and a member of the Sebastian Moose Lodge No. 1767, Sebastian. He was a former member of the Grange, Delevan, N.Y., the Oddfellows of Arcade, N.Y. He was in the county legislature for Cattaraugus County, N.Y., and a former town supervisor for the Town of Freedom, NY. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Vera.; his sons, Don Jaquish of Sebastian and Ron Jaquish of Arcade, N.Y., a daughter, Janet Ward, of Yorkshire, N.Y., a sister, Elva Swope of Rochester, N.Y., 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Dec. 28 at the Community Baptist Church, Sebastian, with Rev.Ron Barber officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Community Baptist Church, Sebastian, 12534 Roseland Road, Sebastian, Florida 32958, in memory of Mr. Jaquish. Mary Yerkes
Mary Larson Yerkes, 95, of Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 22, 1997, at Mariner Health Care Center in Melbourne after a brief illness. She was born March 2, 1902 in Hagaman, N.Y., and moved to Barefoot Bay four months ago from Johnstown, N.Y. Mrs. Yerkes was a homemaker. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Johnstown, N.Y., a charter member of the Senior Citizen's Club and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, both in Johnstown, N.Y. Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Vedder and Linda Childers, both of Barefoot Bay; a son, Robert Yerkes, of DeLand; one brother, Lars Johnson, of Valatic, N.Y.; one sister, Dena Summerville, of Oswego, N.Y.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel in Sebastian with the Rev. Ralph Rivers officiating. A graveside service will be sometime in the spring at Hagaman Cemetery in Hagaman, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnstown Senior Citizens Center, E. Main St., Johnstown, N.Y. 12905, or to one's favorite charity in Mrs. Yerkes' memory.

Audrey Elliott
Audrey J. Elliott, 68, of Sebastian, died Dec. 28, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a brief illness. She was born April 3, 1929, in Mapleton, Maine, and moved to Sebastian in 1978 from Portage, Maine. Mrs. Elliott was counter clerk at Top Value Enterprise, a stamp redemption center, for 10 years and was associated with Dunkin Donuts in Sebastian. Surviving are a son, William "Bill" Elliott, of Sebastian; two brothers, Lloyd Libby of Columbia, S.C., and Ellery Libby of Sebastian; two sisters, Vella Bedell of Rockland, Maine, and Alda Frank of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and one granddaughter. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Jan. 2 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian. Burial will be at a later date in Monroe, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, North Central Florida Area, 237 E. Helen White
Helen Elizabeth White, 74, of Sebastian, died Dec. 21, 1997, at Vencor Hospital, Fort Lauderdale, after a prolonged illness. She was born June 1, 1923, in Freeport, N.Y., and moved to Sebastian in 1991 from Mastic Beach, N.Y. Mrs. White was a bookkeeper for various Catholic charities.She was a member of the Welcome Wagon, Sebastian. Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Charles; one daughter, Gail Ann Caskin, of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.; one sister, Gloria Wright, of Sebastian; and three grandchildren. Mrs. White will be transferred to Giove Funeral Home in Selden, N.Y., for services and burial at Greenfield Cemetery, South Hempstead, N.Y. Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, is in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude Lynch
Gertrude Veronica Lynch, 93, of Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 26, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center after an extended illness. Mrs. Lynch was born July 31, 1904, in Fall River, Mass., and had been a resident of Barefoot Bay since 1991, moving from Oakland, Calif. She was a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Co., and a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay, the New England Club of Barefoot Bay and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Surviving are three sons, Thomas J. Lynch Jr., of Barefoot Bay, Edward J. Lynch, of Barrington, R.I., and William F. Lynch, of Fall River, Mass.; a sister, Margaret M. Roberts, of Barefoot Bay; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 31 at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay, with the Rev. Lucien Duquette officiating. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, Palm Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to VNA of Barefoot Bay, 1335 Gateway Drive, Suite 2020, Melbourne, Fla, 32901. Julia Schuch
Julia McMillian Logan Schuch, 82, of Barefoot Bay, died Dec. 27, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center after a brief illness. Mrs. Schuch was born April 15, 1915, in Scotland, and was a resident of Barefoot Bay for 11 years, coming from Jappantown, Md. She was a histologist for Johns Hopkins Hospital and active in the Barefoot Bay Swimming Club. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Norman; a son, Thomas Schuch, of Kansas City, Mo.; four stepchildren; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services were held Dec. 31 at Fountainhead Memorial Funeral Home, Palm Bay, with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Donations may be sent to the Micco Volunteer Fire Department, 301 Barefoot Blvd., Barefoot Bay, Fla. 32976.

