He was born in Jackson Heights, N.Y., and moved to this area nine years ago from Ronkonkoma, N.Y. He retired as a truck driver from Walbaums Food Stores. He was a World War II U.S. Marines veteran and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW, both of New York, and the Moose Lodge in Florida.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathleen Sponton of Spring Hill and Teresa McHale of Hauppauge, N.Y.; two sons, Richard and Michael, both of Ronkonkomo; three brothers, Thomas of Ronkonkoma, William of St. Petersburg, and Robert of Wamamma, Fla.; a sister, Babette Book of St. Petersburg; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mary D. Sperone, 84, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
She was born in Robertsdale, Pa., and moved to this area seven years ago from Rockaway, N.J. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Spring Hill.
Survivors include her husband, Dominick; four sisters, Zula Perrucci and Barbara Carlson, both of Spring Hill, Ellen Reed of Rockaway and Elizabeth McPeek of Mt. Arlington, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Martin R. Ramirez, 35, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at his home.
He was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to this area 18 years ago from Carmel, N.Y. He was a landscaper and a Catholic by faith.
Survivors include a son, Robert of New Port Richey; a daughter, Michelle of New Port Richey; his mother and stepfather, Nora T. and Joseph Bard of Spring Hill; a brother, James of Hernando Beach; and two sisters, Amanda Somerfield of Clearwater and Lynda Cortalano of Spring Hill.

Michael J. Centanni Jr., 80, of Spring Hill, died Monday, March 17, 2003 at Oak Hill Hospital.
He was born in Newark, N.J., and moved to this area 12 years ago from Bloomingdale, N.J. He was the retired owner/operator of Precision Sheet Metal, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Butler, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; a son, Michael J. III of New Port Richey; a daughter, Rosemary Ballard of Pompton Lakes, N.J.; and three grandchildren.

John W. Martin, 55, of Spring Hill, died Monday, March 17, 2003 at home.
He was born in Oak Park, Ill., and moved to this area six years ago from Menomonee Falls, Wis. He was a courier for DMS Overnight Deliveries, Clearwater, and a Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Chris; two sons, Brett of Brown Deer, Wis., and Jeff Stephan of Spring Hill; a daughter, Amy Stephan of Spring Hill; his parents, John and Betty Mae of Menomonee Falls; three brothers, Richard of New Berlin, Wis., David of Hubertus, Wis., and Donald of Oshkosh, Wis.; and a granddaughter.

Carol Dorothy Herget, 83, of High Point, Brooksville, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at home.
She was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to this area a year ago from Port Au Prince, Haiti. She worked as a missionary in Haiti.
Survivors include two sons, Alfred of Knoxville, Tenn., and Wayne of Fayetteville, Ga.; a sister, Adele Hill of Deltona, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Gerard George Metivier, 74, of Brooksville, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at his home. He was born in Westbrook, Maine and came to this area 14 years ago. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a homebuilder in Westbrook, a member of the SPEBSQSA Barbershop Quarter of America, Portland chapter, and a member of The Heather's civic association.
He is survived by his wife, Anita; a son, Roland of Spring Hill; three daughters, Cecile Metivier of Brooksville, Joanne Nygren of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carol Metivier Gardiner of Spring Hill; three brothers, Gille of Bass, N.C., Andrew of Spring Hill and Donald of Windham, Maine; a sister Theresa Dugas of Venice, Fla.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ralph Lee Quesenberry, 79 of Brooksville, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Brooksville Regional Hospital. He was born in Lachgilly, W.Va. and came to this area 30 years ago from Beckly, W.Va.
He was a coal miner by trade, U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Hillside Community Baptist Church of Brooksville.
Survivors include his wife Edith; a son Ralph Lee, Jr. of Mt. Rainier, Md.; two step-sons, Wallace Dean of Martinez, Ga. and Melvin Dean of Lakeland, Fla.; five daughters, Rosie Lee Cooper of Lanham Md., Genivee Davis of Landover, Md., Sara Lee Lather of Md., Judy Lee Simmons of Brooksville and Wanda Lee Weade of Md., four step-daughters, Donna Ashberry of Winter Garden, Fla., Charlotte Roberts of Lakeland, Sherry Horn of Groveland and Debbie Murry of Plant City; two sisters, Shirley Coen and Abalene McKinney of W.Va., several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Edward Rogers, 72, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in Brooksville. He was born in New York City and came to the area eight years ago. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from Bellevue Hospital in New York after 38 years. He was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the LST Association, Latin Club and the Domino Club. He also enjoyed fishing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife Isabel; two daughters, Sharon and Priscilla, both of Spring Hill; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Laura Margaret O'Neal, 81, of High Point, died Friday, July 25, 2003 at her home. Born in Sciotoville, Ohio, she came here four months ago from Ashland, Ky. She was a home maker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in New Port Richey.
Survivors include her son, Gary O'Neal of Garner, N.Y.; a daughter, Margaret Miller of Brooksville; a brother, James Oliver Sr. of Ashland; two sisters, Mary Conley of Ashland and Lula Hale of Flatwoods, Ky.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Lisa Michelle Giuffrida, 22, of Spring Hill, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 in Brooksville. Born in Smithtown, N.Y., she came to this area 14 years ago from Coram, N.Y.
She worked at Village Pizza in Spring Hill and was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Collen Giuffrida; a sister, Cory Ault of Spring Hill; maternal grandparents, Howard and Lorraine Murphy, Ft. Lauderdale; two uncles, Gray Murphy of Ft. Lauderdale and Mark Murphy of Bellair; five aunts, Lorraine Kreiger of Melbourne, Babbette Olsen of Long Island, N.Y., Cheryl Willis of Bellair, Cheryl Spitznagel of Spring Hill and Diane Scott of Long Island, N.Y.; a niece, Alyssa Ault and a nephew, Andrew Ault of Spring Hill; and 23 cousins.

