Gwendolyn E. "Ding" Johnson, 93, of Spring Hill, died Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., and moved to this area many years ago. She was an office manager for an insurance company and a Lutheran by faith.
Survivors include a son, William G. Johnson of Brooksville; a daughter, Mary Carol Hogan of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

George Anthony Chudoba, 71, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
He was born in Queens, N.Y., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Slidell, La. He was retired from BellSouth and previously worked for New York Telephone. He was a Korean conflict U.S. Marines veteran, a member of the Marine Corps Leagues, both of Spring Hill and Holiday, and American Legion, VFW and Coast Guard Auxiliary, all of Spring Hill. He was Hernando Tax Coordinator for AARP and was a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a sister, Anne Daly of Stewart Manor, N.Y.; and four nieces.

Georgia Emily Tompkins, 102, of Brooksville, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at Oak Hill Hospital. She was born in East Branch, N.Y., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Tarpon Springs.
Mrs. Tompkins was a homemaker, a past member of the Weeki Wachee Area Club, and attended Church in the Wildwood.
Survivors include a son, George “Tom” Sr. of Brooksville; two daughters, Janette Rodery of Lake St. Louis, Mo., and Violet Durshimer of Augusta, Ga.; 60 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Jessie Grinaldi, 85, of Zephyrhills, formerly of Brooksville, died Saturday, April 15, 2006 at her home. She was formerly of Brooksville for 18 years and had been a longtime resident of Tampa.
Mrs. Grinaldi played the organ at the Baptist church for 10 years and was a member of Gulf Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Duncan of Zephyrhills; two sons, John Grinaldi of Texas and James Grinaldi of Ohio; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Dominick J. Langellotti, 98, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at his home.
He was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to this area 14 years ago from Fort Salonga, Long Island, N.Y. He retired as a civil engineer with water services in New York City. He was a member of AFSME Chapter 37, New York, and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; a son, Thomas of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and a granddaughter.

Ernest M. Drown, 75, of Brooksville, Camper's Holiday, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Woodsville, N.H., and moved to this area 13 years ago from Derry, N.H. He retired from Donovan Spring Company, Manchester, N.H. He was a Korean War veteran, a member of the VFW, and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Thompson of Windham, N.H., Fay Geiser of Manchester, and Wanda Brasier of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two sons, Steve Kisielewski of Wilmington, Del., and George Kisielewski of Dunbarton, N.H.; a sister, Doris Purington of Barrington, N.H.; a brother, Earl Drown of Brooksville; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Olivia "Ollie" Cabral Rodriques, 80, of Brooksville, died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Unit, Chatman Boulevard, Brooksville.
She was born in New Bedford, Mass., and moved to this area 18 years ago from Tampa. She was the owner/operator of an inventory service company in Tampa for 10 years. She was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include two sons, Allan of Tampa and Tim of Brooksville; a daughter, Hazel of Brooksville; and six grandchildren.

William S. "Bill" Sizemore, 68, of Istachatta, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at his home.
He was born in Spartansburg, S.C., and moved to this area eight years ago from Tampa. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served for the Korean compost as a staff sergeant. He was a member of the VFW Shady Hills Post for several years and was a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include a son, William Sizemore of Melville, N.Y.; a daughter, Kimberly Gillespie of Clover, S.C.; a brother, Jud Ross of Floral City; a sister, Scelena Griffin of Ashville, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Carl Eugene Anderson, 85, of Spring Hill, formerly of Tampa, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, New Port Richey.
He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., and moved to this area 28 years ago from Tampa, where he lived for 27 years after coming from Columbus, Ohio. He was a surgical supply salesman for 35 years and a hospital administrator at Tampa Osteopathic Hospital for three years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Pharmacist's Mate 1st Class veteran, a lifetime member of VFW Post 8713, Brooksville, a member of the Port of Tampa City Masonic Lodge, and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Bess C.; a son, Michael Carl of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; a daughter, Judith A. Bennett of Cosby, Tenn.; two stepsons, Mark J. Bote of Valrico and Jeff J. Bote of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Susan K. Bote of Tampa; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Walentina Barhan, 78, of New Port Richey, formerly of Spring Hill, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Community Hospital, New Port Richey.
She was born in Kiev, Ukraine, moved to Spring Hill 27 years ago from Chicago, Ill., and moved to New Port Richey five years ago from Spring Hill. She was a homemaker and a 46-year member of St. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, Chicago.
Survivors include three daughters, Nadia Archibald of Chicago, and Helen Dixon and Maria Mauro, both of New Port Richey; three grandchildren; and some extended family in the Ukraine.