Bill Weckerie
A memorial service will be held for Bill Weckerle at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church, 901 Clearmont St., Sebastian, on Jan. 8 at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Robert J. Lieffort officiating. He died Dec. 20, 1997. Arrangements are under the direction of Indian River Cremations, Vero Beach.

James H. Forbes
James H. Forbes, 82, of Micco, died Dec. 29, 1997, at his residence. He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Franklin, Va., and moved to Micco in 1965 from Charlottesville, Va. Mr. Forbes was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Army, and a veteran of World War II. He served in the Korean Advisory Group during the Korean War. He was a member of The Tabernacle Church, Melbourne. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Erma; one daughter, Hope Combs, of Virginia Beach, Va.; one son, Thomas Forbes, of Micco; one brother, Dr. David Forbes, of Suffolk, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Brown, of Newport News, Va., and Sarah DMoch, of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Dec. 31 at The Tabernacle Church, Melbourne. The family suggests donations be made to The Tabernacle Church, 1619 Ferndale Ave., Melbourne, Fla. 32935. Agnes Purvis
Agnes Margaret Purvis, 80, of Bethesda Baptist Retirement Home, Palm Bay, died Jan. 3, 1998, at the home after a prolonged illness. She was born March 4, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1987 from Redwood City, Calif. Mrs. Purvis was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church, Palm Bay and Barefoot Bay Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Barefoot Bay VFW Ladies Auxillary. She is survived by three sisters, Mable Beach of Naples, Grace Mathews of Barefoot Bay, and Helen Davidson of Barefoot Bay; and one brother, Albert Marsh of Chicago. A memorial service was held Jan. 7 at Barefoot Bay Baptist Church. Fountainhead Funeral Home, Palm Bay, was in charge of arrangements.

Kathryn Baisle
Kathryn Baisley, 93, of, Micco, died Dec. 16, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Roseland following a brief illness. She was born July 14, 1904, in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and moved to Micco in 1978 from Peekskill, N.Y. Mrs. Baisley was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Peekskill, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 189 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 10210, both of Sebastian. Surviving are two sons, Arthur A. Baisley, of Sebastian, and Calvin Baisley, of Peekskill; one daughter, Mildred Marallo, of Mahopac, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Roseland United Methodist Church in Roseland with the Rev. Carl Bray officiating. William Sherbrook
William F. Sherbrook, 81, 681 Layport Drive, Sebastian, died unexpectedly Dec. 31, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Roseland. He was born Oct. 27, 1916, in Baltimore and moved to Sebastian three years ago from Palm Bay. Mr. Sherbrook was a senior field representative for Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, and formerly owned Energy Miser in Vero Beach. Surviving are his wife, Lula; three sons, Scott Sherbrook, of Sebastian, Darryl Sherbrook, of Vero Beach, and William Sherbrook Jr., of San Francisco; one sister, Helen Walters, of Baltimore; and nine grandchildren. At the family's request there will be no repose or visitation. No service has been scheduled. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of East Coast Cremations.

Joan Babuschak
Joan E. Babuschak, 64, of Park Place in Sebastian, died unexpectedly Dec. 30, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland. She was bom July 27, 1933, in Trenton, N.J., and moved to Sebastian in 1990 from her birthplace. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Richard; one daughter, Kate Schuster, of Trenton; one son, Richard Babuschak, of Trenton; and one grandchild. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Trenton.Interment will follow at Princeton Memorial Cemetery, Robinsville, N.J. Marie Boyce
Marie W. Boyce, 97, of Barefoot Bay, died Jan. 1, 1998, at Holmes Regional Health Center, Melbourne, after a brief illness. She was born Sept. 21, 1900, in Watervaliet, N.Y., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1982 from Amityville, N. Y. Mrs. Boyce was a stenographer bookkeeper.She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian. Surviving are one daughter, Winifred Dugan, of Barefoot Bay, two sons, Richard M. Boyce, of Bayport, N.Y., and Paul S. Boyce, of Jericho, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Boyce is being transferred to Raynor D'Andrea Funeral Home, Sayville, N.Y., for services at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Sayville. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Babylon, N.Y. Evelyn June Giard, 75, of Barefoot Bay, died unexpectedly Dec. 30, 1997, at Oslow Clinic, Melbourne. She was born May 2, 1922, in South Paris, Maine, and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1979 from Merrimac, Mass. Mrs. Giard was a retired communications specialist for Western Electric, North Andover, Mass. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay. Surviving are her husband, Andrew; two sons, Andrew G. Giard, Jr., of Union, Miss., and Peter S. Giard, of Merrimac; one brother, Dana Jackson, of Bethel, Maine; one sister, Elva Lundberg, of South Paris; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Alexander Sims
Alexander M. "A.M." Sims, 92, of Sebastian, died Jan. 1, 1998, at Holmes Regional Medical, Melbourne, after a prolonged illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1905, in Greenville, S.C., and moved to Sebastian 65 years ago from Titusville. Mr. Sims was a commercial fisherman.He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sebastian. Surviving are two sons, Wayne Sims, of Sebastian, and Dennis Sims, of Vero Beach; one daughter, Judith White, of Sebastian; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held Dec. 6 at Sebastian Cemetery, Sebastian, with the Rev. R. Harold Lee officiating. Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, was in charge of arrangements.