John William Wilson, 64, of Ridge Manor, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 at East Pasco Medical Center, Zephyrhills. Born in Sharon, Conn., he moved to this area 13 years ago from Torrington, Conn. He was a retired automobile mechanic and a Protestant by faith. He is survived by his wife, Mildred A.; a son, John Jr. of Thomaston, Conn.; a daughter, Evelyn of Brooksville; two brothers, David and Daniel, both of Lakeland; two sisters, Barbara Gleason and Eleanor Grinvolsky, both of Connecticut; three granddaughters, Sara Bielik, Jessica and Jennifer Wilson, all of Connecticut; and a grandson, Michael Gilbert of Brooksville. Jeannette L. Baines, 79, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 at her home. Born in Minneapolis, Minn., she moved to this area 14 years ago from Clearwater. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, John F. Jr.; four sons, Richard W., Brian R., Mark E. and John M.; a daughter, Laura Morris; a brother, William Lindberg; and a sister, Jacqueline Atwell. Bobby Williams, 57, of Spring Hill, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001 at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Tampa, he moved to this area four months ago from Perry, Ga. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam; a meat salesman for Greenwood Packing Co. of Greenwood, S.C. for 10 years; a member of the Myrtle Beach Masonic Lodge and the Great Falls Sacred Rites Lodge, Great Falls, Mont.; and a Baptist by faith. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann; two daughters, Sandy King of Lake Lure, N.C. and Michelle of Charlotte, N.C.; a son, James of Orlando; his mother, Mary of Morristown, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Chris, Matthew and Alyssa; two brothers, Curtis of Morristown, Tenn. David W. Pharis Sr., 65, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville.
He was born in Louisville, Ky., and moved to this area 30 years ago. He retired from the North American Philips Electric Co. He was a member of the Aripeka Elks Lodge, a U.S. Air Force veteran, and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Frances; his mother, Mary of Lakeland; a son, David W. Jr. of Spring Hill; a daughter, Carolyn L. Zakel of Spring Hill; a brother, William E. III of Danville, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Jack Dunn, 72, of Brooksville, died Monday, March 31, 2003 at his home.
He was born in Brooksville and was a lifetime resident. He was a plumber and pipe fitter, a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union and the Moose Lodge, and a Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a son, Jack Jr. of Brooksville; a daughter, Bonnie Lee of Brooksville; a brother, Richard Knighton of Brooksville; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dolores R. Markovsky, 71, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Oak Hill Hospital.
She was born in Bronx, N.Y., and moved to this area 15 years ago from Long Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker, an active member of the Hernando Beach Yacht Club, and a Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her husband, James; a daughter, Linda Wallace of Spring Hill; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Alan W. "Woody" Underwood, 57, of Brooksville, died Monday, March 31, 2003 at Brooksville Regional Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Brooksville. He was a practicing attorney of the Law Offices of Underwood & Eppley, P.A. He was a 1963 graduate of Hernando High School and received his law degree from the University of Florida. He was former city attorney for the City of Brooksville, past president, vice president and activist for the Sertoma Club, a member of the Hernando County Education Foundation, past president of the Florida Bar Association, and founding board member of the Withlacoochee Area Legal Services, Inc. He was elected Boss of the Year by the Professional Secretaries Association of Hernando County and was presented the Pro Bono Service Award by the Fifth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Project. He was a former T-ball coach and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Pam; a son, Tyrus of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Allison Mahoney of New Port Beach, Calif.; and a brother, Raymond Joel of Brooksville.

Clarence E. Lindow, 74, of Webster, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at James Haley VA Hospital, Tampa.
He was born in Binghamton, N.Y., and moved to this area seven years ago from Matamora, Ind. He was a retired forklift operator for Knuff Fiberglass, Shelbyville, Ind. after 15 years of service. He also retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was a life member of VFW Post 10137 and served in the Honor Guard. He was a member of the American Legion, Eagles and the Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta; a son, Lindell of Fairland, Ind.; four daughters, Clarenca Lindsay of Fayetteville, N.C., Tewinca Slay of St. Roberts, Mo., Hollie Bartle of Nokomis, Ill., and Lindella Thomas of Moss Point, Miss.; two stepsons, Donald St. Pierre of Hudson and Ivan Horne of Ridge Manor; five stepdaughters, Lorraine Chabre of Ridge Manor, Joann Gervais and Patsy Zahnd, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and Nancy Bouchard and Ann Gillend, both of Auburn, Maine; a brother, Stanley of Susquehanna, Pa.; two sisters, Doris Tracy of Burlington, Vt., and Louise; 28 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Abelardo (Al) Castillo Jr., 41, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, May 26, 2002.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Castillo came here 12 years ago from Queens, N.Y. He was a substitute teacher at West Hernando School District and was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Marie; three sons, Mark Anthony, of New Hyde Park, N.Y., Adam and Michael, both of Spring Hill; two daughters, Tabatha and Kristina, both of Spring Hill; parents, Abelardo and Melba Castillo, of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; one brother, David Castillo, of New Hyde Park, N.Y.; one sister, Catalina Castillo, of New Hyde Park, N.Y.

Born in Royal Oak, Mich., she came to this area 13 years ago from Oak Park, Mich. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
Survivors include her husband, William, of Spring Hill; two sons, David, of Lake Tahoe, Nev., and Craig, of Oak Park, Mich.; a brother, Victor Harrington, of Toledo, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