Gaynell Hanvey, 83, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at Heron Pointe Health & Rehabilitation, Brooksville.
She was born in Anderson, S.C., and moved to this area 27 years ago. She had worked as a cook at Katherine's Kitchen, Anderson. She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.
Survivors include two sons, David Lee Hanvey of Idaho and William Hanvey of South Carolina; four daughters, Patricia Child of Spring Hill, Mary E. Wardlaw and Lisa A. Hanvey, both of South Carolina, and Addie L. Wilson of Georgia; a brother, Jack Carroll of Georgia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Theresa Olivia Morgan, 64, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at the Hospice Care Center in Brooksville.
She was born in Brunswick, County, Va., and moved to this area 10 years ago from Newport News, Va. She was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Montague of West Grove, Pa., and Cindy Spata of Pembroke Pines; two sons, Steve Stutz of Tamarac and Glenn Stutz of Sunrise; a sister, Almeto Williamsson of Mechanicsville, Va.; a brother, Carl Morgan of Arlington, Va.; and nine grandchildren.

Virginia Wanitshka, 79, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at her home.
She was born in Oneida, Ky., and moved to this area 28 years ago from Utica, Mich. She was a retired supply specialist with the Department of Defense, was a homemaker and quiltmaker, collected German cultural items, loved to cook, served as a reservist in the U.S. Navy and was a 28-year member of Grace Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael of Rochester Hills, Mich., and William of Spring Hill; a daughter, Karen A. Wanitshka of Spring Hill; a brother, William Combs of Ann Arbor, Mich., three sisters, Maryann Sparks of Somerset, Ky., Lucille Merill of Mechanicsburg, Ohio, and Yvonne Perri of Ocala; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Donald W. Lewis, 60, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2005 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
He was born in Michigan and moved to this area 45 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed conversing on CB radio and his handle was "White Ghost."
Survivors include his mother, Violet Lopez of Pinellas Park; two sons, Donald and Edward White, both of Spring Hill; a daughter, Mary Sunderman of Panama City; two brothers, Allonie Cook of Seattle, Wash., and James Cook of Texas; three sisters, Bonnie of Chiefland, Gracie of New Port Richey and Connie of Wisconsin; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Rudolph A. Varnadoe, 79, of Brooksville, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 at his home.
He moved here 74 years ago from his native home of Lumber City, Ga. He was a retired drag line operator and worked as ranch foreman for John Marsh. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the American Legion Post No. 99 and a member of Eden Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ardelia; two sons, Rudolph A. Jr. and Randy C., both of Brooksville; three daughters, Pamela Reed of Brooksville, Brenda Allman of Asheville, N.C., and Marsha Patterson of Brooksville; a brother, Richard of Salt Springs; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Karnish, 86, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Pewamo, Mich., and came here 25 years ago from Michigan. He was a World War II decorated veteran serving 32 months in the Pacific. He was a baseball player for the Detroit Tigers and the Washington Senators. He was employed as a carbide tool and die maker and retired to Florida in 1981. He was a life member of the DAV, and enjoyed golf and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Irene of Spring Hill; a son, Stephen Gladys of Colorado; a daughter, Tana Brown of Warren, Ohio; four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Vincent "Jim" Amato, 85 of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at the Hospice Care Center in Brooksville. He was born in Castellammare Del Golfo Sicily, Italy and came here 12 years ago from Parsippany, N.J. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medical tech in the Northern France Rhineland Campaign. He was awarded the American Service Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Amalgamated Union where he worked in the garment district as a sewing machine operator in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a member of Spring Hill Crime Watch.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Louisa of Spring Hill; a son, Leonard Amato of Parsippany; a daughter, Louisa Amato of Spring Hill; a brother, Vito Amato of Palermo, Sicily, Italy; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren,

