Chester Dzwonkowski, 85, of High Point in Brooksville, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Chicopee, Mass., he moved to this area 30 years ago from Belchertown, Mass. He was a retired security guard for Brooksville Regional Hospital and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Brooksville. He is survived by his wife, Anne; a son, Charles of Tampa; two brothers, Benjamin of Fairview, Mass. and Mitchell of Amhurst, Mass.; two sisters, Tillie Frenier and Mildred Frazier, both of Orlando; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Pinecrest Funeral Chapels, Brooksville.

Natalia Morales, 89, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2002, at home.
She was born in Puerto Rico and moved to this area 15 years ago from Queens, N.Y. She attended St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include two sons, Felipe Mercado of Brooksville and David Colon of Darnestown, Md.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Milan Slahor, 82, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and moved to this area 11 years ago from Union, N.J. He was a retired cabinetmaker, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Sokol, VFW, New Jersey, and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Masaryktown.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Jeannie Chapman of Gilbert, Ariz., and Nancy Gillespie of Nevada City, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Kuzma of Ontario, Canada; and two granddaughters.

John H. Snow, 79, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in West Scarborough, Maine, and moved to this area 16 years ago from West Scarborough. He was a retired crane operator, a World War II U.S. Air Corp veteran, a volunteer fireman in West Scarborough, a member of Masonic Lodge, West Scarborough, and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; two sons, Tom of West Scarborough and Peter of South Portland, Maine; two stepsons, Gary Darche and Alan Darche, both of Memphis, Tenn.; and several grandchildren.

Susan M. Klein, 64, of Brooksville, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Brooksville.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area 28 years ago. She worked at Franklin Templeton of St. Petersburg as a disaster recovery planner and was a mentor of children in need. She attended St. Anthony Catholic Church, Brooksville.
Survivors include her husband, Philip; a son, Bruce Tabor of St. Petersburg; and two daughters, Leslie Tabor of Texas and Paula Tabor of Zephyrhills.

Alice E. McGinn, 80, of Waldwick, N.J., died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, in Spring Hill.
She was born in West Orange, N.J., and moved to this area five years ago from Greenville, N.Y. She was a retired sous chef, a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey of Tampa; two daughters, Christine of Waldwick and Dianne Coughlan of Garland, Texas; a sister, Grace Sappah of Port Jervis, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.

Virginia A. Maurer, 95, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Pocomoke City, Md., and moved to this area 34 years ago. She was a homemaker, an accomplished artist, an avid bridge player and a Southern Baptist by faith.
Survivors include a son, Ted Phillips of Weeki Wachee; a daughter, Carroll McGoey of Bedford, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Thomas "Tommy" Collaro IV, 55, of Spring Hill, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to this area four years ago from New Jersey. He was a construction contractor, a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
Survivors include four sons, Thomas R. of Connecticut, Michael of Pennsylvania, Ryan of New Jersey and Joshua of Virginia; a brother, Robert of New Jersey; two sisters, Alicia Schenkman of Florida and Emily Santini of New Jersey; and a grandchild.

William R. Quinlisk, 83, of Tampa, formerly of Spring Hill, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at his home.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Florida 31 years ago from Sinclairville, N.Y. He was a retired policeman with the Park Forest Village Police Department, Park Forest, Ill., a World War II U.S. Army veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, and a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by his nephew, Steve Edwards of Tampa.

Rupert Richard Sanmogan, 72, of Spring Hill, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Georgetown, Guyana, and moved to this area nine years ago from Queens, N.Y. He began his nursing profession in England as Head Nurse, then two years at Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, N.Y., and after 26 years of service, he retired as Nursing Administrator for Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, Brooklyn. He was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra L. Sanmogan of Queens and Karen Doyle of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, Albert Sanmogan of Spring Hill; a sister, Marina Sanmogan of Spring Hill; and three grandchildren.

Pearl Ann Clapper, 47, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Cobleskill, N.Y., and moved to this area eight years ago from Stanford, N.Y. She was a food prep dietary aide and recently had been employed with Steak 'n Shake for over six years. She was a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include two sons, Carl W. and Jason Paul, both of Brooksville; a sister, Wilma Mead of Jefferson, N.Y.; a brother, Bob Clapper of Oneonta, N.Y.; and three grandsons.

Ruth M. Merrill, 84, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in Plattsburg, N.Y., and moved to this area 17 years ago from Athens, N.Y. She was a homemaker, a member of the Eight O'Clock Crafters Club, Athens, and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; two sons, Sidney Alan of Ocala and James Robert of San Juan, Puerto Rico; a daughter, Donna Lea Blaise of Fairhaven, Vt.; a brother, John Davis of Safety Harbor; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara A. Kuhn, 81, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa.
She was born in Lindside, W.Va., and moved to this area 12 years ago from Hollywood. She was a homemaker and a member of Beverly Park Wesleyan Church, Hollywood.
Survivors include her husband, Reverend Howard L. Kuhn; a son, Reverend Gary Kuhn of Hollywood; two brothers, Thomas Jackson of Fort Lauderdale and Graham Jackson of Roanoke, Va.; and four sisters, Lucille Bradshaw of Silver Lake, Ohio, Mary Rombo of Richmond, Va., Sue Abbott of Roanoke, Va., and Judy Mann of Peterstown, W.Va.