Sophia Allen
Sophia Marie Allen, 1, of Sebastian, died unexpectedly Jan. 4, 1998. She was born Dec.13, 1996, in Vero Beach and had been a resident of Sebastian. Survivors include her parents, Malcolm and Eva Allen of Sebastian; her paternal grandparents, Ted and Rosalie Allen of Vero Beach; her maternal grandmother and husband, Eunice and Oland Horn of Kings Mountain, N.C.; and her maternal grandfather and wife, Johnie and Dot McKinney of Pickens, S.C. A funeral was held Dec. 8 at United Church of Sebastian, Sebastian, with the Rev. Tom Golladay officiating. Burial followed in Sebastian Cemetery. Dorothy Joyce Larese, 74, of Sebastian, died Jan. 3, 1998, in Royal Oak, Mich. Mrs. Larese was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Darby, England.She has been visiting Florida for 10 years and moved to Sebastian six months ago. She was a member of Living Lord Lutheran Church, Vero Beach. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Karam, of Rochester, Mich., and Sharon Mathieson, of Romeo, Mich.; one son, Ronald J. Larese, of Clinton Township, Mich.; one sister, Marjorie Winfield; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service was held Jan. 7 at St. John Lutheran Church, Rochester, Mich. Memorials can be made to the Children's Leukemia Foundation in Detroit or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Edward Dalva
Edward Dalva, 78, of Sebastian, died Jan. 12, 1998, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born March 25, 1919, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Sebastian five months ago from Stuart. Mr. Dalva was employed at Grumman Aerospace, Bethpage, N.Y. and Stuart, for 43 years, and was senior vice president prior to retirement.He served on the boards of directors of the Martin County Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA of Stuart, the Palm Beach Blood Bank and Channel 42 of Palm Beach. He was a member of the United Church of Rockville Centre, N.Y. Surviving are his wife of 55 vears, Margaret; one son, Thomas Dalva, of Branchburg, N.J.; two daughters, Debbi Vickers, of Sebastian, and Susan Mills, of Richmond Hills, Ga., one sister, Claire Sawyer, of Albany, N.Y.; and one grandchild. Funeral services were held Jan. 14 at the Adcock Funeral Home in Stuart, with the Rev. Jim Bailey officiating. The family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1695 S.E. Mary Lou Smith
Mary Lou Anne Smith, 38, of Sebastian, died Jan. 11, 1998, at her residence after a prolonged illness. She was born Nov. 28, 1959 in York, Pa., and moved to Sebastian five years ago from Hollywood. Mrs. Smith was a secretary at Construction and Drywall, Vero Beach.She was a member of Central Assembly of God, Vero Beach. She was a U.S. Army veteran. Surviving are her husband, Phillip; one son, Randy Wayne Smith, of Sebastian; her mother and stepfather, Ruth and Guy E. Piercy, of Hollywood; her father, Frank Pollins, of York, Pa.; and one stepbrother, Larry Charles, of Hollywood. The funeral was held Jan. 13 at the Strunk Funeral Home chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev.Buddy Tipton officiating. A graveside service was held Jan. 14 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Fort Lauderdale. Jerome Westfahl
Jerome C. Westfahl, 78 of Sebastian, died unexpectedly Jan. 11, 1998, at Sebastian River Medical Center. He moved to Sebastian 16 years ago from Sagamore Hills, Ohio. Mr. Westfahl retired from B.F. Goodrich Research and Development Center as senior research associate. He received his baccalaureate from the University of Wisconsin and his doctorate from Cornell University. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Arline; one son, Michael Westfahl, of New Castle, Wash.; two daughters, Diane Westfahl, of Bothell, Wash., and Karen Lehky, of Brunswick, Ohio; one sister, Lona Zillmer, of New Mexico; and six grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. No services are scheduled. Elsia Szorc
Elsia Szorc, 84, of Barefoot Bay, died Jan. 8, 1998, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 24, 1913, in New York, N.Y., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1975 from her birthplace. Mrs. Szorc was a nurse at Whitestone Hospital, Queens N.Y., prior to retirement.She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church and St. Sebastian's Ladies Auxiliary Barefoot Bay Polish Club; and Micco Fire Department. Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Szorc, of New York, and Carole Simon, of Baltimore, Md., one sister, Florence Yates, of Palm City; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