Teresita Z. "Tess," de Padua, 76, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005 at home. She was born in Manila, Philippines and came here 17 years ago from Plainfield, N.J. She was a Catholic by faith and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. She was a member of the Spring Hill Cloggers and Dance Group, the Filipino American Club.
Survivors include her husband, Winifredo B. de Padua of Spring Hill; four sons, Sonny of Largo, Dennis of Park Ridge, Ill., Edgar of Manville, N.J., Shad of Garden Grove, Calif.; a daughter, Ditas de Padua of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Tony Zaragoza of Edmonton, Canada; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Alexander L. Alberice, age 82, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at home. He was born in Boston, Mass., and moved here 19 years ago from Wesley, Mass. He was mechanical engineer, a World War II Air Force veteran, a member of the Massachusetts Masonic Lodge and of Protestant faith.
Survivors include wife, Marilyn J. Alberice; three sons, Peter Y. Alberice, of Ashville, N.C., Gary Alberice of West Tisbury, Mass., and Alex Alberice, of Spring Hill; one daughter, Andrea J. Alberice, of Spring Hill; and five grandchildren.

Ray R. Lilly, age 76, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Oak Hill Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved here 11 years ago from West Milford, N.J. He was the director of computer services at the West Milford Township High School where he retired, a golfer and attended the Mariner United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite; one son Ray Robert Lilly, of San Jose, Calif.; and one daughter Karen Lilly Bates, of Somersworth, N.H.

Harold A. Snyder, age 90, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital Administration in Tampa. He was born in Scranton, Pa., and moved here 35 years ago from New York. He was an auto mechanic, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a charter member and past commander of DAV Chapter 67 of Brooksville, a member of the Hernando County Veterans Council and of Methodist faith.
Survivors include wife, Elenor Snyder, of Brooksville; a son, Arthur Snyder, of Brooksville; two daughters, Beatrice West, of Dallas, Ga., Sally Herbert, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister, Dorothy Clement of Scranton, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Henry Louis Mahle, 97, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice Care Center in Brooksville.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and moved to this area 20 years ago from Pennsylvania. He was a knitting machine operator for Wyoming Hosiery Mills in Wyoming, Del. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

Sylvester Kulaga, 84, of Brooksville, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at his home. He was born in Detroit, Mich., and came here 16 years ago from Utica, Mich. He was a retired engineer/machinist for Clyde Corporation, owner of a motorcycle business for 21 years in Mt. Clemons, Mich., sponsored professional motorcycle riders that performed in the U.S. and Canada and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbyie Kulaga; four sons, David Kulaga of Auburn, Calif., Mark Kulaga and Sylvester "Quig" Kulaga, both of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Tracy Kulaga, of Brooksville; four daughters, Kathy England, of Middleburg, Fla., Linda Kruk, of Clarkston, Mich., Wendy Johnson, of Macomb, Mich., and Bobbyie Sortzi, of Plymouth, Mich.; one brother, Chester Kulaga, of Sterling Heights, Mich.; 21 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Barbara Elaine Gobin, 68, of Brooksville, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 at her home. She was born in Pawtucket, R.I., and came to this area seven years ago from Providence, R.I. She was a housewife, bingo player and a Catholic by faith.

Henry D. "Hank" Sabbatis, 82, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at his home. He was born in Monessen, Pa., and moved to this area in 2004 from Franklin, N.C. He was a retired wallpaper hanger and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a golfer and Roman Catholic by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Leah Matejka, of Solon, Ohio, and Kathleen Baylog, of Parma, Ohio; one step-daughter, Jane Selig, of Land O' Lakes; one step-son, Matt Zewalk, of Naples, Fla.; one brother, Ray Sabbatis, of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Marcella M. DiBona, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005 at Regional Medical Center, Bayonet Point in Hudson.
She was born in Festus, Mo., and moved to this area 10 years ago from Ocala. She was a registered nurse and enlisted in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include a son, Michael DiBona of Spring Hill; three daughters, Patricia Cudak of Hudson, Janet Green of Reno, Nev., and Michelle Mesic of Lutz; a brother, Joe Cazaux of St. Louis, Mo.; four sisters, Roseanne Rhodes of Ogden, Utah, Marion Koehler, Judy Koehler and Marie Cazaux, all of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
