Mary Platt
Mary E. Platt, 95, of Roseland, died Feb. 2, 1997, at Mariner Health Care, Melbourne, after a prolonged illness. She was born Aug. 13, 1901, in Jackson, Mich., and moved to Roseland in 1970 from Ann Arbor, Mich. Miss Platt worked for the Chrysler Corp. for 20 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sebastian. Surviving is her niece, Joretta Meeth, of Marcellus, Mich. Miss Platt will be transferred to Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, Jackson, for further services and burial in Fifield Cemetery, Blackman Township, Mich. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, North Indian River County Unit, P.O. Box 1749, Sebastian, Fla. 32958, in Miss Platt's memory. Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, is in charge of local arrangements.

David Lundberg
David L. Lundberg, 77, of Sebastian, died Jan. 30, 1997, at Sebasdan River Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to Sebastian 21 years ago from New Haven, Conn. Mr. Lundberg was employed by the Press Journal and was a member of Iron Workers Local No. 424 of New Haven, Conn. He was a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Lundberg is survived by three sons, David C. Lundberg, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jon L. Lundberg, of Madison, Conn., and Harold J. Lundberg, of Guilford, Conn.; one daughter, Donna Godwin of Rocky Point, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Sebastian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to VNA Hospice, 1111 36th St., Vero Beach, Fla. 32960, in Mr. Lundberg's memory. Mr. Lundberg was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society.

Ray Thompson
Ray Thompson, 79, of Sebastian, died Jan. 29, 1997, at Indian River Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born April 13, 1917, in Lexington, Mo., and moved to Sebastian in 1980 from St. Louis, Mo. Mr. Thompson was a pipe fitter and member of Local 562, St. Louis, for 26 years. He was a member of Sebastian Lodge No. 232 of the Free and Accepted Masons, and a member of the Orchid Society, St. Louis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are one son, John McKeon, of St. Louis; a sister, Dorothy H. Hersig, of Arizona; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A Masonic service was held Jan. 31 at the Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, by Sebastian Lodge No. 232. A graveside service was held Feb. 1 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, with the Rev. Jerry Cooper officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, North Indian River County Unit, P.O. Box 1749, Sebastian, FIa. 32958, in Mr. Thompson's memory.

Robert King
Robert James King, 67, of Sebastian, died Feb. 3,1997, at the Vet erans Administration Hospital, West Palm Beach, after a prolonged illness. He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Greece, N.Y., and moved to Vero Beach 51 years ago from Rochester, N.Y. Mr. King was a retired accountant. He was a member of Our Living Lord Lutheran Church, Vero Beach. He attended Concordia Seminary, Springfield, Ill., and Capital University, Columbus, Ohio. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Surviving are his mother, Ruth King Butcher, of Vero Beach; two sons, Gregory F. King, of Orlando and Christopher P. King, of Chuluota; one daughter, Deborah K. Johnson, of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, John Roger King, of Vero Beach; one sister, Dorothy K. Krum, of Vero Beach; and six grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service was held Feb. 6 at Our Living Lord Lutheran Church, Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Our Living Lord Lutheran Church, 2725 58th Ave., Vero Beach, Fla. 32966, or to the charity of one's choice, in Mr. King's memory. Marguerite Beyer
Marguerite D. Beyer, of Concord, N.C., and formerly of Sebastian, died Feb. 6,1997, at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Concord, after a prolonged illness. She was born in Leesburg, Ohio, and had been a resident of Sebastian from 1968-94. Mrs. Beyer was a licensed practical nurse at Wright-Patterson Air Force Hospital for 25 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sebastian. She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are one sister, Lela Ferguson of Springfield, Ohio; eight grandchildren; several great- grandchildren; and several great- great-grandchildren. A funeral was held Feb. 12 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Lee officiating. Entombment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rock ledge. Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, was in charge of arrangements.

Jeffrey Austin
Jeffrey A. Austin, 33, of Sebastian, died Feb. 8,1997, at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, after a prolonged illness. He was born June 25, 1963, in Toledo Ohio, and moved to Sebastian in 1983 from his birthplace. Mr. Austin was a construction worker. Surviving are his mother, Clara Shively, of Sebastian; stepfather, Paul Shively, of Sebastian; grandmother, Gladys Askins, of Sebastian; and two sisters, Deborah Strickland, of Fort Smith, Ark., and Linda Thomas, of Indianapolis, Ind. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service was held Feb. 13 at the First United Pentacostal Church, 4105 65th St., Winter Beach, with the Rev. Robert Williams officiating. Mr. Austin was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society.