Wendell O. Fowler, 87, of Brooksville, died Thursday, April 29, 2004, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Gaffney, S.C., and moved to this area 21 years ago from Shelby, N.C. He was the owner and operator of Fowler Sales & Service, and a snapper mower dealership from 1973-1981.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L.; a son, Bill Fowler of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Peggy Fowler of Seminole; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Helen "Doris" Mahon, 84, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Spring Lake, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 in Tucson.
She was born in Jersey City, N.J., and had lived in Spring Lake for several years. She was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and attended St. Anthony Catholic Church, Brooksville, and St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Willhite of Tempe, Ariz., and Susan Mahon of Spring Lake; three sons, Michael Mahon Jr. of Moscow, Russia, Dennis of Tucson and Kevin of Tempe; and six grandchildren.

Thomas Huria Altgilbers, 23, of Brooksville, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at his home.
He moved to this area five years ago from his native Albuquerque, N.M. He was in sales/service for Penny Parts.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Patricia Levesque-Gosnell and Lester Gosnell; his father, Thomas Edward Altgilbers Jr.; four sisters, Juliette Rose Applegate of Albuquerque, Katelynn Marie Altgilbers of Cleveland, Ohio, Della Louise Altgilbers of North Carolina and Cassandra Sue Altgilbers of Don Ana, N.M.; maternal grandfather, Norman Levesque of Plant City; paternal grandfather, Thomas Edward Altgilbers Sr. of California; two nieces; and two nephews.

Mario M. Rodriguez, 85, of Tampa, formerly of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004.
He was born in Colon, Matanzas, Cuba, and moved to Tampa in the late 1940s. He grew up in Galicia, Spain, and served in the Spanish Civil War as an ambulance driver. He was a painter by trade.
Survivors include a sister, Estela Rodriguez Martinez of Spain; two brothers, Eugenio and Jaime Rodriguez of Tampa; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Dorothea Josephine Honings, 86, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Spring Hill, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Los Angeles.
She was born in New York, N.Y., moved to Florida 15 years ago from Connecticut and moved to California three years ago. She was a retired bookkeeper and bank manager. She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Simmons of Los Angeles.

Rex Hooten, 85, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Spring Hill Health and Rehab Center, Brooksville.
He was born in Alexander City, Ala., and moved to Florida 59 years ago. He was a retired electrician, a World War II U.S. Marine veteran, a member of Boulevard Christian Church, Miami, and the IBEW, and a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Julia; a son, Roger of Jacksonville; two daughters, Cathryn Hooten of Oswego, N.Y., and Rebecca Nelsen of Longwood; a sister, Signa Davis of Dayton, Ohio; and four grandchildren.

William H. Austin, 66, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
He was born in Rhode Island, moved to Tampa 33 years ago from Taunton, Mass., and moved to Spring Hill two years ago. He was a heavy equipment mechanic for Bemac/Quand T Ayer & Associates, Tampa. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Tampa, and the Egypt Temple Shrine. He was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Madeleine; two sons, William Austin of Spring Hill and Steve St. Germain of North Carolina; four daughters, Christine Johns of Spring Hill, Cathy Mayette of Rhode Island, and Diane Hunold and Christine Malinowski, both of Seminole, Ala.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Shirley M. Makiney, 81, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 at her home. She was born in LaSalle, Ill., and moved to this area 24 years ago from Cordova, Ill.

Survivors include her husband, Earl R.; a son, Robert S. of Monmouth, Ill.; a daughter, Beth L. Guzik of Roselle, Ill.; a sister, Dorothy Quick of Peru, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.

Mrs. James was a vault teller for SunTrust and a member of Covenant Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas; two daughters, Cheryl Louise Gopher of Okeechobee and Iva Renee Turner of Brooksville; two stepsons, Jeff James of Spring Hill, Kan., and Tim James of Leavenworth, Kan.; two brothers, Jack Teele of Brooksville and Rick Teele of San Antonio; and three grandchildren.

Joyce A. Jennings, 66, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007 at Brooksville Regional Hospital. She was born in Carey, Ohio, and moved to this area three years ago from Sumter County.

Survivors include two sons, Greg Jennings of Orlando and Shane Jennings of Brooksville; four daughters, Sue Slone of Tampa, Kim Jennings of Clearwater, Ramona Lindros of New Port Richey and Selena Roscillo of Brooksville; four sisters, Mazella Risner of Marysville, Ohio, Irene Clemons of Bottenbille, Ohio, Lucille Penley of Eustis and Rosetta Biettner of Shelby, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