Victoria Cooper
Victoria A. "Vickie" Cooper, 81, of Barefoot Bay, died Feb. 5,1997, at South View Hospital, Dayton, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Pottsville, Pa., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1964 from Springfield, Ohio. Mrs. Cooper worked at the Kennedy Space Center as a technical librarian for the Boeing Co. from 1967-1981. She was a member of Roseland United Methodist Church, Roseland. Surviving are two sons, William B. Cooper Jr., of Fort Pierce, and Vernon E. Cooper, of Springfield; four daughters, Shirley Jean Gordon, of Springfield, Norma L. Harris, of Dayton, Candace Potts, of Summerville, S.C., and Barbara Ann Fountain, of Melbourne; 19 grandchildren, 21 greatgrandchildren, and companion, Walt Edstrom, of Barefoot Bay. A funeral service was held Feb. 8 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev. Ralph Rivers officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.

Richard Sikes
Richard Allen Sikes, 51, of Fellsmere, died unexpectedly Feb. 5, 1997, at his residence. He was born Aug. 5,1945, in Vero Beach, and moved to Fellsmere from his birthplace. Mr. Sikes was a drill press operator at Piper Aircraft, Vero Beach, since 1967. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Fellsmere. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Carol; two daughters, Julie Thornton, of Vero Beach, and Melissa Schmidt, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his mother, Irene Cann and stepfatber, John H. Cann, both of Fellsmere; one brother, Pat Cann, of Grand Prairie, Texas, one sister, Sherrie Sloan of Havana; and five grandchildren. The funeral was held Feb. 9 at the Strunk Funeral Home chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev. Buddy Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Sebastian Cemetery, Sebastian.

Loretta Green
Loretta Gertrude Green, 85, of Fellsmere, died Feb. 6,1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born March 17, 1911, in Atkinson, Neb., and moved to Fellsmere in 1926 from her birth place. Surviving are one daughter, Betty Joyce Tankersley, of Vero Beach; two sons, Edgar John Green, of Fellsmere, and Gary Wayne Green, of Vero Beach; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held Feb. 8 at the Strunk Funeral Home chapel, Vero Beach, with the Rev. Buddy Johns officiating. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.

Vernon McLemore
Vernon McLemore, 78, of Barefoot Bay and Charlotte, N.C., died Feb. 15, 1997, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte. He was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Columbia, S.C., and was a winter resident of Barefoot Bay. Mr. McLemore served in the U.S. Navy's submarine division during World War II and was retired from the property and sales depart. ment of the Bob McLemore Co. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Sebastian. He was also a member of the McColl, S.C., Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. Surviving are his wife, _____; three sons, Bob McLemore, of Charlotte, Dan McLemore, of Mint Hill, NC., and Frank McLemore of Monroe, N.C.; three brothers, John and Ferris McLemore, both of Charlotte, and Foye McLemore, of Elizabeth City, NC; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchi1dren. A funeral was held recently at McEwen Charlotte Chapel, in Charlotte, with the Rev. Gary Bryant of Ficiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Charlotte. McEwen Funeral Service, Charlotte, was in charge of arrangements.

Alice Smith
Alice E. Smith, 87, of Sebastian, lied Feb. 13, 1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland, after a prolonged illness. She was born June 20, 1909, in Providence, R.I., and moved to Sebastian eight years ago from Providence. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Providence. Surviving is a friend, Frank Scaramuzzi, of Sebastian. There will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Heart Association, 237 E. Marks St., Orlando, Fla. 32803, in Mrs. Smith's memory. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society.

Kenneth Barrett
Kenneth Leo "Ken" Barrett, 77, of Sebastian, died Feb. 15, 1997, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Louisville, Ky., and moved to Sebastian 11 years ago from Wakefield, Mass. Mr. Barrett was an electrician with the Mass Bay Transit Authority for 20 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local No. 103, Boston, Mass. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Wakefield. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, 'Evelyn; two sons, Kenneth Barrett, of Sebastian, and Keith Barrett, of Wakefield; one daughter, Karen Barrett-Regan, of Reading, Mass; three sisters, Margaret Bratcher, of Richmond, Va., Dorothy Holtzknecht and Genevieve Krempp, both of Louisville; several grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev. Robert J. Lieffort officiating. Mr. Barrett was transferred to Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, Reading, Mass., for further services and burial in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield. Jack McClain
H. Jack McClain, 75, of Sebastian, died Feb. 16, 1997, at integrated Health Services of Palm Bay after a prolonged illness. He was born Sept. 11, 1921, in West Virginia, and moved to Sebastian one year ago from Woodburn, Ore. Mr. McClain retired after 40 years as a salesman for National Cash Register Co. He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Woodburn, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Lorayne; two stepdaughters, Margaret Gray, of Sebastian, and Ann Clark, of Beaverton, Ore,; one brother, Robert McClain, of California; and one sister, Jane McClain, of California. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial Mass was celebrated Feb. 25 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Woodburn. Mr. McClain was a member of the Indian River Cremation Society.

Gino Setti
Gino P. Setti, 77, of Barefoot Bay, died unexpectedly Feb. 16,1997, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland. He was born June 4, 1919, in Sommerville, Mass., and moved to Barefoot Bay in 1982 from New York state. Mr. Setti was a retired builder. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Air Corps, the Empire State Club, Over 60 Softball League, Barefoot Bay, and Barefoot Bay Bowling Club. Surviving are his wife, Pauline; one daughter, Patricia L. Douville, of Rapids, S.D.; one brother, John Setti, of Pennsylvania; one sister, Gina Keane, of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held Feb. 27 at Fountainhead Funeral Home, Palm Bay, with the Rev. Chau Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Micco Volunteer Fire Department, 301 Barefoot Blvd., Barefoot Bay, FIa. 32976, in Mr. Setti's memory.

Frances Clark
Frances E. Clark, 77, of Sebastian, died Feb. 21, 1997, at her residence after a prolonged illness. She was born May 24, 1919, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and moved to Sebastian 10 years ago from Boca Raton. Mrs. Clark was' a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Sebastian. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bill; three daughters, Joyce Desormeau, of Delray Beach, Sandra McWilliams, of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Linda Prainito, of West Palm Beach; one son, Bill Clark Jr., of Boynton Beach; a sister, Janice Ellis, of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Roger Heermans, of Spring, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. March 1 at First Presbyterian Church, In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Aurella Dann
Aurella Charlotte Dann, 93, of Sebastian, died Feb. 20, 1997, at Royal Palm Convalescent Center, Vero Beach, after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 28, 1903, in Chicago, Ill., and moved to Sebastian 10 years ago from Gaylordsville, Conn. Surviving is one daughter, Rosemary Waters, of Sebastian; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. At the family's request, therewill be no repose or visitation. A memorial service will be' held at a later date in Connecticut. Harry Miller
Harry George "Sonny" Miller, 70, of Sebastian, died July 27, 1997, at his residence after a prolonged illness. He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Yonkers, N.Y., and moved to Sebastian eight years ago from Chestertown, N.Y. Mr. Miller worked for the maintenance department at the Manhattan and Bronx Transit Authority in New York City for 25 years.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Manhattan and Bronx Transit Authority Association, New York. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, "Gita;" one son, Eric Miller, of Cincinnati, Ohio; one daughter, Renee Sullivan, of Boulder, Colo.; one sister, Joyce Webster, of Sebastian; and two grandchildren. A memorial service was held July 30 at the Strunk Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian, with the Rev. Roy Harris officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1111 36th St., Vero Beach, Fla. 32960 in Mr. Miller's memory.

Jane Hickey
Jane E. Hickey, 95, of Sebastian, died July 28, 1997, at her residence. She was born Sept. 14, 1901, in Portland, Conn., and moved to Sebastian nine years ago from Grand Rapids, Mich. Mrs. Hickey was a homemaker and a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian. Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Edward; one daughter, Janette H. Reid, of Vero Beach; one sister, Dorothy Josephson, of Portland; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. At the family's request, there will be no repose or visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
